Xperia Sola Advices, Tips to increase battery duration - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi,
So As many XPERIA Sola users I am facing huge battery problems, everything else with this phone is just fine.
Could someone post some tips advices for getting it to last longer as possible... and I wanted to know for sure is it better to use battery saving apps or don t... personally I use Easy Battery Saver and Advanced Task Killer I have used these apps for 3 phones now, this is 3rd... previous 2 seemed to work fine with them.
So here is what I did for now:
-Display brightness - lowest
-Bravia engine - off
-NFC - off
-Keep Wi-Fi & Bluetooth - off when not needed
-Mobile Data - allways off, don t use it at all
-Live Wallpaper - disabled
I am using 6.0.B.3.184 GB firmware
At the beginning I was facing charging problem so I decided to update my phone to ICS witch was a huge mistake, phone was lagging horribly, battery indicator % kept counting down like 1% per minute or less when screen was on(for real), so i downgraded it to 6.0.B.3.184, and thank God it went back to normal, but still battery seems weak...
Another question...How about Rooting phone and install Set CPU app to change processor speed? Is it worth it? And will phone lagg more?
Any help will be appreciated
My English is not perfect but I think u guys understand everything
Thanks.

anyone?

Install ICS, use transcendce kernel and remove all bloatware (all apps you dont need). Let it charge up to 100percent and all will be ok.
I can get 2 days with this.
And never use any taks killers.

Okey... Thanks Mate...
Sorry for me posting in the wrong section.
How to enable android task killer to kill apps more often? Is it possible.?.. I don t want to do it manually.

Bro just use one app ''greenify'' u donot need to use anything not even the taskkiller or manager, greenify actually hibernates all the background apps and it will make ur Xperia sola superfast. Try it

If you are rooted then replace your build.prop with the one provided in the link below. It largely increases your battery's efficiency. It works for me. Try it.

so just to be sure I need to download v1.9 Neutron Energy Build.prop For Xperia Sola ICS 6.1.1.B.1.54 01-07-2013 since I have 54th firmware on Sola and then I need to just change build.prop file in system/build.prop directory and that's it?
No restart or what so ever..?
And how much better is the battery life... does it changes the preformance? If my Sola runs verry smooth now will it lag after I change file?

Reboot after you change the build prop... Then in developer option change background processes to 2 or 3.. Also disable all those system apps you don't use.. and use greenify to hibernate other apps

Exactly. Download that version. Then replace it with the build.prop present in your device with proper permissions. Restart your cell after that. Battery life would surely improve. Previously I had to charge my battery twice in a day now it lasts for a complete day. Isn't that a major difference?
Helped??? Press Thanks.

Nice,, since i am the first one i would like to point out three things.
first this is noot a themed rom like the other. It includes the xperia framework and many xperia apps , libs and others.
Secondly, the Flash player is already included, no need to install another one.
Finally the Fserves kernel is already included in the latest release v1.4.
Thank you for your work.
Regards
Thanks for pointing out my mistakes..,
Now, could u tell which among fserves kernel you have included?so that I can include it in faq cos many people wonder which kernel it is since it shows blank in about phone .and I misunderstood you bcos u had given credit to Franco for kernel!have edited my first post!
Edit:having a strange bug, whenever I plugin my charger n use the phone, touch lags n keyboard types letters on its own..using Franco.gbs.v18c
Edit 2:works fine now after just unplugging the charger n repluggging it

Ok, I had some impromptu questions.
At first look the ROM looks great. I'm not concerned about the battery life, just the performance. Could anyone post their neocore fps and advanced quadrant scores? [just as a reference]
Also, does this ROM/kernel combo solve the CPU drain problem caused due to our touchscreen? Basically can one play HD Games on it sans any lag?
And, for which kernels is this ROM intergrated?
Thanks.
Its based on. 32 kernel ..neocore as per a user's report in dev forum is 62fps(with sound) and quadrant advanced is sumwhere around 15xx..
I do not know about the CPU drain but battery is good and touch responsiveness is really good..its really fast..
I played nfs shift without anylag

NFS Shift does not require touching the screen.

[Q] whats V6 SuperCharger?

i have seen this name some where in xda,i dont understand its use
can you explain what it is and for what it is used for?
Improves phone's RAM.
You can set it to have more or less free RAM, so you can run apps, that need much RAM(games) or have more apps open at one time(multitasking) or just improve phone's speed.
It changes the minfree amounts, that is when Android starts killing apps to free up RAM.
how can i do it in my xm? can you help me

This is the topic to V6 Supercharger, look in the post, there is guide for Script Manager and Terminal Emulator, both ways can be used.
Make sure your phone is rooted, else it will not work.

[Sola]I will Not Install ICS On my my xperia Sola!

Today i flashed ICS 6.1.10 global rom in my sony xperia sola. After installing it i was in big trouble. When Charger or headPhone is Connected touch works ****. Aweful Performance. Everything was laggy. I was really disappointed. So now I have came back to GB 2.3.7. My xperia Runs like a Charm now. No single issue. some people complaining about battery but i have not noticed any fast battery drainage.
One thing that bothers me is that my friend Has a chinese brand mobile 1ghz processor, 512 mb ram. Even that has ICS and it works good. Then Why Sola lags on ICS?
I will come to ICS when All bugs will be fixed. I can not compromise performance.
I will wait till good reviews by users about ICS.
I hope that I have posted this topic in right forum.
Hi, I totally agree with what you said. You should however try the latest ICS, there is a new one after .10 it ends with .54. It is much faster. I would at least try it. There are uploads of that ROM here if you're interested.
CM 9.1 is for you, must give a try.

Poor you.. Lol kidding. Totally disagree. Man, get the newer firmware. That is old one. I have some tips for you. In settings go to development options and checklist force gpu rendering and set background process limit to at most 3 processes. It even better than GB! You will not say that thing if you know how to customize your Android phone.

Mine Chinese phone with 512 MB RAM also is working better than Sony. The thing is that sola manages RAM poorly. However on fxp cm9 150 with zRam set to 26 % I no longer have issues with lags or freeze.
BTW. To the above post. Forcing gpu rendering will cause system to use more RAM, so it's the other way round.

after limiting background processes to 3? what you meant by that? bro Android is for multitasking. Mostly what we do "Using internet, listening songs, testing and sometime playing games". On GB i am running browser, play store, facebook and sometime messages without disturbing other processes. anyway i will try .54.
On ICS screen colors look aweful. On GB colors are very bright and shining. Seeing angles much more than decent. and on ics everything is ****. Lets try .54..
Which one Should I try? Global or central europe or indian?

Hi bro, nice to see you again. Yes android is for multitasking. But with set at most 3 processes doesn't mean you can't multitasking. You still can use your phone for browsing, listening to music, update status on facebook.. Don't worry about that. It will just makes more free ram especially when you gaming. You also can use Android Assistant from play store to kill some process if you want to gaming by pressing quick boost button(I just use it if I want to play a game). You can set built in task killer using auto memory manager (must be rooted). It's ICS, which takes more RAM than GB.

[INFO&GUIDE] Eliminate all lags! :D

Guys, you really have to take a look on that : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032
If you are a noob (it's not a shame, relax, everyone was once, don't be offended), just download the apk which is attached in the 1st post on the above link, install it, run it, click ON, check start automatically on boot and press HOME button to leave it in backround (<-- that's important). Now let it settle for a minute.
If you are an andvanced user, just flash the attached zip below to enable it. Now let it settle for a minute!!!
To disable it, just delete /system/etc/init.d/23seeder
If you are a developer, you really have to see the link above.
This may be resource hungry, this means that it may drain the battery a little bit, but version 2, saves battery when screen off. Some have reported that there is no notable battery drain. I have tested it too and so far I don't see any battery drain. But, camera loads in less than 1 second, gallery loads a lot of faster, phone app, messaging app, settings load faster and generally the lag is literally gone!
I highly recommend you flash the zip instead of using the app.
Best used on GingerBread.
Don't forget to click thanks to lambgx02 to his original thread!
PS. If you notice some lag, probably you didn't let it settle down, but relax, it will happen only once and remember this is an early alpha version.
If you are having problems and want to manually install it :
1) Download the zip from below
2) Open it and copy each file to it's corresponding folder in your phone
3) Set permissions to both rwx r-x r-x also known as 755
rwx r-x r-x is this :
User | x | x | x |
Group| x |__| x |
Other | x |__| x |

You have to flash [CWM]entropy_seeder(NO-LAGS).zip which is attached in my OP. The original thread has 3 files which should not bother you, apart from the apk in case you want to use it instead of flashing. The zip does the same as the apk, but the apk is buggy and if it's not running in background it won't work. The zip just copies the rngd binary and a script (named 23seeder) which executes that binary on each boot. No info in OP provided an installtion method on the original thread, so I decided to create this flashable zip for your convenience.
It doesn't need any modification to be device specific, it is universal and works on GB, ICS and JB. It works on all phones.
To be honest rarely it causes some very small lag, but it really boosts up performance for me. :good:

Well, it's usage depends on usage.
Don't thank me, thank the creator of this on his original thread!

Yeah, some people have reported that they get better scores, while some others get worse. I don't know, it depends. I am not an expert to answer this, you should head over to original thread to investigate things if you want to learn more... And, why does the score matter? I believe that the performance you see and notice matters, unless you notice unwanted things like battery drain and occasional lags.

If you have installed the app, make sure it runs in background, otherwise it shuts down. That's why I recomment the flashable zip.
To make the app run in the background, open the app, click ON and press HOME button to minimize it in background. Personally, I find this very annoying. I find more handy to remove the script from init.d when I don't want it.

The fact is that it works and it's of some use.

Sony Xperia Neo L lag

Hi, I recently purchased Xperia Neo L. Since I have started using the phone it has become quite laggy. I mean opening contacts or dialler etc taked quite a time. Is there any way to solve this lag? Will rooting help? Hope to hear soon.
Thanks

Rooting as such won't help get rid of Lag ! But rooting gives you the gateway to flash custom Roms and get rid of the lag you have no stock Rom!
Take a read of the sticky threads in dev section and general!
Then you can proceed and incase you get stuck up,you can always ask!

That won't help either!
You'd get launcher re draws and lags later on! And battery drain as well, possibly!

Try to install the latest version as it improved the power management... I used SEEDER to reduce lag of my note 2 (actually I just want to make sure it performs the best speed without lag, without using it my phone works fine). :-
For the battery drain issue, I used One Power Guard, which I tested before, it does reduce the power usage (Got a very good result during deep sleep, and daily usage... usually without using it, my battery drains at least 7% after whole night, while using it, my battery only drains about 3% the most!)
TRY AGAIN (IF IT DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU I AM SO SORRY...)
MY BEST RECOMMENDATION IS FLASH A CUSTOM ROM (less bloatwares and tweeked for maximum performance) AND CUSTOM KERNEL (better RAM management and other stuffs which will help to improve stability of your phone, including battery saving). DO SOME UNDERVOLTING... IT WILL HELP...

Sorry for a little add-on, I used SEEDER and One Power Guard on my MT15i (Stock ROM with zero bloatwares, and a CUSTOM Kernel). NO PROBLEM so far...

I'm on stock .631, I experienced this too, IMHO seeder doesn't helps on my side still i noticed lags and slowdowns in the phone.
You know what i did? flash a custom Kernel(i had the BL unlocked), the tigris kernel by bootbu9, flash the the latest adreno libs(thank you Saingpor for helping me :highfive: ) and remove bloatwares. Now the phone seems fluid and responsive, no more lags maybe just a little bit but not always the same as before, since i use my phone normally(no games) I just OC at 245min and 1018max with smartassv2 governor and NOOP scheduler. Now my phone operates as i wanted it to be.
I have installed betterbatterystats, system panel, cpu cpy app to monitor the phones power usage. Battery and standby varies, it mainly depends on how the user uses the phone, apps installed on it so for me IMHO there is no such thing as battery saver app(sometimes they only just cause wakelocks on my experience). Just do the basics, manually switch off wifi, BT when not in use, adjust the brightness(i uncheck the adapt to lighting conditions - light sensor), turn on airplane mode if you want to keep your phone away or simply turn the phone off if you really want to save power, Turn off 3g and or background data if its not neccessry, etc. In this way you really can save your phones battery power.

Yup...there was same problem for me...but now after rooting...i flashed "jb adrena libs" then very smooth now. even no lags for some hd games to.
I too facing same problem. I flashed Jelly sandwich ROM and it run much smoother now.
Go for jellybean roms.. You need not flash any drivers, u don't need seeder, u don't need to debloat.. Development for xperia play is very good at this moment.. Our Neo L is similar to play... So almost all roms of play work on our mobile.. The development for Neo L is also good... Currently I am on racing cm10.. It's based on cm10.. Rom is so amazing... Trust me, u ll love cm10.. Plus u have an advantage of themes... These themes ll transform ur phone to any look u desire.. I have used MIUIv5, sense5,motorola UI, Ubuntu UI and many more...

Here. The OP saying about the Rom
Sound is low. It exists throughout all jb Roms. It can't be avoided
The camera can only record in 480p
Blame sony for not releasing camera libs source

You are welcome dude... There is one more CM10 based ROM... It is good looking and works well.. It is very smooth, you ll not notice any bugs.. Give it some hours to settle after flashing.. Then it will become smooth... Works very well.. follow the instructions in the OP.... Click here
Yes, 480p on Jelly Bean.
That's the ONLY reason why I'm still on ICS...
