I have a SGH-I717and it won't start when I put a charged battery in it it flashes the Samsung logo twice and then it goes black please help I really love this phone and really want it to work....

Most likely ur phone is in a loop mode.. Is the phone rooted?

Does it continually flash the Samsung logo? Like it's restarting it's self? If so, it could be a stuck power button. Going to need more information from you op to get any help.
As asked above, is it rooted? If so what else has been done? Please elaborate for us.

my phone have the same problem and its rooted~! when i tried to get into recovery mode and cant access~ also when i press volume down button phone will vibrate

May be a bad flash.
All this might work but I highly suggest the latest cwm so when I mention downloading a ROM and gapps, you might want to get a zip file of the latest cwm and flash that first using Odin.
1. Pull the battery
2. Put battery back in.
3. Hold down volume up and down and power
4. Let go of power button after phone vibrates once continue to hold volume up and down.
5. Should now be in recovery
6. Wipe and format everything internal card/external card (this will get rid of everything so if you need to mount as USB and back up pictures to a PC)
7. Mount as USB storage and plug into pc
8. Download custom ROM and gapps using IE
9. Put custom ROM and gapps into external SD folder on phone
10. Safely remove device on PC, right click internal or external SD drive in my computer and select safe removal
11. Select Unmount USB on phone
12. Install ROM then gapps
13. Hope this helps.

[Answered] Went from 2.2>2.1 Rom. Now phone won't boot

Hey guys I know this wasn't the right thing to do but it happened....
I was using macnut R10 and was having calling problems, decided to restore a back up which was a bionix 2.1 rom... Because you cant go from a 2.2 rom back to 2.1 rom with a backup because the kernel wont work my phone now will not boot. It loads the both splash screens but gets stuck at the 2nd screen.
I have tried:
1: adb... no devices connected
2: put bionix w/ kernel on the sd card as a update.zip... rebooted the phone holding vol up/down it went into the stock style recovery and gave me the 4 options (reboot/flash update/wipe data/wipe cache) I tried to flash the update.zip and it says:
finding update
opening update
cannot open update (/sdcard/update.zip) no directory/file found
I also wiped data and cache after this and when I reboot (only the first reboot after this is done) on the 2nd splash screen it plays half of the bionix boot sound then cuts it off and just sits...
EDIT: *** just realized why its not finding the update.zip... because I put it on the ext sd card... but either way I cant adb to push it to the internal sd card
3: then I tried to flash back to stock with odin but cannot get into download mode... I plugged the usb in and held vol up/down as I powered on but it just brings me back to the stock recovery instead of download mode
If anyone knows what I can do to either flash a rom/kernel or get into download mode so I can just flash back to stock, I'm all ears for any suggestions
thanks a lot for any suggestions in advance...
Take battery out then plug in usb then hold volume buttons while you place battery back in you should be in download mode hope it helps
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
Try getting into Download mode using the GT-i9000 way, cause I once screwed my phone up and did that, just do a simple search on how to enter download mode the i9000 way

ahh thank god i think i was holding power when i put the battery in last time... now lets hope odin doesnt freeze lol

[Q] help me i think i change rom in wrong way now i cant on my phone

i rom my htc incredibles(rooted) with sense 3.0 rom with rom manager... it reboot and stuck on loading i on bootloader to restore and it does not work after that i factory reset ,but i still cant on my phone
can someone help me pls ..i'm so dead if my mom found out
ALRIGHTY so what you need to do is turn your phone off completely, if this requires a battery pull, that take out the battery and put it back in. Then hold the volume down button, and the power button, hold them until your phone starts, then use the volume buttons to scroll down to recovery, this reboot your device into recovery mode, then choose reset phone/factory default. Let it run, then, mount disk drive in recovery, download this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1191936 place it on your SD card, then install zip from sdcard, that should flash, the new ROM onto the phone, and you should be able to boot let me know if you have any questions.
thank and nid one more help
how can i mount disk drive using recovery

Copy in Recovery.

I have the CyanogenMod ROM running on my phone. When I go into recovery, and I connect the USB cable, there appears no memory card or internal memory in my PC. With other ROM they appear and so I can copy files there, even though I do wipe everything.
Can someone help.
Another thing, this recovery, has no option to power off.
Thanks.

Why wouldn't you copy files first before you enter Recovery Mode? Then you know for sure it will copy.
Some kernels do have the option to power off in Recovery, but you can press your power button for about 8 seconds to turn your phone off (it is also easier than to take off your battery).

Thanks for the reply.
In the desire I had in recovery could mount the memory card. This has also had a recovery that did this, but when I install the Cyanogen, it installs this recovery that does not.
I realize that I copy first, but it happened to me to wipe everything and then want to copy the ROM to the card and not leave.
I had to install another recovery through Odin.
Thanks.

[Q] Old school Note wont boot

I have a stock Note that gets stuck in the boot.
I had a charger cable that was not connecting properly and I was having charging issues. When my phone tried to boot it must not have had enough juice. Here's the recent history
within the last 2 weeks a few random reboots. the ones i remember most were when taking a picture after i took the picture the phone would reboot. there may have been 2 instances when it would reboot and then crash and reboot again and crash. i would remove the battery and restart and it would work fine.
yesterday It rebooted and the Samsung image came up and then the ATT logo along with the Att sound but after that nothing would happen. The Att image screen just stayed on and nothing would happen. i removed battery for a few minutes and retried and got same result. I was able to ( volume down + home + power and get the ": warning customer OS warning " but i could not get anything from ( volume up + home + power. )
today when i replace the battery and try to restart I get Nothing on the screen except the vibration that continues about every 2 seconds as long as i have the power button pushed.
I dont mind rooting if I have to but I assume it would need to boot from SD card or from computer. I do have a backup samsung phone if i need to install something to an SD card.
Thanks in Advance.

sounds like your phone was dirty flashed or something in the system was corrupted/faulty... hopefully not hardware. Are you using the wall outlet to charge with an official.. or somewhat similar, cable? If you can get into download mode (Power + Vol down at boot) .. no need to hold home on the the note i717 by the way.. if you can get into DL mode you can flash a custom recovery (Team Win) or whatever and get into a more robust recovery (stock sucks) by holding Vol up + down + Power at boot then releasing after seeing the samsung logo . . you could try going into the stock recovery and or the system and doing hard resets with wiping the data and all that good... fix permissions for sure
If you are able to get into download mode I would recommend trying to flash a recovery, getting in it.. wiping everything like 4 times and also going into settings and using the -rm way . . then if you wanna keep it stock, go to samsung-updates and get the latest and flash it through ODIN. or if you wanna get root and keep custom recovery just download a ZIP from the dev section and flash it from the recovery. All you gotta do there is put the zip file on the SD card and select flash ... make sure to wipe tho, avoiding the install file of course.
The vibrating every 2 sec sounds like youre not letting it charge right tho... pull the battery , wait.. put it back in. . plug it into a WALL . if it vibrates nonstop when you do that, or when the button is pushed... your button is stuck. may not feel like it but internally those things break. might wanna give it a lil love with the duster. these suckers are easy to open . .
if you need a jtag lemme know!
good luck
old school Note wont reboot
Can I flash a recovery if the phone is not rooted and if so can you tell me how.
If i understood your instructions below I am going to goto samsung-ipdates ( .com/device/?id=SG H-I717 ) and download to my sd card and then insert the sd card and (volume down + power ) and that is all ?
thank you for your patience

You don't need root access to flash a custom recovery, only phone in download mode and Odin on a pc.
I have the same exact issue today. I'm thinking my power button got bumped in my pocket weird and caused a catasprophe. I have a new battery and external charger coming in the mail. Hopefully that fixes me up.
My atrix 2 always had that issue.

To get a recovery on the phone you have to be able to get to download mode or into the rom. If you are in the rom, use GOO Manager app from the play store and have it install it. If you cant get into the rom and can just get into download mode (vol down + power) then you will have to use ODIN flashing tool. There are other ways but I recommend getting familiar with ODIN.
You can get ODIN flashable recoveries from teamw.in website... thats the Team Win website http://teamw.in. In odin you are gonna wanna load up the file in the PDA section.. make sure not to select anything other than what is already selected by default in odin.. make sure you have proper samsung drivers installed. if you are unsure, install samsung kies from the website (it installs drivers) or find driver package for samsung devices. With proper drivers installed, you should be able to run ODIN, as administrator, and then plug in the phone that is in download mode... and get a device ID to show up in the box. If you see the box with the device, place the phone down in a safe secure spot, make sure the file is in the PDA spot and then flash. Dont touch it until the box either says PASS or the device fully resets and reboots (sometimes the pass never comes or comes super late). The same procedure goes for downloads from Samsung-updates.com ... PDA slot, device in download mode, ODIN with admin privileges , plug it in, see device ID, put phone down, press flash, wait for the thing to give you a PASS. Flashing full roms takes ALOT long than just a recovery so just chill. When it reboots let it settle for 5-10 min, do a few reboots for good measure.
The instructions to flash a rom via the SD card were as follows: if you get into a custom recovery and have a recovery flashable ZIP file on the SD card that is a full rom which is compatible with the device.. then you can select the ZIP file from the SD card and flash it that way. . . ODIN flashable files come in tar.md5 or just tar. . you cant flash ZIP files from Odin.
To smooth over any issues the phone may have, I would flash a FULL, stock, OFFICIAL rom onto the device.. once booted , if you get that far... do factory reset + format SD.
When you're in download mode does your phone turn itself off quickly? Download mode only stays on for about 4 seconds for me. On normal boot I get 2 glimpses of the Samsung, then a vibration and nothing after that. If I plug into the wall I get eternal rhythmic intermittent vibrations.
Sorry for the questions. I only had this phone for 3 days before this happened so I'm a notenoob.

sounds like a stuck power button. May try and see if its stuck by pressing it a bunch to free it or tapping on the back of the phone where the button is

def a stuck power button.. slide your finger really fast back and forth on it to press and depress it quickly while trying to get it to boot . . . stop to see if it worked, if not keep on doing it till you get lucky.
if youre down to take the phone apart, which is very easy ... 7 or 8 small screws and a lil prying and you can get in there and clean the inside but the button and blast the thing with duster. . on the chip the button is really tiny and could use a lil unstickification im sure. . . duster. . and if youre way down flux remover :x
Thanks.
I took it apart yesterday and ran out of time. I have continuity across both pins on the board above the power button so I imagine you're right.
Thanks again.

No matter how many times I clicked and sprayed duster, I wasn't able to resolve the issue. Due to my lame soldering I used an ebay company for repair. If I am allowed to post the link, please let me know. $40 for the service.

Thanks in advice.
What recovery exactly ? In other words, we can't give you any idea of what you can possibly try next unless you tell us precisely what you did.

Perhaps a silly question, but was your phone definitely on 4.1.2 at the time?
Personally I prefer the root methods using Odin - you get a lot more feedback as to whether or not things are working.

Yes it was, but I did't notice that tutorial is for S2 I9100G, because mine is S2 I9100. By the way, is there a chance that usb jig could fix this? Because Im losing hope to start it manually..
You've flashed firmware for a different device, this is why your phone is dead. Take it to someone who does JTAG's, it may be JTAG'able. If a JTAG doesn't work replace motherboard - either a new one by Samsung service centre (expensive) or a 2nd hand one you source yourself & pay a local mobile repair shop to swap (cheaper).

Thank you! And what about usb jig, should I try it?
Of course, given they only cost a couple of bucks on eBay you don't have anything to lose. This might be the 1 in 10,000 where it works in this situation for whatever magical reason. But you do need to be realistic/manage your expectations & buy one expecting it won't work.
Since its dead/bricked, try what ever is neccessary to turn it on. Does the recovery mode work? If it does try to update/flash a stock official firmware for your phone. Do what ever is necessary or get ready to pay for some bucks at the local repair shop.
