Unlock code locked - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hello,
I wanted to unlock my phone and tried unlocking my phone with a number given to my by someone on eBay. Apparently, they had typed the wrong unlock code and the number of tries I have to unlock the phone is maxed out.
What can be done in this situation??
I really need to unlock this phone asap.
Any help will be appreciated.

So are you stuck at a screen or can you still "use" the phone without the sim?
*edit* Here is what I used to unlock my phone. Supposedly it can also find the unfreeze code, hope this helps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092451

First thing to do is check out the AT&T official unlock method, since, if you meet the criteria, they will give you a code for free:
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/?
If that is out of the question for whatever reason, there are a bunch of unlocking tools that will work for pre-JB roms (when you see me type "JB" it means Jelly Bean). Unfortunately, I found that NOTHING worked for me once I installed a JB based rom and I had to go the official route (which was easy for me since I bought the phone 2 years ago and was still with AT&T). If you are working on a stock SG2 the following stuff should work fine, though.
Here are your options:
Chainfire's - This, in my opinion is the best, as it uses a brute-force method to give you the ACTUAL unlock code and, more importantly in your case, the Master/Unfreeze code. However, it is for the i9100 so the play store may not let you install it so you will have to download it from that post and install it manually. The nv_data.bin file is the same between the i777 and the i9100, so this should work, provided you are running a pre-JB rom.
helroz's - This is what i used originally, mainly because it was one of the first and once I unlocked, I never looked back to see that there were better methods out there. This works by patching files on your phone, and as such is a little bit more "dangerous" if something goes wrong. This will almost definitely NOT work if you have a JB rom.
Spocky's - This is a little different, and I'm not exactly sure how it works. I know there is a cost for it, but it's in the app (the app itself is free). I would assume that it sends certain information to their server and brute-forces the codes for you, but I haven't used it so I really have no idea. I think they are pretty good about refunds if it doesn't work.
If none of this works, your only option may be AT&T, so if you aren't an AT&T customer, you may need to work something out with a friend who is, if they meet the criteria in my first link.
Hope something here helps.

[Q] Just got Vibrant, List of things I should check?

Greetings,
I just got me Samsung Vibrant from States, I'm not in States btw, the phone's locked, we'll get to that in a while, I have questions more related to the modding scene etc.
1. How do I check if the phone's rooted or not?
2. How do I check if it there is any lagfix installed?
3. I went to file explorer, there was update.zip, is it supposed to be there?
4. How do I know this is the stock version? I've checked from settings: Eclair 2.1 update 1, T959UVJI6.
5. I basically want to know if it was flashed before etc.
6. What unlock options do I have? I wish to keep $30 unlock option as last priority.
7. My in-phone IMEI and behind battery covery IMEI are same, however the one on the box is not the same. I dont really care, its just a box, as far as internal stuff matches, is there any way I can check that my IMEI is fine and this isnt a stolen set or anything? I intend to call T-mobile and request unlock code first.
My Background: HUGE android fan, been following for a while, finally Vibrant was the phone that I felt right for me and I got it. But my Android experience is zero. This is my first phone, but I do consider myself to be above novice computer user (Web development, programming, etc).
Also, wonderful community here at XDA
Also, kindly recommend me what method to use for rooting and lag fix
Many thanks.
Welcome to XDA.
1. How do I check if the phone's rooted or not?
Open the app drawer and look for the super user app. If it's there your're rooted.
2. How do I check if it there is any lagfix installed?
Look for an app called OCLF if it's there open it and check to see what it says inside. Also open your app file and look for a folder called Voodoo. If it's there then do some research on voodoo Before you flash anything!
3. I went to file explorer, there was update.zip, is it supposed to be there?
Yes, though it could be fore clockwork recovery. Read the bible posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111 and also this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 These guys spent a ton of time to ensure you have a great flashing experience.
4. How do I know this is the stock version? I've checked from settings: Eclair 2.1 update 1, T959UVJI6.
Sounds like the official build, if it make TMobile sounds and has lots of pink when it boots it probably is.
5. I basically want to know if it was flashed before etc.
Read the two link and look for the signs like I stated before.
6. What unlock options do I have? I wish to keep $30 unlock option as last priority.
I don't have any experience with this one. Maybe someone else here can help. Try searching the forums.
7. My in-phone IMEI and behind battery covery IMEI are same, however the one on the box is not the same. I dont really care, its just a box, as far as internal stuff matches, is there any way I can check that my IMEI is fine and this isnt a stolen set or anything? TMobile will only provide you and unlock code if you have an account with them that has been in good standings for over 90 days. Even then it could take up to 2 weeks to get that code from them.

[WIND] Simplest Unlock Procedure for Samsung Vibrant

So I just ordered a T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S from Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150577562044#payId
I realized after purchasing that it was not unlocked. So my question to you is simple: What is the latest and most secure/safe (unbrickable procedure) that I should go about to Unlock and Root my phone so I can use my Holiday Miracle Plan on Wind Mobile.
I have found this article via the search: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747625
It highlights what I have to setup to make Wind Home/Away work properly.
I have also found theses unlock/rooting techniques and this is what I was going to do (if there is a better and safer way to go about this PLEASE post a reply):
1. Root the phone with SuperOneClick
2. Install Busybox from the Market
3. Install Unlock Galaxy_S App by Helroz also from the Market
My main concern is Helroz's app I strictly followed his thread on how to manually unlock the Vibrant and I messed about with the earlier BAT files. I just need some reassurances that this is doable and a little info on modem types and basebands would be wonderful. This is my first android phone (coming from Apple/BB hacking) and I would like it to be a smooth transition.
Thanks in advance.
I thought Galaxy S One-Click Root is as it as it gets.
My main issue is this step:
3. Install Unlock Galaxy_S App by Helroz also from the Market
Rooting seems quite simple I got that down pat. SuperOneClick is awesome. My REAL issue is this:
How can I check the phone's Baseband Modem and depending on what modem I have would this unlock by Helroz work for me?
I'm looking at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868774 and I'm trying to wrap my head around all the different modem models and what the difference between CWM and ODIN is. Is there is an FAQ that someone can point me to?
And lastly what ROM do you suggest I flash on it. I believe the phone (I don't have it yet tbh internationl shipping to CAN is slowww) is shipping with 2.1 Eclair stock and I want to install a 2.2 rom on it that's preferably balanced between speed and battery life, leaning a little more towards battery life.

Any chances of a hardware brick while attempting a carrier unlock? And What is this that i'm hearing about Hardware Locked devices?

No chance of a brick, all it does is give you your unlock code which you then "dial" and hit send. Phone unlocked.
Or you can call T-Mo customer service and ask for it, as long as your phone isn't stolen, they shouldn't give you any trouble about getting the unlock code.
I don't know if Vibrants can be hardware locked... I always thought that referred to phones with nand locks, like the G2. But I could be wrong.
Sent from my rough sketch of a Vibrant on a brick.
Helroz's unlocker will from the market will work
Badie,
Thank you SO MUCH for saving me hours of frustration. Could'nt access my phone via USB and on top of that phone got locked from my "games"......You are the knight in shining armor :O)
Thanks guys unlocked and rooted now!

Unlock Virgin S2 GT-I9100

Has anyone here been successful in unlocking a Galaxy S2 from Virgin Mobile? Exact same phone as Bell Canada I do believe.
I have tried chainfire's method, but the scan turned up nothing. There are alternatives through websites/purchases but I am a little leery about giving someone 50$ to MAYBE unlock my phone. I am also worried about potentially bricking my phone. My warranty is now void due to rooting and installing a custom rom and neglecting to back up my original software (stupid I know. What's done is done).
Is it even possible to use a different sim card in these phones from said provider?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Since you're rooted install this app and run it.
A second vote for Helroz's's's's tool. It works well and also can back up your EFS folder regardless of whether you want to unlock or not. EFS back ups can come in very, very handy.
Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate the help. I am not entirely sure I know what "busybox" is though or how to install it. I'll check a few guides and what not to figure out what exactly I'm doing.
Now, before I go about this, I want to ensure that I cannot brick my phone should I screw something up. I know that the other program I used only read and didn't write so bricking wasn't a problem. This one however I've been told does both so it's always a risk.
My phone's approximately 2 months old and I don't have the original firmware to go back to stock nor do I have a JIG yet to remove the yellow asterisk from boot. If I screw something up ,I'm in a whole world of hurt haha.
Thanks again guys
- Chris
I ran the tool (as a SGS at first, realized my error and quickly deleted said files and ran the SGS2 ones instead. Swapped SIMs with my roommate (Rogers) and made a phone call. Sure enough, it rang.
Thank you guys very much for the input
Now I have to find stock firmware and a JIG for warranty purposes.
Definitely going to donate to the devs of that app

HTCDEV.com - Scam

Hi xda community,
I was wondering, given I cannot find any straightforward thread about this, I decided to create one. If you know if any, please feel free to point me there.
Long story short, my HTC EVO 3D was unlocked and rooted (4ext) S-ON with LeeDrOiD, and all was working smooth. Unfortunately, it started having this strange issue that if I pushed close to the antenna/camera it would turn off, and would turn on just after some time.
Sent it for repair after flashing back the original rom and relocking, got it back with another motherboard.
Now, HTCDEV unlock code won't unlock it any longer, and HTCDEV support are just a bunch of retards who have no idea what a smartphone looks like (and I really can't say I got patience with callcenters that just bounce you back and forth with emails that carry nothing but air).
I got the ICS upgrade then when it came out, although I must say I really wasn't that much eager about it, but it was so annoying that I let it go through. I find it to be very bugged in a lot of departments and very unstable, and was wondering if in the meanwhile someone had found another way to unlock this device aside using the HTCdev site (so I might try King Cobra's or some other ICS cooked roms).
Any guesses? Personally, I have to say, I'm guessing I'm never gonna get another HTC in my entire life. I had HTC from the Diamond 1 phone, but this stupid policy they have now really ticked me off, and to "ensure unlock" but to deny it in such childish ways definetly isn't something I expect from an Enterprise such as them. Guess SAMSUNG, or NOKIA with WM8 will serve my needs better...
For the time being though, if anyone of you guys had any insight...
HBOOT is 1.53.0007
S-ON
Stock Rom and all the Jazz
(obv locked ).
Thank you very much!

Offcourse it won't unlock with the same code... you basically got a whole new device. follow all the steps on the htcdev site again and you'll be unlocked.
I find the customer service of htc to be just fine.

I obviously used another code generated from HTCdev website...
Just to hint you... It does happen EVERYTIME they change your motherboard (and the HTC support is full of retards).

[Q] Help with ZTE Z990G (Merit)

Hi, I am looking for some help Rooting/Unlocking my ZTE Z990G also known as ZTE Merit.
I like so many others made the mistake of falling for Net10's good priced no contract plans and phones only to be highly unsatisfied by the time my 30 day unlimited plan was up...Now the phone is of decent quality and I do want to keep it, but I just do not feel like $50 a month is worth the horrid customer service and other issues I have had.
Basically I want to unlock my phone to use with T-Mobile, however net10 is refusing to give me the unlock code. I have made multiple calls and gotten various representatives but each one responds with the same questions when I ask "Are you meaning to unlock your phone to use with another provider? Why?" and then when I say yes (and give any reason, even that I'm going to be overseas) "Oh, I'm sorry our phones can't be unlocked. Have a good day!" First of all I know this is BS because I have seen an unlocked Merit with my own eyes and know if can be done.
So all in all, can someone help me to unlock my phone? I am willing to root if necessary, I just need it unlocked so I can use my t-mobile sim card in it. I went to unlockclient.co and it says they can unlock it but I would rather not pay $25 for something I don't know is safe...Please help!
(sorry for all the ranting)

I'd never have stayed with them for that long, Net10 sucks
Ok, so I tried http://www.unlockclient.co/
Paid the 25 bucks and it unlocked my Merit in under a minute! Now I can use T-Mobile! As stated on their webpage if you leave a positive comment on their Youtube video they'll refund you $3. I left my review and within 25 mins paypal notified me of the refund!
Here's the video to comment on for the refund. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0HHQy0tXJQ
****Disclaimer****
If your phone was manufactured or sold to you after January 28th, 2013 it is illegal according to federal law for you to unlock it without permission from your carrier. I will not be held responsible in anyway if you break the law.
My Merit was both manufactured and purchased prior to Jan. 28th 2013.
Hopefully you can get unlocked and away from Net10 without breaking the law :good:

Sadly, no, my phone isn't rooted though I really wish it were. I am no where near Tech savvy and afraid Id brick it if I were to do it on my own.
I did however obtain the "PUK" code for my sim card (crazy enough through Net10) she just failed to tell me how to enter it in my phone to unlock it. So Im basically back to square one. ... I like my phone and all, I just hate that it hardly has any memory at all.
Im not sure if this is the right forum for my next question, but..... is it possible to change the stock or whatever from gingerbread to something
I really do appreciate your advice else? Lol told you, not tech savvy at all.....
Still think you can help??

Hey! So I finally rooted the phone (I know, yay right!) To do so, it was suggested that I install TouchNavRecovery and DexMeritRoot, which did as said...Root achieved. Since I've installed a custom rom called Icecream Scamwhich and ran it.....(really liked this one but had a few kinks to be worked out(which I was told to wait until they were fixed before installing) and I decided to try something else)
Now, I'm running a custom rom called the blue steel that I installed last night.
Do you think that you could possibly still help me? Id so appreciate any advice when it comes to the Z990g.

I'd go with that ROM. I've tried IceCreamScamWich which is a deodexed and themed version and one by StayBoogy on an overclocked kernel running at 777mhz but SpeedFreak2.0 is just amazing for this phone. You even keep more system storage through sd-ext4.
Try this kernel : androidforums.com/avail-all-things-root/525527-kernel-kernel1-0-update-apr-7-11-33-released.html
Overclocked to 864mhz and running smooth. Uncanny really. Hands down SpeedFreak2.0/HotROD is the best.

As for unlocking, I've tried all those ROMs and non of them include unlocking. So I also tried that unlock client.co and did get my $3 refund as well. Somehow, I ended up with an awesome unlocking app throughout my search in making the most out this phone that works flawlessly for anyone interested.

Unfortunatly, Im not permitted to enter links or paraphrase them in the forums just yet but I do hope I can still be of some assistance (someway)
You should check out some good reads at Androidforums in the All Things Root Section for the zte merit z990g also known as the Avail. In those rooms you will find two Bloggers by OUT OF IDEAS and STAYBOGGY or you can search android forums for the TouchNavRecovery, the DexMeritRootzip, the ICS icecream scamwhich, as well as the Steel Blue Rom. All are great and wonderful just not my "fit"
as for how I did it, These zip files are fairly simple. The guys made them basically fail proof (thank goodness or Idz been up a creek wirhout a paddle & probably bricked my z990g) I just downloaded, backed up phone and user data/apps/informion.
Downloaded all those files TouchNavRecovery, DexMeritRootzip, ICS Icecream scamwhich, and Blue Steel Rom (decided to make another
Root Checker Basic and SuperUser from playstore (just so I wouldnt have to later.)
Copy TouchNav to Sd card (cant be in a folder has to be zip file)
Renamed it update.zip
Boot from recovery by turning phone off and holding down the MENU, VOLUME UP & THE POWER BUTTON down all at once until phone boots back up showing the recovery menu.
Using volume button to control cursor, I choose CLEAR DATA
Then selected INSTALL ZIP FROM SD CARD.
let it install. Once complete REBOOT
Then when phone powers back up RENAME the file RECOVERY.
(Decided to make another backup here)
Step 2:
Copy DexMeritRoot.zip to Sd
Rename update.zip
Boot from recovery
Wipe data
Install update.zip
Reboot (should be rooted by now)
Renamed Z990g_root
Then simply followed those same steps to install the ROMS
Updates MUST be renamed update.zip or they wont install. (Not sure if this rule applies each time you install a new kernel, custom rom, etc or if it only applies to when you install from stock., to be safe I renamed each one update.zip before installing and made sure to rename them before I copied another to the sd cards root and renamed it to update.zip to avoid confusion)
Im also aware it may not of been required biut I backed up everything several times.
Before I rooted with all zip files and su as well as root checker basic downloaded prior to wiping any data.
AFTER the installment of update.zip for TouchNavRecovery
AFTER installing the DexMeritRoot.zip
AFTER installing ICS icecream scamwhich
AFTER installing the Blue Steel custom ROM
oh and AFTER I installed the stayboggy overclocked Kernel for my zte z990g.
As stated, currently Im unable to post links as per xda forum rules until I reach 10post I believe it is, but I hope to of been some help to those who are also new to rooting and seeking to explore the Zte Merit Z990g at its fullest possibilities.
Im currently seeking information on su commands and how to use Android terminal emulator If you should be intrested please check over at Androidforums for more tips as they are Noob user friendly and insightful as well
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any mishaps or misfortunes if any reader should attempt the above method of rooting their device or installing a custom rom mentioned in this thread. Please note that just because these methods worked for my device DOES NOT mean that it will work for others, therefore releasing myself and the xda forum from any liability should you attempt any above zip and brick your device. stones

I recommend you also try SpeedFreak2.0!
As for unlocking, I've tried all those ROMs and non of them include unlocking. So I also tried that unlock client.co and did get my $3 refund as well. Somehow, I ended up with an awesome unlocking app throughout my search in making the most out this phone that works flawlessly for anyone interested.

I'd go with that ROM. I've tried IceCreamScamWich which is a deodexed and themed version and one by StayBoogy on an overclocked kernel running at 777mhz but SpeedFreak2.0 is just amazing for this phone. You even keep more system storage through sd-ext4.
