Hey guys, so I'm new here and I was just wondering if it was possible to flash a KDZ for the p760 to a p769 phone? It would be really helpful. Thanks!

Do you know how I can get clockworkmod or any other recovery on it? I really need cyanogenmod because of a problem with the software on my phone.

I've tried the L9 recovery installer. Matter of fact, I tried everything that they have to offer. I'm on the Jellybean firmware and my bootloader is already unlocked so I don't need that. When I try rebooting into recovery, it either boots regularly or shows me the dead android screen if you know what I'm talking about.

if it's unlocked then you should know that flashing p760 kdz will make your touch screen mirrored and touch wonky. The L9 recovery installer will install a bootstrapped recovery. to flash proper cwm you will need nandroid manager from the market or flash it via fastboot.

Sorry, I'm new to Android development. However, what should I do after I get Nandroid Manager?
Use this. It's really easy.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358130
P.S. I tried with Nandroid Manager (with already unlocked bootloader) but without success...

All it does is reboot my phone and then says "waiting for device" in the cmd window
EDIT: Is it possible to flash a p760 recovery to a p769? will anything happen?

Look if you have jellybean then use this one for cwm
https://mega.co.nz/#!OBdmCL7b!VrB86gfUntpi8wt8jb-vnCJFCvMV4zMsZYF2LZ8lLWc
When it reboots wait for the flashing lights then press volume down. Good luck!

can I use a p760 version of cwm to flash to p769?
I don't know if it's compatible. When I had the optimus T P509,I used the P500 cwm and it worked just fine.

Okay, so I successfully got CWM but now when I try installing a ROM it says
"assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "p769" I I getprop("ro.build.product") == "p769"
etc. etc.
i looked it up and it said i needed to update cwm, but is there a way I can do that through clockworkmod itself?
It looks like you are trying to install a ROM with a different version on it. You need to find a ROM that is made for your phone.

Hello everybody and welcome to my second guide for how to get root, unlocked bootloader, CWM, and finally installing the roms for our precious LG optimus L5! (e610,12 and 17)
Let's start!
If you are still on android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich, follow my other guide: ICS GUIDE
ALL in one!
So for rooting Jellybean i haven't found a proper root method yet, so that means we are going to flash a pre-rooted kdz file!
In this case this pre-rooted kdz file also contains unlocked bootloader and CWM so this is much easier.
1. Download kdz updater (attatched below)
2. Be sure to first install msxml.msi or else you will get crash during the update process.
3. Download the all in one kdz file, this contains firware version 20D Baltic with root, unlocked boot and CWM recovery. (comes in all languages)
4. Make a backup of your phone, contacts etc. (optional)
5. Once you downloaded everything, take your phone out of your pocket and turn it off.
6. Hold the "-" volume button and connect your phone with your pc (make sure you have all the drivers installed)
7. Now your phone should be in emergency/download mode
8. Now we are going to install the new firmware, open up KDZ_updater.exe and set the type to: 3GQCT and phone mode to DIAG
select the kdz file you just downloaded (20d+root + cwm.kdz) and click "launch software update".
9. KDZ updater will probably crash, this is normal, that means that it is finished the last code you will see is something like "wparam: 100"
10.If everything went well your phone should reboot and launch in the new firmware. Download "superuser" from Playstore.
When your phone is bricked you can just follow these steps again to unbrick your device.
Installing custom roms
1. Download the custom rom you want and place it on you phone. (Preferred on external SD card)
2. To install custom roms you have to go into CWM (clock work mod). you can enter CWM by going into terminal and type "su" and then "reboot recovery" OR turn your device off, then press volume"-" + home button + power button until it vibrates and shows LG logo then release only power button and keep pressing both of the others for about 8 seconds then release.
3. While you are in CWM you can navigate with the + and - volume buttons and the power button is enter.
4. Before you install any new rom, wipe everything from your phone by going to "mounts and storage menu" --> format /cache, /data and /media, /system, /sdcard, then wipe the dalvik cache under the advanced tab. If you don't do this you can get problems!
So now you can select your customrom.zip and press the power button, your rom will now install. after it is installed you can reboot your phone and if you did everything right your phone should boot into your new rom, the first boot can take a long time sometimes.
Some custom roms for jellybean:
CM10.1
CM10.2
JellyBeer
If you want a ICS based rom like cm10 or MIUI you first have to flash v10 baseband attatched below.
Happy Flashing!
oh thank god. there is still development for our little l5. thanks you very much. gonna test asap

You're right. The E617G does not have 4.1.2 with stock anyways, only 4.0.3. Please disregard my post.
I meant to post this in in the ICS thread, where it states that there is no unlocked bootloader support for the E617, which is false.
Key combination for recovery is (if I'm not wrong cause it sometimes fails just keep trying) volume"-" + home button + power button until it vibrates and show LG logo then release only power button and keep pressing both of the others for about 8 seconds then release.

KDZ update over V10 failed
Hello,
I tried to isntall this V20 KDZ on top of a V10E image on a E612F.
After flashing and booting,"Home" and "Lg Setup" and "Laucher" and all other apps start crashing.
If I try to flash a V10 KDZ back on, it fails with error "Wparam 100 LParam 1002" after the phone reboots to download mode.
I am only able to flash V20 KDZ files and I can`t get the phone to a point where adb works in order to replace bootloader or whatever.
Any idea to solve this?
Thanks

- maybe a factory reset helps, on this site they explain how: http://www.hard-reset.com/lg-optimus-l5-hard-reset.html
If that didn't worked, can you go into recovery? If so, wipe /system,/data,
/cache and flash over a custom rom like cm10.1 or Flatzki's cleanrom --> not too heavy modified and good performance

Thanks, I tried resetting with the Vol - + PWR + HOME, but the phone behavior was not what I expected. In the end, I managed to install The modded V20 from xoxodemo's thread and mixing and matching with bootloaders for E610 and latest CWM. This allowed me to install CM10.1 on the E612f
Thanks, anyway =)
Hi , just bought a new LG L5II E455 with JB 4.1.2. yay!
so before messing things up just wanted to know if this guide also
covers this model?
had some MTK 65xx phones before and using MtkDroidTools for backup and root
but seems it can't do squat about this phone. so as a seasoned droid user I know
my first step before anythings else should be making a full backup so which tool/flasher
would you suggest?
tnx.

I think the easiest way is to use LG mobile support tool. refer to this member post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456558&highlight=encrypt
- Boot you phone to S/W update mode
- Run LG mobile support tool (B2CAppSetup.exe)
- Select recover you phone from menu and wait for about an hour
- *Dont forget to comment lg server that you add in host file for offline flash
There're also other way to fix it, if you can boot into Stock recovery by Holding vol- + ... (I can't remember ), but this combo may hard reset your phone if you don't have stock recovery. In stock recovery mode you can use adb to push and replace busybox. I don't try this myself but some member unbrick their phone by this method.

Your phone model is P760, right? What is your original rom version on your phone before flash new one?
Which kdz you flash?
And what the problem with your phone?
Got some really good problems now,
If I try to flash the V20H_00.kdz, the tool crashes, i don't know how or why, LG mobile support tool detects mobile, but doesnt want to install a software since the last version is installed already, indeed if I start up the phone, I get a white screen....
I NOW CAN COME INTO CWM, but problem is, I can't install rom because of a problem, it denies, number 7 fould. Maybe because my bootloader still isn't unlocked?
I really don't get it since I had a custom rom already before without any problems... ;S

CWM recovery has save log to sdcard option (in advanced menu). Please try to save installation log to sdcard and find out what the problem.
What's your phone model? Did you try other rom?

I have a LG Optimus L9 P760...
I used the ROM (cm 10.1.3 P760)
I did try another ROM and I got the same error...
Ill wipe cache/factory reset/dalvik cache/mounts and storage wipe data and cache...
So I rooted my phone with a locked bootloader using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465 and went ahead and installed CWM recovery, and then tried to flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428306
After my phone rebooted, I keep on getting this LG Security Error and cannot boot into the phone. I've tried to use the fastboot method to try and flash a new kdz, however I keep on getting stuck at the waiting for device part.. would appreciate it if anyone could help me to just restore my phone to factory settings?

Sounds like you made a serious error and didn't do any research before proceeding. Did you install the LG drivers prior to doing anything with the phone? If not, you have just bricked your device. L9RecoveryInstaller.apk is the ONLY way at the moment to successfully install CWM on the P769 if the bootloader is locked. I don't have all the answers myself as I'm fairly new to this device, P769, myself. There may be someone here with a little more insight as to how to fix your issue, but if you didn't install LGs drivers beforehand, I'd say your device is bricked. Sorry.
You'll need to use fastboot to flash ICS u and x. Then go into upgrade mode by holding volume up and plugging the phone to the computer. Upgrade mode should pop up and you're ready to flash any kdz using the offline flash method.

Or simply unbrick using the lgupdate tool. Why not go the easy way?

security error should appear when some system mod was been wrong (sorry bad english)
you should re-flash the firmware with kdz(this time flash a firmware with cwm and root included)

L9 P769 is a much different creature than the other P76X variants. CWM CANNOT be installed on the recovery partition unless the bootloader is unlocked. There are very few people here who have managed to unlock the bootloader on this device ( P769 ). Any attempt to modify the bootloader, boot partition, or recovery ends in "LG Security Error". As per my previous post, the only way to get CWM on this device with a locked bootloader is with the L9RecoveryInstaller.apk.

Do you have busybox installed and or do you have multiple copies of busybox installed?
If you don't have busybox, install it from the Play Store. Make sure it installs to /system/xbin.
If you have multiple copies, which I did when I had this error, use the busybox installer to uninstall all copies of busybox and then use the installer to reinstall busybox to /system/xbin.
You may need to run L9RecoveryInstaller again. It will say there is a recovery installed just reinstall anyway.
Reboot and try again.

Cm11 is available, yes some people can unlock the bootloader. Theres a few threads about removing tmobile bloatware, along with solutions to the other questions I answered. Simply search your question and you'll find a solution. THEN if you can't find the solution by searching make a thread to ask about it. Goodluck if you try unlocking the bootloader, its quite a journey!! If you can't unlock it or the process scares you out of trying search Kuma ROM. Goodluck!

Hi, I'm in a similar boat as the OP, successfully rooted the device but didn't realise I needed an unlocked bootloader to flash a recovery. Now I get Security Error.
Now, I keep seeing "ICS x and u" on this forum, and have no idea what it is. Yet people keep saying it like it's obvious.
Is this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44144663
If so, obviously I can't follow the steps because my phone won't boot up past the splash screen. And said phone isn't recognized by ADB at the moment, because I can only figure out how to boot it into S/W update mode.
Currently I can't even use the L9RecoveryInstaller.apk, because, again, can't boot up. Help?

You'll need to use fastboot to flash the x and u images. They are included with the tools. Search the General section.
