Hey all,
I just got a cell phone for work (non-smartphone), and went to transfer some contacts from my Jellybeaned X2 via bluetooth... but it doesn't seem to work. I was able to transfer contacts from the work phone to my X2, but not from my JB X2 to the dumbphone. I fired up my wife's old X2 (stock, no longer in service), and was able to transfer contacts from it via bluetooth to my JB X2 and to my work phone. I was unable to transfer any contact info from my JB X2 to the old stock X2. I did transfer a photo just fine, and I use a bluetooth headset pretty frequently without issue. I haven't used bluetooth with my car stereo for a while, but I seem to remember that after I flashed JB it didn't transfer my phonebook to my car stereo either. Is there a fix or a workaround? Thanks in advance,

Although I can't guarantee it, I am willing to bet it's because of the way that Android handles contacts. It can read contacts from older phones, "upgrading" them to the Android version, and save them in it's own format, but not the other way around. That's why it works with the other X2 on stock.

Hey all,
I have been using my Eris with a bluetooth Stereo for a quite a while, but when I rooted the phone over to a 2.1 ROM it started using Simple Secure Pairing (SSP) when authenticating the bluetooth headphones. My car stereo doesn't support this (its brand new too...).
So, the question is has anyone ever looked into disabling SSP and forcing it to use the old static key method of pairing in 2.1?
I am not adverse to diving in and doing the dev work, I just wanted to make sure someone hasn't already done it. If I do need to dive in does anyone know if its possible to disable it via a config file, or will I need to backport the bluez stack?
Thanks for all the great work,
traetox
I too am having this issue. Worked fine in 1.5 but ever since root it will play audio through pioneer head unit but phone won't connect. I will patiently await a fix.

Oh, so that's what's up.
I'm having a similar problem with my Jabra Cruiser bluetooth speakerphone/FM transmitter. What mine does, though, is it will connect and I can use it to listen to music and do the normal speakerphone functions like it normally would, but none of the media buttons will work anymore. It's not a huge inconvenience, since I mount my phone in the car anyway (long commute). It's only a problem if I need to have Google Navigation in the foreground but still want to change songs.
Patiently waiting. You devs are awesome, if you don't get enough sycophantic slobbering already.
ok, so I did some digging on mine and it turns out that I can pair with a simple bluetooth headset via the '0000' key. But the phone attempts to go through the full key negotiation to connect the "bluetooth headphones." So i can get audio via the headset negotiated connection, but it sounds awful without full AD2P.
I am getting a ROM kitchen setup and will try and map the 1.5 bluez stack onto the 2.1 source and see where that gets me.
Thanks for the input.
Thanks for working on this! I've tried to incorporate some of the Bluetooth files as well as the WLAN.ko from other roms into my Rom but have been unsuccesful. I am running damage control 2.08 that I ported. I was originally unable to get WiFi or Bluetooth to work until I copied the WLAN.ko from the oc patch now both work minus the phone. Don't know if this helps but figured i let you know. If you have those files from a 1.5 Rom I will try them in my port and let you know what the results are.

I have a Jabra Crusier, and I'm having an issue with a lot of ROMs where I can not connect to it and stream music over bluetooth. I have found that Aloysius v6 Maps rom by Spencer Moore works well with the bluetooth thing. You may have to connect and disconnect a few times here and there to get it to connect, but it's been the best ROM for it. I used V11 Maps and it worked for a little while, but stopped connecting properly just recently.
There are a few known bugs with v6, but I'm fiddling with V11 to try and get the bluetooth to stay perm. Once I get it, I'll let Spencer Moore know and get him any new updates I come across.
Just an update. I am able to pair and connect to phone using white widow Rom.

Id like to know if anyone knows of an app that lets the nook receive audio from another device, and better yet, if you know if I can control that device through the nook. At minimum I'd like to be able to transmit BT audio to my nook because Ive installed my nook in my car. I'm looking to use pandora or google music from my phone and be able to switch songs on the phone using my nook. That's probably a far fetched app and very specific, but I'd like to know if anyone knows of anything that they use for other purposes that may suit this. Thanks!
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to put pandora or google music on your nook and tether your phone to it for the data connection only.

I have two Bluetooth issues with my View. I am currently running stock, but rooted Honeycomb, but had the same problems with stock, but rooted Gingerbread as well.
1. Tethering
The first is using Bluetooth for tethering. When I pair my Droid Pro to the View, and click on the wrench icon, then click connect to Internet, it says connecting and never connects. When I try this with the same phone on a Dell Streak 7 or a Motorola Xoom, I get online instantly.
2. Handsfree
I know there is a thread about editing build.prop, which I have done, but my Jabra Clipper only connects for tablet audio. I did get it to connect running the Gingerbread CleverNameRom. Is this build.prop edit only work on Gingerbread? I am not interested in making phone calls, but would like to use it for Skype.
Thanks in advance for assistance.
I am having the same issues with my motorola finiti.
Can anyone let us know if these two items are even possible to get working in Honeycomb?
Does anyone know if the tethering issue is a hardware limitation on the View?
Hello Everyone!
I just purchased a Galaxy S2 i9100 to replace my iPhone 4. I must say this is an impressive device, and I have used them all since 2001 (Blackberry pager and converged, Treos, WiMos, etc, etc). My latest phone, an iPhone 4, was purchased to integrate media with my Pioneer radio. However, I have bought a new Ford with the Sync system. The iPhone doesn't quite use all of the functionality that the Ford Sync has to offer (mainly text integration).
My i9100 came with Gingerbread 2.3.4. Texting worked perfectly with the car but not media playback through USB. I have flashed several ROMs in search of that "perfect" one that does everything (USB media playback WITHOUT turning off Bluetooth, Pandora via Bluetooth, text alerts) but can't seem to find it. The latest CM9 comes close but no Bluetooth MAP.
Does anyone know if any of the Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs (stock or mod) include USB mass storage and BT at the same time and the Bluetooth MAP Profile? Thanks in advance for any and all advice, help, thoughts!!
same thing here ...
On my SGS2 with GIngerbread, I used to get bluetooth with MAP, so I could easily pair my HP Touchpad with my SGS2, and send/receive all my sms from touchpad ...
Now after having loaded ICS 4.0.4 ROMs, I no more find any 'Advanced' setting under bluetooth options. :-(
hope someone can guide.
In order to use USB media and Pandora over Blutooth - you need to have Pandora installed on "local" storage. You lose SD card access to applications when it becomes a "USB HDD".. And yes, I'm thinking about going back to Gingerbread and CM7 on my Rezound, in order to get my functionality back I had with Sync. My Thunderbolt connected very nicely, and would send song titles over blutooth?? POUT This is a few steps backward, not forward..
I have the GSIII and loaded the Sprint release of JB, the MAP profile is enabled but I noticed one potential gotcha. When you initially pair a prompt comes up on the phone asking if you want to enable MAP, also there is a checkbox to say never ask again. If I do not check it but click enable, then MAP works for that session only. Next time I connect, I get no prompt and no ability to see my text messages. You need to reset and re-pair.
Can someone who has the S3 and a Ford test it out with Ford Sync? How well does it work? Do text messages work (from what I read, certain android phones support certain bluetooth profiles)?
Much appreciated
I think I remember reading a post from someone who had a Galaxy Note that said their text messaging worked or it on the Ford SYNC product. I am assuming it I'll work with the S3 also.
I ordered the intl. version from Newegg and it says it ships on 6/6. I will let you know when I receive it if it works with the Ford Sync (hopefully a few days after the 6th).
That would be awesome if you could let me know! I ask because the Galaxy S didn't work with it (for Text Messages).
Ok.. Got the Intl. S3 and here's what I have found:
I have the F-150 with the Ford Sync Gen1 system, so no MyFord Touch screen.
Text messaging works fine, phone book works fine, bluetooth streaming audio works great; better in fact than the USB media playing (see below).
The USB music part is really frustrating -- make sure you put the music on the Internal SD card. My Ford Sync wouldn't see the music on the external SD card for some reason..
Even with the music on the internal SD card, I had to do a master reset on the Ford Sync system to get it to re-index..
I remember having a lot of problems when I had the Galaxy Nexus, as it too used MTP for the media transfer and not regular USB folder access like the HTC/Motorola phones..
Dunno if it helps but I have a 2006 Ford Mondeo ST and my S3 paired with the factory fit Sony headunit no problem.

Thank you SO much for testing it out! I really appreciate it!

personally i use a sony LCD with hdmi output/input works better for me. even touch works
I have att, s3 (latest update), 2010 ford flex w/nav (latest update) everything works except texting
