Hey all,
For some reason my phone wont let me take anymore videos or pics and shows a message stating that there isnt anymore space available on my INTERNAL sd card.
BUT.. I in fact have a BUNCH of free space still available but its not showing up on my phone storage
On the screenshot it only shows 97.47MB available but there is actually a whole bunch of free space that for some reason the phone isnt recognizing.
Ive installed All-In-One Toolbox, and tried doing a SD cleaning but still no luck.

Every phone has reserved storage.. So that portion is for the software up late files, phone os files etc, so if your phone is a 8gb phone it means that in reality you only have 4 that you the user can use. How much internal storage do you have? The reserved storage may explain the issue.

I know the TFP doesn't come with an external SD card, but in the internal storage theres an SD card partition set to 27GB - however, I don't seem to be able to move any of my apps to the SD card, is there any way to do this?
It's incredibly frustrating when I'm trying to download my Spotify playlists to get the 'not enough memory left to download more songs' message when I've got 25GB free in the SD card partition.
I'm running ICS.
I thought the SD Card partition was just what the directory name for the internal drive? Are the apps not already downloaded to the internal storage to begin with?

That is what I believe too.
so I see the micro sd card in the file manager so how would you put apps on the micro sd card

PRIME, w/out a memory card, has all of its memory merged basically. The internal/external is merged for complete use for whatever you want. Inserting a memory card would show up as removable memory or ext2 or something. No need to put to apps to a memory card really unless you running out of memory already.
Weird, I'm not sure why I was getting that message then, since I had 25+ GB free.

Maybe that app needs updating for HC/ICS support. As to why its not recognizing the memory. You could always get a memory card n see if it acts any differently.
Way back on older Android versions and especially phones that had no iinternal memory, android use to have app memory n such separated. ALOT of people became mad because they would run out of memory for apps so fast. SO once phones n tablets came out with built in internal memory, they merged it so that you could use all the memory if you wanted for apps or whatever. PRIME DOES this. Some other devices/phones may be a lil different. ANOTHER reason why Prime doesn't show up as a USB Mass Storage device when hooked up to a computer. Now it uses MTP, I believe.

It says only for Android 2.2 or 2.3. Plus it hasn't been updated in the longest time. Read some comments of how it eats up battery and somehow messing up the memory partitions or something. Not sure. I went to the thread for it n read those comments. It says its available in market place but doesn't showbup when I go there.

Maybe they're working on a ICS version **cross my fingers**
But if you want the current version download it from the market using the browser from your PC or android device.. it shows up there, I just tried.
Weird it doesn't show from the market app.
gl to sd
If you are rooted
use it
love it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328053
Just install apk
launch data download stop download
open gl to sd make sure /sdcard/Andriod and /sdcar/data are checked marked
click recovery game list
click move data and select game to move it will launch and start the download to sd.
Only downside i have seen is when some one pick up my tablet and click on app and start download on internal due to the fact they dont use the gl to sd link.
I love this app 9mm, lets golf 3, and Back stab and original DH take up over 4 GB of space and i rather have them on sd then internal

Hipstreet Titan 2 Tablet, External 2 Internal Issues.
I have a Hipstreet Titan 2 tablet, it's model 7DTB39, and is 8GB (on KitKat). I have a 32 GB SD card that I need to apply as internal memory. It is rooted. Though this model has 8GB, most of it is withheld for system functions, I get to use just under 3GB all said and done--not enough to get most things done. I installed the External 2 Internal app, and tried two different ways that I saw suggested online. Both ways did not work for this tablet. It shows the same amount of severely limited internal storage space before and after the procedure; and as well even though most of the card is free, I cannot download some apps. Can someone steer me in the right direction to resolve this please? I know how to use the app, but do not know what to enter into it to make it work correctly.
I was hoping to simply find the information I needed present, but did not find it. I am not sure of how your forum works, I am new here. Forgive me if I took the wrong approach. I am really stuck.
I apologize, I wanted to erase the post I made, but realized too late to do so.
Hi all,
I've just received my HTC desire x, checking the specs there is written
that the internal memory should be 4GB, but I have just 1GB.
the total space shows 1.09 GB (screenshot attached)
on the HTC website there's written
Total storage: 4 GB, available capacity varies*
and then *Available storage is less due to phone software.
Is it possible that the OS takes 3GB? Seems a bit too much for me...
Any idea?
Thanks all in advance

This is correct man. There is no issue or problem. The system takes ~3gb. Cos imagine when you are factory resetting your phone. The original OS file (called ROM) will reside in that memory with a whole lot of other backup stuff which you cant access.
This is why ppl use CUSTOM ROMS, cos we remove bloatware and other things.
What you see in that screenshot is same as mine and as other. Just buy an external card and it will rock
and please go to about > software update > PRESS CHECK NOW even though "Scheduled Check" is ticked cos there are updates and possibly u have one waiting also.

^ +1.
anyway i cant see why 1gb isnt enough for apps and games. if you have a sd card, it will be more than enough because of the ability to move apps to sd.

Thanks man all doubts vanished now,
does it mean that once rooted (I haven't seen any good rom around yet, please advise if you know any)
I can partition the internal memory? Or it's better not to partition anything for a smoother and faster phone?
Thanks again
Yes 4GB in these mount points:
dev - 303MB
cache - 251MB
data 1,1GB
internal memory (emmc) - 1,1GB
system/942MB
Plus a few more like radio boot and / mount point. It's up around 4GB.
i think you want this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD
with that app. you will no longer have to worry about low internal storage again. i use that all the time on my previous phone who has low internal memory (400mb below). but with des x i dont need it. 1gb internal memory are a lot!

Is it possible to reformat partitions? Why not to have internal memory (emmc) - 1,1GB and system/942MB merged? I'm not using emmc, cuz I have SDCard for all my stuff, so 1,1 Gb are empty, but I have insufficient space on system.

Hey mate how u going at making a rom?
There is a much easier way now.. You can convert the portable storage SDcard to an adoptable sdcard which merges with the system. Now originally converted the portable storage to adoptable thinking it would move more apps to the sdcard and leave more free space. But it in reality did not do much more than manually moving the apps to the sdcard. So I ended up with 1GB or so of free internal memory.. But all the memory free and how much memory was present was screwed up because it says I have like 64gb memory when I only have 16gb and 32gb so total 48gb.. And it only showed the free memory of either the internal or the sdcard. And no google program allowed me to move it to the sdcard.. So all that work and having to reinstall everything and add in the accounts and such were rather useless.. Other than to see that samsung does have the option to format something as portable or adoptable.. Using the ADB shell ofcourse..
here you can add part of the sdcard to the adoptable memory and the rest as regular sdcard memory.. Rather pointless actually other than the adoptable memory is encrypted and unreadable on the pc using a card reader..
Using the ADB shell in the command within a windows command window.. I use TCC which is a replacement command.com for windows from long ago and works like the unix shell.. Microsoft has changed the command.com to cmd.com now and you can bring it up by typing CMD into the search programs and files window.
Type sm list-disks and record the disk IDs that come up like disk:179,64
use the format sm partition DISK:TYPE:RATIO to change the type...
Enter the disk ID where it says DISK, TYPE is either ‘private’ to adopt the entire microSD card or ‘mixed’ to use a portion of it. RATIO is only used if you select mixed. So a command would be something like: ‘sm partition disk:182:160 private’ to adopt the entire storage. Or ‘sm partition disk:182:160 mixed 50’ to adopt 50% of the microSD card.
sm partition disk:179,64 private
sm partition disk:179:64 mixed 50
also the command adb shell pm set-install-location 2
Which is supposed to set the location of the downloaded installs to the sdcard.. Which also does not really do much..
Now the command to turn that portable sdcard to adoptable..
adb shell sm set-force-adoptable true
would format the sdcard as adoptable.. Supposed to let you format it from the control panel and let you select portable or adoptable etc but not so.. You only get the option to format is as portable..
But internally it does have the option even if you normally cant get to it..
Well samsung pushed a new update from oct 18th and I got it a few days ago.. It was available for many months in like new zealand for some reason.. The oct update is named T355YDOU1BPJ1.. Since the last update was only a month before I was surprised as once its past an year samsung dont really care about such things.. so 2 updates in 3 months is kind of a shock..
Well anyway the update was like 440mb in size or the full mage is like 1.5gb.. It took over 15 minutes for it to re flash all the system files and over an hour to play with the apps.. so fully charge the device first..
I had the pixel launcher and it kept on crashing.. So went back to google now launcher which seemed stable.. And the tab was extremely slow to do anything.. For most things this is a rather fast tab even if the cpu is lame and slow at 1.2ghz only.. But for normal use it is fast for most things.. Sure wished I could go back.. I had it running for more than 2 days on a single charge by now.. Not really using it heavily but from a day it going to over 2 days is nice.. It gives almost 7-8 hours or playing or watching movies otherwise anyway.. Now the CPU was stuck above 50% and rebooting and all that after all the work was depressing..
But anyway now it is stable.. no reboots and speed seems to have come back to normal..
Now why would I post all this here.. Well that is because I just went and checked the free memory.. and WOW.. 3.5GB..... So it was migrating data off the internal memory to the adoptable sdcard memory before when it was acting up.. Yes that is an option now that shows up when you go to th storage internal memory option and once you use that ADB command to change it from portable to adoptable.. And it has given me an extra 2.5Gb of free memory.. How I dont know.. google still dont allow you to move their stuff to sdcard. Neither does microsoft and some others..
I suppose this new update actually moves the data part of those apps that does allow you to move them to sdcard to really move it to the sdcard like adoptable storage..
Well I dont know if this update also does the same thing with portable memory.. But before the data still stayed mostly in the internal memory even if the app could be moved to the sdcard.. OR the data was still in internal memory even after you moved it to the sdcard and there was a bug which never deleted the data from the android secure storage area and still took up space..
Apps like whatsapp wont let you move it to the sdcard now.. It could be moved before but the widgets would not work..
So those looking for debloated roms and such.. this might be a quick fix.. You can download the firmware yourself and use odin to flash it if you did not get the OTA.. I dont feel like voiding the warrenty on something that works so well.. Rooting and such is a real pain unless you want to spend a lot of time playing with things. But rooting and using titanium backup also lets you delete old system apps and replace it with new updates in the system partition and not use up valuable internal memory area.. Or it allows you to get rid of it entirely.. Just the Microsoft stuff takes up like a gb of space and they are useless apps all tied to online and their account and such. I suppose I am preparing myself for when the warranty runs out to root and get another 2gb of free space or so. by getting rid of the useless bloated apps but until then the 3.5gb of free internal memory will suffice. The sdcard has disappeared now from lock screen security and encrypt sd card says no sdcard present. and the entire memory is now encrypted.
https://samsung-firmware.org/all/
ps..my wife has a tab4 with a 64gb sdcard and even though it gives 2gb of free space out of the 8gb internal memory.. The facial recognization stay awake keeps storing useless pics and filling up the space even when the function is not used.. So every week have to delete 10,000 files to make space as it keeps saying no memory.. So samsung does not always fix bugs.. even though they pushed a security update earlier in the year for a 3 year old device.. it is like the little brother to this one and actually works much better if they fixed all the problems as this one is too big to carry around all day.. But this one is great when looking at maps travelling.

I have a 16gb Samsung Galaxy s5, that is rooted and its external SD card used to work just fine its internal storage also displayed just fine on pc. However when I booted up link2sd on teh phone and tried to link or bind stuff (i was restored my files and data from an old 4.4.2 lg volt phone to my galaxy s5 6.0.1 phone) and all my apps and data restored just fine via titanium backup. apparently though link2sd rusn differently on an s5 using mashmallow than it dos on a lg volt using kitkat as when I booted it up and rie dto rebind/relink all my apps back to sd on the s5.
It got a message saying something like (i dont remember the error well) "this device doesnt support sdext and needs sdefs, would you like to change it. This can be changed back at any time in the slider" So I figured. Ok even if it dosnt work I can change it back with the slider so I hit yes to change. Yet nothings binded or linked and when I tried to go back and relink all apps manually its saying sd card not found or mounted. Im thinking umm this card was JUST used to restore a titanium backup so why isnt i found?
So I plug the phone into my pc and sure enough not only do I not see an external storage I also notice I cant access the phones internal storage (well i can but its nothing it it) and the pc shows it as 127 mb free of 128 mb... im thinking 128mb? Umm it should say 16gb. So i chdck the storage on the phone itself and it says sd card is unmounted (titanium backup says the same thing when before link2sd titanium accessed my sd card just fine). But the internal storage on the phone reads as 9.82 Gb used of 14-16gb (close to it) which is correct so Im like why doesnt the pc read it as such? I used to just fine before I did what I did on link2sd.
Lastly i took the sd card out of the phone and put in a different sd card and it shows it as unmounted too. so got the first sd card that I previously took out of the phone plugged it into my pc and my pc reads it just fine along with all my backups and what not so i know the sd card isnt damaged. Sooo how do i change whatever i changed on link2sd to get my phone to recognize my sd card correctly again and get my pc to recognize the external storage when its plugged into the phone and recognize the internal storage of the phone as the right size again?
update.
Ok Im having a HUGE problem. My phone worked fine at first, then I rooted it and used titanium backup to restore all my apps from my old phone (an lg volt) to my current phone an S5... everything was fine. My phone recognized my SD card, when I plugged the phone into my PC it would show my correct phone internal storage as well as my sd card storage. Then I ran link2sd to relink all my data to my sd card... even though i didnt need to because unlike my old phone which was 8gb the s5 was 16gb and had more than enough space to run my apps without the link2sd. If I had left that alone we wouldnt be where we are now. However I didnt so here we are.
Link2sd had message saying something like "this device doesnt support /sdext and has to be changed to sdefs (i know im getting the message way wrong but it was something like that) these settings can be changed via slider". So I clicked yes to let it do what it had to do. after all if I didnt like the results I could always change back via the slider right? link2sd required a reboot after the changes were made and now when it boots after the samsung and sprint logos and before the lock screen Im staring at a black screen that shows the time and "no connection" for about 30 secs before the lock screen shows up (this didnt happen before link2sd made whatever changes it made) and the "process system not responding" message shows up. Though the only adverse affects Ive sen from that so far is when I open Gallery it stops and closes automatically so I cant even use it.
However I couldnt find said slider and now when I hooked my phone to PC it shows no external storage and reads my internal as 127MB free of 128mb (yes that right... 128 mb.. on a phone thats supposed to be 16gb). When i go to storage on the phone itself It said sdcard unmounted (as if theres not one there) and my internal storage shows 9gb used of 14gb so the PHONE knows how much gb I should have but my pc doesnt. Also if i take the sdcard out of the phone and plug it into my pc directly everything shows up on it just as it should so i know the sd card isnt broken.
So I found solutions like reboot phone in recovery and have it wipe cache. I did that.... didnt work. Then I tried unrooting the phone and factory data reset (from the phone settings not from the recovery boot). Despite doing a factory rest which SHOULD fix ANYTHING wrong with the phone, delete all apps and make it run just as it did when you got it. That black screen between logos on lock screen still pops up and I get the "process system not responding" message still appears. Now my PC doesnt see my phone at all when Its plugged in.
So I tried booting in safe mode to see if that message still comes up and the answer is yes but now my pc sees my phone (no sd card in it but I doubt it will see it if it was) however it still displays the storage as 127mb of 128mb
So link2sd started this whole problem and factory reset wont even solve it. Ive provided plenty of details. Can this be fixed or if my phone pretty much done now (i can still use it for texts and calls but, its useless hooked to a pc, doesnt recognize external storage anymore and I cant use the gallery sooooo yea. I hope someone has a solution.

its a samsung card.
Even if I unpartitioned the card that isnt gonna make the phone read it and do what its supposed to do again so. Im gonna need a reply that helps or at least attempts to help the actual MAJOR problems Im having with the phone right now thank you.

and again the sd card is the least of my worries how about the problems I listed like my 16gb phone showing up as 128mb on my pc,. not being able to look at the internal storage files/folders on my pc, the "system process not responding" message that come up, even in safe mode and still hasnt went away after a factory reset as such none of my apps (like google maps, internet or even gallery are working, only thing I can do with this phone now is call and text. How about you try focusing on THOSE issues please. Thank you.
Well in case anyone was wondering I solved the problem, reflashing the stock rom then rerooting fixed everything.. I just know not to use link2sd on this phone again
Having the same problem here... how to fix?
I fixed it
Link2sd creates a backup during the process
Just delete the
System/sdcard.bin or (system/sdcard)
And rename the backup named
sdcard.original.pre-link2sd
To
Sdcard.bin
Reboot phone and #Enjoy
This took me 3 days 2 figure out??

This above is the exact same problem i had
This is how I fixed it,
Link2sd creates a backup during the process
Just delete the
System/sdcard.bin or (system/sdcard)
And rename the backup named
sdcard.original.pre-link2sd
To
Sdcard.bin
Reboot phone and #Enjoy
This took me 3 days 2 figure out??
I can't find the backup files? Where are they exactly located? Please help!

UPDATE!!
Got it! My backup files were in /system/bin
but there were two files (sdcard and sdcard.bin). I deleted the sdcard.bin and renamed the sdcard.original.pre-link2d to sdcard.bin.
