[Q] Annoying automatic play when bluetooth is connected - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Whenever I connect my phone to the bluetooth of my car, Poweramp player starts playing some random audio files that it can find on the phone. And typically would not shut up until I explicitly turn it off. The same was happening with my old phone (Droid Incredible) although not sure if it was the same application or some other player.
Is such a behaviour application-specific or is there some global way to prevent any programs from starting up automatically when bluetooth is connected?
At first glance I do not see that in Poweramp settings such a behaviour is configured or that there is a way to disallow it.

There is an option under Poweramp settings for "Resume on Headset Connect" and "Resume on BT A2DP Connect". Both under the headset menu in settings. Have you checked those to see if one might be causing it?

Both options are unchecked and if I read correctly they should be unchecked if I do not want automatic play.
I'll try to check them and see if it helps.

Google music does the same thing every time that I get in my car, it is very annoying...

That's why I think there should be some global solution not specific to any application.
Perhaps, one can somewhere choose which application fires up when bluetooth is connected?
At first glance I do not see such an option in bluetooth configuration...

does anyone have a solution on this yet?

Try this:
1) Download Greenify (free).
2) Add the app(s) that automatically start to Greenify.
3) Test.
Greenify puts apps into a "hibernate" mode that disallow it from running in the background until you manually click on them to open. This is meant to help your phone by saving battery that those apps would use, but I could see it being helpful in your situation as well.

Eventually I used a hammer: I have frozen the offending application in Titanium Backup and it no longer bothers me when the phone connects to bluetooth. Of course, the downside is that I cannot use this application at all now but it was so annoying...
Before that I tried to use llama to kill the application automatically when connecting to bluetooth but that worked only in about 20% of cases.

Just tried Greenify. The free version does not "greenify" system application like google music and apparently I was wrong that it was poweramp. I have not tried the paid version yet, not sure if it is worth buying. Back to the hammer solution for now.

I'm fairly sure the "donation" version is the same.
If you're willing to pay for a great app with many uses, then buy Titanium Backup and use their Freeze function to stop Google Music.

My CAR does this. There is a setting in the bluetooth menu of my car called "Auto Play." When turned on, the car will start playing music when I get in the car, when off, I have to manually turn on music.

The free version of Greenify claims that greenifying system applications is an experimental feature of the donation version. I have not tried the donation version though.

So far could not find such an option in my car (Honda Pilot 2013, Touring model).

I found this at pioloteers.org (Honda piolot forum):
"I have Samsung Galaxy and from what I read on the net it's a big annoyance for a lot of people. It isn't Pilot related, but is frustrating for a lot of folks nevertheless. The solution is to disable auto play on the phone as hollowpoints suggested. Unfortunately, not all android audio players have this setting. The one which I use – PowerAmp – does have it and I was able to disable it. After that Android stock player started auto-playing and you can't disable the auto play on it, so I had to uninstall it. Now the problem is solved."
I have a 2012 MB GL350 and the option is in the media interface settings.

How to get alarms/notifications in speaker if headphones plugged in.

Hello Fellas!
Recently i started to listen to music/audiobooks before i go to sleep,
the problem is that in android 4.2/4.1 even with clock apps that tries to force audio through speaker (at least on my phone) only plays the audio through the headphones which has fallen of during night.
So i though i should make an post instructing how i got the alarm to play through the speaker even with the headphones connected.
the answer is Soundabout combined with Tasker (you could probably use other automation tools as well)
1. download soundabout free from market.
2. set Media Audio to speaker.
3. force close soundabout.
4. Download Tasker (which is a paid app but is well worth the money) (or other automation tool)
4a. go to settings and untick beginner mode.
5. Download and place "userbackup.xml" in the "tasker" folder in the root of your sdcard
userbackup.xmll
6. Open tasker, press the menu button --> data --> restore.
This hack will open soundabout at 6am if the headphones are plugged in, if you are rooted it will also force kill soundabout when you unplug.
NOTE: if you have any profiles allready you should make a backup and add my profile at the bottom of your "userbackup.xml."
Hope this helps!
Best Regards
Thanks
No problem, the only problem is that you have to force close the app every single day though,
i emailed the developer of soundabout about this and he said he would try to make a tasker plugin to make this easier!
Hey guys.
Any update on this?
Thanks
Alan
I dont get it... Soundabout runs a service, so it should be able to force audio through speakers without the need to fc it and start it via Tasker
But the fact is that it does not work on my phone. I have a headset plugged at all times and I just miss all calls
It is said that music apps can prevent soundabout from routing audio through speakers.. i am still testing, will post if I come to a conclusion on what music app does not bring this issue
I ****ing hate those ****tards at google who thought they should change that... since the beginning of time, call and sms alerts always went to speaker regardless the headset is plugged

I guess you dont have to fc, but i atleast had to force everything to the speaker. So the easiest way to get the sound back to my earplugs was to force close it.
The updated version does it automaticly so im good for now
Will pay $ for tasker script.
Hi to all of You.
I would like to have profile that force incoming call ringing and notifications to speaker when wired headphones with mic is plugged but not media sounds like YouTube or games, media sounds should be played only by wired headphones with mic.
I am willing to pay some reasonable amount of $ for person, who will write such tasker script for me.

Audio through external speaker with headphones plugged in - Tasker
Any better solution found for this yet? I would like to get tasker to still play audio through the external speaker when the headphone jack is plugged in. I would prefer not to use another app for this, just a tasker profile.
I just received a pressy like headphone button but it mutes the external audio since the phone thinks headphones are plugged in. The apps available for the Klick buttom don't seem too trust worthy or functional. I still want to use it to keep the dust out of the jack but not miss all the audio calls and notifications. A simple tasker profile to accomplish this would be great.
Any ideas?

also with Xprivacy you can change and give permission to prevent soundabout from changing speaker after, or there are many other permissions it's asking for.
Couldn't dig deeper, but may give an idea to someone.
I had a similar issue, except in my case I use a wired handset with my phone and I wanted notifactions to sound through the phone speaker rather than through the handset. My solution was to use the Automate app with the configuration attached. Plugging the handset mutes the notification, then on SMS received it plays a sound, with the output stream set as "ring" so it sounds through the phone speaker.
As far as I'm aware, it's not possible to play audio through two streams simultaneously- don't cross the streams...
I'm using a Sony Z3 with LineageOS, but I guess this should work with any android compatible with the current version of Automate.

[Q] Audio Skips with Greenify

I'm using Poweramp for music and when the screen is locked, after 3-5 mins., audio skips (using in ear headpones). After uninstalling Greenify, the problem is gone. But I want the main feature of Greenify to be used (which is Hibernation)( . What could be the problem and solution for this? Or is there an alternative app that can be used? Thanks.

The problem is that you have greenified Poweramp. If Deep Hibernation is enabled, disable it and check. If not, degreenify Poweramp.
^
Nope, I'm not greenifying it. (Did not add that on the first post, my mistake)
Same thing happens to me with Apollo on CM11 although it's not greenified and it does not skip it stops completely!
Stami
It's something related in Android OS, Poweramp and your sdcard behaviour, not because Greenify even you have enabled Deep Hibernation (maybe, since it's never happen to me)
I'm using Greenify + Deep Hibernation and Poweramp it's in my hibernate list.
Since I can't find any bug/problem in Android, Poweramp and Greenify, the only solution is in Poweramp itself.
Please try this, and report the result:
1. Open Poweramp
2. Go to Settings> Audio> Advanced Tweaks> Audio Buffer Size> Set to +750ms
3. After that, go to Audio Thread Priority> set to Highest
NB: for another Audio issue, how much you set your sdcard cache size ? Sometimes, more than 128 can made a audio hiccup too

[Q] Bluetooth Audio-Play on Connect

Whats up everyone... I've had this phone for a few months now and can say it's easily the best I've ever had.
The only "issue" to speak of that I've found is when my phone connects to my car bluetooth, it doesn't always automatically play. I've tried clearing/resetting pairing, all sorts of different music players (power amp, google play, android basic, etc), even tried to utilize the Smart Connect native app in the phone to start the music player app when connected. I have all available options checked related to automatically playing music on bluetooth connect.
Bottom line, the problem is intermittent, frustrating, and I can't seem to figure it out. Is anyone else out there have a similar issue or have any tips related to this?

What stereo system do you have in your car? I have the Pioneer AVH-X4500BT in my car and each time I start my car up, it searches to auto connect to my phone. Once it does and I have it on Bluetooth Audio mode, it plays whatever song I just had played on my phone.

Also have a Pioneer head unit BT6400 I believe. Have used it with my past 3 phones... motorola and HTC without issue. The behavior you've described is the way all have worked in the past. Now, for whatever reason, sometimes it does not auto play.

Were there any changes you've applied to your phone? Safe bet is to clear out the BT connection in memory and connect as if new. Also try to limit to just one music player on the phone. Because I think it would automatically run off of Walkman, but other players can interfere.

Disable stock music player or stop its auto lauch on BT?

Hi all. Love the 10 Pro!!!
Not so good is that I can't remove or disable the stock music player (music).
I use Pulsar but when I connect my Sony wh-1000xm2 through BT it automatically launches the horrible huawei music app and starts playing.
Any ideas how to get around that?

Tried it, it still starts sometimes PLUS I just noticed that storage permission was back on. How strange is that, EMUI overwrites user settings?

Unfortunately, even though storage permission is OFF, the app still launches and plays when the phone connects to BT in the car.
Any other ideas, anybody?

Try this one...
In settings, go to battery, tap on Launch, scroll down to Music and disable , you'll get a popup with three options, disable all three.

I know it's not really resolution, but try changing default app for Music. Just search "Default app settings" in settings.
OP here.
I may have solved this.
In settings-apps I disabled all music permissions and then deleted cache and all data. Then I set Pulsar to my default music app.
Now Music no longer shows in battery-launch anymore so I guess it is effectively disabled.
Fot me this is OK now.
In combination with this problem, I can't even set spotify or Amazon music player as default, it's not even on the list, any ideas?
Thanks bro. Nailed it to the heart. Works for honor 9 lite.
:good:

Just got myself a P20, I too am experiencing this same issue, followed all the steps above and when connecting to BTU in car still launches default player even though I have set PI Music to default. Is there not a way to remove the default app permanently using "Tool all in one software " ?

Bluetooth media problem : please help

Hi guys,
I have a bluetooth related issue : when I connect to BT (my car BT system for example) the Huawei "Music" automatically starts and plays some crappy music.
This plays over Waze etc. and is extremely annoying.
I have tried to disable "Music" but no matter what I do EMUI overwrites my settings and grants access to "folders" etc.
I have done pretty much everything and "Music" automatically start once I am connected to BT and I try to use it for navigation etc.
Is there a way to perm disable Huaweis stupid "Music" app? I tried to set "Google Music" to default, but no luck : "Music" still starts and plays some strange tune I can not even find on the phone. (a tune thats title starts with something "Dream...."
Please help, I am going nuts ! Thanks.
Did you find a solution for this?

If you want to stop playing music, you need to clean up the music APP on the phone side. If you want to play music with other music apps, you need to clear Huawei Music App (whether it is playing or not) on the mobile phone side and open other apps to play.
