Hello everyone.
Had a custom rom installed (Yes I know that can be dangerous, but do it allmost everyday) But my problem is that my IMEI changed to 00049 ...... and now I don't have any network.(Nope never used that efs backup)
So I did find a guide to restore my IMEI by deleting the efs folder and copy som date back from from my SD card, but that didn't work, tried to flash another rom and now the internal SDcard i also formatted, så no backup at all
My problem is that in the efs folder somthing is missing the imei folder and now my phone don't connet? What rom do I need to install and hvad tool / guide do I need to follow to restore my network connection.
/Otto
PS: I think I allmost have done the same thing as this guy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1862127
If U dont have efs backup then only way is sending phone for repair. But ure going 2 pay as warranty is void.
You can try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918601
Worked for me on another i9300 I had but only gave me gprs no 3g connection.

Usually when the number changes it is due to the folder just not being read by the rom, flashing a stock rom via odin often resolves this. By wiping the partition you've completely destroyed it, as above you can't now do anything without a backup.
Following the first thing you find can often make things worse, best research fully before flashing anything.
u have flash a MG4 rom ? If so then u MUST use the MG4 modem .. all other modems not working and let u lose IMEI ... its bec of change EFS partion ..its not broken only change other format .... u can read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377731
He wiped the efs folder, nothing is going to bring it back apart from a backup.
So far so good
Hello everyone.
I manage to get somthing of an idea here:

But my problem is to find a rom where I can use the hidden menu?

So right now I can't see these settings: RMNET + DM + MODEM (RMNet = USB virtual Ethernet framework; DM = Diagnostic Mode; Modem = self-explanatory)
So I am trying to download a Odin ROM ala: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187081

It is not going very well at the moment, still have problems loading the right rom using Odin, maybe I will try to download the EBM6 Rom and flash via Odin.
No /Wrong IMEI/ EFS
Restore backed up EFS folder
No backup then try flashing a stock rom via Odin .
Fails = service centre .
Links methods you have posted OP are not for this phone .

you should try to get a z3xbox or a a smart sam box to write back the original imei number. this worked with my new pcb.
Androm3d-vzla-v3.0
This was the ROM that killed my IMEI, think that I need to buy a Z3X-BOX or something like that to restore my phone

oh well just use the phone as MP3 player Camera etc
Or search the restore IMEI threads / restore EFS folder threads might even be in the stickies section .
Next time follow rule one Back up your EFS first ..Rule two is understand before you flash what you are doing as it saves another brick in the SGS2 wall .

If you have root, try this tool if it doesnt work, flash your phone back to stock, reset the flash counter with a USB jig and send it to samsung saying that it suddenly stopped working.
If you have never flashed a custom rom, then just send it back to samsung (Make sure the flash counter is 0 and you have no yellow triangle and that its on the firmware your phone came with)

Hi guys, well i managed to somehow ****up my efs folder and it now says no baseband and imei/imeid.
I have searched and searched for but closes thing i was able to find was using nv writer to write my old imei back onto my phone. The problem is when I *#7284# I have no option to choose DM + ADB + <cant remember other option> I only have PDA or MODEM option.

Can you try kTool?
K-tool does not work, which is why Prodigy got me to type a command line in the terminal which backed up my EFS folder manually. Now I have an EFS.IMG This is why i put up the THread Because I knew it was soon someone will be bound to stuff up there EFS.. Which is WHY WE ALL NEED TO BACK UP OUR EFS ASAP before we start modding
But as for recovery its hopeless? Can a box be used to restore the imei? Anyway i can write my imei using nvwriter after somehow solving the problem of not being able to put my phone into diagnostics mode?
Argh! I am going insane, this is looking like a one dear mistake!
I had the exact same problem. Tried MANY things, with no luck. If you got yours from Optus less than 30 days, they will give you a brand new replacement phone .
Try to install a stock rom like 4.0.4... that worked for me on a S1 with the same problem and fixed it!

I have the same issue although it happened to me when I flashed a rom to ROOT my device and I didn't back up the EFS, now it doesn't read the SIM/Network and my Baseband & IMEI are Unknown.
I have tried re-installing the stock firmware etc but still no success...
Anyone have any suggestions?? Or at least how I can update my device status back to normal a pose to 'Modified'.. This was I could maybe submit it through warranty repair.. I have tried to reset my binary count with triangle away (before unrooting) but no success as.. The only thing i've managed to be able to do is unroot my device..
Please help!
Thanks...:fingers-crossed:
if you dont mind about the reading , u can still use your phone flawlessly.. and try the trick "oh im not sure , oh i dont know" and get one replace or u will need jtag i guess.. or maybe ( not sure if it work ) get someone else backup efs and find a way to put your imei in and push it back to your device.. and then repeat same procedure with your original imei ... if u cant remember , take a look at your box.. well..i am just suggesting..not sure if it work...
to get rid of modified , go download sammy official release for your telco or country , flash it with odin but the binary counter remains... good luck to u..

I read last night that if you flash the original OTA over your phone it will re write your IMEI number and if Telstra's one is not out just use one from AT&T or Optus etc..
So you can make a back up of your EFS and go from there with re rooting and applying a new baked rom.
Either way if can work or it can not. i see no harm
Anyway here is the EFS taken' just now
you should never share your EFS folder with someone else. Due to the fact each imei is unique.

No, it is not. And also illegal. I have removed the link for you.
OP, hope you get it worked out, but this will only cause more trouble than it already has.
After flashing a modem I had no network. I've checked and I have no IMEI. When I type *#06# the box is just empty.
I already restored an EFS backup I've made, and the EFS folder seems ok.
Also, the modem I flashed was the stock one.
Do anyone have an ideia of what can I do to recover my IMEI?
I think you have installed the wrong Modem driver, try to get the official one from other sources and try again.

Nope, it is the correct stock modem. I also reflashed my previous one and it still has no IMEI.
Modem has nothing to do with a lost IMEI .
Restore backed up EFS and or factory reset .
Fails try a stock rom flash .

Yeah, but I only lost IMEI after flashing the modem. I had flashed modems before (even this one) and never had problems, so something must had gone wrong.
Already restored a backed up EFS.
If I don't find any fix I guess I'll try a stock rom flash...
Type *#1234# and see if baseband is unknown. If so then flash another modem.
Another thing to check is that if stock samsung dialer is not working imei will say null.

Hi
I decided to try one of the leaked 4.2.2 roms for my Samsung galaxy S3
I made a nandroid backup in CMW recovery before doing so
Flashed the rom and all worked ok but would not connect to my network (EE/Orange UK)
I tried another custom rom same story
Ok so i thought i better recover my nanroid recovery
booted into CMW and it cant mount the SD card
So i used S3 Toolkitv7 to download a stock rom and flash via odim
Again stock rom will not connect to EE/orange
So now im truely stuck

0049990 is a generic IMEI if your efs gets deleted/corrupted..it won't register on the network.

I flashed EE stock firmware and also followed the guide on this site for resetting the yellow triangle
Sent it back to Phones 4 you they had it for nearly 1 month
But got it back fixed and done under warranty
Next job to backup the IMEI
You couldve just flash Mg4 baseband, because your efs partition was changed. Because the latest MG4 baseband does that. Read Efs /IMEI sticky in general section.

No idea really... but if you know how to flash a stock rom via ODIN you can try that. If flashing back to stock again doesn't help then you probably need to send to Samsung for repair.
No service as per the basic guides stickied in General section .
Please check your IMEI is correct if not restore your backed up EFS folder .
No EFS backup = no fix .
jje
I've just falshed a official firmware rom again , and still no coverage but at least it recognizes the sim .. If I have this new OFFICIAL ROM , and Flash Counters are reseted , I can go with it to warranty ?
If you have followed all the steps in the guide then you will probably get a warranty repair .
jje
Hi !
I'm sorry, , either you flashed it on Odin with "Clear EFS " box ticked, either you flashed firmware for wrong device. (Ex: i9000 for i9300. )
Anyway if you didn't backup EFS the only issue is Reparation Center.

you might be able to restore service if you flash an MG4 or MG5 official rom through Odin. This is only if you previously used an MG4 or MG5 rom and then flashed some other rom which uses an older modem . read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377731 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393289

I don't think it will work.
alexalghisi, can you go in Phone Information and check if you have baseband?
If no, warrently, no luck.
In the black box the phone or modem is Mc2. This is an older modem than MG4. When a ROM that uses an MG4 Modem is flashed , it alters the files in the efs Folder making the folder unreadable for earlier firmwares. If OP had ever flashed an MG4 or MG5 ROM . than an MC2 ROM would not be able to read the EFS. as it can only be used by the newer firmware that can read it. If the folder has not been corrupted than it should work.
