Hey everyone. I'm hoping that someone can help me out.
I rooted my daughter's YP-G70 without issue and then tried to install a custom rom. It appeared to go okay but upon reboot, it just hangs at the Samsung logo and then reboots again about 5-10 seconds later in a loop at that point. I searched around and tried to restore to a stock rom including the PIT file using ODIN but that hasn't worked (even though is says that it completed successfully).
My other daughter's YP-G70 is still a completely stock ROM. Is there a guide somewhere that I could take a full backup of her Player 5.0, ODIN it over to the soft bricked player so that I can then just do a data wipe and have it back to stock?

I guess you could still flash a custom kernel with CWM, then do a nandroid backup and restore that backup over the soft-bricked device. It could work.
You might want to try wiping data via recovery after flashing the rom.
For some reason, Odin didn't work for me either. I had to factory restore it with Heimdall.

The one that Meticulus posted (http://www.4shared.com/rar/XkZ-pDCc/...EKI8_MIN.html?) in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2361763
-Add the pit file from the "Flash" tab (top)
-Change the partition name "FactoryFS"
-Click "Browse" (top)
-Add the previous pit file that you just added (bottom) (ignore the message that pops up)
-Click on "Start"
After that, it should boot and everything should be fine (and nothing was wiped, may I add). You may want to add recovery, too.
Like I told the OP where I posted that file. You should boot into recovery mode and do some wiping!

Very strange problem with Galaxy Tab 10.1, was behaving very strangely so I figured I would root and install custom rom for better performance.
Problem is that CWM will not install (read all of the tutorials, have rooted Samsung phone / Xoom tablet with no issue). Odin flashes yellow but when I go back to recovery mode it is still the standard one.
I figured I would do a hard factory reset (tried both via settings and stock recovery) which doesnt reset anything? Upon reboot after reset tablet is just how it was before? I have tried deleting accounts and upon reboot they are back? Its like its write protected or something, anyone know what I can try?
Note if I copy a file onto the internal memory (custom rom), upon reboot it disappears....
Its because you hav rooted nd installed cwm...therefore factory reset via honeycomb does not format the tablet....use the below link (step by step method) to restore ur tab to factory condition and den try to flash cwm first using odin pda mode and den root using cwm....
http://www.teamovercome.net/p7500/?page_id=5
Go down in the above page to "re-stocking yer system" nd use the guide...
After flashing a stock frmware with odin using the above method...ur tab might want a passwrd etc...after booting up...Turn the tab off...nd den boot into the recovery...den wipe system..cache etc....nd reboot...this should solve your problem....
Thank you I will try. If I have flashed CWM why cant I boot into it?

In which step did you face this problem...??
---------- Post added at 02:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 PM ----------
Did u make it sure to re partition using the pit file..?? http://www.mediafire.com/?kkq5k6q1joblq98
Also make sure dat wen u hav chosen a pit file the repartition box is checked...den select the PDA file...(the stock rom) nd click on start...after flashing completes....reboot tab into recovery nd wipe data cache etc....
First of all finish re stocking ur tab...den post if ur successful...den move on to rooting nd cwm....
Follow every step carefully...dont miss a single thing...
Here is what I get:
The tab is NOT rooted, I checked.
I cannot do a factory data reset at all, the tablet works fine but any changes I make to it go away upon reboot, someone has to know how to fix this??
Have you tried different stock ROMs or just the one? I remember flashing one of the earlier ROMs and as part of the process, it nuked the whole thing, might be worth getting one of the first ROMs from Samfirmware and see if one of those helps you out more than the one you have currently.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk
Which Tab r you using..?? the P7500 or the wifi only P7510...??? Make sure u'r using the correct rom...if u hav the P7500 then the rom u've used is not the correct one...also do try some other roms from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=3&o=1&m=GT-P7500&r=1#regiona But u need to sign up there to download roms....Best of luck..
I have the P7510 and I have tried numerous different firmwares but it will not write ANYTHING at all, is there anything else I can try?
Please forgive me for asking this, but you "are" putting the tab into download mode when you try to use Odin aren't you?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
Yes I have it in download mode.
For reference, if I go to stock recovery and try to factory reset, it doesnt work. If I try to firmware upgrade with Kies it doesnt work. Its like the thing is stuck in its current state and nothing can change it.
It boots up, it works, it just always boots to the same state (doesnt recognize any apps or changes made prior to reboot).
Will it do any good to drain the battery (is there any memory that will clear if I leave the battery dead for a few hours / days)??
when you flashed CWM through ODIN, did you extract the .tar file first, or did you try and flash it as an .md5?
Have tried both .tar and .tar.md5, same result.
Realize that my using Odin did not cause the issue, the issue existed prior to me ever messing with it, I was going to root and flash a custom rom in the hopes of solving the issue.
I had also faced problems like dese...but everytime restocking via odin was successful....dont know why odin is not not able to flash the firmware in ur specific case...
Is there by any chance an app in the app drawer named "Factory Test" or "Factory Mode"?
pbiancardi, were you able to install a custom recovery? I am experiencing the exact same problems as you.
The device is not able to ODIN properly and any files uploaded to the root of the device folder is erased after a reboot.
Bump bump.
this is a perplexing issue. None of the brilliant xda minds can figure this one out?
Same problem
hello, im having the same problem and i tried everything i could find on the web flashing new roms, wiping data from system and recovery and when it boots it restores everything.
but mine also freezes if i dont turn off wifi when it boots up
have you solved this problem please?

Hey friend,
I doubt that the pit file you are having is for p7500 model and the rom you are installing is for p7510 model. I think that mismatch is causing problem.
When I looked at the screenshot I found p4 at the end of pit file's name. And all the p4 files I have seen so far, are for p7500(3g) model.
So I suggest you to download any stock rom from sammobile.com and then just select file in PDA tab in Odin. Don't touch any other thing in Odin and repartition should be unchecked by default. Now just flash it this way with tab in downloading mode and this should install stock rom successfully.
Now if u have rooted before and installed cwm recovery before then flash stock recovery by Odin with same method without touching other things.
After that when ur tab boots up normally go to settings and then factory reset. This should erase everything. Even your user data.
Hi all,
I've been having a few issues with my S2 (Randomly resetting, freezing, etc) - so I decided to do a factory reset - but it hasn't worked.
When I turn my phone on, it wont go past the galaxy logo. I've tried holding down VOLUME UP, POWER, and HOME - but it doesn't boot it into recovery mode.
I've downloaded odin (the phone is rooted) and was told to download a new ROM and then use the PDA button on odin. But the only file type it expects is MD5, tar and SMD. Whenever I download a ROM, I just get a ZIP?
I'm probably being stupid. Could someone point me in the right direction? I don't care if I lose data, I just want the phone working.

What ROM do you want to flash?
If it's a stock ROM, then extract the zip file and flash the contained tar/md5 file with Odin.
If it is a custom ROM and only provided as CWM-flashable zip file, then use a stock ROM to flash first and flash the custom ROM afterwards, when everything works again.
Here you can get the latest stock ROMs => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487, or pre-rooted stock ROMs from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071, or use Check Fus Downloader from here => http://fus.nanzen.se/ to check for the latest officiallly released firmware versions for your phone in your region and download it directly from Samsung servers.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I don't care which ROM I use - As long as I get the phone working again. I did download 7comp ROM but I couldn't find any .tar files?
I also converted the ZIP to a TAR but odin isn't picking it up ?!
OK - I've downloaded and installed the latest stock ROM you posted.
It seems to have installed, but doesn't go past the splash screen which says samsung galaxy Sii
Any ideas?
[EDIT] - Phone fixed. I was able to load it into recovery mode and cleared cache. woo
Well done ...now try to go on recovery mode ...if should be able to go....do full wipe...then clear delvik cache...then advance- fix permission ..
Then reboot system ....you are done...
Don't forget to say thanks..

Attempted to root the phone but it didn't work.
I followed a set of instructions, and was asked to wait for the phone to reboot. It now has the "!" rooted icon but won't go past the rooted screen.
System restore and clearing cache doesn't set it back to factory default. Any ideas?

Sorry for late reply. I followed a video on youtube showing you how to root the phone. It looked succesfull as the "!" did appear, but it wouldn't go past that.
So I rolled it back using the original ROM and have given up on rooting it. It's a shame as I really liked Jelly Bean

Hi,
I tried to root (first time) my S3 using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1703488
My S3 is the international version: GT-I9300.
I followed all the steps, except for one bit. In the prompts, I could not find the exact version of my S3. The guide said to use the closest one so I did. My build is JRO03C UBDLJ1 but I used number 9 (see guide photo 2). All went well until my phone won't reboot anymore. Odin and the root application says that everything is fine, except my S3 is stuck at the boot screen (Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 with black screen). I can still get into Download or Recovery modes. How do I fix this?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'll try that tomorrow since it's already past midnight here where I live. Is there any way to turn the phone off? Cos it just keeps on rebooting up everytime I close it. Or is it okay if I just leave it on the boot screen. Will the battery run out?
simple take the battery out
in cwm
Delete cache, dalvik cache and it should boot! If it refuses flash stock and it will boot normally again!
I Think You Should Check This checkrom.com/threads/resurrection-odin-checkrom-evohd™-v4.896/
Please Report If It Worked
OK I managed to get this thing back working finally. What I did was flash it back to a stock ROM. I couldn't find my original version but close enough, except this version, 4.1.1 doesn't seem to be available (but thats not a big deal).
Now I'm too scared to try root it again lol...
And thanks for all the suggestions!!!
Follow up question:
Root attempt 2 = successful
I tried to install CyanogenMod 10 (via Odin). Except the device got stuck in the CyanogenMod spinning boot screen. Restored it via backup for now. Any idea why this is happening?

I remember it takes some time for everything to load first time, maybe 5 or 10 minutes, also I think it`s better to use cwm to flash custom roms! just use odin for root and stock roms!
just move the file on the sdcard and boot in cwm,let it do his thing and then wait a bit!

Hello,
well, i'm beginner in all the android custom stuff but yesterday, I wanted to try jelly bean on my galaxy tab 10.1 wifi version.
So I've installed a rom custom with this tuto androidauthority.com/galaxy-tab-10-1-wifi-p7510-paranoid-android-2-custom-rom-114133/
But i'm not satisfied with it and i want to go back on the previous version I had : official ICS.
So i've a question : are the firmware (download on sammobile for exemple) simply updates or complete ROM that we can install on our devices?
In both cases, i would like to find a way to get back an official rom...:crying:
Can you help me please?
First rule of Android modding. Always make a backup in recovery. If you had you could just boot to recovery and restore the backup. To answer your question the firmware downloads from sammobile are indeed fully stock roms. They are designed to be flashed with Odin (.tar.md5 files) flash them in Odin the same way you flashed a recovery, point to the .tar file with PDA slot in Odin.

Tanks for reply,
Actually, I did a backup before, like the tuto said, but when i want to restore, i've an error during the restauration of the data so it stop and don't restore.
And like you said, I've flashed the file from sammobile with Odin and the installation seems to work but when I reboot in normal mode, I'm stuck at the Samsung logo screen.
So do you know a way to reinstall proprely an official ICS ROM, even if I have to format my tablet?
thanks for help

After downgrading, it's a good idea to wipe data/factory reset from whatever recovery you have (stock or CWM). Factory reset may resolve this.
Note that the first boot after an installation is slow.. the logo screen stays around for several minutes if I remember right.

I waited like 10 minutes ^^ :silly:
I had an costume ROM installed, but at one point, while trying to change the recovery it bricked, and I just received errors like "Messenger has stopped" for every sing app (even system) and the screen all blacked, then I reinstalled the costume ROM again, but it got worse, cause I could only see a black screen, and had to remove the battery. So I decided to go back to the original recovery and installed the original, official ROM, and when I installed it appeared "Unfortunately System UI has stopped" every second, so I wiped the data in the original recovery mode and it worked, but now it appears the message: "Unauthorized actions have been detected" and it asks to restart my phone, that message is appeared all the time too. How do I get rid of it?
And the boot when i turn the device on is still the one from the ROM Note 7 style (white), how do I change that to?
If you still have TWRP installed you can try this method to change boot logo.
For the other problem try to use your last working backup, if it won't work - wipe everything and then flash original image throught Odin.

I guess, I will need to install TWRP again, and do that to change the boot logo;
I never had a backup, so should I wipe everything again (In TWRP?) And then install the original ROM throught Odin again?
To be sure wipe everything including internal storage - recovery and download mode will remain, everything else will be lost so make a backup of important files. Download latest firmware from Sammobile and flash it through Odin (search for SamFirm on xda to download faster). That should do the work.
