I really don't understand Wi-Fi tethering... What i think it is that you connect your Wi-Fi then when Wi-Fi tethering starts, it can make that certain Wi-Fi the hotspot? Im not sure how to do it tho... And i read that whenever you use Wi-Fi tethering T-Mobile will notice and charge you. Even when tethering within an app, but some apps have an option to stay hidden. All I'm trying to say is how do i exactly Wi-Fi tether?

Hi,
When I enable 3G hotspot, EVDO data connection automatically is disable.
That means, my laptop can find wifi signal and connect to my phone but neither of them have access to Internet.
Anyone have the same problem like me?
Thanks,
MA
Is there any app like 3G Hotspot?
Ya there are a few. Wireless tether is in the market. It works pretty well. And if you look through the themes and app section there is another wireless tether that will allow you to tether another phone and such.

Like the title says. I've tried both "wifi tether for root users" and also "barnacle." Both will turn on but then I can't connect to it from my pc. Anybody else have this problem? And does anyone else know what to do to fix it? Thanks in advance.
Did u try running barnacle closing it out then using WiFi tether

Barnacle only runs Ad-Hoc on 3G. Setting in App. Some devices can't use Ad-Hoc.
Wifi Tether only seems to work on 4G.
Sprint Hot Spot (installed from a Custom ROM) runs AD (not ad-hoc) on 3G.
I can only get 3g from the native hotspot, no 4G tethering. It kicks me off 4G once I connects to native hotspot. The wireless tether starts with errors in the show log saying wifi interface failed. So basically thats a no go.

I can't get wifi tether to work for me either. Tried connecting to PS3 and it says "cannot obtain IP address" Hotspot works though.
WIFI internet sharing works pretty well. Received over 5 Mb/s on my laptop from speedtest.
But my work doesn't allow wifi networks. Anyone know how to tether via USB?
Did you subscribe to a tethering plan or was it already active? I didn't go with tethering since its data capped.

I went with the tethering plan. My usage is usually way below 4 GB.
so your work actively scans for wifi networks? Or is it disabled within your PC or laptop?

I'm hoping that both USB and Wi-Fi tethering gets opened up on the Titan. I would guess that the HD7 instructions for USB tethering would work if we could get our devices interop-unlocked. Let's hope that happens soon.
Work scans for it.
I rooted my MoPho, but can't seem to get my PC to connect to the internet via the phone's wifi signal. I bought a Belkin N150 wireless USB adapter. I can get the computer to pick up the MpPho's signal and connect via Wireless Tether or Quick wifi hotspot lite, but the computer says no internet connection, even though the signal strength is excellent. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
read around the general forum and the faq forum also. you might get some ideas from them. as far as i go i use wifi tether 3.1 beta 8 and it works fine.

I still cant get my PC to feed off the MpPho's wifi hotspot despite it connecting and having an "ecellent" connection. Any thoughts? Much thanks.
install Data Enabler from market, Quick Wifi HotSpot Lite
step by step
1. disable 3G by Data Enabler.
2. open Quick Wifi HotSpot Lite and start tethering.
3. enable 4G
works 100%
Can i use the phone as wifi card and share the connection via usb to my pc?
Every time i turn usb tethering on, wifi goes off...

I'm pretty sure you can only do one at a time, either USB tether or wifi tether, at least with the built in tethering. There may be apps like PDAnet that let you do both but I doubt it.
I could do that with my sola and ideosx5,why not with this?
Ok,i installed pdanet and it works just fine,a bit slow, but fine, cant understand why motorola would leave something like that,out..

This definitely works on MIUI, I just tried it. MIUI doesn't disable wifi when USB tethering is active. I disabled my 3G data, enabled wifi + usb tethering and I had internet access on my computer - whatismyip.com showed that I was on my phone's wifi connection and not 3G.
So if you have a GSM phone, you could give it a try.
