Does Verizon have visual voicemail like sprint? If so how can i get it to work? I'm so sick of calling and putting in my password for every missed call.

Google Voice for sure, you can also set it up so it is incorporated into your Phone or Dialer app. Plus email and/or text messages of the transcription it's great.

Having issues getting it setup. Now I have a notification saying two unheard messages but *86 no longer works and when I call the Google voice number it says no messages. Guess I'll hafta look for some sort of Google voice instructions or guide or something.

I Am wondering if it is possible to turn and android phone with a bad esn into my house phone by using my wifi and a free voip app on the phone. What app would you recommend?

Theres an app my friend uses on his Xoom. I can't remember what it is off of the top of my head and his tablet is locked. I know you have to pay for calls after a certain point.

I have herd you can use sipdriod and I think Google voice and make it work. You will actually have a number for the phone for free over wifi.

Can you call for free over wifi?

It's called Groove IP. It works with your Google voice number. Get a free Google number and install groove Ip, sign on with your Google account and you're in business.

Sweet! I'll check it out thanks!

Tried groove IP. Its ok but sipdrioid is free and seems to do the same thing. I have Google voice and sipdroid and can make phone calls out with my Google number. But still wonder if it will work on a known activated phone because it seems to need the android phone number to link it to Google voice. Any thoughts.

It didn't ask me for my number, utter should only ask for your Google account info. Is Google asking for your number or groove Ip.?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
This is all it asks for...... I can send it to you but I don't know how to do it here
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Yeah the number is created by Google voice and all you do is link groove IP or sipdroid to Google voice.
Can't get Google voice to link to my phone. When I call the Google voice number it rings my house phone not my cell.

Wrong.
You can use your existing number.
Just download Google voice and log in.
It will ask you to do sprint Google integration.
At work I don't have any service but we have Wi-Fi.
I text using Google voice and make calls using groove ip all on by sprint number over Wi-Fi..

VVM doesnt work on the latest Jellybean roms. It keeps sending the SMS's letting me know I have voicemail then I have to call it to hear it. I installed Google Voice today and had to call Sprint to remove it because everytime someone called it would force me to listen to the message telling me who is calling then pressing #1 on the touch pad to answer the call. I hate it! I could not figure out how to turn the option off! If someone can show me how to remove that option I would love to use it. Thx
You have to go and log into your Google voice account from a webpage, then go to the calls tab, then turn off call screening

Thx for the info!!! Your great!!!!
So some finicky things have happend since I got my Note 2 last week.
First is that when I enable speaker phone, im muted and whomever I call can't hear me. I verified this using my wife's phone.
Second, I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus and a lot of the functionality of Google Now seems lost. For instance, if I say "text so-and-so" it wont do anythung but Google so-and-so...same thing with "navigate" or "take me to" and all other commands...
Did Samsung drop a deuce on Google Now so we'd be forced to use the crap-ball that is S-voice?
Let me know if any one of you has been having these or similar issues.
Also changed my vibrate notification to "heartbeat" but it only does it for calls, not texts.
Edit: running stock, unrooted

Haven't used the speakerphone yet but google now works just like with my Nexus.

wipe data factory reset from asr(android stock recovery).
I have that problem sometimes as well. "navigate home" it searches Google "navigate to (city name)" has worked well for me.

So I keep getting calls from this number that just seems to call even though I told them they have the wrong number. Some McDonald's that thinks I manufacturer the ice machine. They called 6 times in 10 mins. So has anyone used this call blocked that is built in our phones. I want to know if it works. I don't want to even see an incoming call on my screen or a voice mail notification if they call. Is this possible? If anyone has used this feature before could you explain how it works and your personal experience with it.
Thanks

You can log in to your Verizon account online and block numbers. Only lasts 3 months though, then you have to redo it.

Better yet just add the number as a contact and then there is an option to block all calls from that number.
