Hello Out There!
My Amaze 4G is rooted and bootloader unlocked. Running CM 10.1 and now I have a SIM card unlock code the phone will not accept, I'm assuming because it's rooted. I'd like to take it off T-Mo and move to AT&T occasionally for coverage reasons in places I frequent like the VA Hospital in Louisville, KY. I'm trying to reflash a stock ROM and then try the unlock code again. I have a good, activated AT&T SIM card and the unlock code direct from T-Mo.
Any thoughts? Think it'll help by flashing a stock ROM?
Thanks, folks!

Yeah stock roms are going to work better than AOSP roms when using unlock codes.
Just download arhd or fireRom or something stock and then try the code again. It should work.

Great THANKS and much appreciation!!
Flashed fireROM and the SIM unlock code worked perfectly first time. Now I have a stock Amaze on T-Mo and a modded Amaze on AT&T. Way cool, this tech business. Thanks for your help and the great contribution to ROM development.

I'm currently on UCLE5 Semi v17 btw.
Have u tried just unlocking it again?
Doesn't cost anything and may work the second time around? I unlocked it once and it stayed unlocked.

I hear that for a different sim card to work they have to be active. Are you calling the carriers and telling them you want service with them?

It doesnt have to be active. it can be a deactivated sim and it will still show the carrier branding
Are you unlocking the phone while on ICS ROM? In that case, it won't work. Revert to Gingerbread ROM and unlock while on Gingerbread.

And yes, the SIM cards that I've been trying are already activated on their associated carriers.

Well, I went to GB and used the Helroz unlock app and it still didn't work. I don't know why this is happening, but it's absolutely frustrating. I'm trying to get this phone working on Straight Talk but no method I've tried works.
I'm assuming you've tried the methods shown on the straight talk website regarding AT&T phones on their network... maybe I'm giving too much credit.

That unlock app worked for me when I used it . And I was on gingerbread when I did. And u said u went back to stock gingerbread and it still didn't work for u? Then I dunno very strange. And hey next time if u feel like someone said something u don't like, its totally understandable, just shoot them a pm about it. Saves thread wars

Hi guys
I'm planning to buy a SII from AT&T's (i777) as I searched and is the SII version I like the most. I'm in Colombia, southamerica and I'll buy a factory unlocked cellphone but I want to know if there's a problem with flashing a ROM like Cyanogenmod, can the phone get locked to AT&T's SiM cards or something like that??
Thanks in advance

If it's unlocked it'll stay unlocked until locked again :good: regardless of roms you flash. In other words, you'll be all set. Buy the phone, flash cyanogenmod and call it a day! Welcome to the forums

That's why I want to be sure, I never bought any operator locked phone and less from other country operator, I don't know how does it work with this phone since is a variation from AT&T, it's not an international version sim locked. You know if this phone can come unlocked from factory indeed or if is unlocked by any code instead??, for me is very important to be 100% sure since I'm out of US, want the phone and customization options as I don't like touch wiz that much
Thanks for your replies
Man, is not hard to unlock this phone.
You can unlock it by code BUT no one uses codes.
We do use some app from android store.
Check Galaxsim. There are others.
Go for it!

firstly you need to flash the tmobile based ics modem ( flash in cwm or twrp) found here:
http://multiupload.biz/fdpnprq0ov6o/Official TMo ICS RADIO_NOTE_MultiUpload.biz.zip.html
then after flashing boot into your rom and follow these instructions exactly (note: after pressing perso shaf256 off I had to press back twice instead of once, but then I was back on the network page and could choose [4] NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALLIZ):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024514
This really works I jut unlocked a bell i717 and am using it on rogers!! Screw paying the $35 dollars

Can't wait to try this on my Bell Note! I'm going to Florida soon and have been procrastinating on getting the phone unlocked...
Score one for procastination!
I was surprised when it actually worked... I got screwed out of an unlock code by an online company (only 8 bucks but still) so when I saw the t989 modem and thread about free unlock for their phone (using the same modem you can flash on ours) I had to try it! I flashed a rogers radio afterward and the unlock stayed also.
Thanks for posting! I'll definitely be trying this out when my Note arrives on Saturday.
Worked perfectly!
I am impressed! I worked like a charm in the very first try! I used a AT&T Galaxy Note I717 with stock ROM (I717UCLF6, kernel 3.0.8). The best part is that later I flashed another ROM (Padawan) and it remained unlocked. Did a couple of phone calls and it is working great! Thank you so much! :victory:
you're quite welcome guys! Figured I had to share the wealth on this one and hopefully save some users some cash and/or getting scammed by too good to be true unlock code site "deals".
Got my note unlocked for $3 but I will pass this method on.
Thanks.

The Note has been out for a while. Is there any reason not to simply call ATT (or whatever carrier you have) and ask them for the unlock code? Don't get me wrong. If this method is safe and if it works, then thank you for sharing.
can anyone verify this does work on at&t? and do we just reflash an at&t modem after its done?
thanks

Sorry, Crixley. I think your post is appreciated, and though I wasn't terribly excited at first, I did thank you. I forgot to push the Thanks button but that's taken care of now. I wasn't sold at first that this unlock would work but it appears to be valid for several users. And, being an ATT user for many years, I can get my unlock with a simple phone call. However, I see your post as very valuable for many others. So, THANKS!
It looks like there aren't any ROMs based on the T-Mobile formware on any of the forums. Are y'all getting the same data speeds on the international ROMs? Is there a tmobile radio to flash?
You should be able to flash any in the HTC One Forum. Our device is the M7 so you should have no issues. Only problems some people have been seeing is from ATT so far with roms that don't have the proper RIl files and this is believed to cause the radio to switch from E, H, and LTE chronically.

stupid question, but does flashing the roms on the international one forum **** up the radio?
Only if the ROM includes the radio. As far as I know, no one is including radios in their ROM's. I would personally hold off flashing any radio until we get a flashable zip, RUU, or other means to go back to the shipped radio. Some users are having issues with the WWE radio on Tmobile and ATT. Some may think it's just the rill files too.

I mean, the "you can sort of unlock the bootloader but you can't have S-OFF" is obnoxious but it isn't any easier to bring your phone--if anything, the limitations placed on operations done in recovery make it harder to actually brick your phone since the boot and recovery images are normally flashed in fastboot.
But yeah, Nexus phones are much kinder to tinkerers. News at 11.

Yeah, that's what I did too. Only mildly sad to give up wifi calling; I never go over on minutes anyway.
Can't wait until there's T-mo specific roms. I get absolutely crap reception in my apartment and NO reception at work, so i desperately need wifi calling.
What we need is a good all around android dev /Rom chef to dedicate there time to our branded HTC one.
I hope Roms aren't gonna be generic forever leaving us with partially set up Roms/ having to flash radios constantly and whatnot !Never knowing what's compatible and what's not .
If that's the case I foresee a lot of angry people and jtag sales in the future .
I'd give it a month or two before we have a few 2-4 dedicated tmo HTC one roms 100% ready to flash and go just for us only .

I have installed the ViperDNA 2.0.3 ROM on my Droid DNA. I am in Verizon network.
Question:
I know there is a gsm version and a Verizon version for this ROM. I have travel plans and plan to go outside USA (India) and use a local GSM sim card there. Will my phone work with the Verizon version of the ROM if I just insert the gsm sim card? Or do I need to flash the gsm version for the ROM?
I have been able to use a gsm sim card before with the stock ROM. Not sure if it will work with Viper ROM. Please help!

I'm not absolutely sure. But I'd think you would need a contract with like tmobile to pick up GSM.
It's not with T-Mobile.. I am planning to use pre-paid in India for a month on the network there.. Was just wondering if the Verizon version of the ROM will work by just switching to global network..
