Phone unable to power up - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently flash my Samsung Galaxy S3 to MIUI ROM (miui_i9300_3.6.21_92f38a8c3a_4.1), it is able to flash successfully. However, when in the middle of setting up the phone, the phone hang and auto power off by itself. I unable to power up after that.
I think my phone previous is the stock ROM ICS if not wrong.
I can't even go into download mode by pressing and holding Home, Vol down and Power button. I have also try remove battery and put it back and still can't go to download mode.
Anyone have any solution to recover my phone?
Btw, my phone already over the warranty period, so really appreciate if anyone can help me on this. Thanks!

[Q] Get backup after the phone has been rooted?

Hi, I think im gonna root my phone. And if i root it and then install custom ROMS and themes. If my phone has a problem and i need to give it back to the store, could i restore it to normal(not rooted) and then give it back to the store?
and if i can, How can i do this?
Yes, before giving it you have to put the Stock firmware back and use an USB Jig (Ebay) to reset the ROM counter. They won't understand if your phone was being rooted or installed with a Custom firmware or any Mods.
Regards.
You can, as long as they don't check the binary flash counter. Your phone counts the times you flashed custom roms. Recovering a backup does not reset this counter.
You need a USB Jig to reset this counter. A home-made usb device you stick into your phone's usb port. I'll make one when I need it, my phone doesn't look like it's about to stop working.
I have one USB at home, but what should i do with it?
What is the stock firmware? and how do you reset the ROM counter with it?
To reset turn phone off .
Connect USB jig phone boots to download mode counter now zero .
Remove jig and reboot .
Stock firmware is the Samsung firmware released to the phone providers for customization,
DEV section Stock Firmware and Branded rom posts .

so if i get a problem with my rootet phone, this is what i do:
1. turn of my phone
2. plug in my empty usb that i have at home
3. then wait
4. then done
is that it?

No
USB jig has two uses ONE to put a phone into download mode where the phone itself will not go to download mode via the Vol Down + Home + PWR keys .
Plus it will reset the binary rom counter to zero .
It has nothing to do with root and will not fix any problems bar the two above .
Dont really know if you understand what has been posted .
One a USB RECOVERY JIG is not an empty usb .

i dont have a JIG , so its not good that i root my phone, right?
Nah nah, you won't root cause you don't have a Jig is meaningless. You just need the Jig to Rest the ROM counter, and that you will do if you need to service your phone. Otherwise it's NO problem.

[Q] Download Mode, But Volume Button is not responding

Hi guys,
I have rooted my gf's phone 2 months back using litening rom to gain root and CWM and subsequently flash it with CheckROM 4.
Phone is good for about a month or so until one fine day, when she restarts her phone, the phone goes into download mode.
Now, in the download mode, the button is not responding at all. either vol up or down. No respond. So i tried to go into recovery but the phone one, instead, that combination restarts the phone.
Now the phone cant get into recovery mode at all, by all means, tried CWM manager, tried Vol up + Power + home button
And when i go into download mode, the vol button gave me no respond, the vol button works perfectly during normal phone state.
Jigged it and vol button wont respond too. Tried factory reset the phone but all it did is reset the time and date.
Anybody can give me some pointer and or experiencing the same problem? My gf is upset, and if i cant solve it, i have to buy a new phone to her

I9300 phone and flashed I9300 firmware .
No recovery then download mode and flash stock firmware .
No download mode USB Jig to try for download mode .
That fails its a JTag repair .
jje
Yes yes ^^^^in that order
Can you see the welcome screen or anything else? Or it's completely dead?
Pull the battery, wait for a few minutes, if you have a jig insert it in usb port of yor phone ( if you don`t volume down + menu + power buttons all at once). If you come in downloadmode flash a stock rom and after boot you can reroot.
If you don`t have a jig, order one from somewhere. You can not do without it.

my s3 being restarted even in download mode

my s3 being restarted even in download mode and not let me use odin....
because the time remaining in download mode is like 8 seconds
any ideas?
Very difficult to help you because you haven't given any useful information.
My best guess is your battery is dead or your power button is faulty.

HELP! Deleted OS by accident and cant access Recovery Mode TWRP and now bootloop

Hello there, I own a galaxy s3 for quite a while and I remember I rooted the device and flashed the Revolutionary S5 ROM via odin long time ago (I did all this with the help of several youtube videos because I am an ignorant in this matter).
But well the problem started when I was going to make a factory reset to the phone because I lent it to a friend and when I got it back I just wanted to clean it and wipe all the info. I entered to recovery mode (twrp) and by accident I wiped all the phone had including te OS. I noticed it because when I was going to power off the phone in recovery mode it told me that there was no OS.
So now the phone is in a bootloop, because when I try to turn it on I only see the samsung galaxy logo and thats it, the same when I plug the phone to the power it only shows the battery screen.
I also have the problem with the volume up key that doesnt work so I cant access the recovery mode. Only the download mode using the volume down+home+lock button combination but still i cant do anything because of the volume up buttom that doesnt work.
If someone can help me with this problem I would really appreciatte it. Explaining me like a 5 yo.
Do you have access to a USB jig that will force the phone into download mode?

No I dont, I can enter download mode by pressing the volume down + home+ lock button. But after that I cant do anything else because in download mode it tells me to press volume up to continue and volumen down to cancel. And unfortunately my volume up button doesnt work.
Any ideas?
The jig will put the phone into download mode, no buttons required.
To use the jig, remove battery, insert jig, insert battery.

Thanks, I will try to find a usb jig and do that.
Any other way I can get into download mode without the jig?
I don't know of any other way to get into download mode.
The jig works with many models of Samsung phones.
Op states he can access download mode but not recovery. Flash the latest stock firmware twice via odin and factory reset in between flashes. Make sure the firmware matches your phone region etc and must android 4.3.

Sorry to bother you but can you tell in depth how to do that without using the volume up key, because I cant fully access the download mode. I just get stuck in the screen that says press volume up to continue or volume down to cancel.
Solved.
Maybe its not the best way to fix it but I inserted a little blade into the volume buttons and took the button out, I clean it a little bit and inserted it so that the volume up key could function (not fully). So that way I accessed recovery mode and flashed the rom I had using an extsd card where I previously copied the zip of the rom. Now I will flash the stock rom twice and who know from there.
Thanks all for your answers

Ah, ok then that isn't download mode at all.
Looks like you'd be best sending it to a repair shop because at this point you need the buttons working. You could dismantle the phone and short the button pad with a small metallic object but if your skills don't range to that i would advise against it as it is very easy to damage the component when shorting it out manually.
