I'm trying to restore from a backup on my SD card. It is stuck on "Checking MD5 sums..." and won't do anything.
I need some help. Not sure what to do here. I had already wiped and everything so I don't know if I should pull the battery and try again or what.
Nevermind. Got it figured out.

So I go through the whole ODIN process and everything works fine until my phone reboots and is supposed to wipe the data and flash the new rom. At that point the i get an error that says "data wipe failed". The phone just reboots and gets past the tmobile logo and the galaxy s logo and then to just a blank screen.
Why wont my data wipe?
Possibly you have a bad copy of the pit or jfd file or the drivers could be bad I would say get a flesh batch of files and drivers and try again
V5 custom vibrant
Odin back to stock and start from new, its alway better anyways

i am flashing the original stock firmware and i get that error.
Redownload all the files and try again

Maybe I should elaborate.
I already had a rooted phone with a custom rom. I decided I wanted to partition the memory card so i could have a ext drive. The problem is that I assumed when I selected the "partition memory card" option, it would partition my replaceable memory card and not the internal card. Needless to say my internal memory card got formatted and my phone ****ed up. It still booted into android but most of my apps and other things were missing, so I decided to just reflash a new rom and be done with it. So i downloaded the new macnut r13 and rebooted my phone into the recovery menu from the reboot screen. Once there I selected to install the new rom but I got some kind of error and it couldn't install. At that point my phone woudlnt get past the vibrant stage if rebooted so I just decided to odin back to factory and start over and that is where I am now.
I am using ODIN files I have used in the past and know work.
I will post a video of what I am talking about in a few minutes.

Here it is.
Ok, so I know that adb works now, i Have been trying a few things but I think my problem is that I need to reformat my internal sd card back to factory settings.
my question is how to do that with adb
Ok I dont really know how to reformat the sd card back to stock but I used to get that error every time when flashing back to stock with odin until I used eugenes no brick rom. Have you tried that?
No, I thought you could only use that if you didn't have 2.2 already installed at soe point.
I had axura 2.2 and I had to still flash eugenes no brick to go back to stock. I would try that.
So I tried the eugene's rom and it works at least some what.
I can boot into android but now it says I have no storage for apps and 14 gigs of storage on the phone. So I still have the partitioning issues.
Thanks for the help so far but I still need a little bit more.
anybody got anything?
Once you get to the point where your on eugenes froyo that doesn't brick you have to reload odin and then go back to stock with the jfd or ji6 files and the 512 pit file
V5 custom vibrant
I tried that and I still get the same problem, the data fails to wipe during the ODIN and I get a black screen after the galaxy s logo.
I went back to the no brick rom but I have no storage for apps so I am very limited to what I can do on the phone.
anybody, anything?
When you flash with ODIN make sure re-partition is checked. I have never seen this issue before but I think that should take care of it. From what I gather, you removed the /data partition so it fails to format the /data partition because there isn't one. Hope this helps. Lemme know if it works. Gdluck
same problem, still happens
I installed the clockwork recovery mod on my phone and boot into it. Once there i went into the partitions menu to try and format my "data" partition and it couldn't find it for me.
So it looks like my problem is more than likely the missing data partition on my phone, Does anyone know how to use ADB to fix that?
Here is a video of the ODIN process

To make a long story short my gtab broke so I got another one. Prior to shipping the bad one back I did an nandroid backup and copied to my computer.
I received my new one today, installed clockwork and trying to do a restore.
Error while flashing boot image!

is what I receive. What gives? Any thoughts on why I'm seeing this?
I managed to get the "md5 sum mismatch" on my dx, but that was because I renamed the original file and used spaces in the name...
Never managed to get the error you got though

I've tried so many things. I flashed Vegan ROM over again, performed reboot, went into the fresh clean ROM..then rebooted into recovery to restore. Same error.
I tried partitioning over again, wiping, etc then restoring..same thing. I even tried another nandroid that I took days prior....!! I'm at a loss... argh! I want this image back from my nandroid
Also to add confusion to the mix: I tried taking a backup of nothing basically, and then restoring that and it worked fine. However just none of my 3 nandroid backups takin off my old device restore on this device. Is there a coorelation?
There has to be a way to flash back my nandroid backup...right?
Maybe my bootloader is locked, thus stalling on the boot.img?
ok so now I really jacked it up...tried downloading rom manager from market, installing some recovery and restoring my image, which did nothing but freeze at the viewsonic screen. Now I can't get into recovery anymore
Now I tried nvflashing back to stock... windows 7 crashed at the 11_app_img but it copied scucessfully, and now the tablet won't turn on?wtf!
Ok, so before I flashed a new rom, I installed Clockworkmod to make a backup so that I wouldn't lose everything. I made my backup, and immediately tried to restore it, just to triple check that everything would work if I did somehow mess up. Well, it didn't. I restored once, and got an error (error formatting /system), so I tried to restore again, thinking that this might be a one off, and I got a different error (error restoring boot image). I said, oh well, maybe I did something wrong, and pressed reboot. Well, phone won't boot up. Stuck on the motorola logo with unlocked written in the top left corner. I'm on Orange UK, bootloader unlocked using the bell.ihop from International House of Pudding, and Clockworkmod installed permanently (fastboot flash recovery (cwm).) . Anyway, I cant afford to lose this phone, does anyone know a fix?
So, maybe someone can help me out here. I wanted to install Kit Kat Killer. This is what happens:
Rooting Process
1. I used Odin to install the root automatically.
2. I verified the root.
3. SuperUser and BusyBox installed.
4. Used Odin to install TWRP.
Recovery
1. Booted into TWRP.
2. Accidentally forgot to Nandroid Backup.
3. Wiped internal data, wiped everything else except SD Card.
4. Went to install Kit Kat Killer. Got some failed messages about some usb folder being unable to be mounted.
5. Rebooted phone. Re-downloaded everything and moved to SD.
6. Still fails.
Google time...
1. Downloaded some files from the links/forums I came across. None of these two files will flash through Odin, saying FAIL!
a. N900PVPUBMJ4_N900PSPTBMJ4_N900PVPUBMJ4_HOME.tar
b. N900PVPUBMI3_N900PSPTBMI3_N900PVPUBMI3_HOME.tar
2. TWRP can't be added through ODIN anymore as far as I know. I was using version
Now...
1. TWRP is gone.
2. Phone is stuck in "ODIN MODE" for recovery (?).
3. I can't get past the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 screen.
4. When I get the yellow triangle about needing Kies3 for an emergency firmware repair, it does NOT recognize my phone. Yes, I am using Kies 3. It says I am using an unsupported phone.
5. It does say SW REV CHECK FAIL.
I am at a total loss here. I know it's a soft brick, but for the life of me, I can not figure out what to do next.
Thanks for all your help!!
Just got it back into TWRP mode. It keeps saying:
"E: Unable to mount /usbstorage"
Then when it tries to install KitKatKiller, it checks for the MD5 (on the SD too in the same directory), it says FAIL. I think this whole issue is based on the usbstorage thing.
Right now, I am going to download the latest Sprint stock ROM and see if I can flash it in TWRP. This will take at least 50 minutes to get going (30 for download/20 for file transfer). So plenty of time for you guys to jump in and say otherwise
Really, I appreciate all of your help!!! I am sure I made a n00b mistake. I had no real problems with my GSIII or EVO 4G once I got the hang of things
I think you guys can close this thread. I am not sure what the hell happened, but I wiped my SD card after copying the KitKatKiller ROM to another folder on the internal SD. I had forgotten to include the MD5 file in the same folder as well, but it finally installed. Right now, the phone is showing KitKatKiller logo spinning and booting up, so I presume the phone will be fine from this point, and if not, I will use Kies 3 to return it to stock and give it a try again. Again, you can close this thread, I feel like an idiot but it all worked out for some odd reason. I'm still not sure why I was getting "unable to mount usbstorage" errors.
Thanks again for everyone taking a look!!!!!!

Glad you figured your issues out. Just popped into tell you that twrp fails mounting USB because it's looking for an external USB. Not to worry its supposed to fail unless you have a USB drive plugged in through an otg cable.
Hey guys, havin a bit of trouble tonight...I wanted to odin restore my phone with no wipe, so I used the md5 file from surge here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172
When I was newer to rooting, I messed up quite alot and would odin restore using this file quite a bit...it always worked great.
Anyways, I flashed it tonight and my phone boots up ok and gets to the lock screen, but when I unlock it, I get an error message saying "Unfortunately com.android.phone has stopped" also, it will say messasing has stopped...then it goes into this setup wizard and says its trying to activate my phone. All the while, I keep getting the error message about com.android.phone...I really have no idea whats going on. I've tried flashing the md5 file several times now with the same results. Also included in the thread is a full wipe restore. That'll be my next try I guess.
If anyone has any clue whats going on let me know! just to clarify, I can't access anything on my phone.
Flashed the "Full Wipe" tar.md5 file and that took care of it. Just gotta set my phone up again lol
