[Q] Problem with firmware archos 70 it - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!!
My Archos no start! I've recharged for many hours, but no response. I followed these steps to reinstall the firmware:
1. download latest firmware from archos.com
2. reboot into recovery (powen on + hold down "vol down")
3. recovery -> repair/format -> reformat device (sry not really sure how the menus are called exactly) THIS WILL DELETE ALL THE DATA ON YOUR DEVICE AND RECREATE PARTITIONS
4. u will be asked for the previously downloaded firmware file (upload via usb connection and w8 for flash)
5. you are done - your device will we ini original state wiht latest firmware
...but, in the Step 3...doesn't complete the process: ''setting up system: done'' and does not give me option to insert new firmware.
Anyone know how to solve it?
Thanks!
PD_ My english sucks! ^^' Sorry.

You have to the following:
- Install SDE (you only have to do this only once, it will even survive a full reformat)
- Install android firmware

I have root and recovery on my ascend Ascend D1 (u9500) (NOT Quad!)
First i followed steps 1-7 here:
[not allowed to post link since i have to few posts]
ht tp : / / johnnyparanoia.blogspot . se/2012/06/how-to-root-huawei-ascend-p1-u9200.html
In step one i chose ("just the tools...")
To get ClockWorkMod Recovery i had to experiment a bit. Note that i believe that using CWM might hinder the possibilities to install official updates from Huawei.
How i did i wrote in a comment to the blog post previously mentioned.
I managed to install recovery (ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.8.4.5) after a lot of messing around.
First i installed Android Control (to c:\AndroidControl)
I downloaded cwm_touch_recovery_viva_beta.img and put it in c:\AndroidControl
Then i went into the phones download mode (or whatever it is called) by:
a: Turning off phone and wait a while
b: Hold Volume down and connect usb cable from computer
Now a new device shows up called Blaze. No driver could be identified. (in W7x64)
I Selected it in Device Manager and forced it to use "Android adapter ADB Interface" (I selected: Update driver software / Browse my computer... / Let me pick from a list... / Mobile phone (I think it was) / Android adapter ADB Interface).
I had the driver availible there. This might be from installing HiSuite earlier.
Now i started the command prompt (cmd) and went to c:\AndroidControl.
Then i ran the commands:
"fastboot devices" (to confirm that the device was identified. If no device is found an error will be thrown.)
"fastboot flash recovery cwm_touch_recovery_viva_beta.img"
"fastboot reboot"
Baseband version is: "IMC1202_20120620_PENTA"
Kernel version is: 3.0.8-00028-gf1d0793 [email protected] #1
Build number is: U9500-1V100R001C00B215
Kurbits!
Actually I did tried hard to follow your steps but it dostn't work. Luckily, after a long day trying i'm now successfully got my D1 a CWM (ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.8.4.5).
However, still i can't ROOT it, i've been tried the UnlockRoot but no chance. Can you tell me how you have it ROOTED?
I plan to flash an international version but the process always aborted. Is there any trick to do it? The CWM always look for UPDATE.ZIP while the firmware that I've downloaded has only UPDATE.APP
Do you have any suggestions on how this can be accomplished?
Thanks!

Where does it go wrong? I´ll qoute the steps for reference only.
The url referred in step one is: h ttp://w ww.mediafire.com/?7pdfh11ue8ykyk6
Step 1 - Download ...just the tools here - b113 b115 root u9200[Nixing] Tools Only and extract to your desktop.
Step 2 - Enable USB debugging on your phone - Settings -> Developer options -> USB debugging and plug it into your PC
Step 3 - Run hwadb.exe and let it finish.
Step 4 - Run ubl.exe and wait for it to finish.
Step 5 - Disconnect your phone from your PC and Reboot.
Step 6 - Check to see if Superuser has been installed on your phone.
Step 7 - If you find Superuser in your menu, Congratulations your phone is rooted

I got it to work without problem. If you can specify where it goes wrong could you post a screenshot of what happens or be more specific about which step that does not seem to work.
Kurbits!
Thanks for the reply. I've successfully rooted it now but not with the steps in the URL u provided. What I did was tried to fix the permission and root it via CWM.
Anyway, what I really wanna do now is to flash it with international firmware offered in Huawei download page for D1. But the thing is that the firmware is come with UPDATE.APP instead of UPDATE.ZIP and I did try to rename it but no chance, always aborted.
Do you have any idea how to get it done?
Cheers
J

the automated process from this thread did not work on my D1, but this manual process did:
download mempodroid and su from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21756513&postcount=1
follow all instructions in that post up to the mempodroid command (1st 4)
execute mempodroid with these args instead (copied from the ubl.exe tool posted by the OP)
Code:
./mempodroid 0xd734 0xad9f sh
execute the rest of the commands from the mempodroid root post (up to the adb reboot)
Hey did you try the Bin4ry method? its so simple and took me seconds to root!
I am on the quad but im sure it should work through this restore method!

Reflashing U9500 to stock / Upgrading HUAWEI firmware
I have been searching these and other forums for a while trying to determine how to (a) update my CWM & rooted U9500 to the newest huawei build (221), and (b) return the phone entirely to stock (remove root & CWM). The main issue with either is that with CWM installed I couldn't figure out how to install Huawei's firmware UPDATE.APP files retrieved from their website. Here's how I got that to work:
I used the current firmware from Huawei: U9500-1,Android 4.0,V100R001C00B221,General Version (I can't post links)
Extract the HUAWEI zip and copy the dload folder (containing UPDATE.APP) to a micro sd card
Download split_updata.pl & crc binary from modaco.com forum (google "Repacking UPDATA.APP")
Run the split_updata.pl script with the path to UPDATE.APP as a command line argument. It should extract a bunch of unknown files to the output directory.
unknown_file.7 (should be 5697536 bytes) is the official recovery partition. This is what you will replace CWM with. You can rename it to recovery.img, or just use the created filename when flashing.
Boot phone in download mode:
* Power off
* Hold POWER & VOLUME DOWN buttons
* Release both when Huawei logo appears
* Phone should not continue booting or enter CWM
Run fastboot devices and make sure something is listed (mine only printed a bunch of question marks, but it worked fine)
Run fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Run fastboot reboot
After the phone boots up normally, go to settings -> storage -> software upgrade -> sd card upgade and click confirm.
This will reboot into the official recovery image and start the upgrade process. This will also remove CWM, root/superuser, and any other changes to the OS you have made.
If you were just looking to upgrade, you can reflash CWM and/or root the phone again. If you were looking to return to stock, you can then reboot into Android and run the factory reset option.

You need to correctly install the drivers for both adb and fastboot.
It would be a nightmare on a 64bit Windows system, but it's quite easy on Linux/MacOS systems.

[Q] Yuandao N70s unbricking

Hello. I need an instruction on how to unbrick Yuandao N70s tablet. I heard it's hard to. Could somebody post the instruction and necessary files (including kernel)? Sorry for my English, but it's not my native languge.
Try to flash the newest stock ROM, maybe it will help.
The ROM is here - [send me a PM as I do not have 10 posts yet, and cannot add links]
Click the white button to download.
Use the RKBatchTool.exe to flash it - download here - [send me a PM as I do not have 10 posts yet, and cannot add links]
The required flash drivers are in the RAR as well.
Flashing instructions:
- Make sure tablet is off then hold down the Volume + Key and plug in your USB Cable to PC
- When asked, install drivers from the RK30tools/RockusbDriver/ folder
- Open RKBatchTool.exe. It should recognize your tablet (the button for the position nr 1 should be highlighted green). Browse for your ROM by clicking the top right button. Select the IMG file extracted from the downloaded firmware .rar, and then click Restore. Wait for the end. The tablet should reboot.
Good luck!
My tablet Yuandao N70S is in continuosly reboot.I want to flash another rom.Could you give me some instructions and rom download links please?

After flashing the tablet is not charging, does not turn on the computer is not detected. The solution for such bricks include:
1. Remove the back cover plate.
2. Turning off the power connector.
3. Unpack firmware somewhere on your computer.
4. Turn SP Flash Tool 5.14 and set the path to the file from a folder with MT6582_Android_scatter unpacked firmware (see para. 3)
5. Expose setting Format All + Download and hit Download.
6. Hold down the Volume + pressed connect the USB and wait until the flashing process will start. (The buttons do not go!)
7. As soon as you see a yellow band of interest on the firmware download, you can release the Volume + and wait for the end of the process.
8. After the firmware disable USB, connect the power connector of the battery and turn our device for verification.
9. Put the cover back.
As I said, flashing a site Ainol not work and leads to a brick (3 times sewed, 3 times okirpichil). I solved this problem by replacing preloader.bin of the new version on preloader.bin from the previous version, which is stitched without any problems, and then packed RABOCHUYUYU latest firmware for our tablet did re-initialization of memory + 2GB USRDATA (instead of 1 GB for applications will be allocated 2 GB and there is no fault with the lack of space). Spread the firmware for the members of the forum.
To flash mode Firmware Uprade through SP Flash Tool (for those who okirpichil: see. The instructions above)
Do not forget to make backup NVRAM!
Ainol_AX9_2014.09.05_2GB
Attached file SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1452.00.000.rar (24,67 MB) --> no link
Here CWM recovery for our animal. Put through Mtk Droid Tools.
Download CWM recovery
Attached file MtkDroidTools.rar (9.97 MB)
1. Turn the tablet in debug mode via USB. (Settings for developers)
2. Set the Root rights (Annex Framaroot to help)
3. Start the MTK Droid Tools, connect the USB cable to the plate.
4. Wait for the connection (in the corner of the box should be lit green), and your device must be recognized.
5. Go to the tab root, backup, recovery.
6. click on the button Recovery and Boot.
First, it prompts you to specify the path to the boot.img, but we we press Cancel, and then it asks you to specify the path to recovery.img and we specify the path to my file and hit ok.
7. Turn off the tablet and go in through rekaveri kombanatsiyu On. and Volume +
Attached file recovery.img (5,33 MB)
Please add information to the cap.

Root and custom recovery confusion.

Hello all,
I have a Z2 on MM with 23.5.A.1.291 firmware. I want to root and install a custom recovery and have looked at the threads on here about it but I'm pretty confused! None of the various options seem to be up to date, or stable, or understandable.
This thread seems to be the most up-to-date, but the instructions are pretty vague, files seem to be missing, and quite a few people seem to have had problems with it.
Can anyone explain the simplest, safest way to root the Z2 on the latest firware? Or at least help me make head-nor-tail of the existing instructions...
Many thanks

Download .314 ftf (or any rootable ftf for z2)
Then search for dual recovery for Xperia z2 and download the last version
And download Xperia root kit
1. Flash the ftf file that you have downloaded
2. Root it using Xperia rootkit(usb debugging must be on)
3. Install dual recovery using your pc
Thats it now you have root and recovery
I followed the guide you linked to and everything worked perfectly! As long as all files are available, I would do this again. Be sure to follow the directions exactly and you'll be fine.
Whatever you do, DON'T try to flash Nut's Dual Recovery on MM, because you'll then be in a continuous bootloop at the Sony logo; don't ask me how I know this! ;>)

I've read through that entire thread pretty much and still haven't found clear step by step instructions :/
I've downloaded the flashtool but don't know what to do now: there is no option to 'flash' or select a file..
Surely someone out there is able to write a clear, full, step-by-step guide to root this very popular phone..?
I've rooted many different phones and installed plenty of ROMs but never found so much confusing information before!
IDIOTS GUIDE Root and TWRP
Okay, may as well do it my self...
IDIOT'S GUIDE: (for Z2 Marshmallow .291)
1. Firstly go to https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6aEcBP7FwsWUGpQdHdvaVRCQlk/view and download the .291 kernel.
2. Then download SuperSU from here.
3. Put both these files on your phone's SD card.
4. Next download the .575 kernel here.
5. Before this can be used, you need to change it from a .zip file to a .ftf file.
- Go to the file location in the file browser.
- Click on the 'View' section in the top ribbon (Win 10).
- Check 'file name extensions' in the 'show/hide' section.
- Rename the kernel file, deleting the .zip and replacing it with .ftf instead at the end.
6. Download the Recovery for MM from here.
Extract the zip file.
7. Download the correct drivers for your phone: simplest way seems to be by installing Sony PC Companion and connecting your device.
8. Download and install 'Flashtool' from here. (The 0.9.18.6 version seems to have better compatibility).
9. Install the drivers for the flash- if you are on windows 10 or 8 you will need to turn off driver signing first:
A) Press the Windows key + R together and in the ‘Run’ box type: shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
- This will take you to the advanced boot menu.
– Now make the following selections to boot into the Start Up Setting Screen: Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Start Up Settings > Restart
– Then, when the machine restarts, select number 7 i.e. “Disable driver signature enforcement”. Your machine will start with Driver signing enforcement disabled until the next reboot.
B) Now you can install the Flashtool drivers.
– Windows will warn that the driver is not signed and will require you to confirm the installation.
– Once the installation is complete, reboot the machineTo install the drivers you need to go to the Flashtool install folder (e.g. C:\Flashtool) and go in to the 'drivers' folder and run the 'flashtool-drivers.exe'.
- From the menu select Flashmode drivers, Fastboot drivers, and then scroll down and select Xperia Z2 device drivers (not sure if this last one is necessary if you've done step 7 previously, but I did it and everything worked.)
- Click install, and click okay on the warning messages.
10. Enable developer options on your phone (repeatedly tap on build number in 'About phone' in settings.)
Then make sure that USB Debugging is enabled, and in 'Security' that 'Allow Unknown Sources' is enabled.
11. Back up vital data (though you shouldn't loose anything), then power your phone off with it not connected to the computer.
12. Startup Flashtool and let it update etc.
13. While holding the volume down button on your phone, connect it to your PC.
Flashtool should respond and spew out a few lines of text ending with something like 'Phone ready for flashmode operations'.
14. Click on the lightning bolt, select 'Flashmode', and then in the next window browse to the location of the .575 .ftf kernel file you made. Select it, then click 'flash' at the bottom right. There should be more lines of text hopefully showing that this is completed successfully.
15. Close Flashtool, disconnect your phone, then turn on your phone.
16. Flash the recovery: Reconnect your phone to the PC and select MSC mode.
Go to the unzipped recovery and run 'install.bat' as administrator (if that doesn't work try not as administrator).
If the window that opens up stays on 'starting daemon...' for a while check on your phone as you may need to authorize the 'unknown source' connection from the PC.
The installation should complete with a 'press any key to continue'. Your phone should then automatically reboot in to TWRP recovery.
17. Install SuperSU: Once in TWRP go to 'Install' and select the SuperSU zip (you may need to select 'storage' and choose your SD card first). Swipe to install!
18. Reinstall the .291 kernel: still in TWRP do basically the same as for SuperSU but this time with the MM .291 zip.
19. Cross your fingers and reboot!
20. All being well you are now rooted, you can check root by installing 'Root Checker' form the play store.
21. Open a beer and relax!
(22. Install Cyberian camera!)
Please give me some thanks if I have helped you!
I will post this as a new thread as well so it's easier to find.

Maybe someone has already rooted the same device.
I am a beginner and I need a complete step-by-step method. Thank you in advance.

Thanks for your answer. Yep, I have seen this site. I even left a comment there that instruction contains a broken link. You can use your mouse wheel (if using desktop) or swipe down (if using smartphone) to scroll down to see comments there. They fixed the issue, but they still have instructions that does not work. I apologize for mistrusting your link, but I am afraid to follow the incorrect instructions on this site. Since people say that this can lead to the fact that the phone stops working at all. No offense.

Hello mate. I have the SM-A115F. Here's my guide how to get ROOT with Magisk!!!!!!!!!!
I'm aware you that you will loose all your data on your phone because you need to unlock bootloader.
If you're assept with that prepare for root
BE CARE FULL I'M RUSSIAN AND WORK WITH RUSSIAN VERSION OF FIRMWARE, SOME STRINGS MAY BE DIFFERENT. I TRY MY BEST TO TRANSLATE 'EM CORRECTLY, BUT NEVERTHELESS!!!!!!
You must do it with follow steps:
a) Preparig^
You need to get this software:
1. ADB and Fastboot.
2. Odin.
3. Fresh firmware (I'd used SamFirm, also it's required to install Visual C++ Redist: 2008, 2012, 2015 (x86 & x64))
4. Magisk Manager (APK)
-----------------------------------------
First steps:
a) Make phone backup!
b) Remove all google accounts!!!!!!!!!
c) Enable Developer Settings menu: Settings -> About phone -> Build Number (click over that menu 8 times and enter your password)
d) Navigate to Developer Settings -> Enable OEM Unlock and also Enable ADB (Enable Debuging)
e) TURN OFF YOUR PHONE and then wait for 5 - 8 seconds.
----------------------------------------
Unlocking Bootloader:
a) Plug your ORIGINAL USB THAT COMES WITH BOX OF YOUR PHONE to PC and NOT TO PHONE.
b) When you'll be ready: Press and hold Volume + and Volume - buttons AND PLUG USB (still hold volumes butttons).
c) after 2 or 3 seconds you'll see a blue screen where 1st position log press Volume + for unlocking -> Make it so!
d) you had long press Volume +, now system ask a comfirmation Perss Power Button.
e) When you've done you'll get clean and not vergin android phone with unlocked bootloader!
f) Make a first setup of your phone. When you've done repeat unlocking of Developer Settings and check slider of OEM Unlock IT MUST BE GRAY if so you really had unlocked your phone. If not you're failed!
----------------------------------------
Get Root:
Required:
1. Odin
2. SamFirm and Visual C++ Redist: 2008, 2012, 2015 (x86 & x64)
3. ADB
4. 7-ZIp Archive manager
a) Start SamFirm. settings up application by typing: Model: "SM-A115F" and regian (in my case "SER" = Russia, all data not required a double quotes AND checkout that checkbox "Auto" is selected)
b) After presetin' begin of downloadin' and decrypting of fiemware (you'll get a archive)
c) In firmware archive we must find file with prefix "AP_".
d) Open it with 7-Zip
e) We must extract from there a file "boot.img.lz4"
f) Now We must pack that file into .tar archive. As result we'll get "boot.img.lz4.tar"
g) Install on your phone Magisk Manager and enable WiFi!!!!!!
h) Drop into Phone Memory -> Download folder your "boot.img.lz4.tar"
i) Open Magisk Manager -> Install Magisk -> Patch your kernel manualy -> navigate to your "boot.img.lz4.tar" file and select it!
j) Whne you've done, open on your PC your Phone -> Download folder and get from there archive: "Magisk_Patched.tar"

No wiping during process
I already backed up everything but I don't want to wipe my storage. Losing data by accident is one thing but when it is part of the process I just can't do it.
So how do I root my a11 samsung galaxy without losing data and obviously bricking the device?
Feel free to email me.
I also don't have access to a pc currently but may buy one in the coming weeks.

Bootloader wipes the storage for some reason. How do I prevent this and still root my device?
The thought of a wiped drive/phone almost triggers a panic attack even if everything that I want is backed up.
@Ulrika8
You don't need to unlock phone's boot-loader etc.pp in order to root its Android. Look inside here.

Is there a number I can call for technical support in regards to rooting. I am in California USA.

3. Fresh firmware (I'd used SamFirm, also it's required to install Visual C++ Redist: 2008, 2012, 2015 (x86 & x64))

2. Odin.
3. Fresh firmware (I'd used SamFirm, also it's required to install Visual C++ Redist: 2008, 2012, 2015 (x86 & x64))
----------------------------------------
Get Root:
Required:
1. Odin
2. SamFirm and Visual C++ Redist: 2008, 2012, 2015 (x86 & x64)
