We don't have a section for the Evo Design 4G, so I am moving this to Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting.
This thread will help you root if needed (I know you want a SIM unlock), hopefully someone can help you with the unlocking if it's possible.

Hello everyone!
I bought a EVO 3D, unfortunately at the time of purchase I was passed off as non-branded and then realize that power instead is branded Vodafone. Although not much branding as "invasive" (apart from the Vodafone logo when turned on, a series of very annoying and totally useless vodafone app .... I can not uninstall), the thing that struck me is the rom 1.24.165.2 while looking at that network are not able to find information, and on the site HTCDev does not reflect this as an unlockable rom ....
And 'possible debranding?
I can unlock the boot loader (version 1.49.0012 and Rom 1.24.165.2) with the procedure on the site HTCDev?
Sorry for the english google translate
Thank you ...
Max
use htcdev.com to unlock, do not see any other things do u understand?
Hi
Dw buddy, I have the Telstra evo 3D which has the same hboot 1.49.0.12 n 1.24.165.2 rom. I just unlocked the bootloader via the htcdev, just make sure do all the steps.
1. [Tutorial] [UNLOCK/ROOT] EVO 3D GSM Hboot 1.49.0011> + S-On [HTC Unlock method]
2. BackUp your rom with CWM
3. Flash a rom that dose not need s-off, i have [ROM] [OCT 10] KingCobra3D 1.4 | ROGERS RUU 1.20.631.2 | STOCK KERNEL via Turge
4. If u have wifi error, you'll need to flash this file http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=710252&d=1315178546 via monx® in CWM recovery
hope this helps.

While we are on the topic, I've been meaning to ask xda members a question in relation to the Telstra-supplied HTC EVO 3D X515a handset I own.
Currently, is it possible for me to revert to factory settings (Telstra factory ROM)?
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you in advance

Recently I got a EVO 3D from Japan.
But I can't unlock it with HTCdev.com, which says " Cid not allowed "
How to unlock it ?
I was kind of hoping the same thing.
Can we flash CDMA roms designed for USA into our AU phones? I would hate for it to be bricked.

1 just flash a new rom just stay with your gsm or cdma
2 look in the gsm area think you can do it
3 hboot 1.5 is cdma and you dont want to get it
4 lots cdma is mostly sprint ( i think) gsm is used in outher places just stick to the one you are on or bad things can happen (ok??)
5 i dont have a idea but i hope i helped some and i think my info is right but someone may be smarter than me lol
Sounds like your phone is gsm. Look in the gsm dev section for everything you need. Hboot 1.5 is a cdma hboot, so its not for your phone. All the info you need is here....search and read ....a lot.
We're comin from a pure power source.
Well first off all, I think the majority off the HTC Evo 3D are people from the USA so most people have the CDMA version, however Eurasia uses GSM and not CDMA so you need check in the GSM section for roms.
Downgrading your hboot you can do with this guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495657
Hboot 1.50 is for CDMA, you will have no trpuble downgrading you can S-off it.

Hello from Canada! This is my first post here, although I've been on this site or other sites like it trying to find out how to fix my problem:
I have my old Rogers GSM HTC EVO 3D, running HBOOT 1.53.0007 (S-ON) and Android ICS 4.0, and I'm trying to give it to my friend who's a little short on cash.
Because he's not on Rogers like I am, I need to unlock it so that it works with his carrier. I've spent roughly 4 hours looking up ways to unlock this thing, including S-OFF, Rooting, HTC Unlocking and more, and by now the details are starting to bunch up and get confusing.
I'm not inept, just confused :silly: I'm a desktop/server software engineer and I have both a Linux machine and a Windows desktop at my disposal - that being said, what would I need to do to get this phone unlocked? Would you be willing to list out a few steps, hints or tips to get this rolling? I'd be really greatful.
I don't need anything fancy in the end, just a working unlocked phone.
If have a few other questions too, if you don't mind explaining for me:
How is GSM unlocking related to rooting, S-OFF, and other stuff?
Is a specific version of android tied to HBOOT? As in, can I keep ICS and still run HBOOT 1.49?

If I understand you correctly, your phone is working fine and you need to unlock SIM? If that's the case you don't need to unlock your bootloader, just go to HTCdev site and find SIM unlock tool.
So, answer to your aditional questions is
1. No, you dont need s-off or bootloader unlock
2.H-boot is tied to a specific Androud version but 1.49.xxx h-boot works with all Android versions
