Folks,
Phone was acting very odd today...had to force close a bunch of apps. Rebooted, phone looked as it went back to factory reset since I was asked to re-enter my google account info. Once I did that, all my icons were set back to default but otherwise, all apps/data were there. However, texting didn't work. Updated my profile. Afterwards, I get a notification that update to 45.3.6 was available so...I updated. All seemed well but still...no texting and still had to force close a bunch of apps. Later, I received notification that 45.4.13 was available so...I updated. This update got stuck and all I saw was the infamous rectangle/Andoid Icon. I rebooted and it would just hang at the Dual Core MOTO logo. Cleared cache...no dice. Finally, hard reset to factory. Still...no boot. Hangs on Dual Core Logo. Using recovery, went to see if I could install update via Sdcard. It wasn't there to use.
Question...what the f*uck do I do now?? Phone is not rooted. Can I transfer 45.4.13 to sdcard using file transfer from my laptop somehow. If oyu choose to offer help, please be as detailed as possible since I am no expert by far!
Thanks!
Big Daddy

I recently purchased an Optimus T and rooted it with z4root and then installed Titanium Backup to delete some of the preinstalled apps, like the Pacman Demo.
As I was removing each app, (~5 at this point) the Home button suddenly stopped working, followed by total phone death. Even after factory reset, when I was trying to access the phone, eventually I was shown a "... setup.exe stopped responding..." (or something like that) message and my phone just stayed stuck on the booting screen (android) every time I restart (w/o entering factory reset).
Does anyone have any ideas, or know which apps can prevent the phone from booting properly? A list of safe apps to delete would be helpful too. I thought I was pretty cautious with removing only non essential apps, but it seem bricked. Thanks again!

About list off apps, I have to agree. Even it there is litle problem with dependencies, some minimum describe of these issue will be great!!
So, about your problem - I think, that you will have to download original ROM and do flashing with KDZ_FW_UPdater. (search on xda for more information).
But definitely, if it's possible I would try to install custom recovery throw adb shell (android SDK tools) and do backup of system for possibility to recovery or saving at least few data, and after try wipe and install one of custom ROM.
This happened to me after I tried deleting preinstalled apps on my Optimus One... Sent it in for repairs since it just stopped working. The tech guy said he did a "software update" and everything is good as new (except for the LGMITS error once in a while)
They didn't even bother trying to fix mine. They just told me to send it in and gave me a replacement.
So I finally figured out what I did wrong - basically when I was doing the deleting, I accidentally deleted the LG Home app, which effectively deactivated my (duh) home button and effectively stopped everything from functioning properly. For some reason I thought it was just a simple link from my phone directly to the LG website, as would happen with new PCs very often. Well... won't be doing THAT again.
However, my web2go button isn't working. I have to force quit every time I try to click on it. Can I just get rid of it or will it just give me more trouble later on?
At least you knew what went wrong with yours... I was just erasing CarHome and Layar and the LG App Adviser among other things i wont be using like Twitter and Latitude.
And they even gave you a new one x__x I had to wait 5 days before everything was good as new. After the first fix, USB debugging and mass storage stopped working so I sent it in for another "software update"...
Hi Everyone,
I have the Motorola Razr XT910 with Android version 2.3.6 (the latest update). I had issues with the signal since last update mid February. So after so many trials to solve the issue, I decided to do a factory resetting yesterday. What happened is the signal became better, but I receive a continuous message whenever I connect to the internet. The message says "Sorry! The process com.motorola.service.main has stopped unexpectedly, please try again." So I have to force close. I tried to search for a solution in the net but no help.
Kindly help me

If you're rooted I would boot into recovery and wipe cache/system etc.
If you're not and don't plan to, then the only thing I think you would be able to do and hope it works would be to format internal storage and remove your SD card, do another factory restore and see if that clears it up.
Otherwise you're probably going to need to root so you have more control over the internal data to wipe and start fresh.
That process that is crashing is a core piece of the operating system. Something got borked along the way for some reason. Don't fret someone here much smarter than myself will be able to help you, just not at 11:30pm at night

Thanks for the help.
My Razr is not rooted so I'll try the 2nd option.
BTW, I'm in overseas now and it is morning time here.
Good afternoon all,
I have recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S3 via kies to Android 4.3. I couldn't do the update over the air as it was rooted. I had to go through and root my phone again through Odin and again all that went fine.
However since doing this I have had to restore my device 2 times as it shuts down every now and then and I find I 'lose' some apps...mainly games, which I find annoying. It also wipes any saved text messages.
At first I thought it was only losing apps that I'd downloaded through other means (i.e. not Play) but it appears not. I still have the apk files stored on the phone and have tried to re-install them but I get a message of 'app not installed'
Can anyone tell me why this is the case? As I have previously said it has only been since updating to Android 4.3. Not sure if it is due to rooting my phone (i'm guessing not).
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Chris

See multiple posts re OTA and root problems.
Suggest factory reset if that does not fix then flash stock 4.3 through Odin .
I know that I can't do OTA updates... My problem is that the phone will restart, without warning and when it reboots I have lost all my text messages and a few apps. Trying to reinstall the apk files gives me the error 'app not installed'
I have tried factory reset both through the recovery mode and the system settings, but nothing resolves it.
My phone is rooted and runs Android 4.3 which was updated through kies.
The apps it loses are games so that's not a major issue... It's all the text messages.
I have a very similar problem, phone always shuts down and restarts on it's own. A couple of times it has lost some apps but usually it just starts up again fine but it's very annoying. Sometimes it gets stuck in a boot loop too.
A Google search for random reboot or random shut down brings up a lot of results but no solution's, so it seems to be a common problem. It's not just the stock rom either as it still does it when rooted and running other roms.
Have a stock T-Mobile Note 8 I purchased in November. I've held off updating for quite some time - I was hoping a "great" root would come along so I was waiting.
Recently my Google app seemed to break - it would load and show the Google logo/whatever at the top but no information below. I tried deleting the cache, and then the app data - still no go. So I decided to finally apply the update that the phone keeps nudging me about. I think this was to go to BQLA.
And after the update...phone boots, compiles, and gets to an initial screen with "System UI has stopped". And that's it. Since I had bluetooth enabled I'm actually still able to answer calls via the headset - but nothing else.
I've tried a cache wipe via recovery - nothing. I tried running an update via Smart Switch (not sure to what version) - and after fiddling with the phone to get it into a mode Smart Switch would recognize it applied whatever that update was. Still get "System UI has stopped" after boot.
The only thing I haven't tried is a factory wipe & reset - because I'm still vaguely hopeful I won't have to and I don't know that it will fix anything anyway.
Any suggestions? Do I try using ODIN and an image from SamMobile? Take it to a Samsung Experience store at Best Buy?
You have done all the right things. your only option is to do a factory reset. hopefully you had things backed up to samsung cloud.
Do you have any overlays or substratum themes installed? I had the same issue awhile ago and I couldn't figure out what to remove via adb. I ended up factory resetting. I think there was something in one of the theming threads.
Edit: all the threads say either try to enter emergency mode or perform a factory reset through the stock recovery.
[hangs head in shame] - yes, I do. Can't stand the default white (why is Samsung so stupid as to use light-colored backgrounds with their AMOLED screens?!)! I guessed that was the case...
I took it to a local service center - and they wiped it (as well as updating to the latest and grittiest) - and it worked. Then I logged into my Samsung account and restored app data - and it locked up again. So now I've wiped twice more while fiddling with it - definitely substratum related.
Thanks for trying!

Your supposed to uninstall all and any substratum apps, mods or tweaks prior to updating or flashing anything

Last week on Thursday, I allowed Verizon to install their Software Update 21 (April 2020.) It made it as far as the going through the optimizing apps and then was stuck in a boot loop. The phone would be usable for about a minute, then would freeze, and then reboot. If I clicked on the System Update option in settings, it would say that a system update was in progress. I chatted with Verizon, and they ended up telling me that the only way to stop the update was to do a factory reset, which I am doing everything I can not to do that as I don't want to lose my data.
I changed it into maximum power mode and it did stop the update for that time being and I was able to use the phone, texting, etc. This allowed me to at least connect the phone to my computer to backup all of the directories. After many reboots, on Friday it finally stopped doing the update and gave me an error which I think was 410. It thought it was updated, though did show as failed. When checking for updates, it said it was the current version. Twice I was able to get the phone to stop by freezing when going to the app and stopping some programs (sadly, I was not able to remember the exact combination that worked) which allowed me to use the phone like normal. All this while, I was uninstalling a large amount of the apps that I had installed hoping that would minimize whatever may have been causing the problem.
Went to each of the google and samsung apps, stopped, disable, and reverted them all back to factory defaults. Guess that was a bad idea, from then on I received an error as soon as the phone started which caused it to go directly into recovery mode. I chatted with samsung and they thought it might be a hardware issue. I still think it is related to their software update, so not a hardware issue.
By using Odin, I loaded the firmware from March 2020, and when it rebooted, it did go as far as optimizing the apps, though anytime it booted up, it would never get past the white verizon loading screen. It took me hours before I discovered that Odin was failing to load the firmware on the phone as the Windows 10 laptop only had USB 3.0 ports which don't always work with Odin, and ended up being successful using my old Windows XP laptop as the USB 2.0 ports worked fine. After a bit hanging on the verizon loading screen, it would reboot and never went past. I have been able to load the March and April 2020, though none of them will ever get past that white verizon loading screen. I did see something say that in loading TWRP, I could possibly do a full backup of the phone which is what I would like to do.
One time I only loaded the AB file for a different version than I had loaded, and it was the first time it went beyond the white screen, only to tell me that the verification failed and it would need for me to do a factory reset. I was able to reboot the phone without actually doing the reset.
I have read many posts here and the forums on androidcentral, and with so many things, I really needed to post to get guidance from people here that can point me in the right direction for any other things that I can try. As you have read, doing everything that I can to get the phone working by keeping my data. Any help would really be appreciated.
