At least for me, the hardware button is more than enough accidental turn on protection. Is there anyway to turn off slide to unlock?
When I had my Droid, I remember there were several methods available to do this; but I don't remember what any of them were called or if they are compatible. I know that GoLocker (the GO lock screen replacement) is NOT compatible, at least when installed through the Market.
Try the No Lock app from the market.
After setting up a security pin I have no slide to unlock on my device. I hit a button it asks for the pin i set i type it in and it goes straight to whatever was last on screen without asking me to slide to unlock,
To repro:
1. Run some app like Terminal that runs in the 'background'.
2. Power off screen.
3. Power on screen.
4. Press the taskbar.
5. Press the app notification.
Tablet is now unlocked...
On the plus side, this is does not happen when using other than 'slide' for lock.
Some might call this a 'feature', but it seems more like a bug... (or a very untested feature).

A little reminder to you, the only thing Slide protects your tablet from is your unborn kids.
It is not a 'some might call this a feature' thing, tablet simply considers user navigating notification menu just as valid 'unlock' act as Slide itself is. As it should.
The odds of getting unlocked is much greater via an accidental press of a notification then using the slider.
Like I said, it might try to be a feature, but it fails...
I don't know how big your notification-bar is... but the chance that you press one of those buttons in the corner is minimal...
Well I dont see much use of a slide to unlock screen on a tablet anyway since I have no clue how you can accidentally turn the TFP on... It's not like you have that thingy in your pocket...

You have to do a lot more than just accidentally press a notification. First of all, your Prime screen needs to be turned ON first, which means you need to accidentally press the really-difficult-to-accidentally-press power button. Then you need to touch corner of the screen not once, but twice in very specific locations (first to open the notification menu and then click on one of the buttons.
Slide unlock is entirely meant for phones, where the chance of accidentally turning on the phone in pocket is more likely. On a tablet it is just a beautiful startup screen that - until Android starts supporting user accounts - is nothing more than that.
Go to security and change from slide to pattern or password if you want a more secure lock. I think that the notification panel only gets past the slide unlock.
The method with slide to unlock is redundant and annoying. How to remove slide to unlock?
I'm in the same boat.. every time I try to turn on fingerprint unlock, I still have to slide to unlock.. I'm missing something here..
I don't get it. When you have finger print as your unlock method there is no slide to unlock. They are mutually exclusive, you can't have both.

I have experienced the Slide to Unlock screen when I have a paired bluetooth device that I have listed as trusted. I think this is what these guys are talking about, and it is annoying. I wish it would just unlock to the home screen.
I think you should upgrade to latest firmware, i never got slide to unlock screen when i use finger screen function!
Look attachment!
Sent from my SM-G925F using XDA Free mobile app
Slide to unlock shows when you use the smartlock feature to keep your phone unlocked. It's there to prevent you from butt dialing someone.
Go to secure lock settng > secure lock time and set it to instant.
That way every time u lock your phone it will ask for finger print and will unlock right away

This man probably has it, your phone will not go to the lockscreen when fingerprint security is checked unless you enabled trusted devices and are near one. It should in that case simply go to the home screen as it does on most devices when similar schemes are enabled but it instead switches to swipe to unlock making the whole thing not only pointless but more work then never enabling trusted devices at all.
Its either a bug or stupidity, hopefully they get it changed.
Make sure you don't have any trusted bluetooth devices set up. If you do, you'll always have to swipe whether fingerprint authentication is enabled or not.
Aha!

Ha- that actually does work as a workaround, but sorry... What I want (and think OP is after) is to just turn off the swipe.
If the phone if unlocked, show me the home screen.
I want to take the risk of the buttdial!
Use case- pick up unlocked phone, press the side button, see home screen. Not swipe to get to home screen.
Don't know if that's a feature request or a rant or just a bit of both.

I tried to use No Lock Home module for Xposed instead of built in Smart Lock. But it doesn't eliminate Swipe to Unlock either.
I had my S6 set up to just require a pattern to unlock. Worked fine for the first 6 months I owned it. But since I allowed Samsung to upgrade my software, a swipe is needed before it will allow a pattern unlock. This happened to my wife's phone too. Thanks for the ****ing annoying "upgrade" Samsung.
This is supposed to be a standalone device.
Great.
Wheres the security then???
Could someone please come up with a lockscreen (pattern / pin etc) for the Gear S
Just thinking aloud. The security is the pin when not connected to the phone. The phones' security and lock screen are in the systemui.apk which I don't even know exists for this device. I guess you would have to alter either one of the clock/home screen's code or alter the already installed disconnect pin, or a stand alone app that has root access. That would be cool for swipe, pattern, or even lock effects, but that's way above my pay grade. I love this watch and hope more development starts up. Just opinions.

I know right... this is a great watch with such scarce development for it.
It is a standalone device so it needs it's own security because i'll be using it without a phone soon. I'll need something to secure it but it seems the only way it can happen is if I learn the SDK and all that stuff which I just do not have time for and no experience with.

Not even an option at this point if you have an AT&T version
I also need a lockscreen not for security, simply because my clothes press accidentaly buttons and sometimes starts phone calls or mess up other things... please make a simple lockscreen so when i touch the screen from "screensaver watch" i must do a specific action to go to homescreen
I use the "do not disturb" on my S to lock the screen
Just one swipe down and one click on the chekbox.
I'm hoping this is an easy settings fix. I've searched online and in settings without success.
I have a pattern screenlock and use smart unlock. If the phone is in an unlocked state (because of smart unlock or a recent unlock) and I open the dual screen, it still shows a lock screen that I have to swipe away. Is there any setting (other than removing a lock altogether) that would enable activity as soon as I open the dual-screen, without having to swipe away the lock screen?
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried the Smart Lock options?
You can keep it unlocked while you have certain devices connected like a smartwatch or wifi signal.
Thanks! I actually am using smart lock. The device is unlocked, but I still have to swipe the lockscreen away, although I don't have to enter my pattern. I was hoping there would be a away to simply open the cover and, if it is already smart unlocked, that it would just pick up where I left off instead of having to swipe first.
