New Google Maps Ver. 7.0 - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Here is the New Google Maps Ver. 7.00
If you are running Android Ver 4.1+ download this apk
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ycdvwzee07g64f4/com.google.android.apps.maps-7.0.0-700002504.apk
If you are running Android Ver 4.2 download this apk
https://www.dropbox.com/s/b680p17tfzjseru/com.google.android.apps.maps-7.0.0.apk
From what I have noticed is it takes away the Navigation and Places Icon as it is all in the Maps app now. Also Latitude is gone from the app and you can no longer access your Location History from the App itself.

Thank you very much sir

Thanks for the share... :silly:

Has anyone tested the navigation to see if it fixes the freeze/force close many Evo LTE users experience?

Thanks, I haven't had a chance to go out and try it, but it appeared to be working just sitting in one place. This is GREAT news (as long as it continues to hold true)! I can't believe it took over 6 months between Google and HTC to get this fixed. They probably didn't even address it. The fix is likely just a byproduct of the new release. At least it's working.
EDIT: Just tested it on the way home from work, and it worked great!

Has anyone got the 4.2 version to correctly install? Won't install for me.

Ok, finally got this new version installed. It appears offline maps is no longer supported. I don't see any way to cache a map region. Is this what everyone else is seeing?

I downloaded it on my pc emailed it to my gmail and installed from gmail on my phone and it worked perfect. I'm running IrocEvo CM10.1 4.2.2 right now.

Thanks for the share! This fixed my navigation crashes as well.
The download button would not work for me. However, I was able to have it added to my dropbox and then downloaded it to my phone from there.

Thanks and works great its missing the zoom buttons which is nice for one finger control but its beta so probably get added back in

It still works. Long-press on a location on the map and it will list the address at the bottom. Tap on the address and it will show show you a condensed street view, if available. You can touch the street view again to open it full-size.
And no, you're not stupid, Scott

Has anyone experienced this new maps version causing their phone to get extremely hot? I had good reception but it was hot enough that it wasn't comfortable to hold.

Still haven't got the update! :banghead::banghead::banghead:
I'd rather not use those floating around the interwebz as there is many different apks as reported by androidpolice

Thanks, fin. Yeah, it seems harder to find your way around new maps, but I'm finding all kinds of features that are vastly improved. Like the virtual view in street view, where just moving your phone around is like turning your head. There is no pegman anymore, and only way I've found to move up the street isn't as good as pegman/dragman.

I don't understand this logic. It's not like this is somehow an 'illegitimate' Maps apk. If you find other versions, try those, too.

Well I know it's legit lol, just some are made for different api levels. Our api is 16, and some are made for 17. Btw this apk has target api of 17, but the min it supports is 16

Did the new maps update take over navigation? I've noticed my naigation app is no longer there, but maps works (except I got to jump through more hoops to get it to work right).

Once again, browsing on Instagram works perfectly fine. Try posting a picture. Even DesignGears said that the new leak doesn't fix the freezing problem so I doubt you're right.
Well just browsing is no good, i browse, comment, and like from the PC program. Easier viewing in a grid instead of one by one phone scroll up
I only use my phone to upload pics, since that's not possible from a PC yet
Right so can anyone mod the app to work with out freezing the phone?

They just released an update and the filters work fine now.
They addressed it in the "What's new" section too
Edit:

Posting from gallery results in a black picture. It seems a little laggy, but at least it hasn't crashed on me yet.

1+ posting from the gallery results in you uploading a black pic, haven't taken a pic with the instagram camera yet, but according to your screenshot that works fine....

If you had a us based sense 3.6 it should have had this problem as well. The cause is htclinkifydispatcher.apk. If you are rooted you can remove this app in /system/apps restart and you'll get your menu back but some apps such as talk and messaging won't work correctly with links anymore.

Those who have this working, are you running CM9 or the like, or are you actually getting this to function on Sense? I am curious before I dive in, because it says it only works on AOSP ROMs.

In that case you need to change the gps satellite pool (I think that's what its called :s) to where you live. By default the device is set to the USA, but if you live elsewhere it is easy to change it. I'll post a link tomorrow when I find the post on changing it

I actually love the original HTC keyboard. Once I got used to having the arrows I didn't know how I ever got along without them. I recently flashed over to Liquid ICS a few days ago and were missing them. Try downloading SwiftKey 3 and giving that a go (go into the options to enable the arrows). I find this keyboard to be PRETTY similar to the HTC one, although there are differences. I'm liking it so far.
It will probably need some tweaking then. I noticed newt said it would need to be ported to work.

Thanks will be trying this once I get the ROM finally working right. My old HTC IME keyboard I used on CM7 ( a themed htc sense keyboard from a dev here) was still in my settings when I flashed the ICS rom (think I missed something) and would pop up and work for the first two keystrokes before it crashed. I have looked at every keyboard out there and still prefer the HTC one over all else (just works for me). If I can get the ROM working correctly I will try out the one you posted here thanks!
