My friend dropped his phone and the screen its completely out. He got his phone replaced under warranty but he still has his broken phone with pictures still on it. It doesn't get recognized when I plug it in via USB because USB debugging is off or its set to charge only or something along those lines. Is there a way for me to turn it on or get the files I need? I thought about getting a mini hdmi to hdmi and hooking it into a TV so I can turn USB debugging on but I'd like to try first without spending any cash.
Any ideas?

You obviously already checked whether the pictures were not on his external SD card, right? If so: Mini-HDMI is indeed your best bet. Of the touch screen does not work (and you are desperate) you could try to borrow/buy the dock with USB. The RAZR would make a nice Android TV box
There is an Android remote control app on the Play store, but I don't know how you could install it. Instead of being an app that you run on an Android to control some other device (e.g. a Windows PC), this is to let some other device (usually, but not necessarily, a Windows PC) control what's on the Android.
The only way that I can think that you *might* get this installed is if a DEV in the Development forum might be able to suggest how you could put the APK on your phone's Micro SD Card *plus* the Android equivalent of AutoExex.bat on a PC such that it would execute a routine on next boot to install that APK, suppressing errors (so that you're not stuck with a "do you really want to install this ****? yes/no" dialog that you can't see. The install would not only have to install this APK, but also configure it. This is a huge long shot. I'm way out on a limb, basically making **** up.
Good luck.

EDIT/NEW: What if you cabled your phone via hdmi to a tv? Wouldn't that let you at least *see* what the phone is outputting? The digitizer might still work well enough to fight your way through an install of the above app?
Search for android screencast. It's a java app for the pc that duplicates the phone screen on the pc.

Hi,
my S3 dropped down and the touch glas and the screen broked. The phone is still working I can take screenshots and see them on the sd card.
Im looking for a way to backup my appĀ“s and their data like the way mybackup pro does. I connected the phone via usb but the adb wont recordnize it. For this reason I think the usb debugging is unabled.
Any way to backup my files? I though of something like controlling the phone from pc but any solution I found needs usb debugging.
Is there a alternative way or a way to enable usb debugging from the pc?
thanks a lot.
Hi Guys,
I know this has sort of been asked a lot, but not in the same context/I have a twist!
Basically, I dropped my Nexus 4 the other day and the screen cracked. I went out and got the N5 the next day however I'm looking for a way to control my N4 so I can double check some of the settings and ensure I have pulled everything off it.
If I remember correctly I have ADB Debugging enabled and root access, and I read how to disable the lock screen and enable bluetooth, so I was wondering if there was a (free) way to turn my N5 into a bluetooth mouse which I can pair with the N4 and controll it that way.
Another way I was thinking of doing it was to somehow control the phone from my PC? Maybe find a way to emulate it from a nandroid backup or something? I'm not entirely sure of the best/easiest way of doing it.
But any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Hi guys,
I recently managed to launch my phone from my pocket at over 100ft on a fun fair ride - clever. It now boots up, makes the noises when booting and has the blue LED light as expected but the screen is dead.
I think I received a good few text messages while the screen was dead but it was on, and now I have my sim in another old phone (HTC wildfire S) I expected I would see all these unread texts but I do not. I am guessing these texts went to the s3 phone storage?
So I have a few questions:
]Do SMS back up to google accounts automatically? If so how can I recover them to the new phone?
Is there any way of me seeing the unread texts from my s3 through a USB connection to a PC? as it still connects to a computer and I can view the data.
I looked into controlling the screen of the broken s3 from a PC and it seems you need USB debugging turned on and I couldn't figure a way of doing that without the screen being on - anyone know if that is possible?
I also looked at getting a micro USB to HDMI adapter to try contol the screen from a computer, something like this - would that work? Micro USB MHL to HDMI Cable adapter HDTV Samsung Galaxy S3 S III i9300 S4 I9500 | eBay Is that something that could work?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

I have managed to back up my messages using 'samsung Kies 3' which creates a 'Message.sme' file, any ideas if there is a way I could view this .sme file on a computer? I have done some research with no luck so far...

I'm having the same problem, but with my S4. I've since replaced it with a nexus 5, but have important info stored on sms on my old phone that I need access to.
I accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet, now the screen won't turn on but the phone works when someone calls me, I click right where the answer button is and it works.
MY PHONE IS SAMSUNG GALAXY J5(2016) SM-J510FN, RUNNING ANDROID 7.1.1
My question is; Is there anyway I can see my phone's screen on my laptop, like mobizen or anything, without doing any configuration on my phone.
I have some important files and documents on my phone I need to get them, when I connect the phone to laptop I have to click allow access to storage but now I can't do that ...
Please any help would be appreciated
