HTC view 4g - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I have hdboot 1.14.0005. I'm pretty nooby, and tried rooting despite the warnings enumerated, managed to 'soft brick??' where it was in a weird power cycle and just misbehaving in general. I was lucky enough to fix it by some devs program. I used the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414137 and got back to gingerbread. I am now trying to roll back or forward to an hdboot that will allow me to install the best android this thing can support, if that's even possible. So if anyone can point me in the proper direction I would be very thankful.

as of now I have tried mutlitool to no avail. Not to say it doesn't work, but I did not have any success with it. I am actually redownloading it as we speak in hopes of trying it again, but even with the videos I managed to mess it up. There are no other alternatives to getting my hboot downgraded? Because as I understand I need to get it to 1.11 or below so revolutionary will work. And thus far I haven't had much luck with that.

just tried multitool again to downgrade hboot

No luck though, screen had different vertical bars running across it, after it failed to change the hboot, i will try once more, but I still wonder if there is a better or alternate way because this way does not seem to be very fruitful.

update
I have it s-off. My new trouble now is, apparently my SD card is corrupted so I'm trying to find a solution to repair it. I may buy one because I will need one, but i'm hoping to repair it, so I can push superuser and then find a cool rom. Which btw, does anyone have any suggestions of which would be best roms to use for me? I'd like one that has most recent android available. Thanks for any responses!

Now I have a new SD assuming that would be the solution to fixing this, when I use multitool to install super user a phone with a red caution exclaimation point pops up, any idea what that's telling me, or what I can do?

New to rooting - Need help

I've been trying to root my HTC Hero for the past 2 days and since I'm COMPLETELY new to all of this, I found no easy method.
After a lot of research, I realized I need to patch my recovery screen so I can load new ROMs (correct me if I'm wrong). I've tried many methods, one where I install Flashrec onto my phone, but that didn't work. I also tried this method I found on android.modaco.com. I can't link outside of this site since I'm new, so I can't show you the method. I can tell you the problems I encountered when trying the two procedures and maybe you can tell me what to do from there.
I also tried the Goldcard method. I think it worked out and my memory card is good to go, but I don't know where to go from there. (Also, how can I test out my memory card to check if it really has the Goldcard?)
Please don't bash me for not knowing anything on this stuff. I'd love to learn about it, but I just don't know where to start.
Help would be very appreciated.
EDIT: Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I searched throughout the entire site and tried to find the most appropriate section for me to put this thread and thought this was the place.

5 reasons not to root your Android
Hello Moekz, I am more or less in your situation, may I ask you a question? are you usually developing? if yes.. you probably will need a root, if not then probably it's better to keep the device as it is. There are few problems with rooting the phone and if the reason is to update to the 2.1...forget it now! At the moment there is not the perfect ROM on Web, we need to wait until HTC comes out with the official ROM. If you decide to root the phone you have to be sure the bluetooth, wifi are ok and the battery life is good...then is tricky and maybe dangerous for your phone if you don't follow step by step and perfectly the tutorial of Unlocker.com and xda suggestion. Anyway there is a video even on youtube: How to root your Hero with one click..watch it and then decide. I would wait 3-4 weeks. Good luck!

Well, that's just it. I don't want to wait 3-4 weeks for the update. It's been a while since HTC released Android 2.1, and we still don't have it for the Hero.

OX+ need help flashing.

Ok, you know, today I got my phone, I had been waiting forever, I got it and within 2 hours I screwed it up. I have followed and followed many forums and posts on how to fix this, and I am just.. lost. So please i need your help, I am seriously stressing out, and I know I shouldnt, but this is my first android phone. I am shot right now.
I had unlocked the bootloader, and then I tried to root it, then it rebooted and went into bootloop mode or whatever it is.
I still cannot figure out how to use this Hasoons2000's OX+ AIO kit. So I am just leaving it alone.
Ok the PC doesn't recognize it as a storage device, but the fastboot does recognize it, as I have executed a few commands, like reboot or something, just to test that it works.
My phone is ATT but I am in Russia so there is no sending this anywheres. All I want to do is reboot the OS and have it work again, I dont care what mod or stock rom it is, I just really need some direction here.
I know something about RUU, ATT RUU, Fastboot, some other stuff, I have like 5 pages on XDA pulled up and I cant figure this out.
What is the CMW or TWRP or whatever it is called? How do I flash a zip or an img to the phone? I really just want my phone on again.
Yes Ive done stupid noob stuff, but you learn. So please I am kindly asking for any assistance,
No need to stress. Its fairly hard to brick your phone, good way to learn quick also is to screw with it.
Just need the right guide and I think this will help you since u have fastboot access hopefully. Its a pain rebuiling so read everything so u only have to do it once.
Remember these guides are for different phones so don't use the ruu or recovery links, user my links below.

thank you very much I really appreciate your help. I finally figured out the ruu.exe thing, I didnt know they had to be the same numbers, ex 1.15.xxx.xx or whatever.
You see what happened originally was that I unlocked the bootloader, easy pie, but I tried to root it and that is when it started looping. Maybe I didnt understand something, but I seemed to have messed up right there.
Is there really any reason to root? I mean yeah there is super user, but doesnt bootloader help with that a bit? I know BL is for flashing custom roms and all.
May I ask how to flash a custom rom? I really want all of this ATT stuff off of my phone, I really dislike it.
Yes I know I can search, here, google etc. And maybe I should, but I end up getting so many different results, and here and there, and this and that. It really is just easier to talk to one single person who knows what they are doing. So if you could help me, I would again extend my appreciation.
Also I have the android revolution for ox+, and I dont know if it is.. you know.. THE BEST or not. Dont know what to do.
And yes, you live and learn, took me forever with iphones, then I realized hacking and roms and stuff were completely different from iphone. So new game new story.

Bricked by OTA Update! [Not rooted]

Hiya folks, bit of a problem. I never bothered to root or unlock my DNA (it's been getting the job done nicely with a few non-root customizations, and I have other gadgets to tinker away with). This morning I accepted the OTA update from Verizon, and now it's bricked - stuck on the HTC splash screen.
I did a soft reset, cleared the cache partition, and performed a hard reset - no dice. Called Verizon and HTC, no help - I can pretty much do a repair/replacement if I'm still under warranty. I'd really rather avoid going down that path, as I think I'm barely over the warranty (though I can hopefully get them to honor it if I'm within 30 days).
Is there any way I can still flash this back to an older stock, having never unlocked it? I can only get the thing into fastboot mode, and all of the instructions I've found are for when the phone's been bricked after rooting. adb can't seem to talk to it at all, probably because it's in fastboot. Is it safe to attempt using an RUU or some sort of image to flash it using the fastboot utility?
Since it's already bricked, I went ahead and made a go at it using an older RUU, but it quick before even trying, claiming I needed the correct version of the utility. It's possible I did it wrong, though.
Any help would be much obliged! This is what I get for not rooting/learning how to do this stuff earlier...
EDIT: Before this newest update, my phone had the most up-to-date stock ROM. It was fully charged when it performed the OTA.

I can't get the phone to connect in fastboot. I keep getting a "driver failed to load" type error when I plug in the USB...the device is never visible.
Worked like a charm! The download took awhile, but once I had it downloaded it was easy.
For others searching for this issue:
Once you have the RUU, just install Android Development tools (specifically fastboot) and enter
>fastboot oem rebootRUU
>fastboot flash install IMAGEFILE.ZIP
Terminal/command prompt on the computer side told me it was finished but the phone was stuck at the very end of the progress bar. I waited a while few minutes, and when it didn't move I risked doing a
>fastboot reboot
and we were good to go.
Arise, thread!
So! My phone never bricked again, but a few weeks after I performed the RUU with the image linked earlier in this thread, I started to see the problem that early DNA's started to have with it randomly giving a "no SIM card" error. I'd had this issue when I first got the DNA, but at the time I just went through the normal phone replacement process to resolve it. Imagine my surprise when it came back after flashing! It's now reached the point where I will lose calls because of it, and will often have to reboot/toggle airplane mode to get data back, so I finally got annoyed enough to post.
Presumably this problem is because the image I flashed from is the original DNA image with the drivers that cause that SIM issue. So my question is: if I s-off, root, and install a custom ROM, will that take care of it? Or is this particular issue so deep on the driver level that I need to find a more recent RUU?
I also have not yet tried a new SIM - because of the timing of the problem, I'm slow to believe that it's related to the SIM card, but I suppose it isn't impossible.

The only way I have seen this permanently resolved is to get a new Sim tray from HTC. I got one and my brother did too and I never get Sim card errors like I used to. Just go to their website contact their support and ask for one and they send it out for free no questions asked.

Thanks, may as well give it a try. What's odd is that this problem hadn't happened at all with this sim tray until after I flashed, which really makes it sound like a software issue. Still, worth a shot!

It's a known hardware issue in the DNA. When they give you a new Sim tray it's thicker and it holds the Sim card in place better resulting with no more errors.

SHARP INFOBAR C01: Rooting, Unlocking, Installing ROMs

I need some help with this, and seeing that people have worked on the Infobar A01/02 I would assume there's people here who can tackle this. I have no idea how you would go about Rooting or Unlocking a SHARP device, let alone a Japanese one and I don't see the C01 listed anywhere.
I'd also like to know how I would go about installing a ROM alongside the default one on here.

Anyone at all? The least I'd need to know is how to boot into recovery mode. I found one site that talks about the power and volume buttons at startup but nothing happens. I've gotten into recovery with a G1 but that's about it. Do I have to like inject my own recovery bootloader or something?
Bumping, still no luck on finding a GingerBread 2.3.4 rooting option.
I'm trying to inject su and Superuser manually but I can't mount with the recovery menu, so I'm trying to install CWM but I need root to do that, but that gives me root to give myself root. l:L
I'm in a vicious cycle, pls send hepl im dyign
What's a universal root method for GingerBread 2.3.4?
Just found out you can't get a universal root for 2.3.4 and that you have to have a custom method. Ho how would you go about making a root method at all?
I also think that the phone has a locked bootloader which would explain why I can't access the recovery menu options. I feel a bit silly, I suppose that's a large reason why some of this stuff isn't working at all. If anyone knows some Infobar bootloader stuff just feel free to post.
I just found a thread about someone else trying to figure out all of the things I'm trying to figure out only it's not on an Infobar but another Sharp device on KDDI. I think they eventually found someone else had made a root, but I kinda didn't read the entire thread. Still wondering if anyone has already got a solution.
Much the same
I have a c01 here in the UK, still wearing factory stickers. A very poor buy, considering I can't make a call with it. I have looked high and low but can't get anywhere with it. Sharp/kddi/AU I have asked them all. No can do. Although I read a Canadian chap had his unlocked by them, they simply won't at any cost.
I can't even get a phone shop to look at it.
To be honest, I know about as much as my gran about mobiles. I'm a quick study, but would rather pay, if there was somebody to pay.
Any positive direction would be much appreciated. Best advice so far is to bin it and try to forget.

I own one of these.
I found Kingo Root successfully roots it.
Unfortunately, no CM has been built for it.... yet. I plan to fix this.
Fair warning, though: do NOT remove anything child-mode-related yet, unless you have a backup of the system partition. It's basically an AOSP ROM, but they've tweakedwith the SYSTEMUI enough that straight-up removing it causes crach loops.
It's got an RK3188 chip, for the curious. Opened it to verify.

Great.
Ive learned the hard way! lol
Bit too late for me now, but i had a similar tab from smart telecom and i cant find any firmware for it, i rooted with kingroot and after removing all the child mode and disney crap, im having the same thing.
Ive started a thread, but im hoping i can find a patched firmware without all the bloatware and a newer android build if possible.
HI - Just came across this thread, pity I hadn't seen it earlier - I had/have rooted with King Root, which worked fine. Then set about deleting all the child-mode-related apps. Now I'm stuck with receiving "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" nothing seems to fix it. Do you know where I might find the original ROM that I can restore, can't find anything on the manfactures website..
Any help, really appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Wayne,
I contacted the supplier who was going to contact the manufacturer, still have not found anything.
Someone else started a thread some time back and did the same thing as us.
I think someone was going to create a ROM for me, i will direct them to this thread.
Thanks for the update.
I had some success last night in resolving my issues with "com.android.systemui" - I managed to get into play store and reinstalled "Net Nanny for Android" as soon as the install had completed the error message went away and hasn't returned. The other "Kids" apps that I had deleted have not reinstalled, appears Net Nanny must have removed/broken something when I deleted it.
Would be still good to get a copy of the original rom for next time, better still to get an upgrade from 4.4.4 to something a little newer at least.
Anyway hoe that help to get you going again.
Wayne
I am ordering one of these now. Let me know if there's anything I can do to try to help in terms of getting a copy of the ROM. (I haven't done android development before, but I am a software engineer so I am willing to give anything a shot)

Let me know how you get on, as I am still after a ROM image if i can find one.
Going to start researching all the possible ways to get a ROM image (in addition to just asking the manufacturer). I will first do a search, and then maybe post in the forums somewhere, but I am starting here:
http://www.theandroidhow.com/2014/06/how-to-dump-backup-any-android-rom.html
Did some research, and actually found that the androidhow article I linked in my last post was the most relevant. I followed the romdump script process and believe I have the rom image files.
The question becomes, are the image files most usable in their current form, or as flashable images?
Has there been any developments in this, or anything close to a ROM or even an update?

Not that im aware of, i just did what someone else suggested here and reinstalled netnanny off the app store.
At least its working again, but not terrific.
Oh, well I didn't have that problem. The guy I bought this streamachine off of already had it rooted and everything, i was just wondering if anything had been developed...4.4.4 is quite a bit outdated, and limited.
Clay,
Can you upload that ROM image that you made? I bought another ST13 and while I can get it into recovery mode, it still won't boot even after a factory data reset. My plan is to try recovering from the sdcard before I assume that what I have is a collection of spare parts.
My two others aren't rooted, and since we need them tonight, I don't dare mess with them right now.
Thanks,
Paul
can I get a copy?
I rooted my ST13 and now I'm having bluetooth problems. I'd like to restore back to the stock ROM. Can I have a copy of yours? Does it work?
THANKS!

I am also interested in this thread, anyone know about the bootloader?
???
So still no DISK IMAGE or ROM? I successfully rooted St1316 but can't connect to wifi. I left natnanny alone, but it now doesn't connect to ANY wifi networks. Tries then switches to either "saved" or "disabled". I can push some apps to the device via bluetooth file transfer app but don't know what's missing. Could this be a permission issue? I'm lost and stressed. Tried factory wipe. No luck. Open to suggestions. Help guys. This thing kinda sucked before I lost wifi. Now it's just a glorified digital photo frame that plays sound WAY too softly.
