Hello All,
I dont know whether i am posting this in the right section.
Hope the moderators wont be harsh on me for posting this over here.
If i am in the wrong section, please guide me to the right one.
Ok, so lets begin.
I had few purchases made few days ago. Fortunately, The Nokia Lumia 820 fell into my basket.
Its been a month now I have been using it now.:cyclops:
It has a good specs which would run any OS as butter. Not Sure, but i guess.
Seriously speaking I have become bored using the Same UI again and again.
I was thinking about starting to build a Custom OS for my lumia.(Again, i am a noob. But can learn things faster.)
Or
May Be Port Android to Lumia 820. I know many may ask why did u buy a WP8 phone when you needed a Android Phone. Its not the issue
of Android. I got an Android Phone too.
What I am trying to say is,, I want to do something new. Something Creative. Something which People will appreciate.
Why am i doing this?
Want to learn something new.
I want to design my own Custom OS or a Modded OS.
I have seen many people below my age cooking android cfw's.
If they can why cant I?
If God gave them brains, I got Brains too. Just need to put to proper Use.
Can someone Guide me or link me to the right person who would help me??
Thank You.
(Please dont be harsh on me)
Hi,
Ask about the phone, before buy
If you have no knowledge in there, it is almost impossible for you.
Cheers,
Septvies
Thank you for your reply Septives .
With all due respect, I really dint get what you said.
I posted the above post thinking,
Lumia 820 has decent specs.
I mean it can run android smoothly(if ported)
It has quite good processing power and ample of RAM.
There may be some Android phones which may have the similar hardware Or similar Specs..
So Can we port Android keeping that in mind..??
For Example, if we consider the analogy of IPhone and Nokia N900
Both belong to different OS.. But Android were ported to these phones. Is it just because of the Brand it was ported? or because they had the capability to run them.
The Users of Lumia 820 would really appreciate if we get some things going on over here... And yes, There is a RainbowMOD for Lumia 710..
That means Lumia 820 would have the same structure of OS. We can break it down and Port a Different OS to get the taste and feel of Android.
Thanks in Advance.

That means absolutely nothing. Who the hell told you that WP7.5 (710) and WP8 (820) have the same OS structure? Do you know the difference between CE and NT?

If you can "break and port" - you are the first in the world who can do this.

First of all: this site seems to continue to attract new cool people, and I'm greatly enjoying the easy way we all seem to work together.
The whole site got 20-30% busier relative to a week ago. We're averaging well over 1000 visits a day now. These are probably mostly new people lured by the prospect of the Special Edition ROM and its ability to unlock without the serial cable.
Communities like ours feed on fresh blood and new ideas. So let's all try to be extra nice and tolerant these next few days and weeks. Some growing pains are probably inevitable, but think how some of these new folks are likely to bring interesting knowledge and experience. (Even if most of the others just bring newbie questions you've all seen a million times.)

A big thanks for the hard work on the site guys, a great resource. Starting to feel a bit more comfortable with my XDA now
Yeah! you guys did a great job! and most of all I like the fact that you are not trying to commercialize this. Respect...
i just joined up because this community reminds me of another kick-ass community that I also joineded: The Tivo Community. This forum has the same passions, feel and excitement. I love that I have found a place to hang out that is ACTIVE and chock full of great information.

LOL as much as I doubt they would.... if these very kind people did try to "commercialize this" they'd find a lawsuit in the post by HTC, O2, T-mobile and just about every telecoms company that supports the HTC-wallaby device...
Even if O2 cant support its own userbase...
Personally I think its a shame that the O2 official support had to be done as an april fools joke. By far this would have been the best move that the non computer literate O2 could have done.
Unfortunatly maybe it would mean this site becoming too busy and overwhelming the developers?
Ian.
"Yeah! you guys did a great job!" ...seconded
Hi guys,
Just wanted to leave a quick thank you for the work you're doing. I've been able to do some great things with my device due to this site and the great community that's developed here.
I live in Australia and the XDA is pretty expensive over here so I bought a T-Mobile unit from the US. You guys made it possible for me to get the thing unlocked and online as soon as it was in my hot little hands
Many thanks.
Great work guys,
i cant comment on excellence!
Keep it up and whatever you need from us as support we will do it.
Regards
Update...
Remember I posted the webstats halfway through June? It got even busier since:
To put that in perspective: look at the monthly totals:
I'm glad our community still functions as well as it does, given this insane growth.
You're all fantastic...
Exponential growth continues...
As you can see above, the site used to do 1 GB a day on really busy days in June. We did 2 and 1.8 GB on 1st and 2nd of July respectively. About 2/3 of that seems to be forum traffic, and we get 1600+ visits a day now.
i have been very curious lately wondering if there is going to be a rom coming out soon for the hd2 with the Iphone system on it?
I have tried various themes and roms that mimick the iphone system but none compare to the real system.

Erm...Before that, you have understand theme an operating system is totally different with running an operating system....and it is not easy as you think...
Developers need to re-write every code, obtain drivers and etc...it may take months or years...such as the android porting project...
Thanks, but do you know if there are any people out there that have started building a rom?
Port an OS is hard, re-code driver etc, Android was "easy" cause it's an open source, but iOS is not !
Also, there is only 4 iPhone with a totaly different chipset than HD2
It's not impossible but you will never see iOS running on HD2..
bugger was looking forward to it!?
This would be great! Then we could have a camouflaged version of an iPhone for everyone around NOT TO SEE! Which is what I want... An iPhone without anyone knowing....
you guys think that the miraculous

i doubt somebodys gonna spend a MASSIVE amount of time and effort to port a complete OS for people to "choose not to use it"......
I kinda see your point though
if you want an iphone go buy an iphone! why r so many ppl asking for different os. get a different phone.
I don't think the iphone 4 hardware is exactly chickenfeed...
IPhone 4 hardware is as fast as hd2... maybe faster cause of better gpu.

if you want IOS....better wait for upcoming WP7...its IOS done by MS

I searched "HTC Sense" in this forum and got 32 returns. Now I have to click on a bunch of threads like this one to see which one actually has the answer in it.

FYI, Touchwiz 4.0 is a lot better than HTC Sense 3.0. Don't believe me?
Here's your answer from an ex-HTC'ian:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/i4lf6/after_using_samsung_galaxy_s_ii_for_a_week_i/c20xl8y
Putting aside the petty squabbling over touchwiz being better.
And yes I am aware there are the Launcherpro widgets (which look too fake)
Is there no developer out there that can help us get this on the SGSII please?:

It's great to see some progress in porting sense to other devices it's a shame that it doesn't have the 3d effect when scrolling between home screens but still looking forward to some genius getting this working on our SGSII.
JC
Thats what I thought too mate - If it can work on a darn LG it should be able to work on the SGSII!.
I got so desperate I even tryed to install the LG APK on me SGSII - lol! - needless to say it didn't work and just borked it requiring a reflash lol
Theres loads of great custom ROM's for the SGSII - Just not any with this type of bling!
Please please devs - I'd be willing to pay for this theme
I'm all about checking out the Roms to see which one strikes me eye. Has there ever been a poll about which custom Rom(s) are the most popular? Most eye candy? Looks most Goth? I'm looking for some news I can use. I'm on the Deepshining v3.

Sure - most important feature....
Seriously - you had chosen the wrong OS buddy. Candies for your eyes are in Android and old WM 6.5 threads. There you can find them - worst optimized and fragmented rom is the most eye candy one - you can not make a mistake.
All WP roms are similar - but not all of them are from software developers. Some of them are from the users who managed to learn how to use OsBuilder. So - try by yourself and make a decision.

Windows Phone platform won't allow this in regards to the Metro Tiles; however, you may in regards to your wallpaper but I'm not aware the Metro UI can be themed other than change the color of the tiles. You have to remember there are only a few at best custom ROMs for the Titan.

hi.
im starting this thread in hope some of the devs that work with le max 2 can develop nougat.
due to the attacks from the ones that doesnt do nothing to help, @ffboy2009 doesnt seem to be sharing anymore work in xda. hope he can reconsider.
hope @STEVE_MARS, @ParasiTe_RemiX, @madsurfer1, @Bshuy2003, @Cuoco92 and others(sorry if i forget someone) can develop this for our phone, since @FFboys2009 provided the sources and some screens of a nougat rom working in our device.

I would really love to help but I am not a developer, however I am still having hopes that even thought ffboy has left other developers can build a really great rom, thank you in advance for your diligently work.
That OP. LMAO
"Attacks from those doing nothing to help". Priceless. If you only knew.
another waste thread linking source of banned users work...
oh, and the "due to the attacks from the ones that doesnt do nothing to help" is a nice add from someone who knows nothing about whats going out there in the real world... I needed a laugh, thanks for that..
If ffboy copys your work you havê the right to be upset. I Also think he should post is work here. Same goês for you. I think it would be better to everyine if the work was shared here. If you dont post your work here, like you said, why the fuc* do you come here to complain? Im no developer and im just saying i think it would be better if everyone shared here what they have. There are a few people here that mau be able to help if the work das posted here.
For example, ive spent hours today testing build from the dev @crept just to help people get nougat fast in this device.
Cheers

That is mine, yes. Its open sourced so people can do with it what they please. No, I won't post BrokenOs on this forum as there is an "understanding" between my team and the administration here.

I had zero reason to mention it in the beginning. I was just allowing everyone to assume they knew how the world worked and laughed at it all. There's far more to the world of android development than this forum and by this forum, I mean xda.
@CrackerTeg - can you share logcat for camera error? (If in your devtree it can't work)
