[Q] Can't connect to the camera! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody,
You may have already seen this title so many times, and I have too when I was looking for an answer to my problem, though no luck in finding one.
I bought a Huawei G510-0100 a couple of days ago and for some reason decided to root it straight away. Before rooting everything worked fine, and I only did it in hopes of getting it a bit faster and getting rid of bloatware.
Anyway, I followed this guide I found to root the Huawei G510-0100 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315932 and it turned out fine, except for the fact that I now cant use the camera anymore.
I have tried
rebooting
taking out the battery for a couple of seconds and restarting,
clearing cache
deleting gallery.apk
flashing a more recent version, 4.2
3rd party apps like camera360 or snapchat
reflashing the firmware provided in the thread I just linked
and nothing works
I dont know if its something incompatible between the firmware and the phone, if I should just look for another ROM, but I havent had much luck finding custom roms or anything since this phone is not that popular.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance

This phone just came out. It takes time for developers to start developing. Saying that, there is no way to back up your current ROM as of now. That requires a custom recovery which has not yet been made for the Atrix.
OH, and about rooting, it won't brick your phone. I'm can't think of one phone that has got messed up from the rooting process. And if you need to unroot to "return it to stock" just unroot it. It's one of the features in SuperOneClick.
ok great thank you very much. just on a second thing, maybe if you know? i have a terrible problem with the phone. i got me a sim unlock code, that worked (can put any sim in as i l ike) but the thing is if i put a sim that is active (so it gets signal bars of my carrier) the wifi connection instantly stops working in goes into what seems to be some sort of scanning/disconnect loop. i can repair that only by hard resetting it with an old sim that doesnt get any reception, so that the wifi works than. oh and i can do calls and stuff with the working sim. so im terribly nervous right now. i found some things while googling that the wpa_supplicant is bugged on the stock 2.2.1 (what the phone is running apparently), so i tried to change the file (just did the things) and it didnt help, still the same issue. and i sort of have a problems since im now in europe and well cant really return the phone oh and otherwise the wifi works perfectly .. and another thing wifi wont work ever after inserting the working sim, even with the nonworking sim wifi still has the same problem.

[Q] Why no GSM detected on Vibrant?

This is the deal:
I bought my wife and I Vibrants back in February and from the minute I got it I started looking into updating from eclair.
I was following the info on xda after researching about rooting phones, so I rooted my phone using the Superonclick method. Just before getting ready to flash custom roms, I read that froyo was available through kies. So I did that. It worked well enough for me, so I updated my wife's phone as well and hers works beautifully. I also changed the home launcher to LauncherPro. love it.
Mine however has been going on the fritz. I'm in the middle of using an app or I'm doing nothing at but turning on my phone and the screen will be all black with nothing but the notification bar showing.
The media scanner is constantly running.
No gsm is detected.
I keeps vibrating after touching the screen.
No amount of turning it on and off gets it past that state.
It just randomly decided to start working on its own.
Any Ideas?
Should I unRoot my phone. I don't want to,
I'm still researching changing the bootanimation, (waiting for a Portal 2 theme, also researching how to do it myself).
SOS guys.
sorry if tldr.
I would suggest restoring your phone back to stock Via Odin, and starting fresh. The problem you most likely had is that you updated to Froyo through Kie's while your phone was rooted.
Or, at the very least do a factory reset on your phone.
But if you need to go the Odin route, just search the forum, can't miss it.
oh wow, I didn't know that was an issue updating while rooted. I must have missed something while reading (so many threads -_-).
Guess I have some more light reading to do...
thanks.
Did a little research, should I unroot my phone first before factory reset? or is there a method that will take care of removing the root?

[q] urgent need of help

Hey guys Im new to the forum, and new to android and I really need help. I bought an HTC one m7 today, used off kijiji, and it came with cynogenmod. While unrooting my phone and installing the stock firmware everything went smoothly until the end, I followed the guide, locked the oem, and installed from the rue file. I have a rogers htc one btw. After everything finished I went through the activation and to my disbelief my touch screen was barely working. It kept randomly clicking things in the middle, and I thought maybe after I restarted my phone it would be fixed. I restarted it, hard reset it, and even reinstalled from the ruu and it still isn't working. I figured if I was to reinstall cynogenmod than it would start working again, because before I uninstalled cynogenmod it worked perfectly. Can someone please help me because right now I want to cry like my phone is so hard to use right now, I can't even swipe down the notification bar. I've tried googling everywhere and I've found nothing. I've been trying to fix this for the last 4 hours
and guys it was perfect before I tried to unroot it, it was after that that all this started. Its a rogers HTC one, and the screens just going crazy like random apps keep opening and when i press back they open again. Does anyone know what I should do, I literally just bought this phone

Broken Dialer function, freezes phone

Hello,
My problem is very weird and i couldnt find any solution for it yet. Some time ago when someone was calling me i couldn't hear the voice and the caller couldnt hear mine, when i turned speaker on it was all fine. I tried to work it out by installing and uninstalling certain things in the phone and'ive come to the stage where if i try to call someone or someone calls me my phone freeze (nothing can be done) and then restart itself.
My current ROM is latest nigthly CM 12.1.
What could possibly cause this? I wiped everything possible like 3 times already, made factory resets, installed rom again and again, nothing helped..
EDIT: Ive tried installing different ROMS, CM11, CM12.1, Stock Rom, still same issue.
Loading the backup (5gb) of the phone before flashing it and doing all the stuff didn't help...
I had a similar issue on my old S4. Turned out to be one too many "drops" by my baby, cracked the circuit board behind the glass. This caused issues with calls not going through, cant't hear people, it disconnects by itself, sporadic reboots, some force closes, and eventually me trading it in for the S5..lol That was my 2nd replaced board in that S4 in as many months. Needless to say, my daughter does not play with daddy's new phone any longer..lol That was my experience, hope it helps. Good Luck!
Thanks for the answer, but unfortunatly i treat my phone pretty good and it would be a big coincidence if something mechanicly broke inside it, as i said it happened the same day as i uninstalled Hangouts and something else with Root App Deleter...

Camera and Mi Fit App won't work

I have two Galaxy S2's; an everyday one and a spare. Both were stock ROMs and generally do everything I want a phone to do.
Recently, however, I needed to install an app (Mi Fit) that needs Android 4.4 upwards so I tried installing a new ROM on my spare S2. I should say that this was an unused, out of the box phone and everything worked fine with the stock ROM.
Initially, I tried to install a custom 7.1 ROM and it worked fine except that Mi Fit crashed every time I tried to pair the Mi Band. Also, TomTom would not work and several other apps failed to work. So, I tried another 7.1 ROM and then several 6 ROMs all to no avail. I had several boot loop issues during this and an "almost bricked" phone that would only go into Download mode but got over all of them. I then tried several 4.4 ROM's but Mi Fit crashes still when trying to pair the band. Also, the camera crashes when trying to load and all other camera apps that I have tried crash as well. One camera app says that the external SD card is not allowing third-party apps to access it. However, I have tried a couple of patches to cure this and they say the card is fine.
I have successfully loaded custom ROM's on other devices and think I (more or less) know what I am doing but am really stuck on this one.
Any help gratefully accepted.

Disappointed no-one came to my aid but just to let you know I fixed the problem(s).

It's not ideal you were not offered any assistance but sometimes the issue is too niche or obscure for anyone to have any advice.
What I think would be nice is instead of just saying "I fixed the problem", you detail exactly HOW you fixed it so in future someone with a similar issue searching for help can benefit from your success. What do you think?
As you say, very niche problem so I didn't elaborate. All I did was went back to basics, read the "Android Hacker's Toolkit" book from Jason Tyler and worked through everything until the problem went away. Oh, and reading loads of stuff on here and elsewhere. Not all of it is true (shock horror) but all is now well - and I am not 100% sure what the problem was so won't add to the pool of less than accurate information caught in the web.
