[Request] Moving the App Drawer to middle - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I did some basic search and couldn't find it.
I'm actually okay with the app drawer's icon, I just don't want it on the bottom right corner. I want it in the middle. I've used Nova so that is my last resort but I actually want to use TW and try out couple of things on it.
Thank you

I prefer my app drawer in the middle as well. I use GoLauncher with a GS4 Touchwiz theme.

I haven't used TW in months and never used the stock launcher so pardon any ignorance, but can't you just long press and drag to rearrange things in the dock like the stock AOSP launcher? If not, and you really don't want to use a different launcher, you'll have to decompile the apk and poke around.
Just curious, why do you prefer the stock TW launcher over something like Nova, which can be set up to look exactly like it if you want?

I for one do theming and now that the dev has gone out of his way to try and prevent themers from doing things... his app and he can do anythign he wants.. But I now switched to using stock launcher.. an no it can be dragged. the other 4 can but not app icon.. its weird...

I have been trying to do this for weeks, almost months! Previously on a Galaxy S II and now on my I9505 S4. I have decompiled and search throughout xml files and smali files and I can't find it anywhere. I suspect that it has something to do with the animation. Because when you delete all of the other apps out of the dock (Hotseat) the all apps icon is in the middle. Which is great, if you don't want any other apps in the dock. But then as soon as you go to add another icon in there, it creates almost like a little buffer in between the apps icon and the icon you have just put in the drawer.
So I think it has something to do with animation which needs to be disabled and I don't think there is any way to do it in any of the res folders (layout, values, etc) so I'm fairly certain it needs to be done in smali files, but smali to me is like trying to read Swahili so I can't really work out how to do it.
If I find out how to center the apps icon then I will post it here, but for now it's proving to be fruitless.

I understand that you're making a correct statement, but you are oblivious to the fact that he wants this for the TW launcher. If he wanted to switch to nova he would have. Hell, all AOSP based launchers allow this.

Same. If you could dig through the smali files while the launcher was active (IE if you could dig through the smali files while the launcher was running on your device) you might be able to find it by comparing an active launcher with just the app menu button as opposed to one with all 5 spots filled ... however, I'm not sure that's possible. Could it be emulated/VM'd on a PC?

What apk have you decompiled to find the CSC folder? And where abouts in SecLauncher3.apk is the feature.xml file???

The csc folder is in /system I thought that after modifying SecLauncher3.apk (smali, xml, etc..) that you had to change some text in /system/csc/feature.xml and /system/csc/default_workspace.xml in order for the changes to occur

Any luck yet?

Help porting lockscreens?

I'm trying to figure out where the lockscreen is located inside of a Rom. I would like to port over some lockscreens from other phones? Do I just need the lockscreen xml file and the .png images? Or is there a lot more to it?
Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure there is a lot more to it! If not we'd have roms with 10 locksreens like in Captivate Roms, etc. I'm sure its tougher than it seems otherwise devs would have done it already.

I'm wanting to do the galaxy note lockscreen, it's already built into one of the roms in the dev section so i figured it might be a little easier to just pull it out and put it any other roms? Not too sure though, still reading a little on it. Just hoping someone here with experience with that sort of thing could help me out.

App Request TW Launcher for AOKP

Is it possible for someone to make a modified version of the TW launcher that will work with AOKP? I'd just like the app drawer icon to be the ICS circle with dots. I found the link below in searching, but it has the default home page set to 1 with no option to change it, and the app drawer icon isn't themed. I'm using it for now though, because i have no idea how i could change it. Anyone who wants to use this one without having it modded go ahead. Lol Thanks in advance to anyone who can do it or any advice!

You can change the app drawer icon in Nova (and Apex, I think) - you can probably make them look mostly like Touchwiz if you want.

Translucent Status Bar

Hey themers:
I'm just getting acquainted with making small modifications to the system and am currently working from a stock 4.0.4 LPL based ROM. I would like to implement a 50% translucent effect on the TW status bar.
I've decompiled SystemUI.apk many different ways - as a non-system app, an app w/ dependencies (both framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk), I've recompiled without any issues at all and immediately de-compiled to make sure my changes "stick", and they do. I then throw them into a flashable zip, wipe cache/dalvik, flash the zip and fix permissions, no go.
I'm following a guide that was originally posted in the GS2 forum that instructs us to do the following:
1) SystemUI StatusBar.smali - locate the "...Landroid/view/WindowManager$LayoutParams;-><init>(IIIII)V" statement and change the const/v16 above it from "const/16 v16, 0x4" to "const/16 v16, -0x3".
2) Go to res > values > drawables.xml and edit "status_bar_background" hex to #7f000000 for 50% transparency.
This didn't work on its own, so on top of that I also tried implementing the same sort of change mentioned in #1 above on both the PhoneStatusBar and TabletStatusBar.smali files. Still no go. The system boots no problem, but just no change in the visual appearance of the status bar.
Does anyone have any ideas outside of this on what smali file or statement in the above files might control this feature? I'm still digging but didn't know if others had attempted this. Thanks to any and all who are willing to help. I don't need anyone to look at code for me, just a gentle shove in the right direction would be fantastic!
+1 for this.
I'd love to see this work.

You need to modify the "tw_" variants of the status bar definitions to see anything happen, TouchWiz UI does not use the regular assets/definitions.

No problem, I spent most of last night working out how to move the system bar from the bottom of the screen to the top using a decompiled SystemUI from the TouchWiz rom for the Galaxy Tab. You might find that even though you make the bar transparent that the area behind it is black anyway (it is for me at least using the official 4.0.4 rom) due to it assuming that the system bar is being rendered there. I'm yet to figure out how to manipulate the rest of the WindowManager environment to fix the issue.

Changing the hue (if you didn't select only a portion of the image) will change the borders as well. If they aren't solid black, then the image will be jacked up. You can also re-trace over those borders with a pencil tool set to 100% black "ff000000" and that should work too.

Are you then recompiling the APK so your .9 image is batched? If not, that's what your missing.

Well the process of recompiling the apk will do it for you. You can then pull that image of of the compiled apk, in the dist folder, and put it into your original to flash in recovery, or push using adb.
There is also a tool somewhere out there that will process the .9 without using apktool, I don't remember what its called tho.

[Q] Rooted Galaxy S4 - Question about Icon labels/text

Hi, I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere but I can't find it.
I just rooted my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (MD5) and still running the stock ROM. I'd like to change the text underneath my app icons on my screens and the app tray. For example, I'd like the ability to change "Gallery" to "Pictures".
Does an easy way to do this exist?
