Hi,
I've been around the new developer's thread regarding zzmove governor, but, besides the fact that anyone can find the updated governors, I haven't been able to understand some things:
1. How to install it?
2. Do we need a separate kernel running with it?
3. Which kernel works better with zzmove?
4. Best profiles depending on different usage types?
Thanks in advance.

zzmove comes in a kernel. You have to flash a kernel with the governor compiled into it. Then you change the default governor using apps like "Set CPU" or something the developer of the kernel may recommend (Like another app).
The answer was in this thread: [REF] Understanding the basics before rooting your S3 (GT-i9300/i9305)
Questions 3 and 4 are impossible to answer. Experiment
I'm running yank kernel with zzmove. It depends on the kernel if it supports zzmove

Your thread title suggests its a Q&A thread for CPU Governor ZZMove .
Its not its your question .

My SGA is on GB 2.3.6 (Russian ROM) and I have installed No-Frills CPU, but I am not able to use it to full potential. The Developer says I need some custom Kernels for this.
Which Kernels are these? Is it ok to use diff kernels?
what do u mean by "full potential"?
afaik for changing cpu scaling freq, cpu governor or changing disk io scheduler, u can do it even on stock kernel. maybe the selection is a little bit less, but it'll definitely works.
i dont know if cpufrills can also change cpu voltage, even so we dont have any kernel that support cpu voltage changing yet.
You might have seen No-Frills cpu, but few users are getting more governors than me using some diff kernel.
anyways, I want some other way, so that my cpu cuts down frequency really down when phone is locked, and jump up accoring to requirement. (Just like Cool'n quiet in AMD)
then u might wanna install cfroot kernel. it contain smartassv2 and interactiveX that do have automatic cpu down scaling when screen off.
but u can also set up profile to do it manually on other governors using setcpu.
What about the kernel by squadzone supposedly optimised for gingercruzt but it works for cm7 and has 6 IO schedulers, but cf-root is best for stock

no, it wont affect root as it also give root.
and just use clockworkmod recovery to create backup of ur whole rom. and if u just wanna restore kernel use the advance restore to restore just the kernel itself

Hey, I'm using ICS Final and I only have the InteractiveX and normal Interactive options but not the smartassV2. Where can I get it? I'm using the Smartass governor out of all of them. What is the difference between the two? (V1 & V2)
Thanx a lot for all the info mate. Can u just help me find one appropriate for my phone?

Install zImage-Mod v1.0 (you can find it in the Development Section).
Hi all,
I am using Vasishta's ICS ROM and I am in search of a kernel that includes both Wifi and SmartassV2. Reason for wanting SmartassV2 is because of it's smoothness and batterylife. But I can't find a kernel that's capable of both. These are my search&test results:
FXP 132/FXP133Only interactive of on demand govenors
Wifi is fine.kCernel v3 (I tried this kernel with and without Wifi modules)Lots of governors!
No wifi.Fera 1.8 (good changelog on his tread!)SmartassV2 is there!
No wifi.AOKP (Championswimmer released this one specifically to test a wifi fixIt has 4 governors, including SmartassV2.
No wifi.
A bit strange, because on Champ's AOKP i got wifi working with 'm6'-ROM.
Reading up on this thread i think the missing Wifi has something to to with 'just' a wrong wifi module (ar600 vs. ???).
Maybe I am overlooking something.
So my question is: Does anyone know a of a kernel that i can use?
If I need to do some tweaking to make a kernel work (eg. use other Wifi modules), than please guide me in the right direction. I am not expierenced in compling, but changing files, permissions, etc. is no problem. My guess is that Fera's kernel or Champs kernel can be modifed to accomplish what i want.

Hi there friend, first of all why do you want the smartassv2 governor?, xperia s ics is based on cm9 and you have to use the fxp132 kernel, kernel is made by fxp team and it suits the rom well, you dont need smartassv2 governor in order to have a great rom. trust me!, these developers (FXP) does exactly know what they are doing.. press thanks button if i helped you. cheers!! :good:
take note, there is kernel kitchen made by championswimmer if you want to modify some kernels and make that governor added in your custom ics kernel.. have a good day friend!

Thank you Kaito_Kuroba and my apologies for my late reaction.
I found answers and i notice there is still al lot of developemen going on.
I've no doubt that there are good kernels. nonetheless, You said it wisely that FXP know what they are doing. I haven't got those skills, so why would i question their choices and want something else.
Thanks for this 'reminder'.
Too bad i can't make time to create this hobby. I've got the right education to do development, programmaing and so on.
My familylife and work doesn't give me enough time to be working in this hobby.

here is a good kernel:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867817
for wifi. you should do a fullwipe....
These are without question the absolute best CM9 kernels available:
For basically stock speeds - http://www.mediafire.com/?7waaqnrui676onj
For overclock to 1.228 GHz - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?yi0enn6sjxww3pd
Both have Smartass v2 and WiFi working perfectly. And everything; connections,WiFi, deep sleep just plain functions well. The first is faster per clock cycle but still can't match the performance gain of the extra 200 MHz available in the second.
Thank you all guys!
I am aware of Amin his kernels. I started the thread about two months ago. At that time there wasn't a kernel that was capable of both wishes.
Since then a lot has happened and been developed.
My question is answered and no longer relevant.
Thank you all. Thread can be closed.

What's the best CPU governor for GT-i9300?
Following are the CPU governors available:
1) ondemand
2) userspace
3) powersave
4) pegasusq
5) performance
Im looking for fast speed (ie no lag) and good battery life. Thanks!
Its up to you to try them all or read the relevant threads .

lulzactiveq will help to your needs. To get this option you have to flash a kernel with this governor.
I am using Googy Max Kernel with this governor. Boeffla Kernel, Siyah Kernel also have this governor.
ZZmove for me in Boeffla kernel, you get a choice of profiles, battery, performance etc

Hello. sorry if it has been already posted, but I want only "up-to-date" answers.
I have some questions:
1. Which is the best governor to use ( for this kernel ) for a balance between battery and performance ( I use lulzactive right now, I heard that it's very good for a balance between those two but it seems like ondemand is doing a lot better when it comes to battery life )
2. I don't mind OC'ing the CPU but the GPU yes. I want to play games such as Real Racing 3 with acceptable FPS, so I need a boost for the GPU. What settings to use here?
Thanks.
Ondemand and row.
Don't know what governor does Siyah have, but you need to try out "cfq" scheduler with "slp" governor.I think only Apolo kernel has that.
what do you mean by 'row' ?
@GamingDj siyah kernel governors:
ondemand
pegasusq
lulzactive
lulzactiveq
conservative
Scheduler row
Gov ondemand
Andrew is right...from these Row with ondemand is the best. Are you on Stock ROM 4.1.2? If so,then I recommend you trying out Apolo.Maybe extreme v0 or Regular.
Thanks.
I may try thoses ROM but I enjoy the stock ROM, I would change it just for better performance in gaming ( and as I know, the ROM's aren't for that )
edit: oops Apolo is a kernel.. well, as I know, the Siyah Kernel is the best for this phone, isn't it?
but still: no overclock settings for the GPU?

I think dorimanx is the best. It's siyah based and updated alot by a cracking dev
i may give it a try. let's hope it's better.
If you like stock then you should try out alliance or biftor ect ect. These are custom stock roms that work lovely and if you mix it up with a little dorimanx you end up with a kick ass phone. Not to put down Apollo kernel as that is really good for battery but Dori is better for tuning cpu/gpu ov/uv.

With siyah kernel flashed in ur phone u get an app called extweaks or stweaks. This app too was developed by gokhan moral. U can go to GPU tab and change the GPU frequency step. Be careful and don't go beyond 400mhz. It may heat up your phone very much. I use this settings for increasing the smoothness of the phone. And one more thing. Gradually increase the steps.Don't keep the 1st step as 300 or 400. I recommend 160 or 200.

hmm.. i really want to try dorimanx, but, can i flash it over the siyah or i have to somehow delete siyah first?
is the stock ROM that bad? i see that you insist changing it.. as i said: i would change the ROM only if it has performance improvements ( in games, because the stock ROM is doing pretty good in others ) but as I know ROM's aren't for gaming.
@santhosh502 i know it's all about the frequencies. but i need all of the steps. not just the first one. what are you using?

Just remember that siyah is for stock and not cm/aokp roms. Dorimanx is for both. 8.xx is stock and custom and 9.xx is for custom only.
I use siyah kernel. But u can download stweaks in play store too. The link for steps is here. Be careful as ur hands might get burned. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657491
I understand that you can use siyah with cm/aokp but not supported by dev. Dorimanx is a much safer bet for stability

And.. what do you think about CM ROM? Is it worth trying?
Q&A for [KERNEL][Apolo JB 4.14,New 7.1][SAMMY ROMS and AOSP]

How to built my own version
This kernel is wonderful. But if the among of apps grows up, the system will become slowly and stucky. I want to add zram and memory merge support for this kernel. However, I don't know what to use that source that posted on github for doing this. Apolo 7.1 seems doesn't have a kernel repository, but just a init repository? What should I do? I am new in making kernel. Thanks.
My huge thanks to the developers of this amazing Kernel. I really appreciate your work. It works perfect with NeatRom 8 ! Thank you.
Apolo Kernel Config
Hey guys I'm using KK Neatrom V8.0st with KERNEL Apolo_7.1_CM_Regular. What is the best of scheduler/governor for this rom?
Apolo voltage versions - I still don't understand
Ok, I've read OP and searched relevant replies and I still don't get what's the real difference between particular Apolo voltage versions and the difference between flashing another version and just setting corresponding voltage presets in configurator app.
So, there are CPU, GPU and "internals" voltages. In Regular and Extreme GPU and internal are set to -50mV (according to OP), so there is no difference in these. The only difference seems to be in CPU voltages - which can easily be set in app. Where is the catch?
Yesterday I also made an interesting investigation (maybe relevant to this question). I had an issue with wifi not working with Apolo/NeatRom combination. Apolo Regular worked fine but Extreme V0 didn't, other conditions being absolutely equal. I can understand that lower voltage may lead to certain parts of the SoC not working properly. But again - the internal voltages are the same in Reg and V0. (This problem was solved by clean reflash of ROM and kernel.)
Edit: OK, I now read the OP one more time and found Voltages PDF. This explains everything....
