Hi
I am looking for some android app which help me do the following:
I receive various messages related to banks, my mutual funds, etc. These are important so I dont want to delete them but I dont want to be notified about them either. I just want that when SMSes from specific senders come, the come silently (no SMS ringtone) and I am not informed.
So basically, SMS silence for selected senders & no-inform for selected senders. Possible?

Hey everybody,
Does anybody know how I could set up a filter on my sms inbox so that messages go to different folders? For example I recieve SMS alerts when I get a new email and I would like these alerts to go into a separate folder. Is this even possible?
I imagine that quite a few people could make use of such a filter and it may even become commonplace with the volume of junk messages now bombarding our phones!!
Regards,
Max
Hi guys,
I've just found out that I could not delete now SOME of the messages from one of my contacts unlike before. Menu->Delete Messages are no longer working for that person, and to my amazement for this person only. The feature is still working with my other contact's SMS.
I hope anybody can offer some help.
Thanks.
Just to check, there are messages from that person to delete, rather than an empty list?
Can you select them in 'all messages'?
Hi,
I have all my Google contacts logically split into groups ie work, friends, family etc.
What I'd like to do is be able to leave the phone on after work and be able to divert all work calls to voice mail for example.
Is there a way to do this on the phone natively ?
TIA,
Arfer
Not possible to send to voicemail at selected times natively.
Think I've not been clear enough.Want I'm after is to be able to have groups go to voicemail while other groups work normally ie the phone rings
Cheers,
Arfer
The best anyone has suggested to me is this:
Mr. Number
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...i5ibG9ja2VyIl0.
This doesn't do what I want as it means making whitelists / globally all contacts as filters.
it's along the right lines but is no longer being developed and not for use Gingerbread onwards.
Can't believe this most obvious and helpful of functions is not available or that people aren't hollering out for it.
Everyone of my friends I've asked about this all once I've explained it are amazed it's not available.
Why have groups within Google contacts unless they provide useful functionality ?
So I have a bunch of friends with iPhones, and they threw me into a group chat (not that it matters but we're organizing a martini night). As you guys probably know as android users, this presents a problem as the group messages are received as individual texts, normally with a <no subject> header, and as a result, you can't reply to the chat, but have to respond to each member individually (or send a mass text each time).
I'm wondering if there's simply a way to group (on my end only) those contacts together, so that any message I receive from them shows up as a group chat, which I can then reply to all. I would still get the <no subject> headers, but at least this way the messages could be organized and I could read the conversation without having to look at each contact separately and compare the message with the timestamp from when it was sent.
The apps I've seen (like POWOW) can create chat groups, but it requires that my friends join the chat, or reply to some strange number each time, and it's really just an unnecessary hassle for them. I don't want that.
Anyone know of an app, or a way of grouping contacts together like this?
I'm on CM7 using the "Messaging" app.
Handcent has this feature. Free @ play store.

Is there an texting app out there that can allow you to organize contacts much like how gmail emails can be sorted? If i have a contact that is set up as "work" in my contacts and they send me a text, it will be filed under a "work" folder. If a friend texts me, their sms history would be under "social" or something similar?
So basically, the architecture of my sms will be:
Main folder (unsorted)
A) social
B) work
C) family
D) something for automated texts from bank or verizon, etc
E) old
Always scrolling up and down my sms can br an eye sore sometimes.
Thanks!
