Hi,
First of all i want to thank you all that will read this and maybe try to help me. I love doing my stuff without help, so this post came after searching, and i didn't find anything close to it.
My S3 is 8 months old, and is a Grey edition. The phone itself did great, and did nothing to give me clues that have something wrong. No freezes, no glitches, since i bought it, stay on charger over night, wifi allways on, played almost everygame that i can get hands on.
1. is rooted, and is on 412, XEMC3/ baseband XEMB6, Adam Kernel 3.0.31
2. 16gb international version.
3. i think i was haveing 2-3 months that i didn't reboot my phone (wasn't necessary at all)
4. Last night, i sense a freeze comming, and i shutdown the phone.
The issue:
After i shutdown the phone, the fault apear: The blue led remain ON (solid).
Take out the battery, the led goes off, and stay off after inserting the battery.
Start the phone, the blue led goes on normaly and off after boot. Received emails, sms etc, led blinking normaly. No freezes, no glitches etc, phone works like shoud work.
Shutdown the phone again, and the blue led remains on after power off
Anyone face this issue? I just wanna ask before takeing radical actions like wipe, flash roms and maybe going to restore for warranty.
With anticipated thanks for any help,
Cristian

done that (wipe all dalvik, cache, etc).
The same behaviour, shutdown, the blue led remain on (solid - waited with the phone off 30 min.
The led remain on for the all tine, no blink, no fade, etc). Phone again working smothly.
Thank you for your advice

With the information given its virtually impossible to tell.....consider this:-
Any one of your apps could be causing this.
So, as jj suggested, return to stock, ... .does problem still exist? If not, then you have a start point and you will need to work back to where you are now, adding a few apps at a time etc
Just because you don't like the sound of a solution/ find it too arduous to implement a diagnostic process.....it doesn't mean it isn't valid.
I would say, in this case (as with many) returning to stock and starting from there is the quickest solution.
It will certainly differentiate between hardware/software fault.
Consider all this before you speak in a dismissive tone to someone who offers help

Im sorry and i apologize for my tone, wasn't my intention to offend any of you, especially that you try to help me.
I just wanna understand, why, shutting down the phone, still powering the blue led. It looks like a hardware failure, but is a strange one.
I will get a replacement phone, and get my s3 to stock, and maybe after that going to warranty.
The issue doesn't affect the phone functionality, but affects me mentally that i know about it.
Again apologies for my tone, and thanks for try to help me.
Best regards
No need to apologise to me, I do suggest returning to fully stock to try and eliminate hardware problem before doing anything else

Hey!
I've noticed that in a few applications (or settings) i have issues with my touch-input. This is e.g when changing the default ringtone i can't just tap "ok" but have to press the "ok" button from the side with my whole finger, otherwise it won't be regocnised. Sometimes when using the keyboard, the buttons on the right side are very hard to use. That would be the "p" "l" and "backspace". Have anyone else had this problem? The weird thing is that sometimes it works perfect, but sometimes it's just a pain in the ass to get things done?
I think sometimes the touch screen can just not work properly, just luck of the draw I guess.
Has yours always been like this or is it a recent change? I am assuming its always been like this.
if it has then its a hardware failure (most likely) and will need to go back under warranty for repair.
If its a new change, then what has happened to cause it? Could just be a new rom or something causing the calibration to be off.
It hasn't always been like this. Lately it has begun to screw with me. And i don't think it has anything to do with luck, since it's always the same programs that do this. e.g. changing ringtone, accepting the google maps license on first run etc.
One could think this is a hardware failure, that's what i thought at first, but the strange thing is, that the same "area" on the screen works prefectly in other applications. I've tried several roms, but they all act like this. Perhaps I should install the stock rom and try with that.
I have a similar issue, and even more, sometimes once I am pressing the screen, the keys are starting to "dance" like the hero is trying to think which button to choose, by itself, and I am watching it, and smiling :-(
I've had it since SenseHero 1.5 and others as well. I just reinstalled the official htc rom and calibrated again the screen... but I am afraid the issue is still there, though less frequent...
Next week at the doorsteps of Orange I guess
Possibly is lag related?
Maybe the phones memory management is not working very well on the ROM you have installed and is causing large amounts of lag that the phone is interpreting touches (or not touches).

Possible, But with all the speed tweaks, task killer and stuff, maybe even the overclock widget that I started to use only after this issue appeared... don't know, have no idea how to solve it.
Now it is like beginning, with official htc rom, no additional apps installed neither contacts, and still, I have this issue.
Suggestion?
Got the exact same problem.
Almost exclusively buttons on the bottom of the screen and as you already said the right part of the keyboard (especially the goddamn backspace drives me nuts sometimes!).
It hasn't always been like this, started somewhen after flashing more than just Modaco I think.. And the severity varies a lot, sometimes I got barely any issues and then again I can't even finish an sms. Unnerving.
At htcpedia someone who obviously has the same problem pm'ed me his solution:
Your Problem with Screen
I had to wipe everything of.... installed the WWE original ROM, then re-root the phone and now working with Modacco 3.1, seems to be working ok now....think the problem was with LOX latest ROM.

I think - not sure - it startet with some lox rom for me too. Do you remember which Rom you were using when this first occured?
Well anyway, might give it a try.
I haven't tried it yet for 3 reasons:
1 - the link for the german version of the original firmware is down
2 - i don't have a windows computer, so the .exe is pretty much useless for me
3 - I'm way too lazy as currently it's not that bad
same problem
hye there, I seldomly post here..
But i got the same problem before... keyboard dances, hard to click OK... could not finish a sms without swearing F*** F***..
yep, its a hardware problem.. maybe its bcoz of the shape of the hero making its touch screen easily damage.. Not sure though..
flashed so many roms, to try to fix this problem.. thought it was a software issue.. but.... nothing..
went to HTC care centre.. and changed the touch screen (warranty, had to revert everything to stock) and now...
Good as New with Villain 3.4
hope this helps...
Oh thx guys. "Happy" not to be the only one with this issue. For starters I'll try the solution with the original rom. I think I still have some version of windows installed on one of my harddrives. If it don't work I'll have the screen changed. I'll report soon.

When you revert to stock Rom, do you need to reinstall a stock recovery as well? or is it automatic? because I reverted and when I try to boot into recovery with "power + home" I get a kind of error: the symbol of a triangle with an exclamation mark in it, and a phone symbol lies down beneath it.
Is there another way to go into recovery? or is it not installed actually? (I went back to the official RUU from htc site).
Thanks for the help.
Ok, I've just tried the solution with the stock rom. As a matter of fact, it does fix the keyboard-issues. However, some of the other random touch-input-issues still persist. I can't really see how this could be hardwarebased, since the same area on the screen works in other applications just fine.
The official rom from HTC completly restores your phone as it was when you got it. You'll have to install your custom recovery again, as you did the first time.
I had a similar issue.
A fix for this: VillainROM6.1-Full-signed.
Now, keyboard its ok.
Try it.
Good day all,
I've got an issue with my phone.
When I reboot my phone it starts acting like its connected with the PC and then its normal and then it thinks its connected again. This loop will maintain itself for around 5 min or so.. It also thinks that the battery is being charged sometimes. I've absolutely no idea whats wrong, so I've you guys can give my some help, then I will appreciate it very much!
Gr,
Leek.
Either you've got a HTC Touch & you're in the wrong forum or maybe you'd like to give us some details like rom/kernel/etc & them maybe we might be able to help.
Actually, I'll preempt those details & say if you're running a non-stock rom, re-flash stock back on to your phone & see if you can replicate these problems. Obviously if you have these issues on stock there may be a hardware issue, but if it only happens with a non-stock rom/kernel then there's obviously something with the rom/kernel causing you problems.
@MistahBungle
Excuse me, adapt my signature (couldn't find the edit function fast enough).
All the things you ask are there I suppose.
I've tried so far: Root my device and delete the battery data (was one of the options I read online).
Greets,
Leek
OK. So you're running stock (apart from root) & you're having problems. That sounds like it might be a problem with either the battery or the phone itself. Maybe try flashing the CFRoot kernel again (assuming you used CFRoot to root your phone ?).
Failing that, you could try going back to complete stock. Yes, I know CFRoot kernels are so close to stock it ain't funny, but given you're already running stock for all intensive purposes, these two options are the only things I can think of short of maybe trying another battery or sending the phone in for warranty service.
@MistahBungle can I ask you for your help about this?
Because I have absolutely no idea how I could flash the CFRoot kernel again..
Thanks!
Anyone that can lead me in the right direction?
I've used odin before, and I know how to install, but I've absolutely no idea what kernel version I've to install.
Greets,
Leek.
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKK2

Ancient kernel running on rather recent OS build (that usually runns a kernel that's been updated two more times since the one currently running).
Not sure if that's causing the problem, but that's not a too good mix.
Newer kernel with older OS -> cool
Older kernel with newer OS -> uncool
@HellcatDroid
Aha, thats interesting!
So if I would install a later version like: GT-I9100_XWKK5 then It would be ok again?
As I said, I don't know if that's that cause, for all we know it could also be a hardware fault.
But it's surely worth a try.
Ive had this issue, it was because there was dust in the usb port which caused something in the phone to short out and cause a software issue. In the end mine wouldnt even charge, it would turn itself on straight after I turned it on. I had to get mine fixed at a service centre. Hopefully yours just needs a clean.
this is a hardware problem, suggest to fix it in the official repairment office.
one of my phone occured the very problem, and i sent it back...
@HellcatDroid,
Lets hope so, I'll give it a try this evening or tomorrow morning.
@bungknees.
I'll try and clean it this eve.
@lsnc
That won't be nice...
Question to you all. when I send my phone back, there need to be the offical ROM and kernel on it, am I right?
If this is true,
Could you guys please help me with this?
Greets,
Leek.
Well cleaned it later on, past weekend and surprisingly it stopped with initializing every time. But it is still rebooting itself when I turn my phone off. Any idea what causes itself to reboot? maybe a short circuit somewhere?
Guess what, after charging my battery and disconnection my charger, its still saying: "Battery completely charged, please remove the charger".
Whats this?
Greets,
Leek
So sometime in the last week or 2, my I9300 started randomly freezing up and/or shutting off by itself.
it's usually a while after booting - i'll come to unlock it, and the LED will be showing Blue. Clicking any of the buttons doesn't do anything, nor does waiting a while.
Holding down the power button for a few seconds boot/reboots the phone though, and it works normally when it starts back up again - although after a while it will die again.
Sometimes it runs for hours, sometimes just minutes.
Occasionally, it will freeze up while i'm actually using it - the screen stays on, frozen in place, but the touchscreen and buttons won't do anything (although oddly, multiple clicks of the home button make the colours invert?).
Anyway, i thought this soundsed a bit like this 'Sudden Death' bug, but how do I know? I installed and ran the eMMC check app and it says:
Phone Model: Samsung GT-I9300
eMMC chip: Type VTu00M, Date 05/2012, CID 15010056545530304df1f900755f5f5f, FwRev oxf1
SGS3 Sudden Death? YES. Insane chip.
My question is - what does this mean? Do i have the problem and just need to make sure i run a kernel with the fix, or is the phone now broken and needs replacing/fixing?
If it does need fixing, do i need to revert it to stock ROM and run triangleaway or anything before i send it in, or is it fine how it is?
It's currently running crDroid 11.1 XXELLC, and it was at the time i started noticing the problem. I'm using Siyah 1.8.9, although i was using an earlier version before (can't remember what).
Same problem here... i don´t know what to do... today i make a lot of things to attempt to restore all but everything fail... i decided to talk with samsung and send the phone to repair, in a few days I hope to come to pick up the phone, I have to say that I had to pay 24 € for the shipping and after playing wait month or month and a half. is frustrating but hopefully come good repair.
One read the SDS thread . Two if you think you have the problem or a problem follow the how to revert to stock post and take to a service centre .
Freeze is more likely rom and or kernel .
???????
although oddly, multiple clicks of the home button make the colours invert AS IT SHOULD .
jje
thanks - have read the SDS thread and the stuff people were talking about there didn't really sound like what's happening for me, which is why i posted this thread.
I also thought that it sounded like the ROM or kernel, which is why I have now tried Siyah, tank, and boeffla kernel latest versions, as well as the foxhound, android revolution, and darky roms.
none have made a difference so far
I'm just looking for some ideas on what to do next - should i try reverting back to an Old rom/kernel, should i try a non-sammy based one, is it possible that my SD card is somehow causing the problem?
i didn't know that the multi-click thing inverted the colours - why does it though? it doesn't seem like something i'd want a shortcut to.
Wipe phone flash stock rom .
jje
Fixed it by moving from ELLA modem & wiping.
This thread is your solution : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091045
so i wiped again and installed the MA2 modem - this made the freezing problem even worse so i wiped again and installed the ELKC modem.
this was on Monday and I hadn't had a single freeze until this morning, when it's frozen 4 times in the space of a few hours.
so i guess i'm flashing back to the factory image...

To keep things simple, I had a cracked screen on the Ultra which was replaced last week. However now the phone screen is slow and unresponsive after about a minute of use (fast & like new after right turning on however).
Ive tried the mod tweak found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522657
As well as the thermal screen calibration here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470070
There is no change with either mode. Cleaning with alcohol only works for a few minutes, and yes Ive removed the ASF for no change.
It should be noted that when booted at first minute or two, the touch inferface is quick and brilliant. After a minute or so it gets slower and remains so. Typing a text is a gruelling affair at that point,
Ran 4.3 android and updated to 4.4.4 and also no change in performance.
Does anyone have any ideas/ tips or pointers?
HELP!?!
An app with a memory leak?
Looks quite normal. RAM 1.1GB used; 600MB free.
Unless thats not what were talking about?
EDIT: might be up to something. using advanced kill on Go taskmanager EX and its seemed to do improve the situation in the short term. Will keep testing
Well got about that far thus far. The advanced kill works sometimes, but none of the apps look out of whack (from my basic knowledge anyhow)
Any help/ links in diagnosing a memory leak would be very appreciated.
Don't suppose you've got the Google now launcher? I had to uninstall as they introduced a memory leak in the last update.
Un updated it just in case.
Its tough as even watchdog lite isint detecting much. com.google.android.gms:snet at startup took 22% CPu but otherwise its steady.
Grr jezz I even did a factory reset to 4.4.4 and its still there. Would trying a custom rom help?
Well as an update manage to completely wipe and reinstall the OS. No change in performance however
Does anyone know if a faulty screen install could be to blame for this?

Could well be, but i find it strange that it acts normal again after a reboot? That alone indicates that it's something wrong with the software. I still hold a finger on a process gone wild. Do you have Recovery installed? If yes, re-flash the ROM or flash something else and see if that solves it. I would personally flash a stock ROM and flash it with Flashtool so you don't have to root or void any warranties, and it'll be the simplest thing to do in case the screen is still acting weird after flash, and you want to get it checked out again (since it most certainly will be a hardware issue at that point).
So, fire up Flashtool, download a complete stock ROM (TFT), flash it, test it. Is it working fine now? Sweet. Keep using the ROM. Is it still the same thing? Contact the repair center again and tell them what's up and please do tell them that you've already done a factory reset, since that's the first thing they'll do themselves. Do not tell them about Flashtool or any other hacks or tweaks. They'll probably blame you if they think that you're an XDA user. "Oh, so you've been playing with it, and you bricked it and wanna fix it for free, bla bla".
Ask if they can open the device again and check that everything is fine and that you haven't received a faulty panel.
Ive actually did a complete tft flash of the original xperia ultra software. No change whatsoever vs previous state.
Im increasingly suspecting a hardware issue. Could it be a poorly plugged in cable? Its random chugging/ smooth response is completely confusing...

Did you flash the exact same FTF that you've always used, or did you flash one from a different region? I would try the GPe ROM if i were you, just to be sure, but don't bother doing it if you're not rooted and ready to flash. Yes it can easily be a hardware issue, and you should probably contact Sony or your nearest service center.
As an update I tried installing a fresh tft flash of a different build but same issue.
Notably noticed that the notification light on the screen is not working at all, so currently looks like a hardware issue. Will keep updated for reference & visit a repair centre
Hey Folks,
i ran into some really weird, yet strange Problems with my Honor 7. Let me tell you what happend:
I used my Phone on B140 for more than 2 Years without any Problems. Now i upgraded to B396 (Removed Root+ChineseTWRP, Full Update to B396, then installed TWRP+SuperSU), and used it afterwards without any Problems for like a Week or so.
Then, i was on my Way, looked something on on Facebook, turned it off, after 2 mins wanted to turn it on again - no Reaction. Totally nothing Tried booting it up Normally, to Recovery, To Fastboot - with and without plugged USB to PC, absolutely nothing happend. Had it on Power for like half an Hour, nope. I was shure it died.
The morning after, i just pressed the Powerbutton as a way 2 say goodbye - Empty Battery Sign! Wtf?! I was able to charge and use it again. Unfortunatly with some minor Problems.
- Whatever i try, when calling, i can clearly hear the other person, but the other part cant hear me. I tried it both with headsets and normal, in- or outgoing call, doesnt matter. Generally the mic is working, though. Was able to record my voice and play it back.
- Bluetooth aint working anymore. When i try to turn it on, the switch stays in the right position (doesnt change the color anyway), and afterwords its flipping back. Oh, and when i look at the "about"Section, under Bluetooth Mac it states "not available".
So. What the h*** is going on there?! Like i said, after upgrading to B396, it was working for at least a week without any problems, without the problems described above. So i highly doubt its a general problem with the upgrade/flashing. But what else?
And, any advice how to a) fix and b) prevent further failures?
Of course it would be best to know what initially caused those problems, but i really cant tell. Anyone any ideas?
Like anyone else of course, one needs a reliable phone. I mean, im happy that i can at least communicate over IM (yes, 3G/4G works without any Problems). But i'd love to make calls again, to e.g. tell my boss id be slightly belated or let mum know everythings alright
So, any Idea what caused that, how to solve and prevent that is highly appreciated!
Greetings and Thankin u in advance!
Folks, i still have that strange Issue/Behaviour (though, of course, in the Meantime im using another Phone ).
But think that should be possible to totally, absolutely, reset the Phone, and trying to get rid of those Problems. Too Sad to see the Phone collecting dust, where it might be a great Device for a Friend.
What i did by now:
Unroot
Reflash Fastboot recovery, boot, cust, system.
Factory Reset
Update.zip in dload
But there is still no Bluetooth-Adress available, when calling i cant hear the other Person.
It somehow seems not to completely reset the phone - there are still user-data on the Phone.
As i really dont care about those data - is there something else i can do above fastboot flashing those files mentioned above, to absolutely start from a scratch?
