Hi all apologies if I'm doing this wrong by making a new thread for each question...
Basically, I use Chrome on my XTZ, generally lovely however I know it doesn't support flash..
I installed flash player and have tried some other browsers namely Dolphin and Firefox, but when I load a flash based video - it's simply not watchable and the web page completely slows to a crawl...
I actually had this issue with these browsers on my HTC One, but thankfully the stock browser on that runs flash flawlessly and is generally snappy.
Anything that uses flash properly I can use on my XTZ??
Thanks
Give Maxthon a try.

John Francis

Are you using the latest version of both Dolphin Browser (10.0.0) and Adobe Flash Player (11.1.115.69)? That is my situation and I am not experiencing the problems you are describing.

Thanks mate, your right works like a charm. If I can ask though - when watching some flash based video, some sites have a missing full screen icon...
gametrailers.com is one such website - any other way to force fullscreen without just using finger zoom?
Thanks

I'm constantly switching between stock and opera atm...I like stock for quick controls so I have a full page of viewing and for flash but it seems like it stops responding frequently and then you click wait and then the browser is immediately responsive, I love opera for its fluidity and the start page but no flash is killing me
Sent from my rooted TF201
Opera mobile is by far faster and smoother IMO.... major issue is that imbedded youtube vids will still not play in opera mobile. Quite the annoyance. Without that it would be perfect.
Opera mobile still the best n fastest. crazy thong is we just got a flash update the other day which is to support ICS and flash still doesn't work right on opera. Opera mobile on my Atrix plays flash the best out of the other browsers I have on there.
Why does it seem that Opera mobile is the only one wth flash not working? I know one thing, Opera way overdue for an update as they haven't had one since November..lmao

Not me...pinch to zoom, scrolling and load times are faster on both stock and dolphin for me. Opera doesn't seem to use hw acceleration yet....unless I am using the wrong version?

If this is the case then Primes are the most inconsistent device I have ever seen..... My stock browser will pause for a full second sometimes before I can start scrolling whereas Opera seems to load almost instant and I can start scrolling right away.
Opera mobile is better but lacks flash. Also using the google search from the top bar always defaults to mobile, which I really hate, so I don't use it
Also thought I would share, for me flash works in opera but its wonky in order to see what your watching you have to click on it once to activate it, then click it again so it starts playing then you must be magical and click the expand to full screen button without seeing it and it will work just fine. I keep seeing ppl saying flash doesn't work, it does but not correctly they need to update soon tho

Anything that lacks flash sux by default. Not being able to watch special movies on my tablet gets a no go from me
For me, the stock browser was so much worse than Dolphin HD that I couldn't stand it for a second. For me Dolphin and Opera performed the same, and I dumped Opera.
ye opera is smoother then the stock browser of ICS... the stock browser will get stuck at loading pages for a few sec.
But the stock browser has more options then opera. Hope they will update the browser in the next OTA.
Q. Does opera support flash player like (own3d.tv) cause its not working for me... while the stock browser plays without prob.

You can easily change the default search engine from the ugly mobile Google site to the full one: Just go to the google.com desktop site, long click on the search box and select "add search engine" (amazing feature of Opera btw as it works with pretty much every other search box on any website as well). Then you have to hit Opera's search box at the top and hit the small google icon in the left and you can choose which search engine you want to use, including the just added full Google search.
On Honeycomb I use the stock browser 90% of the time which is smoother, has the quick controls and also the better rendering. But I'm really curious how both the stock browser and Opera Mobile will change when ICS finally hit my TF101, but I think I will still use the stock one more which should be improved again.

Thanks for this tip. It works to a certain extent, but it seems like it's impossible to set the new Google search option to be the default. Any workaround for this?

Let us know how you like Boat Browser. I initially used Boat Browser Mini on my Evo 3D and was blown away by how smooth it is. I love the simple UI. I'm kind of surprised that it isn't more popular by now.
hello everyone,
after looking for days I found Opera browser that works really smooth and has scroll to top and bottom buttons. But it's having problems with running flash content. the flash section of the page goes black. the videos play sound and see nothing does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Also Flash video is jerky in the official browser that came with honeycomb on htc view 4g does anyone have a fix for this?
thanks

Same problem here....
Sometimes if you double-tap the video (the black bit) it will go full screen and start working.
If you check the Opera website, the specifically say their browser does not fully support flash in HC and newer android versions at the moment (works great in 2.2, 2.3). I really like the speed and fluidness of Opera myself. I hope they get this resolved soon.
I experience all the same problems with opera. also the honeycomb bar button with the 4 lines doesn't pull up any options like it does in other apps. wondered if that was a bug.
The options are found in settings by pressing he big O on the left side.

thanks for that info tried to look on their website before posting didn't find anything. but what you're saying makes sense. hope they update it.soon. personally I think opera is the best browser for android.
I use Opera, too. If you click and hold the video it will usually play full screen in another window.
That said, I do hope that the Opera team get inline videos working again, as it's nice to have the desktop browser experience reproduced 100%.
SOLUTION!!!
I INSTALLED Flash 10.2 and flash is working fine on Opera now. opens flash content in streaming media player.
other browsers flash playback jerky any solutions? all versions 10.2 and latest.

Yep, Fixed my issues with flash as well on the HTC View and my Galaxy Nexus. Unfortunately, it did not fix it my Asus Prime. Matter of fact, completely removed the flash option on the ICS and prime.

Hey guys
I was just wondering if there is a browser identical to Chrome, except with flash support? It annoys the hell out of me...I like Chrome as a browser and love how there's no lag with it like the stock browser, but the lack of integrated flash support is killing me.
Any other browsers that are very similar? I've tried Dolphin, FF, Opera...didn't like them. None of them are as fast as Chrome...
Thanks,
Elliott
I use Dolphin HD and find it really good.
For me it's the best on the market, I find it fast as well, it loads the pages on desktop view at same speed as a pc.
I dont think it is slow, but then it's personal.
The new version of Firefox is supposed to be quicker than Chrome and it has flash support
Yeah...I just dled it...but no private browsing tabs?

Not sure if this is old news or not...
1) Download & Install 'archived flash' from adobe site flash for android 4.x @ http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.27/install_flash_player_ics.apk
(if not there search google for 'adobe archived flash player')
* Make sure you go into settings and put a checked box by unknown sources or it won't let you install it since the apk you just download is not from the google play. Afterward, you can go back and uncheck it for better security.
2) Install Dolphin for Pad v1.0 @ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dolphin.browser.pad&hl=en
* After installation, go through the wizard and change the agent to Desktop (or change it later in Dolphin's Agent in settings)

I have flash on my dolphin browser, I installed same version of flash as you linked to and deleted some setting within the data folder of dolphin browser (I don't remember exactly where on XDA I found the post).
How does the dolphin for pad work compared to the normal dolphin browser? Is it betteR?

Not really. Dolphin for Pad hasn't been updated in months and user reviews reflect the lack of interest from the developer.

yes, it is better for me.
Latest regular dolphin has feature disable that will not work with flash.
You have to restore old dolphin version to get it working with flash. When I did that, it was superslow and stuttering almost unusable for me that I can't even watch some streaming sports channel on it so I gave up and tried others...and found this work smoother and faster for me despite others low review. As long as it works for my Nexus 10, I didn't care about the reviews. I don't need all the features other negative reviewers were asking.

I don't have this phone, still on the Note II, but you can try downloading it directly from Adobe (Flash Player Archives. Scroll down to the Android. Make sure you get the one for Android 4. I think it'll probably work.
Don't forget to use a flash player friendly browser such a Boat, Dolphin, or the crappy generic one (non Chrome) that Samsung throws in.

Yea, flashplayer for android was discontinued at 11.1 so we're stuck with what we've got. I concur with this recommendation for Dolphin browser and enable flash always on in the settings. Either way, don't expect it to work perfectly. For example, I can't get Amazon Prime videos to play no matter what flashplayer.apk I try or browser I use. It just doesn't work. I'd have to spoof my device identity somehow.

It's a bit of crap shoot on what sites will work and won't. What I find best, go into your browser settings, change how browser to act as desktop browser. You may need to change to something like IE, Firefox or so forth from Android (this defaults to mobile sites).
I don't recommond Flash always on. I suggest On-Demand if available. Some sites are very flash heavy and this will help load times and data usage. Plus, given how things can be, Flash isn't always stable on the mobile, so it helps with those.
I've run into odd issues such as Kompster. It overall fine for Sirius NFL through the webbrowser. It will work for Motogp video, but on the my tablet, but to mirror on a TV, I need to half screen first, then plug in the HDMI cable, otherwise it won't show the race and Flash Player crashes. NFL Game Pass service works for games, but the archived shows start and crap out after about thirty seconds. I find overall for sites that use it for navigation or downloading, it works fine.
As for browsers, I suggest Boat browser. I found if Dolphin is working, it works well with Flash Player. I couldn't get Dolphin to load on the Note 2. Also, there is some evidence that Dolphin stores browsing history; supposedly it to make web browsing faster. I also think Boat has a smaller footprint. Boat also has a tablet version that I've been able to able to download and load on the Note 2. Nice looking. It's in beta. I found that not everything works in that version as does the normal Boat browser.
