Hai all !
I've got an app I'm trying to uninstall, and it won't do it - the uninstall button is greyed out. Instead it asks me to update the application - which fails every time.
I can't use other apps to uninstall the program, because apparently it isn't even installed on my phone. I'm stuck with my market displaying this app and prompting me to update it, and I can't do anything!
Any solutions please?
What app, which rom?
It's called "talking tom cat" and I'm using VillainROM 12
EDIT: Nevermind I've done it!
Not sure why but even though I installed the Amazon App I'm unable to update it, I cannot press the install, nothing happens when I tap the Install button, I can cancel it but not install all other apps are installing without a problem. Allow installation of non-Market apps is checked. Any else having this prooblem?
Tried a restart then try again? Are you rooted?
Ok I have a Nook Tablet 16gb and it will no longer install apps. It is stock ROM unrooted and a app was downloaded from the B&N market. It took a LONG time to download (large app apparently) but then it wouldn't install. It just said 'Installing" under it for several minutes and usually installing only takes a second or two. Then I got a message "Activity installer (in app installer) has stopped would you like to Wait or Force Close" I tapped force close and didn't think anything of it. But then the next day I tried to install another app and it does the same thing. Downloads fully then fails on install, although I don't get that popup again saying the activity installed stopped. I powered off and back on to no avail. I archived (removed) a few apps that were installed before but they won't reinstall either.
Any ideas what I can do? Can I fix this without wiping the whole thing? I assume if I rooted it then I could fix this? Any suggestions are appreciated.
You can try backing up all your files not backed up on the Barn and Noble cloud then preform a factory reset. Hold down the nook button when you power on your device.
All your books, apps etc are stored on your account.
Sign into your account when you reboot and all your books, apps etc will redownload.

I've got an app that is listed as 'disabled' in application manager list, but when I select it to try and re-enable the button is grayed out and says 'disable' on it as if it was never disabled to start with.
How do I un-stick this app? TIA
What app is it?
You should be able to use any app or file manager to uninstall it.
Do you have root access?

The basic 'email' app. I had originally disabled that and 'exchange services' way back at the beginning (root required) because I wasn't using anything but gmail and was paring down on apps as much as possible. Now I have a reason to use it, and while I was able to enable 'exchange services' again, the other one just seems stuck. After the update to ICS and then JB I never installed root, and with the OTA updates it seems this particular app has gotten into a bit of a mangled state.

Well you can try installing them again. I'm going to assume you're on the latest 4.1.2 version. So here is the email apk and here is the exchange apk just in case you want to reinstall both.
Or you could gain root access and use an app to unfreeze them that way.
To root the stock 4.1.2 rom
1. Use Odin 1.85 in Admin Mode for Windows users.
2. Install TWRP 2.5 via PDA settings.
3. Reboot phone into Recovery.
4. Install SuperSU via the Zip.
5. Reboot phone and viola You're rooted!. SuperSU is there and works.

Grr. I downloaded the email apk and tried to run it, and it just failed with 'application not installed'. Apparently I buggered myself up good - I'll have to go the root option, any tips/tricks to keep in mind before I do that?
I tried to root my Lenovo K910l using Kingo Root (yes I am a noob). The app could not root the phone but it ended up installing an app 'superuser'. Now this app won't uninstall. When I open this app it shows the phone is "not rooted" and asks me to "root" now. When I tap the link, it asks me to download Kingo Root app which again fails to root the phone. This app has taken over the control of the phone and I want to remove it, but no success. I have tried to factory reset and even formatted the phone but to no avail. The phone isn't even booting up in normal recovery which I suspect is due to this superuser app. I am thoroughly confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
try these
1. trying to root any other app and get the root permission for rom tool box lite. (install this app from play store). now open this app and you can easily uninstall any app.
2. thats not work? search with malware using any antivirus app. this superuser is the one of the type malware. then you can find and erase with the app
3. full format with sd card and internal memory or install new update frimware using official site :good:
Thanks for the suggestions, but I tried to root it again with the PC app, and then tried to uninstall it later. That somehow worked. But unfortunately I ended up with my phone unrooted again and in the process my phone is still not booting up in recovery mode and I can no longer see it or access it through my PC.
