Lost signal, strange icon in status bar? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Hey guys... This morning I lost all service and got a strange icon in the status bar. A reboot fixed it, then then again it happened later on today while I was on a call... The call just dropped. Anyone knows what is causing this? Here's the screenshot

It's saying that there's no SIM card installed. The issue could be your SIM card or the worst case scenario is you'll need to hard reset your phone.

That's weird... I was thinking that is what it meant, but i didn't think it would be likely since I've been with T-Mobile for less then a month. Any thoughts on what could cause it? Thanks in advance!!

Just get a new SIM card, that's definitely either a bad SIM card or hardware problem. Phone isn't recognizing the SIM.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium

Just throwing in my 2 cents. It could possibly software related. I flashed dark sence on insertcoin and my phone no longer prepared sim. Tryed it twice with the same results. If you have moded your phone then you should look into that possibility. If your phone is stock then definitely take it back cause you shouldn't have to deal with that.

Same Issue
I am almost positive that I am having the same issues. It started when I flashed to CM10.1 on my T-Mobile HTC One. I loaded the ROM as usual, wipe data, cache etc flash, flash blah blah blah. Anyways not I have connection when I reboot, for about 5 minutes (if I am lucky) then it disappears. I have retried flashing CM10.1 and a couple other roms but still no connection unless I reboot, and I only get it for a couple minutes after that. Any feedback on this?

Went to Target to get my GS2, ended up getting a used one. Kinda pissed.

Its not a huge deal but I got this Galaxy S2 from Target on a 2 year upgrade and these pics came on the phone.
This was used, the EXIF data was form Oct. 6, 2011, over a month ago
This phone didnt come with a 8GB Sim card, which it should. He took the card and returned the phone. Im mad because I paid for a new phone and ended getting some used phone with scratches on the bottom microphone area.
I plugged my phone in and noticed he left this photo on my phone:

Why are they selling used/refurbs and claiming theyre new? Scumbags dude...AT&T wont give me an new one, I have to go through Target again. I dont want another used phone that I dont know about...is there any way to check if its been used again?
Open up the box and check it out? 8gb microsd cards aren't included either. As far as I know, the only things in the box are the phone itself, battery, USB cable, wall plug, and the usual pamphlets/manuals.
Was there plastic on the front and back, and why do you think the gs2 comes with an 8gb card?
Does the pic have a GPS stamp? Go to the guy's house. LOL!
8gig card? It comes with memory built it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
no sd card included. But the pics are definitely optional lol
AT&T will tell you to take it back to Target. I would have brought it back immediately. Take it back and tell them you want a new one. They aren't supposed to be selling returned phones in the first place.

While you're at the store, have them power it up. Then go to settings/about phone. Scroll to bottom and check "uptime". It should say 0. Also, a fresh out of the box SGS2 should load the set up wizard when powered on.

Uptime is just time since last boot, any phone that was off will say basically 0 if you get there fast enough. Had this phone over a month:
If you factory reset the phone in settings you will get the wizard on next boot, but internal SD is not wiped.
Check the vinyl on the screen warning about texting and driving, it should have little to no bubbling, but its near impossible to put back on like that.

Lol sorry guys. I put my old Inspire SD card in the galaxy and forgot it didn't come with its own, so my fault on that one. However the phone came with perfect wrapping and the "don't text and drive" sticker as well as the sticker on the battery cover. It also booted up asking me to sign in my Google account as if the phone was from the factory but that guys face was still loaded onto my phone. The phone was returned and obviously re packaged.
Anyway I got a new phone and its fine

Yes. Tried a few things that I found searching, and nothing has worked. Heard something that it was a Sprint issue.

I have been having issues with adding citi mastercard and prepaid since 12pm also.
Called Citibank and they said nothing looks wrong on their end. Called Google Wallet and he made me run through some stuff, doesn't seem like it worked at all. I wonder if they have an outage or something? I'm using wifi (comcast broadband), and not sprint data, for what it's worth.
So what do you have to do to get the ten dollars on to your account?

you just click add a google prepaid card
every one when you root your device and allow wallet access to root it breaks it. I have tried clearing data, i have not yet found that to work. any one else have a solution to this problem?
I was having this same problem after rooting. I had setup wallet before rooting and cleared all the settings from within wallet before rooting just to be safe.
When I was trying to use it on 3G it was stuck on initializing device. I then switched over to wifi and it worked immediately.
I had this same problem on my phone after unlocking bootloader and rooting.
Check out my thread on Q&A for how i fixed it.

Got it to work and I accidentally gave wallet super user rights.
First, I went to super user the app and revoked super user rights
Second, I went to wallet, settings and cleared it
Third, restarted the app and added google prepaid card. Took less than a minute
I believe activation during the middle of the night helped

I think it was just because everyone and their momma was activating the service yesterday. I retried last night and it worked fairly quickly.
I've never approved su permissions, and mine still says unsupported device, but added my cards fine. Took a few minutes to do so. (About 20 actually)

Well I did eventually get the initializing issue too, but I just rebooted the phone and it didn't happen again. Now the adding cards issue I had happened throughout the whole night. Late in the night, I was able to add the google prepaid card again, but my citi mastercard just will not add. Even right now, it's been sitting at Adding card... for 5+ mins.
I do think it's just people hammering away at google wallet because of new activations.

Selected card was the ten dollar Google card. Never tried my other cards.

Opened Google Wallet, entered pin. Screen on. Tapped. Nothing.
Took out NFC credit card. Tapped. Worked.
Went to another local store. Tried phone. Nothing. Tried credit card. Worked.

it gives a secure element error if secure element is bad, had the same issue with one gas station but it worked just fine at McD's
So you're saying that only the prepaid card isn't working?
Reset it like ten flashes ago.
Never had it tell me i had a problem.
Always flashed a ROM, loaded up wallet, and it asks me to enter a new pin every time i did a flash.
Entered same pin and it loaded up fine
It saves my credit cards every time.

Well it seems to be working if your added credit card is going thru. Maybe try clearing cache and data then adding prepaid card again? Uninstall update and download universal wallet app maybe?
Mine doesn't want to work at certain stores, but it comes on at least. The transaction won't go thru is the only issue I have.

some terminals are connected and working but not properly set up. I went to one gas station everyday for about a week to try to figure out why the terminal wouldn't recognize the phone. The clerk felt bad and put in a service ticket, technician came and told the clerk it needed to be reset and reconfigured. Works fine now, although I found it a bit strange because I know I saw at least one paypass card charged that week
I got an email stating that my Google Prepaid card is set to expire next month. I haven't been able to use my gw. I tried at our local Rite Aid with no success. But who knows if the cashier knew what he was doing.
Maybe I did, maybe I didn't....
Its credit and some systems require the cashier select credit prior to the customer swiping or this case passing the nfc across the reader

Has it been dropped or wet? Have you installed any new app or updated anything before this?
Try pulling the battery, putting it back in, leaving it off. Then press and hold the volume+, home, and power button until the phone boots into recovery and do a factory reset ****CAUTION. ... YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA THAT HAS NOT BEEN BACKED UP VIA SD CARD OR SYNCED TO YOUR SAMSUNG/GOOGLE ACCOUNT ****
hope that helps

it was dropped but in a spigen tough armor case --- perfect condition no visable damage or anything dropped from about 2 feet --- no water damage --- cannot boot into recovery that's why I figured it was hardware however it did boot once into safe mode but I cannot replicate that ---- I'm going to go to T-Mobile after work, think they will replace it under warranty?
Hard to say if it has been dropped. However with no visible damage, something is very well damaged on the inside.
It should be able resist that kind of blow though.
Have you tried to get into download mode?
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
was just able to get into download mode --- then from there i rebooted into recovery and selected reboot... phone booted up normally but now crashed and went back to that snowy screen ---- something is fubar inside there im afraid
Try to get back into recovery and factory reset if you have no other choice.
If you are near a computer you could try to backup the data on there real quick with keis or something, but I doubt it will be able to read your phone if it won't boot. Bleh

Hi Nate,
I have the exact same issue , been like this for a few days now. Not been dropped badly and phone is in a solid cover. I have been to my service provider and they are clueless. Have you been able to get to the bottom of the problem or fix the phone? Thanks. Steve
Sounds like hardware at first. However, never heard of hardware issue causing snowy screen. That sounds more like an app or malware. Be it my first actual encounter with it on android.
If you can get to Odin mode reflash the tar file, that will at least clear out any system partition issues. Also will flash stock recovery. Then I'd try getting into stock recovery to wipe data.
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
The screen connector is the culprit.. As it's supposed to touch only the side break fix of the circuit... It's the small opening or power inlet socket where you charge the phone.. The technician repair should rectify it..I got this game problem a few days ago.. Researched and found that this was the main culprit for this particular white fuzzy distorted
screen
solution?

This can be caused by a handful of reasons...
The following YouTube video may work for you.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2tzUkX8SQ4
If not, then it's either:
1) Defective/Faulty LCD Display Assembly.
2) A bad Connection between the LCD Ribbon to the Mainboard/Motherboard.
3) Defective/Faulty Mainboard/Motherboard itself.
That's the best I can provide you as I don't physically have your device.
The following link does have various Guides/Tutorials regarding almost anything for the Galaxy S5 device that may come in handy for you.

Fingerprint recognition seems much better. You have to redo it after update therefore it seems they changed something there.
Looks that wifi has larger battery consumption, maybe have to do a factory reset somewhere today.

I had previously defined 4 fingers for fingerprint reader so after the update those were gone and I could only re-define 1 new finger. Also had issues storing a new wifi password.
Ended up resetting the phone and all is well now.
Does updating remove the root from the phone if you have it rooted?

5% battery drain in 6 six hours! Wow!
This has fixed my FP delayed unlock issue! Could not be happier right now! Battery life however not tested yet as I've had to reinstall all the apps which is killing it... Here's hoping 5% battery drop in 6 hrs is true! Well done devs!

It comes as a zip?! Don't you need to revert back to stock & then search for update in settings? (About phone menu)
I had to factory reset for the last one to work, thought this one might install. I'm not rooted and using elephone stock ROM. So I shouldn't need a factory reset by rights.

I had the same problem of the message "corrupted update.zip" at the time of reboot. In an other forum someone mentioned that one has to remove the SD-card and put the SIM in to that position. It is actually enough to pull out the tray with the SIM and SD card and to (re-)initiate the update. I do not know why but it seems that at time of startup the update.zip is searched for at the wrong location if a SD card is inserted. After that the update process worked fine for me and up to now, there was no need to do a factory reset. BTW Fingerprint unlock works fine and battery life seems to be improved indeed.
So just pop out the tray with the phone running and then install the update?

Well more or less... You should obviously go for the safe eject function for the SD-card in the storage settings, switch the phone off, pop out the tray, reboot, go to the update settings an then initiate the update... that worked for me.
Looking like a factory reset after all. Installed the update but FP scanner not playing fair. Can't add prints until I delete some but can't get to them.
