Problems getting Firmware to work - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im have a lot of problems getting my P7510 Galaxy Tab working on new firmware.
Ive tried several different firmwares and none of them have worked properly. Currently I am working with Stock Firmware from January 2012 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452060). After using Odin, it installs better than any of the other firmwares ive tried, and after every fresh installation Android will sometimes open up normally after which it then crashes! On subsequent attempts to run it I always end up with the Samsung Logo screen.
Ive always done a Factory Reset before & after installation, also Wiped Cache occasionally. I have also installed CWM and cleaned the Dalvik Cache on several occasions.
Maybe I should try a different Stock Firmware. Ive done some searches (ie, sammobile) but cant find any. Can someone give me a link where I can get a different Stock Firmware. Or maybe this isnt the problem. Can somebody tell me where I go from here.

The problem is likely not to be the firmware or ROM you are installing but the procedure you are following. You only do Factory Reset before a fresh installation. However, you do not need to do a Factory Reset after installation as that amounts to wiping off the installation you had just done. In order words, your device is blank and has NO SYSTEM TO RUN IT! Try installing a custom ROM again without the factory reset. The other wipes you do i.e. cache and dalvic are in order, before and after installation.
For a very clean installation also format system under Mounts and Storage in CWM. Ensure you have the latest version of CWM 6.0.3.3 before you start, especially if you intend to run Jelly Bean 4.2.2 based ROM such as CM 10.1 etc.
Hope this helps you.
Cheers.

Actually, factory reset wipes data and cache. It doesn't wipe system so after a ROM installation its OK to factory reset.

Thanks for your advice folks. This is where ive got to now:-
After cleaning Dalvik Cache, a Factory Reset and formatting system under Mounts and Storage I installed the stock firmware and the device booted as it should. I was able to connect to wi-fi and Play Store and do some updating etc., But once I Powered Off the device it wouldnt boot up properly again, it just hung on the darn Samsung Logo. So I installed CWM and on reboot, lo-and-behold, the device started working normally (without me having run CWM at all). Then I subsequently Powered Off and started again but once more got stuck on that Samsung Logo. So then I wiped Dalvik Cache to see if it would boot properly, and it didnt. And then I did a Factory Reset to see if it would boot properly and it didnt.
Where do I go from here?

I think you might have the wrong bootloader.
That said, your firmware seems to be Korean. You can visit samsmobile and download a more updated/recent firmware version of ICS preferably US or UK and that will give you the correct bootloader for most custom ROMs you may wish to install.
Sorry for all your troubles.
Cheers.

Pershoot has the correct bootloader in www.droidbasement.com. Yes, bootloader should be flashed through bootloader. Please ensure you download the right one for your device variant. Flashing official stock ICS will also give you the right bootloader.
Cheers.

Ive had a look at www.droidbasement.com but I am not sure which is Pershoot 'correct' bootloader. I find it quite a difficult site to navigate. If you can direct me to the specific download for the P7510 that would be great.
In the meantime I did [yet another] reinstall and in this instance Android opened as it should. The first thing I did was to connect to Kies and installed the recommended Kies Update. So I know now for sure I am running a kosher version for my P7510 device. However after powering down it wouldnt boot up again, it once more got stuck on the Samsung logo (even after doing Factory reset and clearing Dalvik Cache etc.,). It begs the question, do you still think its the Bootloader thats the problem?

I should imagine so, after all there a boot up problem. However since the problem is now perpetual, you may have to speak with Samsung guys.

Attempt to return to stock resulted in glitchy ROM, help for second try, please.

So, I somehow managed to brick my phone using factory reset on CM9, and subsequently flashed back a stock firmware with Heimdall. Version was LPO (Nordic). However, something went wrong, as no matter what I did (several resets, dalvik wipes with cwm, permissions), the status bar would not appear. Not good for usability.
When flashing, I skipped the modem, boot.bin, the .sbl file and param.lfs. Just to be safe.
I'm currently back on CM9 nightly. Works perfectly.
I'd like to flash a clean stock ROM so I can take a nandroid backup of it (one without cf-root, now that I know how to get temporary cwm); is there something obvious I did wrong? Could I for example format /system prior to flashing to remove any trace of CM9. Would that even help? I'm on Linux, so I can't use Odin or Kies.

I'd thought that a factory reset is a full wipe, but I guess I was mistaken. I'll Google a bit more about it and perhaps then try formatting the system partition as well later today.

Still not working
Hm. So I tried flashing stock again after formatting /system (LPG version this time, since LPO was pulled by Samsung) and now my phone is stuck in the "S" screen. (A bootloop, I guess? I'm not sure of the terminology). I can get into stock recovery and even CWM (it's on the external SD) but no amount of factory resets or dalvik wipes do anything. Should I have wiped something else as well?
Flashing seemingly went successfully, but this time the stock rom won't even boot :/ What could cause that? I skipped the bootloaders and modem & params.lfs again but those should be safe to leave out, right? (I've never touched them when flashing, only kernels and the filesystem images)
Update: Was able to install LPO, but the glitch is still present, even after reformatting /system.

I tried LPQ (I wanted Nordic) and it works. Can't update OTA though. I guess it's the newest version that my operator has, then? BRB backing this one up...:good:
Status update: gained access to Odin and successfully flashed LPG/NEE. Now on true stock firmware; no idea why Heimdall failed. Might be the firmware was corrupted.

[Q] Samsung Exhilarate: Soft Brick or Hard Brick?

Noob here, please bear with me:
Updated my I577 to ICS, then rooted it using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806118
Worked like a charm, then I picked up ROM Toolbox Lite from PlayStore, which worked fine until I tried to change themes.
Somehow, it got to where boot was stuck at vendor logo. Unfortunately I did not Nandroid backup in time, but I was able to do a Kies backup before rooting, so not worry about the data loss at this time.
Used CWM5, did davlik & cache wipes, factory resets several times, no dice. No stock ROM available so I tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30444507&postcount=6
(flashed system tar through ODIN) Hanged at "system.img.ext4".
Here's where I'm at now:
-- Boot looping at second Samsung logo
-- ODIN 1.85 still reads device at port
-- Battery indicator visible when plugged in & power off.
-- Still able to get to cwm recovery 5.5.0.4
So, IS IT SOFT BRICKED OR HARD BRICKED?
Bonus Question: Is it unbrickable?
Any input or answers are GREATLY appreciated, and a fix will most likely be monetarily compensated through Paypal.
Black-wolf, j3r3goss, or shabbypenguin if you see this, your input is certainly appreciated as well!
Its soft bricked. Hard brick means there is no life at all and won't even power on (through software).
Any soft brick is unbrickable, the only nonunbrickable brick is a hard brick (which is rare)

THANKS so far for the input!
I was able to nandroid out of the loop, but now it's back to my original problem--it keeps booting to the "Rethink Possible" AT&T screen & freezing.
Any ideas? I'm thinking I'm gonna be outta luck until I get my hands on a legit Gingerbread Stock tar.
Did you whipe cache, whipe data and preform a factory reset like we suggested? Preforming a nandroid restore won't get you out of your phone hanging on the at&t logo.

Hi thanks for your response to my problem,
yes i flashed a custom recovery from clockwork and i rooted it. i cant get in to recovery mode.
after i did that i tried flashing custom rom like i said before but after reboot it didnt do anything.
i just got the startscreen and found that i could use download mode and odin to flash original rom.
i used 1 click downloader from Odin and it started to recover my rom,but at the end it stalled.
after that happened i couldnt do anything anymore.
i thought it was totally dead but i just saw that when i connect to my comp it says unknown device..
im an idiot for trying this stuff without the knowledge..it looked easy in descriptions
but i found different descriptions how to do it..
i cant put links in my posts yet cause i am new..
i used the 1st one.. but after that didnt work i found that other 1 and that is little different...

I did all that, but the one thing that finally nailed it was formatting my internal SD. I also formatted my external one, but I don't even think I put it back in the phone.
So, if anybody's reading this in the future, and you're still stuck after wiping the cache, wiping Davlik & performing factory reset,
FORMAT THE SD!
And flash this through Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31765274&postcount=59

Hey, total noob here but Im having problems with my Galaxy S4 so I was on this thread looking for a fix.I have an AT&T Galaxy s4 (SGH-I337) and I just rooted my phone and installed clockworkmod recovery. I went to backup and then when I rebooted it freezes at the AT&T logo. Ive wiped data/factory reset, wiped caches, etc ive done everything and it freezes at the same spot. I have no ROMS as I had just rooted, just stock 4.2.2. Then I saw a vid on how to unroot/unbrick and it was working perfectly until it went to reboot.(I downloaded 4.2.2 firmware for my model phone) I used ODIN and it said pass then when it was rebooting it froze in the exact same spot (also instead of the normal bootup it still had the "custom" and an unlocked lock that Ive had since I rooted) and now I cant enter recovery mode. It starts booting but then freezes when the blue letters come on! Now even when I try to turn it on normally it freezes at the samsung logo (with unlocked lock and "custom")Please help! I would greatly appreciate it!

This is because your cache is being rebuilt on every reboot. Most likely from restoring a stock rom after using custom roms. This is never a good idea. If you need to return to stock you should do it by Odin. Stock roms do not back up/restore properly.
so this only happens after you wipe Dalvik? That's what's supposed to happen
No its been doing it every time i turn phone on for ages.
Just i read somewhere to wipe davlec should fix it.but then doubled the amount of updates after...
anyway i think will re flash rom from odin again should be better.
was just wondering if there was something simple i didnt do..but i guess its cause i came from non stock rom before..
Thanks for answers..
Are you sure that somewhere in twrp settings or anywhere else that you haven't set the device to wipe dalvik on each boot?

This has nothing to do with the issue. The issue is that the delvic cache is being deleted on reboot. A full wipe and reflash should fix him/her right up.

I'm assuming you have a P7510 as I have no idea what a P7010 is. However, that's probably unimportant.
If your tablet is that unstable, I'd install stock along with wiping data and cache. Don't reinstall any applications. If that doesn't make it stable, it would seem to be a broken device.

Sammobile.com has every stock rom you need, what you have to do is to flash the factory recovery e3 again and factory reset with the factory recovery, then flash cwm or twrp and your ROM again. Do not install any apps until your sure that it's fixed, if so, install the apps one by one and if something messes up, you know who the culprit is

[Q] Weird issues Cm11 / Stock

Hi there,
My SIII i9300 has been rooted and flashed with CM from CM 10.x to 11.x. Hoewever, recently it started to not give any audio during voice calls trough the normal mic. Speakers do work.
So, i've tried reflashing, clearing cache / dalvik etc. To no avail.
I then tried stock rom and for some reason this seems to do the trick.
As i'm not really a great fan of the Samsung bloatware and the 'awesome' skin overlay of samsung i would like to fix this issue.
I also tried some different roms to no avail. ( Also, i installed cm 10.2 because that used to be working fine)
I then tried installing different modems via CWM and ODIN. (BUELK1) and (CEEL1). It's a dutch phone on vodafone.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Btw, currently i'm running CM 11 nightly see below. Android 4.4.2
My baceband is currently i9300CEELL1
Kernel version 3.0.64-CM-gb1c5066
CM 11-20140228
greetinges, Volc
Try installing the ROM before wiping everything, including System ( data is recommended, as long as you don't have something important not backed up). And with 4.4 try to use MK6 modem or higher.

I thought you found the modems on www.boeffla-kernel.de . You can find them in the Download section. Also, if you are on CM11 (or any other ROM actually), you should download the ROM tog want to flash on your external SD Card, reboot into recovery, wipe system, cache, dalvik cache and data, flash the ROM, reboot system and use it for a few moments at least ( I would recommend you do that so that you won't get bootloop). Then, reboot into download mode, connect phone to Odin and flash the ROM. I would recommend wipe shading cache and dalvik cache, just for a flawless experience.

I saw this phone firsthand. (Hi volcomoo!)
The roms were flashed OK, double triple quadruple wiping probably wont make any difference.
The weird thing is that with CM installed there seems to be a hardware issue, when we flash the phone back to stock, everything works. I guess the developers will say "logcat or it didn't happen"....

The weird thing is that with CM installed there seems to be a hardware issue, when we flash the phone back to stock, everything works. I guess the developers will say "logcat or it didn't happen"....

Flashing the MK6 modem didn't work either. Tried dozens of roms. Anyone else might have a clue?
