Maybe one day will be fixed. They said it's pretty difficult but all of them are great devs so i think that we have just to wait for now.

I can assure that devs are doing their best for fixing all issues. Don't think it's a big problem wait some more time. Sony didn't make us the favor to release jb for sony xperia u.Xda devs did .
For now the best thing is to enjoy a good rom based on ics

[Q] Ice Cream Sandwich

As the source code for ice cream sandwich will be out in a month or two & as already google has told that there will be no specific hardware requirements...
So will our little optimus one be able to taste this yummy dessert???
We are having so many talented developers for our o1 n hope that someone will really make it out.... Whats your opinion guys???
w/o to see the (new???) code based on ICS we cant say if its possible or if we
have to re-patch a lot of things in android to get it work with this device.
think about that fact, the P500 is a low budget device and there are some hardware
barriers to solve than.
IMHO i think, its possible - its a question of time only.
As long as Andy develops for our phone,we can also expect jelly beans on p500.

It's be hard to port over 3.0.1 kernel or something, so it should be based on .32 or .35

anyone continue working on GB development?

i think no one is bothered to look back after getting ICS updats.. GB was awesome than ICS. only thing is Apps different..
y ppl r not turning back to work on GB.. Plz can some 1 can help developing a custom rom based on GB?
or teach us so we can develop our own GB custom rom....
i think that GB custom rom in Dev. section has reached its maximum performance, it's totally perfect ..
so what you need more / develop more for GB ?

What is there left to do? They are no new feature that can be ported because of limitations in the API e.g. faceunlock. so why bother, all the roms (well most) are running perfect and smooth and fast. Ics is better now. Just have to wait for the devs to optimize it a bit more, then it will be perfect fast and smooth too. But now that jellybean is out, thats where dev is going for us. the next version of android will be out by the time roms become smooth and fast, then the devs will start again.
Cheers,
Evil.

Nobody wanna look to the past, pals. Every version has a limit and developers will always look for the next new feature.

nah! there's no hard feel buddy. I, myself, agree that GB is better. but think again, GB has released since 2010 comparing to ICS which has released October 2011. And it's almost 2 years for GB. no wonder we could say GB is better for ICS today. just wait the devs to gain it to be better. but since JB has released, I also wonder about it.
well said, if you still want to work with GB i hope you could get what you really wish.

ICS killing development

HI,
i just wanted to share my thoughts on the lack of development that i'm noticing these days. When i bought a XMP, i was seeing a lot of mods and development happening in the XMP forum. New GB Roms/updated ROMS every week. Increasing performance week by week, Then sony released ICS, buggy and slow. All devs soon started raping it, but nothing great happened (apart from kamarush's minicms, which is still not very stable, also has camera recording stuttering). I've seen and used ROM's that came out such as RealICS, NeroICS, ICEHybrom.. all lacking performance, ROM's like real ICS does have issues with XMP (camera flash light not working properly), we also lost a good dev 'bbooff' due to idiotic members demanding like they paid a million $ to him to develop for XMP. The thing is most dev's are not devs, they are just modders. There are flaws in sony's ICS, unless you know how to debug and re-code and fix the actual problem, there is no point in simply putting all the optimization scripts and tweaks in the ROM. Most of the so called devs are doing the above. The only exception is kamarush and expacer, though they also have their limitations. GB development is halted! why?
I'd request the real dev's (kamarush & expacer) to try to fix the issues in sony ICS and the other modders to work on GB versions.
Plz do share your thoughts on my thoughts.

I too hope JB version to be better than ICS. But i am not sure if they can make all the features work properly, such as Xloud, FM and bravia. Those are sony proprietary stuff, if the ICS version files are compatible, then it'd be great. but i highly doubt so. Anyhow, lets hope for the best.

[Info] [Sola] Xperia S ICS ported to Sola

A big hello to all fellow Sola users and all our great developers! Yeah, that's right, a great guy, Gabriel Stevan, has already ported Xperia S ICS to our Sola. I found him on Antutu where I saw his Sola running ICS and scoring around some whopping 6k @ 810MHz and around 7k @ 1.6GHz :-o I connected with him on Facebook and he told me that he had ported ICS but was unable to upload it due to poor internet speeds I'm sure many of you would love to have it but it is totally up to him. I don't know if he is here on XDA or not but it was a wonderful news so I couldn't resist sharing it with you all.
However, with the official update nearby, getting a ported firmware hardly makes sense but I sincerely do think that we must applaud his great work.
If he is on XDA, I'd like him to reply too.
Thanks
For sola? Hmmmm

I think you're right :good::laugh:
Sharing my thoughts on this alleged port, which would be great if true.
Well, I don't know the size of sola roms, but if the ROM is 200MB, and let's say he has a 64 kb ISDN connection or whatever, the upload would take about 7 hours. That ROM would finish uploading while he is at work/school one day. So if he managed to download all the framework, source and tools to make this happen (which would take about 15-24 hours I guess, in this case), he would also be proud and eager enough to share his work by uploading it.
I tink we're talking proof or gtfo here.
It would be possible to almost clean port an Xperia P build to the U, because hardware wise theh are mostly the same, apart from the RAM in the P.
