I am gonna be taking on a few people this week to teach ROM Building. It does not matter what level you are at. We will be using Linux and learning how to build basic ROMs using dsixda's android-kitchen and/or anything else you would like to learn or are interested in.
Samsung Devices Are Preferred (but any devices are welcome)
You don't need to know anything. You just need to be able to make a commitment.
The schedule will be worked out around your schedule.
I use GTalk/GoogleVoice/Etc.
I will be taking in the first 5. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.
Classes will begin in one week after today. There is a 1 week waiting period (to make sure your serious).
I have taught this class to over 30 people, and almost every one has started developing on their own.
Classes are FREE.
Post here for signups.
After the first 5 signup, you can be put on the list for the next training.
Training's last 2 weeks (or more if needed or special cases).
If you need to talk to anyone else who I have taught (to get a better idea or for reference, please ask me)

I would like to attend your class. I'm a noob for sure so be patient with me. I'm having a heck of a time trying to get my note 2 i317 to send mms and also hardly no signal. I've been up and down these threads and am still lost. That's why I figured I try your classes to give me a better understanding of what i'm up against. I got my phone setup through straight talk...My head is still ringing after 4 or 5 hours of searching. Thanks for taking the time to teach us a thing or two

I WILL LOVE TO GET INTO THIS CLASSES I did try reading a few tutorials here at XDA but gave up after several fails I do program mainly in c# but have some experience in other languages including Java.
If you have room for another or willing to expand your classes, plz count me in. I'm running Warp Sequent and my PC is all Linux mint. I have dsixda's kitchen and other apk tools with minimal knowledge on how to use them but high aspirations on overcoming that.

Okay, everyone who has Linux and has the experience with it let's get working on this.
Motorola has apparently released the sourcecode for the DX2. It's called the Motorola OSMC on sourceforge.
Here is the link: Motorola OSMC for the Droid X2
Get your environments set up and start poking around. If you need help setting up your development environment, ask. I don't have access to my personal laptop from work, so I can't help you during the day, but over this coming weekend (31MAR2012-01APR2012) I will edit this post with an update on setting up your development environment. It will be a generic setup as I run Fedora 16 and your Linux flavor will probably be different. You should be familiar with git, yum/apt-get, eclipse (possibly), bash & shell scripting, and compiling from source.
This is a WORK IN PROGRESS and will take time!
Please keep this thread clean for development use. Once we have something concrete, I will start a new thread for testing. Thank you all for your cooperation and assistance!
Ciao!
Setting up your Android repo for use and build environment. (LINUX ONLY!)
1. Go to the Motorola OSMC and click the Downloads link.
2. Click the Droidx2_VZW link.
3. Click the DTN_150.30 link.
4. Read the README.txt file and go to http://source.android.com/source/download.html to set up your repo (don't forget to download the files as well as outlined here: http://source.android.com/source/downloading.html.
5. Follow the directions exactly. For various Linux distributions, your commands will be different than what is listed in the HowTo on SourceForge.
Please note that this is in no way designed to be a tutorial. This is for developers only. Please do not ask questions if you don't know what you are doing. (Sorry to be a PITA, but I don't have time to answer questions that you should already know the answers to.) Also, please note that I am using Fedora 16 as my Linux distro, the SourceForge HowTo uses Ubuntu and Mac OSX.
(I will update this as I find information that is relevant to this process and kexec.)
Ciao! For now.
Reserverd number II for future use!

There will not really be any testing for "users" to actually do... This will require pretty in-depth knowledge of Linux/Android.
This is an attempt at getting the DX2 to boot a different kernel. Once we can get that kernel booting and stable, then it will be up to others, to build the ROMs. A custom kernel will allow the DX2 to be overclocked, run ICS (with the correct kernel, version 3.0+), and other fantastic things. So, don't expect anything spectacular out of this, even if it does work.
I don't mean to sound negative, however, I also don't want to get anyone's hopes up that I can work wonders. It will be up to others to take this farther, IF we can get it working.
As I stated in the OP, let me get a viable platform working and we will see where it goes from there.
Ciao!

HUGE Thanks to Erishasnobattery and Team BAMF - These guys are amazing. Simply amazing. If you like this rom consider giving back to Eris who has been amazing.
You may not under any circumstances use this or any part of this rom without EXPRESSED PERMISSION from Erishasnobattery.
Ahem. For those of you that don't know, I had a Rezound before. I gave that phone away because of the general douchery of the userbase.
I've been told it has improved, and some folks (from our own site) were generous enough to give me another to develop on. Hence, you're getting Paradigm. However, if the ***-baggery continues to surround this thread, I'll happily give the phone back and delete my source code.
Perhaps the thread was premature to begin with, but regardless, back-dooring someones File Hosting account is a pretty **** move.
When Paradigm is to BAMF standards, a new thread will be posted. Until then, knock it off.
Look guys, it was only a handful of people. I love the fact that you all are interested in the rom. I am upset, kinda pissed. I tried to do something nice and a few people ruined it. This rom is far from dead. Again thank you all for your support (pm's) I really appreciate it. -apophis9283

Doesn't exist....there's no step by step guide for anything as it varys slightly from device/ROM...not every ROM requires the same exact steps to be ported...a lot of the things you just have to experiment and find what works...the guides are meant to get you a starting point/something to work with -all that exist are general guides
Those first two xda result are the best guides you'll find...if you want to develop you have to be able to figure things out on your own...guides are great for reference...but that's it...
Im a senior in highschool that knew nothing about android a year and a half ago....so anyone can learn...but you have to put the effort in to figure things out yourself...and I'm not even a "smart" kid...I barely pull off a 3.0 GPA, took algebra 1 twice as i didn't pass the first year (currently struggling in algebra 2), in a intermediate English class (not workshop...but below a CP class) -basically what I'm saying is it doesn't take a genius, just the will and want to figure things out...I started off just adding apks to other people ROMs just for fun...then I moved onto adding tweaks others had created...then I moved onto zip porting (what you want to do) then onto source....it took about a year to get where I'm at now...
Quote from my math teacher "if you ask a question I'm not gonna spoon feed you, I'll ask you questions to get you on the right track, but its up to YOU to figure the problem out, its up to YOU to look at notes or the book. YOU have to take responsibility for your learning, not me" so I won't spoon feed you, and no one else will...we will try and get you on the right track...but in the end its up to you to figure things out...we won't do all the work for you

Devs are already working full bore. Jaime is working on 3 or 4 roms? Unless a new dev (or one from the rom that you want) steps up it probably isn't going to happen. I'd recommend either asking the Devs in the other thread about making it quincyatt friendly or it may be time to find the online tutorials to learn to make your own roms. We're always happy to get different roms

There's plenty of recognized contributors that are children.
How about you take the summer vacation and study up?
You could be our next elite recognized developer if you apply yourself

When I was your age you know what I was doing? I had my nose buried in a computer learning all I could. Hell my nickname used to be Captain Dipswitch because if I found a dipswitch, more than likely I'd mess with it. Knowledge is gained by learning and doing. Now I'm the security Admin for a relatively large company because I loved to play with computers. If this is something your passionate about, like studacris said you could be the next elite recognized developer and even more. Never sell yourself short and never tell yourself you can't do something because with enough motivation you can.

Ooh I would have so used Captain Dipswitch as my xda name. Lol. Unlike you guys ..personal computers were not available to me at that age. That would have been about 1974. My first experience with one was at work in about 1997. Someone had to teach me how to get started. It was so alien to me.
But by all means ..learn all you can. Kids today have huge opportunities compared to when I was growing up.
Anybody wanna play kick the can?

Can you say scam. 50 plus pages offering the very same file links for 100's of devices. Click to accept offer to continue type links. Just stick to the devs here on the forum.

I don't know if this is legit, but that website is terrible. You have to go through advertising to download the files. And he intentionally split the file into 3 parts so you have to go through more adverts.
Scam!!!

Devs are working hard to build it, but there seems to be issues building it from source and flashing it. Some Quincyatt users tried to flash it when a dev build it, but failed to flash. Be patient . You might have to wait until February or earlier, because other devs that make roms for other phones are already building Lollipop 5.0.2, which is major fixes,

Lol, well devs are working really hard. It isnt easy to build roms from source. It also wasnt easy to build KatKat roms from source for quincy because devs say there always was a problem build roms from source for us . Give it time, it will come..

What kind of proof do we have that we aren't waiting on a ghost?
There is no proof. The original Note is a very aged device now, but very reliable. As reliable as the talent of the developers that exist on XDA. You only have a few choices.
Trust and be patient
Develop yourself
Buy another device.
Don't be so quick to throw the first option away. Sorry, I haven't looked at your stats, but I have been here a while with several devices. One thing I have learned, this device won't die.
Good things come to those who wait. They said the Note wouldn't get JB. They said it wouldn't run KK.

Was using a Note 3 for a while. Awesome device, but because of the locked bootloder and the fact that safestrap is no longer supported, I just went back to the Note. I'll settle for a slower device as long as I have the flexibility to customize it. I have a hard time understanding why OEMs force consumers into using their ROMs.
P.S. - It's Motorola

That's all fine and dandy, I just wish these mystery developers, could at least Identify themselves and make a note (no pun intended) that they do in fact have intention on porting 5.0 to the note, and are in fact at some stage of development (no eta required). I prefer to have this than to having someone, who isn't claiming to be one of these "undercover developers", tell me "yeah someone is probably working on it, and it's probably going to be out in February." for all I know you may be getting your information from talking to a horses butt hole (no flame intended). Even a link to an non-credible noob from some backwater internet forum saying he's in the beginning development stages would be better than "yeah someone is probably working on it, and it's probably going to be out in February."

I'd encourage you to check out the "AT&T Galaxy Note I717 Android Development" and take note of some of the users who have contributed in the past. Those individuals would most likely be building for our device.
Well, I am sorry that I am not your developer in shining armor. Its people like you and your lack of patience which keep developers lurking in the shadows.
No flame intended.
Why don't you try yourself then?

Lol to tell you the truth, I didn't care who or when 5.0 was coming out, I wouldn't have cared up until someone deliberately said:

Which was fine with me, but he DID make it seem like he knew of something going on behind the scenes, so the "proof" I wanted in this case would be a link to some sort of bug report thread or actual development thread. (I wish you could quote me on badgering anyone for a release date LOL) and I voiced this into a reply to the so condescendingly put:

Like we are an angry mob begging you (someone who is not developing for the note, or knows nothing of the matter) for the release date like our lives depend on it.
Ps. I would hardly call what KitKat does on the Note, "running".

Lulz. I've had a great experience with select KK ROMs, particularly Unofficial AOKP and SlimKat. Maybe you just need to know what you're doing. Just passing by to say that and off with you now.
P.S. Thanks devs

Really? I've been running Kit Kat on both of my notes since release! At release there was some bugs, but I'd say sounds like you haven't tried too many distros of it lol! Any newer CM11 runs pretty damn good. And Liquid runs well! I personally found BrokenOS to be practically flawless and I'm running the newest release of Spirit ROM right now and damn its killer! So I'd love to know how you can say Kit Kat is hardly running? LMAO!
