I have seen many Thread about I9000 trying to convert T959 modem to use the T-mobile network. What i couldn't find is from T959 to I9000 to make it to the international version.
I have the T-Mobile Vibrant T-959 unlocked with ECLAIR. I know that the network band of this phone is 850/900/1800/1900. i found the result according to Samsung website. I know in another post it was said that it is hardware issue but the hardware is 850/900/1800/1900.
I live in the United Arab Emirates and the network band here is 900/1800 similar to the European or Asian Network. but the T-mobile uses 850/1900 so i couldn't get 3G or any kind of internet connection here, unless i find a WiFi connection. I need the 3G connection on the move.
I want to know is there any way to change the the modem band to I9000? so that i can use a custom rom like Darky which is Stable according to many users.
I would never be using the phone on US T-mobile or any Network in the US.
You might think this Question is redundant and has already been answered but i search every where but it comes back empty.
Your feedback would be highly Appreciated!!!!
I don't think you can actually change your phone's bands.
However, an unlocked US T-Mobile Vibrant should be working on 3G. According to Wikipedia, the two 3G networks in UAE (du and Etisalat?) use the 2100MHz band, which should be supported.
Thanks for the reply, i tried everything but nothing worked.
One more question to ask, what will happen if i flash i9000 rom and radio on a T-mobile phone. Or should i just flash it with a T-mobile rom without changing the radio, and if the sim gets locked I will just unlock?
this is the final question to ask.
Don't know if this helps but I use my unlocked vibrant in the uk, so if European bands are the same...it should work.
You can change roms and I would recommend you should but you can't use an i9000 modem.
Do you have a Sim with a data plan?
Can you text or make calls?

Yes i can make a calls and send Text but no internet connection. I just bought data plan for my sim.
So i Should get Vibrant custom rom not the I9000 rom?
And thank you Guys for your replay, I hope this tread will help other confused users on XDA
I would like everyone to know that it is not good thing to change there modem from T959 to i9000 your phone will brick never do it.
I just flashed a new rom from Trigger 3.2 which upgraded to Froyo 2.2 and i put in the settings for the Access Point and it works perfectly.
So if you have any difficulty accessing 3g or HSDPA connection on android 2.1 just upgrade it and it will work.
How did you conclude you're not on 3G? Do you get EDGE or GPRS internet connection?
So i need the 1800 mhz how can i do?
Flash a i9000 modem and see if it works.

There is the possibility to brick the phone?
Hello Everyone
I don't know if this has been asked before, but I searched and found no answers. Basically, Me and my dad want to switch from Rogers to Mobilicity (which uses the 1700/2100 frequency), so we went to the mobilicity store and tried my dad's galaxy s2 lte (rogers version) with the mobilicity sim card, and the phone didn't detect mobilicity's network (it goes into Rogers roaming mode i think). So I started looking around, and I found this advertisement on Kijiji Calgary about modifying the S2 LTE to work with Mobilicity's frequency. So, Is there a way I can convert/modify the phone by myself to work with the AWS 1700/2100 frequency? I assume the phone has to be rooted first if such thing is possible?
Thanks!
I don't think so as it's HW related.

i have the tmobile version (SGH-T989) flashed to the Rogers radio... and now i'm able to connect to RoBelLus
and when i'm fed up w/ their high prices, I can just flash back a Tmobile radio and go with Wind/Mobilicity
it works for the ATT Skyrocket & Tmobile version of the S2 ... i'm not sure if it will work with the Rogers one... do some research, you should be able to do it
PM me if you some help researching... if i can't get u the answers, i might be able to guide you to the right threads
I just flashed my rogers lumia 920 using navifirm with the .1002 ROM because .1001 was not there. Well, phone is working fine, BUT...this new firmware disables AWS 1700!!! My Wind SIM is only connecting in AWAY mode, and when I insert a Rogers SIM, and select manual network selection, both Wind and Mobilicity have disappeared! Only Fido, Rogers, and Bell are showing!! Radio version and everything else is the same! Does this mean Rogers crippled the firmware?!

Probably something else. Their website list support for AWS band, not unlike AT&T which Nokia did not list any AWS at all. Just a curious, did you have your phone unlocked or still lock? Try to determine if it still using AWS when you put your Wind sim into it by following this

I doubt it as I am running .1002 and I can see WIND and Mobilicity in the network list. I haven't tried to connect to WIND as I dont have SIM card for them.

Phone is still unlocked..and wind sim is only connecting in Away mode. It's not even connecting to 3g. When performing a manual network scan, it shows three networks, all titled (Wind Away).
I had flashed an AT&T ROM a few days ago for kicks, and reflashed the rogers one. Could flashing the AT&T rom have permanently disabled the radio for AWS?

That maybe the trigger. Sometime flashing another rom over another will leave some files behind.

Anyone know how I can view the files and delete the one that triggered disabling the radio?
Try doing a hard reset. I know with the old WM phones the rom cookers would ask you do a hard reset after flashing. Or try flashing again.

Tried all of that. I cannot believe how much AT&T crippled the firmware! Even the radio version, firmware, everything is the same as on my other Lumia 920, the one which I mistakenly flashed an AT&T rom and back to Rogers ROM has lost AWS 1700

AT&T. Rethinking possible ways to screw everyone. Even if you bought your phone somewhere else.
flashing ATT firmware on Rogers Lumia 920 WON'T disable AWS1700. i do have a Rogers Lumia using on T-Mobile/ATT and flashed an ATT ROM and i still get AWS1700 on T-Mobile. i have SG Note2 on TMo and verified that my area only uses AWS1700 on 4G not the refarm 1900. my wife's iphone 5 only gets EDGE on T-mobile when i put my TMo SIM in, so refarm 1900 does not work on my area.
maybe reflash it with Rogers .1001 and then .1002 after.

Where can I find Rogers .1001? I have it on my other phone, but cannot find it on navifirm. My other Lumia is just fine, but this one screwed up after the flash, and I don't see any AWS 1700 network at all.
I'll just copy what I wrote on WPCentral over here:
"I have a Dev 920 which worked on AWS 1700. Then it was flashed to AT&T which disabled the AWS 1700. Then it was flashed to Rogers which you'd think would bring back the AWS 1700 but it did not. I cannot flash it back to Dev firmware because Nokia doesn't have it available.
It seems AT&T firmware cripples the AWS 1700 permanently somehow. And the Dev phones are RM-820 which are North American phones."
Although I also flashed to .1002 since that's what's in the Nokia database. Someone find me the .1001 Rogers and I'll test it out.
I have similar experience on this. When I flashed Lumia 710 (US TMO version) after sending a wrong update (yes, I've bricked it by sending wrong firmware), I've recovered it by uploading Rogers' image. That worked fine. I then revered it back to TMO image. The device, 710, works great and everything. It even has TMO boot screen and applications. However, my setting/about screen still says "Carrier: Rogers CA SW variant ID226 v.01".
Perhaps there's something that stays behind even after FW flash.
To enable AWS
Try flashing RM-821 VAR EURO1 DEVELOPER firmware on your device. I was skeptical flashing RM-821 firmware on RM-820 but it enabled AWS. My developer device is back to running on HSPA on T Mobile ! (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097815&page=4)
Hi All. Just got my hands on AT&T Galaxy Note LTE i717. So far, its Unlocked and rooted through Odin. Going to to CWM 10 soon. Projecting a ParanoidKANGdroid 2.3.3 rom too (or any other rom).
But my main concern would be, with my locality in mind (i'm in singapore):
1) Would I be able to clear all AT&T apps? Meaning is it a must for me to have at&t apps inside to keep the phone working?
2) Would the phone work in singapore after flashing? Currently, it is working fine unflashed and in AT&T stock.
3) would my LTE function work? (It does not have a mini sim card slot but a normal slot)
I've searched through but I might have missed some useful links. Apologies if I do. Do guide me to the right path if possible.
Thank you.
If you're going to CM, why are you even asking about AT&T apps?
As for working in Singapore, you'll have to compare frequencies between your carrier and AT&T's. And the i717 doesn't have a microsim.
You should be fine!
If you install a custom rom it won't have at&t bloat, or apps. You can download them if needed.
Take notice of what modem you're on now. It's in settings - about phone - baseband version. If it's working fine make a note of it. Installing custom roms shouldn't change your modem. I'd find a downloadable zip of it for peace of mind. Updating thru kies can change the modem. So if something goes wrong you can revert back to stock and still have the modem you desire.
Thanks lots guys! appreciate much!

There's a galaxy note released for the Singapore market. It's called the n7005.
Novena is a Rom based on that firmware btw...and since its Singapore Rom, no AT&T apps.
As far as running an aosp Rom, no AT&T apps are needed, and as long as you copy down your apn data before flashing just to be safe, there's no reason you shouldn't get lte,
Singapore uses the same lte bands that American carriers use.

I don't mean to contradict you sir, but are you sure about the LTE? according to this list of LTE networks AT&T uses 4 and 17 and Singapore uses 3 and 7.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Those numbers are bands and frequencies just for the LTE network but the frequencies are the same 900 and 1900 mhz for the 4G network. So, like a lot of at&t users, 4G is the more common network in Singapore.
Gotcha, the post said lte so I figured that's what we were focusing on, not 4g.my bad!

Hello All,
A family member recently purchased a VZW S5 and now I've helped to move them from VZW over to T-Mobile.
The phone is factory unlocked, and with the addition of the T-Mo SIM + the T-Mo APN, everything is up and running.
The key issue I am seeing is the signal strength vs. that of a true T-Mobile Handset. Example, in my house, I have 4 bars on my T-Mo Galaxy Note 3 but 1 bar on the VZW Galaxy S5. Additionally, it's constantly switching from LTE to H+ to 3G.
I've rooted the S5, custom ROM'd it, and even did the mod to unlock all of the different LTE bands but this hasn't helped.
The phone was running the latest FW from Verizon with the most recent Modem, but I'm wondering if there is another modem I could flash that is T-Mobile oriented that may help to improve the service.
Please let me know, thank you!

My understanding is that the phone simply doesn't have the hardware for all of the bands. It's not as simple as just flashing, to my knowledge. For example, I don't think the phone supports 2100 which is used by Tmobile in some areas.
I just went through the same process. Enabled the bands, tried different modems, no improvement. Finally, bought a T-Mobile S5 and sold the Verizon. Performance is far better, plus it supports Wi-Fi calling.
