Hello All,
I have SE Stock ICS 4.0.4 ... I want to install CWM Recovery ... Please guide ???
Regards
Anyone CWM for Stock 4.0.4 ???
Anyone ??? Jjdoctor ???
Tried installing Xperia CWM Auto-Installer on ST18i
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673489
2) Install CWM Recovery
Again if you have CWM Recovery installed then you dont need to do this step
If not then just download the Application
Now download 'Xperia CWM Auto-installer' by pvyParts to install CWM recovery..
Installed on ST18i ... "ST18i" not supported by this software
Locked or unlocked bootloader?
If locked look here
Boot Loader
My Boot Loader is Unlocked, I unlocked it from SE Website ... but Flashtool can Re-Lock it ... So should i Re-Lock the Boot Loader and go for CWM ???
I don't think flashtools have relocked your bootloader, however it can leave the root on your phone if you upgrade to 4.0.4.
If you follow the guide in the thread that i've linked you can root again and install CWM
I just installed on stock 4.0.4 using the SE Extreme Tweak Installer v1.8 few hours back. worked perfectly.
please do some searching/googling for your basic question... :sigh:

your question has been solved already in a thread
Dear reader,
I've been trying to root my phone for a couple of days now. (Sony Xperia Ray ST18i)
I've browsed to numerous forums/websites in search of a good tutorial/guide to help me do it.
Finally i've managed to find youtube clips which helped me step by step to getting it done.
First thing i did was this:
How to unlock BootLoader on Xperia Ray[Official 4.0.4 ICS]
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
I already encountered my first problem there. I wasn't able to unlock bootloader on my android 4.0.4 so i downgraded my phone to gingerbread 2.3.4. After that i repeated the unlock bootloader tutorial and i succesfully managed to unlock it.
After this i tried to root my phone with the easy rooting kit v.1.0
This worked but after turning my phone on, i noticed that the phone wasn't actually rooted yet.
After contacting the person who made the bootloader video, he told me that i had to flash my kernel. So i went ahead and used another of his video tutorials. (don't mind his english accent btw)
How to flash costum kernel[Sony Xperia Ray]
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
Now this, running with gingerbread 2.3.4. worked without a problem and i currently have a custom kernel installed onto my phone.
This is where i run into my problem.
According to his next video tutorial:
How to root Xperia Ray
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
He shows that you need to be in your phone's regular menu, in order to root your phone with the easy root kit made by DooM.
My problem is that i currently am stuck in the phone kernel menu. When i try to let my phone load up normally, it just keeps rebooting.
The kernel menu btw looks exactly the same like the one shown in the link below:
Xperia play (HOW TO ROOT, FLASH KERNEL, FLASH ROM )
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
Now i've tried my best to be as detailed as possible with what my current situation is.
My question would be: What am i doing wrong and how can i root my phone from where it is right now, because as it stands. I'm unable to use my phone.
Kind Regards,
Cashtecz
ps. ( i did a quick search on the forums but i haven't come across as post that shares the same problem as i have)
Don't worry... We all make mistakes.. The, problem seems to be with the kernel you've flashed.... I've found two guideshttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424121&highlight=kernel

The current rom that i'm using doesn't have google play store in it, and i would like to have it so i can install apps such as whatsapp.

If your bootloader is unlocked, not via pc companion or over the air.
On which rom are you currently on?
Normally you do a backup with for example titanium backup and flash the custom kernel, install the custom rom and restore the titanium backup...
P.S.: For every android version there is a zip file which contains the "gapps" (google apps like playstore) which you can flash with clockworkmod

That's the page where i got my rom as well as the kernel from.
On that thread, it says that there is supposed to be a gapps package in the zip, but for me, it's not there.

They say, you should download them from CM 7.2 thread. Just look here and select the lastest apps for gb (gingerbread) (or just look here).
Flash via cwm (install zip from sd card)

Yes and no, the gapps aren't specific for cyanogenmod, just use the link i posted. Flash them, but rachit.rc96 posted an invalid link, cause they were for ics...
Here again: Download here and flash via recovery AFTER you had installed cm7!

Okay so i've installed Cyanogen 7 and i made sure to download the file that was appropiate for my phone ST18i
I followed all of the steps but for some reason when i try to start my phone, it keeps rebooting when it asks me to press the android.
Why is this happening?
Sorry again for being so rubbish at this

Yes i did exactly what the guide said:
8. Now select “Wipe Data / Factory Reset” and then “Wipe partition cache” option (this is why you need to backup your data from the Xperia Ray).

Try another rom than cyanogenmod 7. Maybe try cyanogenmod 9 or 10. Or you install the kernel+zip again...

Good news! i downloaded a different cyanogen 7 cm-7.2.0-urushi.zip and that one seems to be working.. now all i need to do is flash gapps and everything should work. I'll try that right now!
EDIT: Everything is working.. Appstore was already included with this cyanogen and i'm finally installing my phone now.
Thank you all so much for your help.

If he has unlocked bootloader he can't fix his device via pc companion.
Which device uses? Are you sure he installed a cwm for the device he uses?
Please post here the link of the cwm he used and the device he uses.

Try flashing stock Rom again.
Download an ics ftf file from development section here and flash it via flashtool. I recommend you the .54. Root it and when you're done let me know.

Since you are on unblocked bootloader flash this kernel if you want, it's a great one. Prerooted, with integrated cwm recovery and there is an overclocked version too. here is the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299748
Read carefully the instruction on how to install this kernel. Note that you have to install one of this version of firmware: 6.1.1.B.1.54. You can find this version here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028139
Enjoy!
