Hi guys and gals,
I am considering this phone. Just need the last piece of information.
Could any of you owners try if you can run Bluetooth and WiFi (in b/g mode) at the same time without interference?
I have a note 1 at the moment and this phone can't stream music from Internet radio to my BT speaker (ZiiSound) without skipping all the time.
Can you please test listening to Internet radio while using BT stereo headset/speaker?
Much appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks.

My WiFi is from 5 Ghz, 5180 Mhz Channel 36. Link speed 150 Mb/s must be N. But My router have also a network from 2,4 Ghz.
...................
Now I'm connected to another net from 2412 Mhz Channel 1, link speed 54 Mb/s. Work also very good whitout stops. 54 is G.
I use the Wifi Analyser and the Network Info II from Play Store to see all about network.
Good music on 2,4 Ghz also.
Edit: Changed from 2,4 Ghz net to 5 Ghz net, and music not stoped. The Sky.Fm must have a big buffer to this changes.
I was asking because many devices have problem operating BT and WiFi at the same time.
Great, thank you! You have been most helpful.
Looking forward to this phone

I like try news Rom's from Sammobile.
It's my hobby.
PS: No more THANKS please. Obrigado (Thanks in Portuguese).
On the local forum there are numerous people who flashed roms on their Megas through Odin, so i would say it works.

Ok, it took some time to check with the people who have done it. Basically, it's very simple - you just need to select the *.tar.md5 file in PDA in ODIN and flash.. That's it.
Bluetooth disconnects when on Wifi
I just recently purchased the LG HBS730 and now whenever i have them connected to my I527 mega the wifi disconnect, and also the sound quality is horrible. The music buffers etc. I have searched google the XDA site and looks like the only remedy is in the new radios loaded with Kit Kat 4.4. However I can not lose my root ability. And since there is not root for Kit Kat yet are we stuck????? Is there no one who has posted a fix for this!
The 5ghz WiFi band might be the only solution. Can you try that?

is it possible to build an app that allows streaming audio over FM?
No need to build one. Just get a license from the FCC and a high powered fm transmitter and hook your mp3 player up to it. Done deal
Seriously though, I don't see how.
doesn't need THAT much power
just trying to transmit to a car stereo without the need for cable... like for stereos that don't have an aux input... i figured mt4g has the capability to receive fm frequency and has an radio app with tuner, that maybe it can also transmit... so, it doesn't really need to be high powered... were you thinkin i was tryin to broadcast for an entire city or something?! uh, no. thanks for your input anyway.
I remember a buddy having a phone that could do that a few years back. You'd set the radio to a certain station, then bam music would play through that station. I'm just not sure if that's hardware or software related. An app like that would be cool though.

seriously? ever hear of a bluetooth fm transmitter? they sell them everywhere for under $20.00. Pair your device set a radio channel (there are usually several to choose from) done and done
I'm confused. Maybe the OP should be more specific in what he/she is trying to accomplish. What I thought you meant is obviously not how the other posters understood you.

He is wondering if he would be able to broadcast a short range FM signal so he stream the audio from the phone which could be picked up by the car radio. I have no idea whether or not the myTouch is capable but that sure as hell would be a sick thing to have.
Ah. Short range. He didn't say that. That's why I said no. I assumed he meant long range. There is already a built in FM radio so where is the question?
Hence my original post.

I'll back this one!
I want to know if its possible to via FM for other reasons other than that mentioned already. What media can be streamed is my question and what volume (not meaning sound) of data transfer can this handle? e.g. would it be possible to stream video to a device say 200m away? I know it would have to be very low wave so the base band would have to be in the lowest frequency range possible.
AND if not, then is it possible with say a paired device. Say a FM transmitter blue toothed to the device to stream content recorded from say the camera to a small TV within range (200m or so)? It would not need to be high def or anything just to be able to recorded-> stream-> view
I bought a FM transmitter from Walgreens for like $20 and it let's me play my music on my phone through my radio and acts like a hands free device when someone calls.

FM Transmit:
I get asked this question regularly, and my response is generally: "Forget about it, almost no Android phones connect the FM Transmit pins anywhere useful".
But a few months ago a helpful person sent me an HTC FM transmit app. Apparently it was meant for the T-Mobile/HTC Mytouch 4G, and apparently that device is supposed to have the transmit pins connected.
I have no idea (yet) if that is true. Didn't work on my Desire HD or Desire Z though.
I'm sure this will only work on ROMs that use the Broadcom proprietary Bluetooth stack and that have sufficient parts of Sense present. IE, a stock or stock derived ROM. It probably requires Froyo or GingerBread. (That said, if the hardware is there, it's possible to make it work on any ROM, more or less.)
If anyone has or can load such a ROM and wants to try, and will commit to reporting their results, email me at mikereidis AT gmail.com and I'll send the APK.
Thanks...

No way in heck that app will EVER work on anything but ROMs with the Broadcom proprietary Bluetooth stack. Probably needs Sense too, and other HTC specifics.
I welcome all reports, but reports are almost useless unless you can specify the ROM at least, and if you know about Sense or Broadcom BT on that ROM.
I FINALLY got my myTouch 4g today. Transmit app doesn't work with GB 2.3.4 Software 2.19.531.1 it was shipped with.
EDIT: Confirmed working with stock Froyo 2.2.1.
Not very powerful, and you can hear hiss with antennas right next to each other. RSSI on another phone is 27, while the strongest broadcast station is 57. EDIT: Can get RSSI over 40 by wrapping antennas over their length.
Low performance might be one reason it was canned. I see this in logcat:
09-28 03:24:53.753 D/FMRadio_TxTuner( 1678): [setBCMTxPowerLevel]+0
I don't know if "+0" is the highest power, or just a "nominal" power level. I'll find out eventually.
Need to crank music all the way up on the transmitting phone.
----
MyTouch 4G is a pretty rare phone with FM transmit. The only other confirmed Android devices with transmit are a few Japan market Sharp units.
"Hello this is my first and I know this is a noob question, but I couldn't find the answer on here completely. Right now I am trying to tether the Atrix to an N7 via bluetooth. Im running Jokersax's CM9 roms that works great. Wi-Fi is perfect, but now sure what I am doing wrong to set up bluetooth tether. Can someone tell me?
Below is a screen shot of what it looks like when they are paired. The reason I want to do this with bluetooth instead of wi-fi is a save a bit of battery life, and next year I'm sure having a rogue wi-fi hotspot will be useful."
Never mind finally figured it out, had to do more than pair it. Oh and a shout out to Jokersax for making a great rom, oh and good luck with unpacking it is something.

Sorry for the lateness. Well what I did on my phone was go to settings-> wireless & networks-> wireless & portable hotspot and checked Bluetooth tethering. As as your phone and N7 have Bluetooth turned on as well as paired you should be fine. Oh and the final thing to do on your N7 is go to settings-> Bluetooth and select your phone that is paired (click the icon that is to the right of the name) click on the check mark for internet access. Your phone should say tethering or hotspot active.

On the other hand, other phones can connect to my home wireless modem
Someone told me it's just a hardware problem: simply Htc hero is too old
Can someone explain it to me ????
Probably has to do something with Wi-Fi modes, b/g/etc, i dont know what are supported by hero but it might be too old to support newer ones
I've tried any kind of regulation: from 11 to 14 channels, but nothing changes..

I really dont know, try setting your router to mixed mode, b/g/n at the same time, that is how my router is set up
Perhaps a Radio update could solve your problem
We Got the Same Problem
I have the same problem and its the Radio for Sure there is nothing wrong with your wifi ,,, The Only Rom that i sow support any kind Is Elelinux-7.2-Hero-v3.9 its very good Rom but i was feel its slow on Hero that why i change it .. Flush this Rom to your hero and you see that you can connect to any thing
the radio version I've installed is 6.35.29.06 : the latest released, I know, for GSM hero...
Long time ago, I've tried to install Elelinux ROM, but it wasn't really customizable like other ones so..
I don't know if it was able to pair with wifi modem
Now I'm trying the january 2013 nightly version of Cyanogenmod... I've tried for long time Shpongle: good ROM, but at the end it went instable (or maybe my Hero is too old for apps I've installed)
Tried again Elelinux ROM just to see if it is possible to pair with my home modem... nothing to do!!!
So I think I'll go back to Shpongle (even if it hasn't italian language: just for T9 in sms, you know..)
Thanks to you all, guys

I need you help please. The much maligned skype mobile is one of my fav apps. It does not work. I wonder if it is a device ( specific Note 2 ) or is a ROM issue, AOSP vs official.
Can someone try to install it and see if they get same error? See attachment. I have tried on beans version 2 ( I am running it) , no avail. I have also tried the app on a stock S3. My question is can you get to the log in screen. The app needs verizon data connection won't work on WIFI or other networks.
Much appreciated,
Abe

You are right about the video. The adv of the other one is that it works with Bluetooth and it uses a Verizon phone number.
Very useful on the go. I can get the thing to work without a hitch. The other skype not so much. Too bloated. Nice if I use it with video on wifi or
somewhere where the LTE is good. On top of that the video app uses 10Meg/min. A lot.
Thanks for trying.

This one is from their store too. It used to work. Works fine on my nexus ( 4.1.2 Slim Bean)
Like I've said this one I highly recommend it when on the go why:
Does not uses data- but in network verizon minutes ( zero) - due to this calls rarely drops
Has Bluetooth support.- cannot get it (BT) to work on the other on any of my 5 android devices.
I use the other app with great pains when I am in my car for example. For voice only the BW requirement for skype is to high. When moving this leads to chipmunk sound and breaking voice. I am in a very good LTE area but skype it is what it is.
Skype is my fav app because it bundles ppl from desktop to mobile platforms and that everywhere in the world and I can do that while on the go.
I am at times in metal buildings where the signal is poor. The verizon skype always works the other never.
Thanks,
Abe
When I got the Mediapad X1 (503L) a couple months back it came with 4.2.2. and the wifi and cell signal were pretty weak and inconsistent. They were workable however...
I upgraded to 4.4.2 (B007) and it seemed to be a little better for a month or so, however lately in the last week or so it had seemed to take a downward spiral. The Wifi is connected but no data gets transferred at all. I have to put it in airplane mode to get the wifi to "reset"
Any one else notice this? This phone is great, but the wifi and 3G/4G stuff just seems to stall and hang way too much.
I'm located in the US on AT&T.
In my experience B006 was best for gsm signal. At the price of no 5GHz wifi.
2.4GHz works fine in both versions for me. But then I am in Europe................ .........

I can understand issues with 3G and 4G in USA as the phone is made and tested in China with different frequency needs,
But Wifi is the same everywhere isn't it?
No it isn't.
Until a few years ago you had to select USA, europe, or Japan when setting up a wifi network. This process is automated now based on network parameters "spied" by the modem.
Huawei implements this poorly or not at all on their chinese market devices, including the international 501L not intended for the US market.
The good news is: it isn't like it won't work at all. Sometimes it just helps changing the channel. The wifi analyzer app is a great tool...... .. .. ... ....
Otherwise one would have to extract the modem apk of a dedicated us provider from the rom.
Great information!
I'm using a 503L, Wifi in the US is very hit or miss. (Which makes sense now reading your post)
How do I get the phone to use a certain channel? That's up to the Wifi access point isn't it?

I used the app wifi analyzer to see which channel is the best.
And yes, then you change it in the router.
Phone is really getting bad now with signal, several times a day now The Wifi is connected but won't actually transfer any data, the same with 3G/4G. Sometimes even putting it into airplane mode doesn't fix it and I have to do a full reboot.
The other big problem is app being shut off automatically in the background. I use Google Hangouts and Line to chat with people and after a while those processes get closed and won't give me notifications until I manually open the app which seems to restart it.
I really hope there is a fix in the works (I'm on the B010 update)
The 4.2.2 seemed to be more reliable for signal issues and never closed apps in the background, however the performance of 4.2.2 was terrible...
Just a warning for any folks in the USA that are considering this phone.
Have clicked those apps in "power saving /protected apps"?
I don't know what to tell you about your comm issues. Wifi AND phone does not point to an antenna issue. Maybe a factory reset or loading the firmware once more?

Yes, they are setup as "Protected" still doesn't keep them from stopping.
I'm hoping we see another update from Huawei so I can start from scratch with the version instead of wiping what I already have.

Yeah, that really needs to be fixed too. I am sort of getting used to the larger DPI, but the issue is app compatibility, so many apps won't install from the Google Play store with the 400DPI
