[Q] How to force LTE only - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Does anyone know of a non root solution to force LTE to stay on? On my old s4 they had the secret dialer menu that let me force LTE is there something similar for the one?

Keep in mind that if you lock it to LTE you will get no voice service. Your phone will not ring, you will have no indication what so ever that someone is calling you. LTE is for data only and for voice it drops down to UMTS or GSM.

so then how does one revert back to default setting?

You RE-enter *#*#4636#*#* and and change it back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE AUTO or just simply go back to internet settings and choose this Network Mode.

I tried this and i was still getting calls...instead of doing that, turn on "do not disturb" mode .. and say goodbye to phone calls dropping you down to 4g while tethering while gaming
The calls will go straight to vm without even dropping you down to 4g

This is cdma not gsm. You need to update your profile in system updates. Then dial *17

4G LTE issues

I have a question about my 4G issue. The only time i can get 4G is when I select 4G only in the command settings, but then i don't have voice services. Is there a fix or a know issue about this issue im having? This happens with any rom i flash.:crying:

4G on the EVO is garbage. My S4 is picking up 4G in areas my EVO never has and with great speeds in areas the EVO had picked up 4G. Not sure about your issue though. Update PRL and Profile?

Weird thing that I have noticed is,
I have perfect LTE (25MBps up) when I run Stock Android 4.2. CyanogeMod 10.1
Any Sense Rom I run it has no LTE. When I select CDMA/LTE it won't connect to Data at all. When I select CDMA it will connect to 3G.
I hate it and have never found a fix for it. So I am stuck on 10.1 with not a lot of updates. Which is fine, but I like to switch back to Sense everyone once in a while and when I do I am forced to use only 3G.

i know that's what I have heard as well. My phone is weird, but it runs perfectly on stock Android so I can't complain too much!
Mine connects to 4g lte without issue as long as I'm running meanbean or stock with goodies. On several other rom's I had problems connecting. Not sure why.

No, if I remember correctly you're picking up sprint lte, it just thinks it's verizon or whatever carrier you're roaming on.
Also, OP, have you tried switching to another phone, then switching back? I know that sounds weird but my brother was having data issues on his virgin mobile phone and that's how he fixed the issue lol

No. Your 2G network which controls voice is roaming. However your phone has an established 4G network connection. Sort of like being on wifi and roaming. Your calls go through the 2G network while the data is being handled by your wifi/4G. Those signal bars are strictly for your 2G connection. 3G and 4G have their own connection which is not viewable unless you dig into ## settings from dial pad. Sprint don't have any 4G roaming agreements with any other carrier.

My Galaxy S4 prefers 3g over 4g LTE

So I installed the Google Edition rom on my GS4, and everything worked fine. Then I had the brilliant idea to call *228 to reprogram my towers, and I lost all 4g connection.
I restored back to my stock rooted rom, and used Phone Info to see if I can get 4g back. When I made Phone Info do LTE only, I got 4g LTE connection, and it passed the ping test, but I switched back to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL) and it goes back to only 3g connection.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Dialing *228 doesnt do anything for 4G. The cell towers are automatically updated via your sim card.

You nuked your sim. Get a new one and don't dial *228.

Alright, thanks for the info
I helped someone out who couldn't get data after all the troubleshooting we did. I told him to go to the Verizon store and get a new sim. He did and now he gets full data.

what ROM are you running?
some of them reflect a different symbol
for example.......there is a ROM that show "HSPA+", same thing as 4g LTE
I am running the stock ATT jb

Could some one tell me the apn

so did you flash another modem/radio?
since yesterday i cant use the att jb modem on Tmo not sure what the heck happen
I've been using the same modem
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Reboot the phone and let the phone register on the network. The APN should be in the phone database. In case its not, which would be impossible with a stock rom, you can enter it, and be sure to SAVE it.
Right now I'm using the phone apn I have rebooted the phone many times I actually would like to know when I put it to only lyrics in the phone info menu it still shows as hspa
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
HSPA = 3G/4G Kind of strongest signal available.
On TouchWiz firmware:
E=2g
3g=3g
4g=hspa
4g lte= lte the strongest signal.
Aosp:
E=2g
3g=3g
H=hspa
4g= lte
disable lte

Still not the same. There is no stock option that will force your phone to roam.
Coming from HTC as well, I miss that option. On MeanRom/MeanBean I could install any Sprint PRL on the fly and force my phone to roam without the phone trying to connect back to the Sprint network. I'm hoping someone will figure it out for the Note 3 sooner than later.
