Upgrading from cm7 to cm 10 questions on the x10 mini - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hey guys! I've had a look around but couldn't find the answers I was looking for. So at the moment I have got CM7, on my phone and the Supported NAa Kernel for it too. I was wondering if I can put CM10 on my SD card and install it. If not, will I have to wipe the whole device back to factory settings, re root the phone and flash my phone with a newer kernel version? Also I wanted to know how the battery life and performance is with CM10 too.
Thanks for your help!

Looking to buy x10

Im thinking of buying my brother a X10 but i have a few questions to ask first. I currently have a HTC desire so i prefer android phones now.
1. I see that its possible to root the phone but there does not seem to be much ROMS available. Is there any reason for this?
2. The main reason i wanted to root and change ROM was to install A2SD but the X10 has much higher internal memory at 1GB. But can i still install A2SD+?
3. I see that there are vanilla 2.2 Roms but they have a few bugs. So is there a vanilla 2.1 Rom that is stable and everything works?
Thanks
1. The bootloader aint cracked yet, so the dev's are restricted with what they can cook..
2. Yes.. I believe you can, although I haven't bothered.. not needed it myself.
3. stock SE 2.1 with tweaks (JIT, junk removed, other minor changes) runs really well..
You should buy x10 immediatly.
Nice ROMs, stability, good devs etc.

Thanks, very informative reply.
In regards to the internal memory, how much space does the phone have for apps? The desire only has 150mb so that's why you need to a2sd.
The stock SE 2.1 Rom with all the junk removed sounds exactly what I'm looking for, have you got a link to it?
Finally, is it correct you there are 2.2 Roms but only the camcorder is not working? Or have they got other issues too?
Thanks
the best 2.1 rom is this, it's the one i have now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913610
really fast and stable, everything works 100%, you get over 400mb of internal storage with this rom.
the 2.2 roms mostly everything works but camcorder and a couple small things. but i'm still on 2.1, it works great, i won't switch until they've got a 2.2 rom with fully working camcorder.
hope this helped!
if u want free flashing,
i would recommend google phones or the galaxy S from samsung
x10 has the bootloader locked + encrypted so it's hard for the devs here to cook roms without bugs.

[Q] [HELP] Which ROM should I use?

Hi All,
I purchased an X10 Mini Pro yesterday and I rooted last night.
I am now looking for the most stable ROM to put on my phone, I just don't know which one has had more development put into it.
Is it possible to use 'X10 Mini' ROMs on the X10 Mini Pro?
Appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction into which ROM I should put on my phone in terms of stability and functionality. Many thanks!
You can not use the rom from the mini for the mini pro...
the only advice is try them. backup your present rom first and then flash one of the few. try it for a couple of days and flash another.
you will find the rom that suits you most this way.
I'm using the Floyo rom and happy with it.
as all roms they are still under developement. things are not working random reboots may occur.
as said in other forums. there is no best rom. all roms are made to personal taste of the developer and that might you like more or less depending the rom. just try the roms available as said before. this is the only way.
read the threads about the roms they will give you all the info you will need.
@wilcovh
Okay thanks for getting back to me m8...
the most stabile and functional rom is the stock rom at this moment.
sorry guys, but you know it's like that. custom roms still need some bugfixes, but the progress is very promising.
hi,
you want a good and stable custom room?
well the best for now is the Foyo rom. it is almost bug free...(only 2 or 3 bug know bugs) and it have some themes options....
see the topic here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961783
Floyo v3.4 reboots often, but I couldn't find any other bugs. If you can (I can) tolerate these reboots, I think this is the best choice.
Temes
i cant boot to xrecovery after installed v3.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951274
and instal xRecovery.
But xRecovery should be working after installed v3.4
Maybe you did something wrong.
There's no random reboot on mine using CM6 3.4, try to reflash your phone and then install 3.4, I didn't see any bugs imho. Instead complaining about the bugs for each rom, try to help the dev by supporting they work and help them find a solution.
Try 3.4 for daily basis it's quite stable. CM7 V5 is still a little bit buggy in some vital section.

[Q] Looking for a user-friendly ROM installation guide CWM

Hello everyone, I´m new on the android word and just got myself an x10 mini, and would like to install a ROM. the real thing im after is the ability to save apps to SD, I tried installing App2sd, using a tutorial in these forums, but it completely broke android 3 times, getting stuck on an endless reboot cycle.
Now that that option is out of the window I am looking at ROMS.
My phone is flashed with an international firmware, with band M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015, Android 2.1. What would be the best ROM (given persona experience) fully working, of course?
Thank you,
DamDSx
hi im pretty new too, but found it quite easy, i installled 2.3.3, i havent got time right now to post the links il get back 2 you if you havnt sorted it, but you can get all links and software from this site, the easiest way i found was using superoneclick to root, just one click! then youl need xrecovery to backup (just incase) &restore then browse for the rom you want to use, if you have a look you'll find all these on here with n00bie instructions 4 us beginners, hope this helps some what.
Im going with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200675
Currently backing up with Xrecovery, but im not sure if I need to wipe user data and cache? the rom guide does not say anything

welcome 2 android
ROM's are of personal taste and as the camera problem of gingerbread is fixed,most of the ROM's are fully working.....as u r new to android, i would suggest you to go for MiniCM7 2.0.5 as the MiniCM is perfectly "tailored" for the mini's small screen estate...however, other ROM's like GingerDX, FroyoBread, MiniCM6, Andread etc are very stable alternatives too ..i am using "FRoyoBread" latest version because i find the battery consumption to be less than the Gingerbread builds
if you are after the ability of moving the apps to SD, most ROM's would suffice. But, i'll give u a caution, don't move apps with "Widget" support or "operational" apps to the SD card...many a time u will get a "problem loading widget" popup or your SD card won't show up on the computer.
try some ROM's until u find the one u would like the best...most of the ROM's are great because OUR DEVS ARE AWESOME
if i helped you, press the "THANKS" button

yes u NEED to format the user data and the cache for avoiding startup bootloops
Search before you ask
try this TUT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194499
Thank you. Android is awesome!
I´m trying GingerDX, the only problem I have found is the keyboard. it was too big for the screen (Unmodified X8 port) but ThickButtons from the market fixed it. Loving Gingerbread so far. On a side note, my new phone, and thus Android, has put some stress between me and my wife, because ive been spending more time with the phone than with her! lol!
Indeed the devs are awesome. THANK YOU!!!!!

[Q] Need help to choose GB ROM to my x10a [SOLVED]

Hi guys,
(sorry if my words aren't clear, please tell me if any of what I say isn't undestandabble)
Yesterday I installed FeraLabs ICS v2.2 ROM in my x10a. Great ROM, I fell in love with android 4 and cyanogemod, it was my first contact with both. But I had some problems using it, some apps not working, others freezing the entire system, can't send SMS etc. I know that probably most of these bugs already have fixes, the ROM is being developed etc, but I decided that it's not for me yet, this is my main phone and I need it rock solid for day to day use.
So I decided to try some GB rom. But there are a lot of ROMs out there, and I couldn't find a thread answering what's the best for my case, so I'm gonna ask fro suggestions. =D
Here's what I need:
- A stable ROM, fully compatible with my x10a;
- Based on cyanogemod;
- If possible, faster than stock 2.3 ROM;
- If possible, less power-consuming than stock 2.3 ROM, but it's the least important feature (got a 3500mAh battery);
- I personnally don't like the Sony UI improvemments and general bloatwares. I like google default apps and UI. Also used a LG p500 for a year, liked a lot the LG punctual customizations;
- It can have bugs about video recording, I don't use it much;
- It can't have bugs with 3g, wifi, calling and texting (hehehe);
So, what flavors should I try?
Thank you all. ;D
Donut HD 2.2 it's faster than stock and cm and works perfect with good battery life 2

Hi,
Thanks for helping.
Looking at the instructions in the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30999560&postcount=1167). Will it run OK with the feralabs kernel that is currently is installed in my system? Shouldn't I change hte kernel?
If yes, what kernel should I flash?
Hi guys,
I flashed doomkernel, booted to xRecovery, installed the doomkernel wifi module from zip, booted again to xRecovery, installed the donuthd, booted again, installed donuthd, booted to xRecovery and installed donuthd update.
It's really fast, I've never used and android this fast. I'm currently installing my apps, wanna see if it will keep great at night. =D
But I've seen a problem:
My sms messages aren't being delivered, just like happened with Feralabs ICS 2.2 rom. Anyone got this problem? Does this have some relation with my phone being a x10a (and now it's appearing in in my system settings as x10i) ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi again,
Today I cleaned up my phone and tried to install donutHD + doomkernel again. Everything worked ok, except sending and receiving SMS messages. So I flashed back 2.1 stock firmware and 2.3 (GB) stock firmware, and SMS sending/receiving worked fine again, in both versions.
Does anybody has any clue about what can be happening? When I installed donutHD (about 3 times), I was in 2.1 stock firmware, root/busybox/xrecovery from Flashtool (newest version). The same problem ocurred with the Feralabs ICS v2.2 ROM with feralabs kernel for ICS.
I also tried to flash the 2.3th kernel n5-1 (comming from 2.1 stock firmware), but it got frozen in SE screen, during boot. Even xrecovery couldn't open. =/
=========================== edited:
Problem solved: As observed I was upgrading from 2.1 stock ROM to DonutHD. Doing this upgrade coming from android 2.3 stock ROM, the SMS sending/receiving works like a charm. =D

[Q] Couple of ROM questions

Just as a quick intro, I'm not a total noob, but I'm no expert either. I had an OG Droid that I rooted and had installed several ROMS before upgrading to a Droid Razr. I decided to root this one also and I'm running CM 10.1.3 with JellyBean X kernel, all installed with Safestrap.
I had some issues with my baseband not working properly with CM, so I decided to try to install a clean version of Jelly Bean to see if that helped the problem. The ROM I was going to download required me to install BMM 3.0.4 which I did. Once that was done, I rebooted and lo and behold the phone booted into the original Verizon version of Jelly Bean. At this point I have not installed anything but BMM. Why did this happen? I thought I had done a wipe when I installed CM. Is this because I installed CM into a second slot and now BMM is booting to the original slot? As far as I know, CM is still on the phone somewhere. How can I get back to it? Is it going to be a problem as far as phone performance to have both of them on the system at the same time?
Finally, like everyone else, my goal is to get the best performance out of this phone. I would like to avoid the stock ROM due to all the bloatware. Is the clean JB a good option? Will this fix the baseband problem (poor to no service)? Is there a baseband fix I can use in conjunction with CM?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
Not sure if you are just looking @ AOSP ROMs, but I've done well with the bionx ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45291834:
Its stock based, haven't had any issues and its different with some Xperia launcher and whatnot. Has a lot of options/tweaks in dashboard app as well..
