Hi,
I found this nice tool to ROOT the Xperia P (and actualy all Xperia series!).
I guess many of you know this:
DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit v16
I read a lot by Google about ROOTING the Xperia P + Xperia SL too and i dont understand the thing with BOOTLOADER UNLOCKING:
1) Is there a chance that the Bootloader comes unlocked from manufacturer?
2) If it do comes LOCKED in each N' each model - by doing the ROOT it unlocking the bootloader?
3) And...if NOT by the Root procedure - How may i supposed to unlock it?
Thank you for your time!

1) Maybe some devices for devs could have unlocked bootloader. Not the one we actually buy
2)Root will not unlock the bootloader. Root will make you access all system and data files of your phone.
3)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159 Here is how you can unlock it

Thanks for your answer.
1. If i only want to be able to access all system file (root) and do replace the rom, I MUST UNLOCK IT?
What is the unlcoking thing gives?
2. Executing the ROOT will remove the ROM too?
3. I first have to make the ROOT and only afterwords UNLOCKING the device?
Thanks again!

1) You have to unlock the device only if you want to install roms like cm, muiu etc or in case you want to install a custom kernel. You don't have to unlock bootloader to root. There are also kernels that have autoroot scripts, that means, that after you unlock your bootloader you can install a custom kernel and have root without doing anything else.
2)No, it will not remove your rom. Otherwise will be useless mate
3)No. You can unlock bootloader but have stock firmware just as mom sony gave it to us.
4)Don't say thanks bro, hit the thanks button

So in case i want to stay with the stock (haven't noticed to Hebrew baked rom for the P + SL), i just need to ROOT it.
From your experience (or knowledge) - which method of ROOTING the experia P + SL would be the most easier one? ("one click do all" style)
The root isnt replacing the Recovery, am i right?
I will hit the the thanks button AND will write it too - as i appreciate everybody help here:good:

Nope. You have to install cwm by yourself. To install cmw you must be rooted.
This is the cwm for xperia p: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020895&highlight=cwm. It's for ics but should work on jb too.
Instead of the CWM - i can just pass on it and install TWRP?
Or i won't able to flash the TWRP without a costum recovery (and that's why i need to first flash the cwm)?
The cwm is installed by connecting the device to PC (with usb debugging ) -> click on the install file.
This is the method?

Have no idea about TWRP mate. Can't help you on this.
As about cwm installation, yes that's the procedure. The procedure is the one you can find on the first post of the link i gave you.
Root and cwm are pretty simple to install (thanks to devs for making this possible) and very useful

If you have hebrew support for keyboard morelocale2 should be able rp change the interface to hebrew too.
I'm cirrently on The Dark ROM V2.5, and can use hebrew.
Make sure to backup you're original ROM or create the FTF file from PCC files.

ChikeD,
You right!
morelocale2 will turn everything to Hebrew :good:
Maybe you or anyone that know more then 1 Rooting method, can tell me for the most easiest "1 click to root" tool?
I looking to find a tool that i just need to:
1) Plug the Xperia to the usb port.
2) Open the Rooting SCRIPT.
3) Hit something ......... AND LET THE PARTY BEGIN.
Dont want to write / copy the commands.
P.S: regarding the Backup of the original ROM - it done in the phone - after i connect it and open the script, am i right?
Thanks!

Only one I know is DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit, yes you have to type 3 lines, realy not that difficult. You can copy them form the console window and paste the there (right click + mark, nark the command, press enter, then right click and paste).

I thnk you can only backup the formware after having root , haven't done it myself, I just use the FTF I have built from PCC files.
Thanks (;
But as there is 1-2 tool's that do it in 1 click without copy->paste ... i prefer them.
I found these that doing that in 1 click:
1) DooMLoRD
2) Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 more important thing - please look at the attached screenshot of the xperia driver.
During the installation - what do i have to chose in "i386"? (i have an Intel pc). **there is 3 dll files there**

To sum up:
-root gives you access to the system files, which gives you the possibility to install apps that give you more privileges over your phone(cwm, ad blocks,etc...)! I used the doomlord method to root my XP.
-CWM: I installed CWM using recoveryx (Google it)!
-root & CWM: while having root access and CWM installed, you can flash some stock based roms(e.g. dark Rom, moonbreaker...)
-unlock bootloader: this option gives you the possibility to flash CUSTOM kernels(sliding, phantom...). A custom kernel provides you more governors, io schedulers, tweaks that extends your phone's battery life, performance,etc... keep in mind that after unlocking the bootloader you cannot have updates from mother Sony(as I've read, there are ways to relock your device but I don't know how).. but that's why we have xda also, with the bootloader unlocked, you can use the flashtool to flash stock firmware(in case something goes wrong)!
Right now, I have my bootloader unlocked using the sliding v9 kernel and Dark ROM v2.5....I am pretty satisfied because the battery life is slightly improved and the well known call lag seems to be fixed.
Hi hliasant,
Thanks so much for all the blessed info'!!
I just found out that i CANNOT use DooMLoRD method Bc's both of the devices on ICS.
B.T.W: it could be tha the SL is (only) on 4.0 ICS ?
Is there any tool that make the 3 procedures ("1 tool do all"...)?
Anyway, i dont want to move away from the thread topic...Is it o.k if i'll pm with you?
Thanks!
Feel free to pm me...
I'd recommend you update to latest firmware on your Xperia p, then do the rest jobs! I can only help you with your Xperia P as I ,too, have one
Concerning your SL, I have no clue about what you can do with it... :-\ you can either create another thread or search the forums!
Hi,
Just rooted the SL by using the DooMLoRD - this was so easy!
Maybe i'll wait for DooMLoRD version that will support the P 4.0.4 6.1.1B.1.54 too.
Why don't you update your Xperia p to 6.2.a.1.100 using the pc companion?

I think i may have casued too much confusion.
Let me start at the begining.
I am on build 4.0.A.2.364.
According to the posts at start, if I want to use the ROM then I need to be on 4.0.A.2.368.
Questions;
1) Do I need to be on 4.0.A.2.368 to use the aforementioned ROM?
2) If yes then how do I get to 4.0.A.2.368 as the first article says I need to be on 4.0.A.2.368 to use the firmware. If this is the firmware that gets me to 4.0.A.2.368 then Im going round and round in circle - e.g. im not on 4.0.A.2.368 but cant get to it as I need to be on it in order to flash the firmware
Hope that makes sense

Thank you. Makes perfect sense.
I used Flashtools 3.0 to flash the firmware for STi15 (Mini). Went through the process and at end states I need to turn on phone, activate debug mode and unknown sources. So far so good. Once this is done Flastool shows choice of two devices that mine should (Mini Pro (SK17) and X10 ) It did not show Xperia Mini.
I checked the devices folder and found one for Sk17i and one X10. There is no folder for STi15 (Xperia Mini).
When I checked my build number it says 4.0.a.2.368 (was previously 364).
Does this mean flashtool has worked?
Can I now continue with Root process?
Thanks
Edited as follows:
Flashtools wont root it as it doesnt recognise the device. I believe I need to create a folder for STi15 and put appropriate files in there. What are these files? Do I need to edit any of them?
Superoneclick got to 'Rooting device Step#5' and just sat there for about 15 minutes before I disconnected it.
Edited again:
After disconnecting it went to step 6 and 7. I reconnected device and it said Busybox not installed - install it?
I selected Yes.
Completed and said device rooted.
I rebooted, ran Superuser, installed Root Explorer, Ran Root explorer, got the prompt from superuser for permissions. Granted permissions and it seems I have root access

Since rooting directly in 4.0.4 is not possible, one needs to downgrade to a rootable GB ROM to root. (Skip this step if you are already in GB).
To Downgrade, you need to flash an old GB ROM ftf to your device.

Proceed with the flashing Process.
Here, you can also use PC Companion or Sony Update Center if you want for updating. While updating with SUS, make you sure you perform the recommended install and do not wipe data.
Once the flashing is done, turn ON the device (If using PCC or SUS you will be prompted to turn ON). During the first boot, the device might reboot. In that case, after second boot it will turn on normally.
In case it gets into bootloop, proceed to next step right away.
Else proceed to next step with your phone turned ON.
V. Root 4.0.4 ROM:
From the Xperia-ROOT.rev3.zip file you downloaded earlier in step 3, open the file 02-push-root-files.cmd.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Device will reboot.
Once re-boot is done, you will have SuperUser installed in the 4.0.4 ROM.
***
Note: Using this method, you can also root .62 GB firmware. For this, just flash the .62 ROM in place of 4.0.4 ROM, in step IV.

Rick.

Hey...I have succes with this method... but do I must delete the data/local.prop???
Edit: nevermind...I have checked my data/local.prop and it is the same before I use the local.prop.cmd thing...
Just one question, since I still haven't got it clear: when you say "remove local.prop" you mean i have to remove the whole file or just edit it and delete "ro.kernel.qemu=1" line?
Loosing warranty
I have a Xperia Mini Pro, but there is not an update for ICS in my country available yet. Do I have to wait for it?

After puppet updated his script to v3, the file is removed automatically.
In case you had rooted using the earlier versions, then you need to remove the file from \data.
Else, if you used v3, you need not.
(Android OS builds this file automatically if it is not available)
Thanks,
Rick.

No. You need not. If you follow according to this thread, you will get the ROM along with root, without waiting for Sony to release it.
Note: Your warranty might get void in carrying out these steps.

Sure
So if bootloader stays locked, how its possible that I will void my warrianty?
Who said you will void your warranty? :O
Anyway, I suppose that if you take the phone to SE Centre and they find out you have installed, for example, a generic firmware, they could tell you that you voided your warranty. Maybe. Dunno
I do not want flash rom !need program like "unlockingroot"
easy to use and Safe PLZ...
what is the method of installing clockworkmod recovery in this method of rooting
thank u..
Wow... just can say AMAZING TUTORIAL! I've already thanked you and puppet13th
I have a little problem even tho everything went as described in the tutorial, and I apparently have root access (superuser is installed and prompts when I try to give apps like ES Explorer root access and other stuff). BUT, titanium backup doesn't seem to work, it doesn't acknowledge that I got rooted and thus it doesn't work. Tried installing busybox, that went ok, but still titanium backup doesn't work... any help would be appreciated!
sorry nvm.... either the reinstall of titanium backup or another reboot solved it all
I woke up 3:00 in the morning today, followed this TUT and successfully rooted my LWW running on Official ICS 4.0.4!
Thanks a bunch!

O.k...so it should be:
1. Unroot...let the tool do the process...
2. Option 1...let it do the process and finish.
What is the chanse that this process can overwrite the files system (b.l, radio, rom...) and resolve the problem?

Only sucseed unlocking the bootloader.
I tried also to change the kernal (read it on another guide) but it just wasnt helpful.
I think that the solution will be ONLY by flashing the factory rom + factory kernel by the flashtool.

I did not suggest to unlock the bootloader, I just asked, because PCC would not update unlocked bootloader.
Have you tried SUS? It won't update unlocjed BL either, and won't even begin to update, I had a message telling I have a modified FW and it cannot update, but PCC only fails after it download the files.
What error did you get in PCC?
"Factory rom" vary from country and service providers if it sold with a contract. Which ROM exactly do you need?
Which FW version do you have now?

Never, NEVER, flash something to a GPe from the normal C68xx range.
At best you will pull your hear out, at worst you will end up with a very expensive waterproof coaster. There have been 3 or 4 hard brick of the GPe from people flashing the wrong things to their GPe.
Files for the GPe will be labeled as such and will most often be in the GPe dev section

Other features will be listed as and when
HAVING PROBLEMS FLASHING? See this post Here by @mayanks15603 Thanks again bro.
For those flashing the entire .ftf YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THAT!!
Unless you bricked it of course and then the .ftf you flash should be the one designed specifically for your phone.
At this time we only have a choice of Android 5.0 or 5.1 so all you really need to flash is the boot.sin and system.sin from the .tft and Tick wipe userdata if you flashing between 5.0 >< 5.1 and vice versa.
IF and when 6.0 M is released then PLEASE give people who know the chance to investigate any changes to things like Partition layout and File System format before you dive in. :silly:
WARNING: Do not use any version above v0.9.18.6 as they will brick your device!!! (This is also stated on the FlashTool website)
The Previous release (0.9.18.6) is available from the downloads page HERE and should be OK for our C4 C5.
If anyone knows how to recover a device that has been bricked using said version could they please share it.
For the Noob's In this short tut I posted the maximum amount you should ever need to flash and in 99% of cases only the boot.sin and system.sin need to be flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-c5-ultra/development/androxydes-flashtool-features-xperia-c4-t3292650/page3
OK since the OP above seems not to be clear enough for some people let me remind you...
1. This is not F****** Facebook!!! so don't send me friend requests PM's etc unless you know me personally or we are working together on some project.
This is a FORUM which is totally different. If you do not know what a forum is or how they work then you should not be on here.
Here is a list of the RULES for the FORUM in general these are not mine but XDA's so stick to them. http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
2. Do your own googling and searching!!!
Some people are too lazy or too stupid to read the thread/posts or use the search options.
I am constantly amazed by the amount of people who want to root their phones etc who clearly have no idea what they are doing or even why they are doing it :silly:
3. READ THIS it echo's my thoughts perfectly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16682226&postcount=2439
4, If you are a genuine newb as defined there and who has read the Thread and done some searching but is still unclear then we will gladly help. :good:
Be warned though this sort of stuff is quite advanced and you should be at a reasonable state of understanding about how your smartphone works and what these tools do already. :silly:
You should be proficient with the terminology used in Android/Linux. :good:
You should be proficient at installing drivers and know how to use a PC and it's programs correctly. :good:
You should know how to use command line tools such as adb and fastboot :good:
If you are a Noob as defined there then you should keep away. :victory:

I flashed the full ftf file.. With the exception of removing the .ta file from the main package.. It worked and it didn't relock the boot loader or anything so the bootloader remained unlocked even after flashing it.. So yeah.. Also you have to be sure to check mark wipe user data option otherwise it will just flash system on top of the existing modified/non modified rom ...
Hope that helps !

Well, I cannot flash anything on my C5.
With flashtool it gives an error that says something like "boot.sin finished with error"
And is kinda urgent, because I have a bricked phone
P.S. Sorry for my poor english
FOR EVERYONE HAVING PROBLEMS FLASHING !
Be sure to select the lowest speed in the flashtool options just when you select firmware to be flashed.. It should be set at the lowest..
It solves the bootloader.sin error.. So all the best to everyone having problems.. They'll be surely fixed.. All the best.. And do report back
Peace! Cheers!

Device not identified
HI
I tried to connect my Xperia C5 Ultra Dual E5533 and here is the error received in FlashTool :
"18/000/2016 12:00:54 - ERROR - (MainSWT.java:1055) - Cannot identify your device."
Is there a way to cancel this type or error?
Thanks
