I just got my amaze today. I was expecting a stellar camera experience but instead all my photos come out blurry with the stock camera app.
When I switch to CameraFX from the market it takes much better pictures however.
Any way to fix the stock camera? I assume this is not normal judging from the reviews I have read.

I've NEVER been able to get a pic to look like the elite pics in the pic thread. I just chalked it up as "operator dysfunction."
Maybe I will try a different camera app.

yea i also experience same.all my photos come out blurry with the stock camera app.
Just gotta play around with it, those other apps focus were and when you want them to, unlike the stock one. Never hurts to have a second one.

My stock camera is fine. Hit menu and check the resolution. Mine was set at low resolution by default. That and the other options.
It also helps to have a steady hand since it has a quick shutter

That's very true. It's fairly easy to get a bad snapshot if your not used to it.
I have not had a single issue like that. I think the stock camera is sick and I have tested alot if other camera apps.

Hmmm idk I'll keep messing with it. Would a factory reset help?

tweak your brightness to contrast ratio and one key thing is always to get a good steady pic is set your camera in/on time mode (2 seconds is enough to hold it steady..)

Yis it that the LTE camera takes perfect pictures and videos outside, but inside the quality is poor. I thought it was jus me but the one x is the same way, outside is good and inside poor. Any suggestions?

Are you using stock settings? If you don't already know, simply adjusting your ISO settings to different light condition makes a huge difference.

its the phone's screen, the colors are very saturated, if you look at the video (or images) on your computer the colors look much more natural.

Every HDR picture I take has ghost type image, like the camera shifted just slightly.
I know the hardware of the camera in the G2 is supposed to be great, and people are raving over it, but coming from the Note 2, and even looking at my wife's GS3, I'm not a fan. Does anyone else experience the extremely poor auto focusing, and the ghosting when moving the camera to get your shot? I'm not well versed in the world of photography, and I like how dummy proof the Note 2 made things. If your subject moves (and seeing as mine is a 13 month old, she's always moving), the pics come out very poorly. With the quick auto focusing on the Note 2, great pics weren't a problem.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? Something I should try differently? I want to keep this device, but this problem will have me returning and waiting for the Note 3 or even heading to the dark side (and I REALLY don't want to), the iPhone 5S.
I have definitely noticed that this phone's camera doesn't like it when you're moving the phone or taking a picture of something that's moving. It's always disturbingly blurry when I move the camera around. However, stills look pretty great. The camera wasn't a huge selling point of the phone for me so I'm not too worried about it but I hope when we get custom ROMs developers will include better camera apps.

You're right - maybe there will be better camera apps when the custom ROMs hit. I'm willing to donate for that, no prob. I love everything about this device with the exception of that. I tried to install the GS3/Note 2 camera apk, but it wouldn't work sadly.
Change the iso. The HDR is incredible on the G2.

Coming from a Note 2 and S4, I've found the camera on the G2 to be much better in both normal and HDR modes.
I had some poor auto focus shots at first until I realized all the smudges on the camera lens from learning to locate the rear buttons appropriately.

This is truly a great pic. And I agree it is a great cam, which is why I'm bummed I'm getting poor pics. I think my biggest problem is how slow it is to focus. The picture is gone by the time it does.
The camera on the G2 is amazing. I am very impressed.

Some Times auto focus does take longer than usual but I must say coming from a note 2 and lumia 928 this camera trumps them both easily. Try sports mode for the kids.it worked very well in my niece today! You won't get the low light sensitivity though.

Hi all,
I was pointed to this thread on another forum:

The intro is in Chinese, but once you scroll through it you get to the English menus and interface.
I downloaded the most recent version (3.5) and installed it on my rooted G2. Boy! What a better app! Seems to have a better AE method and there are a lot of very cool options to toy with while retaining manual control.
I've been using it for an hour now and I really like it.

I noticed that too, but when you actually take the picture it does pre-AF and I've had excellent results. Didn't screw around with manual focus yet.

how this compare to the camera fx zoom for 1.99 on the play store?
i don't like camera zoom much..but this is damn good. i love all the settings.
---------- Post added at 06:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:08 PM ----------
funny thing i noticed though..in video, mode, it shows a couple stuck white pixels.
they aren't there on the stock camera. i'm wondering if the software is a bit glitchy when it comes to third party video cameras. i noticed this on the GPE camera as well. weird right?
I've been comparing some identical shots between stock camera and super camera, and I'm surprised to see that Super Camera actually looks better. There is more detail and it's a little darker so it doesn't appear washed out. I wouldn't have complained about the stock camera since it's great, but this looks even better.
I haven't tried many lighting conditions, so it might be worse in some cases. I haven't tried video either, but I noticed an option for image stabilization. I think it's software stabilization, but I wonder if it works in conjunction with OIS. Anyone know?
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk 4
EDIT: I tried a lot more pics, and it turns out that the stock camera is actually more detailed when viewing at 100%. It also is more color accurate. The super camera isn't bad at all though.

exactly. the noise reduction is so high on this phone that the images come out super soft in low light, and even moderate light. quite annoying.

In my opinion, G2 has a much better color capturing. But in few videos G2 did have problem in focusing.
In still shots, G2 > Nexus 5.
yeah the n5 killed the g2 in video. videos on the g2 are just awful compared to every other flagship.

Not only are videos awful, but taking pictures of anything that is moving is terrible. The only thing the G2 camera does well is landscape photos. It's to the point where i am probably going to get rid of it and go to a different device because i use the camera so often. I can't believe in all the G2 commercial they are focus on how good the camera is the whole time. False advertising at it's best.

What video were you guys watching? The G2 was the half on the right. I thought besides some minor focusing issues that both cams exhibited the G2 was better or the same in the various scenarios. With manual focus the G2 could have done much better on the fireworks. I don't know if the My has a similar manual focus.

If your son is not running to and from you the manual focus feature might be for you, also holding down shutter locks the focus for a few seconds to take a few quick shots, there is also a burst mode as well.

There is a sports mode, but that still uses something like 1/6s shutter time when indoors (and in the morning, so not very light). There is also a burst mode, ISO is upped with that one and you get a shutter time of 1/15th...

Nexus 5 video camera simply look horrible in comparison to the G2's: the image sometimes appears too dark with the Nexus 5 to the point that you can't see what's going on (left attached image). Moreover, Nexus 5 picture looks blurry and unfocussed much of the time, and so it's hard to see fine details (right attached image).
G2 wins big time (unless you're blind, I guess...).
It seems that LG ****ed up the Nexus 5 real good (horrible battery life, bad camera, lower quality screen, etc.).

the main problem is the focus, as you've stated. it's constantly trying to focus when it doesn't have to,and clearly the n5 doesn't suffer from this. it looks a little better at that half screen size yeah, but the second you make a 1080p video full resolution, you lose all clarity. it becomes blurry, softened and in lower indoor light pretty much looks like ass. it's not as sharp as it should be, and that's probably lg's awful post processing.

Taking stills out of a video like that isn't really fair, I could do the same to show the G2 fault.
On the first picture look at how the clouds bleed out on the G2 and the N5 have more detail.

I completely agree that taking one frame out if a video is unfair, but I also think after each phone got a chance to adjust properly that the G2 still looks better. There are also several well lit scenes that I couldn't tell a difference.
