I think thats the only method for our XT910 till now, make sure you have istalled the latest drivers to the laptop you are using, and when you start virtual box and connect you phone just give it some time before to recognize it before you start the process.

A while back I rooted and installed safestrap recovery on my razr but never got around to installing a custom ics rom, and now my phone is unable to update to ics. So basically all I need is a little help getting pointed in the right direction to getting ICS on my razr.
Do you have xt912 or xt910?
With the xt910 (gsm) you can rsd lite with ics fastboot or update.zip
Evening you need can be found in the development section

Just like marconz said, I would recommend that you upgrade it using any fastboot images for your device, found here.
Please note that for most fastboot firmwares, you won't be able to downgrade your phone after upgrading it.

I updated my razr xt910 to jellybean 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU yesterday and I'm searching for how to root it.
I tried this root program found at the following link but unlucky, without success.
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...ows-razr-blade-droid-razr-41-jb-root-exploit/
Apparently this program maybe for xt912 only.
Is there anyone who did successfully root xt910 jellybean EU?
Thanks for reading my post.

I am in the same situation... I tried everything possible ... but not luck until now....Most exploit are for xt912 jb or xt910 under ics nothing for xt910.. It s quite frustrating not being able to root it
the system version of 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU is the ICS version, heres the link of how-to video

I could only confirm, that if you already updated to JB then "there is no known way to get root access at the moment" for European XT910 :/

No, this is not possible, because you need root to backup root, and you can't restore it from other device to yours, you don't have such permissions on your device.
Use this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257137

I want up to EU or USA.
You'll have to erase cid to flash eu or usa there's plenty of info on how to , i recommend using bmm for this task.

I recommend upgrading to jb eu
You'll need to root your device
Instal bmm
Erase cid
Rsdlite to ics en.eu
Root device again
Update su binaries
Temp unroot
Instal jb update..
That's a brief desription , i strongly recommend reading the forums first .

That's because there is no such tutorial
Have you considered installing bmm and using jb on second system only?

And it's dangerous. I'm lost in a problem that I forgot to wipe my CID while was trying to do the same thing: RET-Brazil -> RET-EU
Now my device is bricked and I'm trying to solve this problem before going to sleep.

BRICKED
You should backup your CID before erase it to somewhere safe like in your PC or sdcard, because the CID is unique identifier for every phone. You will need it someday when you want flash the original ROM back.

If u dont know how to do, I advise you to be patient and wait, because JB is coming to Brazil soon

Same thing happened here
Yesterday i was trying to apply the JB EU on my XT910 (from Vivo here in Brazil) and the phone got bricked 3x times.. haha. I sucessfully restored it to the factory defaults using bmm (restoring my CID that i previously backed up) and flashing the retail en br!
I think that my flash failed because i erased my CID after i flashed to the JB kernel and the 4.1.2 EU. I'll try it again in some days and post my results!

Soi buyed an used RAZR XT910. Sadly the pre owner updated the device to JB stock. So this is an European device... I have searched and there is nothing useful so I need Linux or something. Tried razorguys method to downgrade to ICS but all I got afterwards is a droid with a red exclamation mark. Any help?
Thanks in advance
