[Q] After failed bootloader unlocking... - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After I tried unlocking my phone's bootloader (which I miserably failed in) I just decided to flash my phone back to its current android version. After that it keeps on having the error "insert sim and reboot phone" and my sd card can't be read also. I tried getting help from a legit technician but then even after all the restarting and whatnot it still didn't work.
Is there any hope for my phone?

Ughh. Lots of people messing up Bootloaders now adays. Its a big trail-error process unlocking a bootloader. I do believe now you have no choice but to unlock your bootloader to fix your problem. These are the pages i saved on "How to" unlock your bootloader permanently. http://www.modaco.com/topic/346145-how-toguideunlock-x10-bootloader-permanently/ FALLOW THEM EXACTLY OR ELSE YOU WILL COMPLETELY REWEN YOUR PHONE. Be VERY CAREFULL. READ EVERYTHING FIVE TIMES

Just relock your bootloader and unlock it properly.

Athena Project Touch ROM Update failed

Hello,
I tried the TOUCH 3.0, but after it gets to 1% update, the htc reboots and on the pc it says "image is corrupt, please check your updater utility" I have re-downloaded the touch and same thing happens, any help?
Thanks
You are probably going to get flamed for not searching, but I believe that means your phone isn't unlocked. If you haven't used Olipro's unlocker do that then retry the update. His unlocker isn't the same as sim unlocking just in case you didn't know. Good luck to you.
I did do search and I did come up with what you are saying that the phone is not unlocked, but it is unlocked, and I purchased it as an unlock phone, this is why I am stuck. So any help would be much appreciated.
From what I understand and read is that there are two unlocks that your phone needs. Sim unlock which is what your phone has and I believe IMEI unlock which it doesn't. Olipro's unlocker will take care of that. Using the unlocker either way is just a safe bet for making sure everything works well with your device.

How can I tell if my phone is UNLOCKED?

Hello,
how can I tell if my 8525 is SIM unlocked?
I bought my phone "unlocked", but then used ATT for service. If I end the service, will my phone revert back to being unlocked? And can an unlocked phone use Virgin mobile as a carrier? (I kinda doubt it, but maybe someone has tried it).
Should I use HardSPL 2.10 - Hard-SPL-V7 - FIRST before trying the unlocking tool? (The Free unlocker by pof mentions it comes with HardSPL v1.40)
Thanks, all of y'all are extremely helpful. (and no I'm not being sarcastic)
to see if your phone is indeed unlocked, try to put in sim cards issued by different carriers, if you can make a phone call then your phone is sim unlocked. do the same test with virgin mobile (remember that you need to get a hold of the sim card to put into your phone in order to connect with the cellular network). if a carrier never issues any sim card then it'll be difficult to use your phone with their cellular service.
Also, if you want to unlock, flash hard spl AFTER you unlock as it will downgrade your spl to 1.40. You want 2.10 olipro for safety. With hard spl on yor phone its harder to brick it and easier to fix if something does go wrong. I also use the sd card method of flashing for preference as its harder to pry my phone out of my hand and resetting it with th stylus while I'm trying to kill you.... The pc can be reset, hang, have usb disconnected or have power outage... result : bricked hermes.... Hope this helps....
Thanks for the responses,
I can't use activesync because I always get errors, so I decided to use the SD card method. I want to install HardSPL (the new one) first, so my device won't get messed up, so I researched on how to install HardSPL via SD Card. I found out that that I needed to rename the .nbh file to HERMIMG.nbh, and then I needed to put it into the "root folder". There's just one problem... where is this "root folder" located at?? I searched the net, but I couldn't find an answer. Even if I make it to view hidden files, the only folders I see are :WMDRM and MSMETADATA
And again, .... if I unlock my phone, it will go back to being LOCKED after I choose a carrier correct? In other words, it's not a: once you unlock it, it will ALWAYS be unlocked.... correct?
I ask cuz my phone was supposedly "unlocked" when purchasing, and if it was ALREADY unlocked in the first place, then maybe I won't need to unlock it again.

it's always a good idea to catch up with computer vocabularies, otherwise you'd have more and more challenges following up moving forward.
try again with google, i did try searching for "root folder" and got a bunch of relevant hits explaining what it is and where to find it.

[Q] s1tool sk17i unlock problem

i was trying to follow this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285285) to unlock my sk17i. i'm pretty sure i did the right thing at first, but during "PROCESSING … REMOVE TESTPOINT NOW, THEN PRESS "READY"" part, i removed the USB instead of just the test point.
now the problem is nothing happens anymore after i click Ready (after connecting the test point) when i try to Patch SECMBoot.
i tried the RESTORE but it said 'nothing to restore'
is there any way to solve this? or maybe reset the process i abandoned before?
Well, does your phone still can be turn on?If no,use wotanserver, and try to unlock it again...
yes it can still be turn on. everything is still normal.
i have looked through wotanserver before posting this, but hesitated to use it. can i just unlock my phone using it and without installing their firmwares?
and it said
Beside unlocking removes Invalid SIM Card or SIM network unlock PIN screens and allows you to use your phone with different network SIM card – unlocking is NOT supported by WotanClient software!

done it.
instead of connecting testpoint to USB (which i did before), i connected test point to ground-negative connector of the battery.
now i have unlocked the device.
but sadly i used wotanserver and my phone is back to stock -_-"
thanks.
@hizperion
just a question sir, why are you trying to unlock bootloader?
if you have done it already thru test point that should be it.
this would allow you to use fastboot on your phone to install custom kernel.
flashing thru wotan would definitely lead to stock since that is what it does...

the unlocking thru test point at the first time didn't work, because i plugged the USB out during the process. so it kinda stuck at some point (it seems like its already unlocked, but actually not yet). i tried to flash using fastboot but nothing happened too.
just check service menu.
if it states "bootloader unlocked : yes" then it is already unlocked.
if it states "bootloader unlock allowed :yes" then it is still locked.

well in that case, it was still locked
but i couldn't unlocked it anymore by connecting the testpoint to USB
connecting the testpoint to ground of the battery solved it, as mentioned above

when i installed 2.1 android officially through sony PC companion 2.1
after that i rooted my device and installed CWM through this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1490527
after that my battery died then when i switched ON my phone it directly went to recovery mode. and after pressing the back key my phone directly booted and showed an error "insert SIM card and then restart". i thought my phone was bricked therefore i repaired it through sony PC companion 2.1 again it is showing the same error. please HELP ME..!!
it sounds like your boot loader
theres allot of information to take in on this page but read it ALL theres a part about your sim lock certificate
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Troubleshooting section:
Common Problems:
1. My SIM Card is not recognised after unlocking phone with msm7227_setool2.cmd!
Ans: Redo unlocking procedure (step 5 onwards) using msm7227_semc.cmd.
hope this helps
(btw multi threads don't help either of us)
should i unlock only the SIM part..or the bootloader
I dont know the link you posted dosnt work
so i cant tell what you have done to your phone
dont panic there's allways a fix
im no expert!
but ill do my best to help you please provide me with every step you took up untill now
check it bro....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490527
im not sure if what you have is the same as mine but try this
turn on phone
press back button repeatedly to enter the recovery mode you mentioned
can you see options for
install zip from sd card
wipe data/factory reset?
you already had a tread about this, please stop flooding
still ..........again & again giving me same error............plezz dev help me............
stop flooding! it's annoying, check and clean the sim port, and also you should try with other sim to make sure it isn't a sim issue
Relock your bootloader. I can't detail how as I have never had to but make sure you're on stock! Some phones don't play nice with the unlocked bootloader and your sim won't work as a result. It's your only choice and you won't be able to unlock your bootloader without getting the phone sim unlocked by your carrier.

Redmi Note, Unlock bootloader (unoffical). oem unlock is not allowed while active

i tried to unlock my bootloader the offical way, but it apears to be impossible because their unlocking tool is very buggy and keep stucking at 50%.
so im doing it the unoffical way, after using this guide for unlocking https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/unlock-bootloader-twrp-root-7-2-3-t3359492.
im stuck in a point where it says cant unlock bootloader because OEM is locked, i tried it 2 times while checking it is on in my developer settings.
the device now is soft-brick(i know how to get it out of it), and idea how to unlock the bootloader?
ty, and sry for my english i tend to be confusing sometimes.
EDIT:::: GO TO COMMENT 6, Solution for me was just waiting a couple of days(using legit method)

I have the same problem, I have tried countless times, but it would still show the same error, even though in the past I have performed this method countless times with 100% success rate, but now, idk why this error shows up.. I have a feeling that reinstalling the windows and then following the procedure again might solve the issue, but I dont wanna go through all that deleting and reinstalling stuff.
No need ro reinstalling windows.
Just install adb drivers and confirm u are using same sim card number in slot 1...which is used for login into mi account in phone and pc.

i have all adb drivers installed and working(downloaded the clockwork ones so they are legit working), tried putting in the sim in slot 1 same issue.
it seems like a lot of people are having issues with that bootlocker, it's a shame i was happy to buy this device and now i regret every moment
EDIT:
today it worked, basiclly the solution is to wait, shame they dont mention it themself, no need to insert the sim
