I never used US phone plans and haven't yet used a smart phone.
The previous owner, who claims that he like iOS better and wants to sell his SC3. It is from Verizon.
What do I need to know when buying from a previous owner?
How can I make sure the phone is not locked or deactivated after purchasing it? Shall I take it directly to Verizon shop and have it checked?
You ate in the wrong forum, this is the i9300 forum...NOT the Verizon variant forum.
Also there isn't any need to post twice in Q&A and general

It is a SG3 from Verizon. The owner says it has been used for just 2 months.
Questions:
1. What is the specifications of Verizon SG3? Do they ever change?
2. Does the phone support networks other than Verizon? I am planning taking the phone abroad.
3. How will this work out for the original owner? I don't want to use Verizon, just want to use it as a media box. Will this make the phone locked up and have a bad ESN?
I mean: Does the owner needs to break his contract with Verizon in order to sell me this phone? I don't want to have anything to do with Verizon and I just want to use this phone as a camera and media box.
I don't want any complications or a locked phone after buying it.
I am new to smart phones and US phone plans. Please help.

Try posting in the correct section....this is the i9300 section.....NOT the Verizon model forum
There is no US Cellular forum, so I figured I would ask here.
I recently purchased a new Galaxy S4 from a friend who works at US Cellular. I have been using a Galaxy Fascinate which I flashed over to Straight Talk for about 3 years. I am planning on flashing the S4 over now as well.
Does anyone know where I can find a guide on how to do so? I am planning on keeping the same number, so I know it would involve cloning the ESN and all that, but I honestly can't remember how to even do it lol.
I know that for some phones / brands the process is different, so I'm assuming it isn't the same as how you do a Fascinate, otherwise I would just go find that guide.
Have found several people who know how to do it with Verizon phones but nobody seems to know how to do it with US Cellular? Sigh... I will pay money to get this done
I did a search and didn't find any threads that have answers (Nor any threads regarding my phone).
I very recently had to drop my contract with Verizon because they have just become way to expensive for the amount of money I bring in a month.
So, my question is: Is it possible to use my Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545) Verizon Contract phone with a prepaid service?
Because I really don't want to give up my S4 because I'm still quite in love with it and I know if I end up getting a really nice prepaid/no contract phone that, nothing would live up to it.
If it's possible could anyone explain what I would need to do?
If it's not possible, does anyone have any suggestions (I understand this isn't the correct forum for this particular question) for prepaid phones/services I should consider? As I've never had a prepaid phone before.
Thanks!

Will this be possible?
I would like to use an upgrade on my wife's phone on Verizon then take my N6 to Sprint.
I have reasons for this i will not go into but.... It essentially lets me get a subsidized phone though.
*EDIT*
DOH...
Thought this was the N6 forum.
My bad

I want to learn to root. I bought an unlocked Nexus One to try it on. But thought I'd ask if there's an easier phone to start with? Or is that one good? It's never been used. It's Android version 2.3.6. GSM... I have two phone numbers, Verizon unlimited grandfathered plan with a Samsung s5 & an AT&T Go Phone with a broken HTC One. I don't care which carrier I use & no problem to get another one if that's better. Any ideas? Bill
