I can confirm this DOES work!!! Tried it on my Wind RAZR V. It performs perfectly. Thanks so much for the tutorial!
Basically what you're doing is flashing XT885's Jelly Bean but then putting back the XT886's radio from ICS.
Is there any way to go back to stock XT886 ROM or to reflash XT885 ICS ROM with AWS radio? The thing is that the ICS ROM for XT885 that works with AWS (the one included in the thread) has support for Vietnamese language which I really want on this phone. However after updating to Jelly Bean it removes the Vietnamese language.
I tried flashing both the XT885 and XT886 files in RSD Lite and both of them fail with error "Failed flashing process. 5/17 flash cdt.bin_signed -> Phone returned FAIL"
Any help?

I'm sure that it's failing due to trying to go to a lower software version. Without an unlocked bootloader you won't be able to downgrade firmwares.

After i installed this i lost my data connection. Calls worked but no internet. I figured out by the end of the day i had to add a APN since there were none. Also there were some initial settings that popped up regarding the sim when i first powered up after a successful install. Maybe something to do with that too but i know for sure it was the APN

[ROM][GSM][LATAM RAZR] ICS 4.0.4 upgrade guide - "not so permanent now"

Block file updated!
I've successfully update my LATAM device, Claro BR RAZR XT910 to ICS 4.0.4 - 67.2.120 (China Retail).
UPDATE: Tested and working on USA GSM
Everything is working, including hardware acceleration (thanks to update 3.0.8 kernel)
New webtop version. Radio is better than 2.3.6/2.3.5 in Brazil. No FCs since installation! (3 days ago)
The only downside: usb mass storage don't work.
Attention!! This was supposed to be permanent, no way to go back to 2.3.6 after updating to this kernel. UPDATE: I managed to downgrade back to t-mobile 2.3.6 via RSD without any issues. I just modified the XML to prevent internal storage erasing. Important!
Original thread on http://www.grupoandroid.com/topic/44109-gsm-ics-404-china-retail/
I just modified some things to make sure it works on LATAM devices.
Instructions:
1. Make sure you are on 2.3.6 (flash by RSD Lite, no fake nandroid "flashing")
2. Uncompress mmcblk1p18-go.rar to SD card.
3. Root with Motofail
4. Make a backup copy with ADB (you need root permissions, send "su" command first)
(very important! will be used in the future to remove boot error or if you want to have a remote possibility of downgrade)
Code:
cat /dev/block/mmcblk1p18> /sdcard-ext/mmcblk1p18-back
5. Overwrite block 18 with ADB:
Code:
cat /sdcard-ext/mmcblk1p18-go> /dev/block/mmcblk1p18
If you got any error up here don't proceed, make sure last step was successful!
6. Make sure your battery is charged and flash China Retail 4.0.4, you need to unpack and find default_flash.xml inside p2b_spyder-umts_spyder-user-4.0.4-6.7.2_GC-120-175-release-keys folder. Use this XML for flashing with RSD lite.
7. Let it reboot and finish the process, after 5 to 10 minutes, reset and Press VolUp+VolDown+Power to enter boot menu. Now you must do the first boot with BP tools.
8. Navigate to BP tools with VolDown and press VolUp to enter. Wait for some time (I don't know how long yet).
8.1 Reboot and enter recovery. Let it finish upgrading recovery.
9. Wipe the device in recovery mode.
10. Go to the boot menu again and choose BP Tools option. It should boot up to ICS now (expect 4 to 8 minutes for the first boot)
11. Now you need root: This process will need many reboots, remember you will always need to reboot via BP Tools now (I will try to fix this!)
11.1: Download ICS4.0.4ROOT-FIXED
11.2: Activate USB debugging and execute "Step 1 - Flash 403.bat"
11.3: Execute "Step 2 - Root.bat" Follow instructions. Note: after the second step the device will boot up with a black screen (even using BP tools), don't worry it's "normal"! Wait for windows to detect a MTP USB Device and proceed...
11.4: After the last reboot, run "Step 3 - Recover.bat"
12. Install RazrICSBootstrap.apk with ADB ("adb install ....")
13. Flash latest GoogleApps http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
13.2 Start (as always) with BP Tools
You're ready to go! It's highly recommended to remove all Chinese apps with TitaniumBackup before installing your stuff!
Instructions for flashing T-Mobile ICS coming soon...
14. Install OTA RootKeeper from Play Store
15. Open Voodoo OTA RootKeeper and click Protect root
16.. and next: T-mobile 2.3.6 (downgraded bootloader to 0.6), T-mobile OTA ICS installed and running smoothly (no sdcard mount yet), planning to perform the so called "impossible downgrade"
Good luck with RAZR!
Nice job

Not for now. The only available languages are English and 2 variants of chinese. After all this is the China Retail version and their carriers are not so much "globalized"

Multi Mount SD-Card is saying device isn't compatible! I'll try with other apps later. And yes, it will be possible to update. Actually I'm going to test switching to the German ICS leak and/or american leak.

Technically yes, but i believe there is a way back.. I just didn't tried yet!
My test list for now:
1. ICS 4.0.4 Nandroid over China Retail, chances are we got SD card fixed, as the Chinese version was developed for a different Razr. Testing now! Again!
2. 672.152.43.en.EU leak, i've heard there are many languages available on this one Will never work... this one is for people coming from 2.3.6.
UPDATE! Both failed I'm not finished yet... will attempt later with build.prop modifications!

I did not tried yet, the kernel was using RSD Lite after changing the mmcblk1p18 file.
I've got some work to do now and no reason to downgrade from T-mobile ICS (everything is working like a charm) but i will test tomorrow!

[Solved] Bricked my RAZR after selecting USA Band

I accidently selected USA band on RAZR XT912 and it blocked all GSM signals . I was travelling so i applied the JB OTA update over JB and it bricked my RAZR .
How do i unbrick it . While upgrading to JB i read that there is no way to go back to ICS
Bricked my RAZR after selecting USA Band
http://batakang.com/ftp/?dir=DROID_RAZR
Place tho JB OTA on your sdcard
Download the last file in the list at the above link
Place phone in Fastboot mode
Pwr/vol+/vol-
Vol- to AP Fastboot
Vol+ to select
Run the .bat file in the extracted download
When complete phone will fail to load
Power down and use pwr/vol+/vol- again and select recovery
Apply JB update again
Unfortunately there's no way I'm aware of to go back to ICS but the above file will get you to a state where your phone will accept the update.
Razr blade is on the same FTP server if you want root
Credits go to mattlgroff and @djrbliss (think I spelled those right)

This solution works perfectly for unbricking Motorola RAZR XT912 .
-Selected USA Band---> signals blocked
-Applied OTA update of JB over existing JB ---->bricked my device
-Followed the above instructions--->everything working perfectly
Possibly bricked??
So I basically did the same thing. I manually upgrated to the JB OTA and my radio did not work at all. So I tried this fix and when I go to run this through stock recovery it just fails. So I tried to run it through Boot Manager on my phone but whenever I select it the screen just goes blank. Any idea's??? Im not feeling to good about this, please help if you can. Thank you in advance.
Hello am having the same issue I changed the Base band settings to USA band now I can't use a sim card on it . Hence, the signal is lost completely no network at all.
Am aware am suppose to flash the radio
Fastboot flash radio radio.img
I just wanna know the step by step procedures in accomplishing such task or any other method preferably that would yield the same end result.
Thank you

[Q] User Error - Moto Droid RAZR MAXX (XT912) now bricked! Any Solutions???

My Droid Razr MAXX is Bricked and I really need my phone! Any ideas out there?
Ill start from the beginning, list every single Mod I have done to my phone, where it failed, and why it failed, and see if there is a possible solution. This was my FIRST EVER SMARTPHONE. I had had a samsung basic flip phone for nearly 8 years but I am a huge computer nerd (Windows Specifically) and thought I could learn how to modify an Android. This Bricking and Erroring of my Razr MAXX all had to do with me downloading and installing the wrong ClockWorkMod .zip file, it was CWM_on_boot_REMOVE.zip instead of the correct install file. I wasnt paying attention to the attachments here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385283. If you look at the bottom you will notice only the remove file is there, because I did not see the other link in the post ITSELF to the CWM_on_boot real package download site. So here, in great detail, is what happened:
Early October 2012 - Recieve Droid Razr MAXX from Verizon. Comes with Android ICS 4.0.4
Mid October 2012 - Razr MAXX rooted using easy ICS root, works fine
Early November 2012 - Bought Motomizer Expert Edition to make overclocking easy, works fine
Late January 2013 - Cought wind of official Jelly Bean OTA and was deciding whether or not to start doing research and get it done
Early February 2013 - Cought wind of Jelly Bean OTA ROOT now possible and so I decide to make the push that night
Early February 2013 - Noticed that on Jelly Bean, many apps run slow/lag quite a bit. Games that are normally so easy to run (i.e. Fruit Ninja)
Early February 2013 - Get fed up with my lagging apps and decide its time for a custom ROM
Just Yesterday - (See Below...)
So what happened Yesterday was I installed Razr Bootstrap.apk and downloaded (or so I thought) CWM_on_boot (ClockWorkMod Recovery - N BOOT) package from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385283. I hit "Bootstrap" in Razr Bootstrap, it said "successful", I hit "Reboot Recovery" and it reboots into ClockWorkMod Recovery. Well, Turns out it was the CWM_on_boot_REMOVE package instead and not paying attention in ClockWork Mod Recovery, I hit "Install from SD" (NOT "Install Update from SD"). Here I am thinking everything went fine and dandy, then the phone rebooted after the "Removal"... Now it gives me this screen on boot:
ENCRYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL
Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible. To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account. (Below appears a small square button, it says "Restore Phone"
I have tried the reset button, it goes to the reset screen and appears to work, just to reboot to the "ENCRYPTION UNSUCCESSFUL" screen yet again, and does this over and over no matter how many times I try. I have a Micro-SD adapter and so I re-loaded the Jelly Bean OTA .zip file as well as the real CWM_on_boot package but cannot install them from the stock recovery mode screen. AP Fastboot goes to a screen where it says my phone is "Locked".
That is all the information as far as I can remember, if you need specifics feel free to ask. I was wondering if there was a way to reverse my CWM-on_boot_REMOVE error and simply remove all of the tweaks I have ever performed (i.e. get rid of modified kernel and JB and install original ICS and factory Kernel) and restore the phone to the day I pulled it out of the box back in October. After this mix up, I dont ever plan to use custom ROMs or OTA leaks ever again. Just a simple root on stock phone with some overclocking will do for me.

Well, did you tried to reboot the phone in AP Fastboot?! Turn off the phone and hold down "Vol Up + Down, then power" the AP Fastboot screen will appear.
If you can access the AP Fastboot screen, then your phone can be restored. Download the RSD Lite 6.1.4 and flash a Stock ROM to your phone.
I bricked my Razr Maxx trying to upgrade my ICS 4.0.4 to the JB leak, but the process failed. My phone was booting directly to the AP Fastboot screen.
It will restore your phone, but you will lost all your data.

I tried to find RSD 6.1.4 but only found version 5.7 but it said it was compatable with the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX so I downloaded and installed it onto my laptop. I located the official stock rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767255. I tried flashing this ROM and it failed at step 12/16: "boot.img". So I tried Droid Razr Utility 1.8.2 and again everything wen well except for 'boot' but on this utility it gave me the error:
writing 'boot'... INFOPreflash validation failure
FAILED <remote: >

I couldn't use the Razr Utility 1.8.2.
Always having failures when "writing files".
Believe me. Search for a Stock rom which is compatible with your phone (Maxx XT910) and correspond to your country. I'm from Brazil and all of the roms I tested couldn't be installed with RSD Lite (fails on step 6th). I found a brazilian stock rom (no carrier logo or apps) of ICS and installed it.
I can't post any links here (newbie yet), but the RSD Lite 5.7 works too. But you need to find a compatible rom.
___________
Another important hint. Be careful with it. I don't know if the phone can be charged when is bricked. Try to not keep it turned ON unnecessary.

Hey there guys. Thank you all so much for the help. After a few days of intense stress and toying, I finally got it online. A couple of great guys over at the AndroidForums helped me through every step. Pay special attention to the last tread but pay attention to them all it has important info that WILL help others. Here is the thread (below). How would it be possible to spread this information to allow others who needed help like me, to gain access to its information?
Link: ht + tp://androidforums + .co + m/razr-razr-ma + xx-all-things-root/689043-user-error-mo + to-droid-razr-maxx-xt912-now-bric + ked-any-solut + ions.ht + ml#post55 + 50465 (Sorry drastic measure there apparently I am not allowed to post links since I am new)
My Droid Razr MAXX is Bricked and I really need my phone!
I wasnt paying attention to the attachments here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1385283.
So what happened Yesterday was I installed Razr Bootstrap.apk and downloaded (or so I thought) CWM_on_boot (ClockWorkMod Recovery - N BOOT) package from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1385283.
I think you need to get the original jellybean rom from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/pho...SDLite) then u're phone is fully operational.
I think you need to get the original jellybean firmware then flash the xml file using RSDLite(assuming you have RSDLite) then u're phone is fully operational.
I am having the same problem

I tried flashing the zip but the process failed. I was using RSD Lite and it now reads an error on the RSD Lite: 'Failed flashing process: 6/16 flash motoboot 'motoboot.img'' Phone returned Fail.
Okay I have similar problem,I think. I can enter fastboot on phone, But all of a sudden my computer can't install the fastboot. So I can't use rsdlite or any other utility out there. Any suggestions??? Or is this phone completely bricked now?

kept reporting failed:boot flash failed...
now i've seen some people reporting failed but not at this stage so the solutions like "delete get var lines"" dont apply
i really hope someone has got the answer....

[Q] How to Change region from ME to EU

I have a Droid Razr Maxx and my System version is 673.94.324.XT910.MERetail.en.06 running Android 4.0.4 (ICS)
On checking for Updates, it says my phone is up to date.
Motorola site says this phone will remain on ICS and hence I want to change my region to EU where JB has been released for retail version.
If I want to flash my system to JellyBean retail version say Britan EU from this link, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231289
what is the correct sequence of flashes to be performed?
Should I first go to ICS of EU region then go from ICS to JB, or can I go directly to Jelly Bean.
I have never flashed my Motorola Razr Maxxx and am not rooted. Can anyone please give me pointers to where I should start?
Once I flash to a different region, would I receive OTA updates for that region ROMS?
Just flash it on top of your current Rom. No need to go to EU ICS first.
Updates for the RazR? I'll bet there won't be any Updates anymore.

Thanks for the reply.
However one more question: My phone is not rooted and when I go to AP Fastboot mode, I get the following message
Code:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
0A.74
eMMC Info: Size 16G
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down
Device is LOCKED. Status Code:0
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
My Worry is the line stating that Device is LOCKED.
Should flashing using RSDLite work without any additional steps?
Of course it shows Device is locked > That's your Bootloader! It's always locked on the XT910 This has nothing to do with RSD.

I successfully flashed my ROM to JellyBean en.EU (UK Retail version) -> 982.124.14.XT910.Retail.en.EU from ICS 673.94.324.XT910.MERetail.en.06
The steps I followed were as follows:
1. Take backup of your SD Card as this flash erases everything from internal SD Card and make sure battery level is at least 80%.
2. Turn phone off and remove your Sim and external SD card (Just to be safe)
3. Go to boot menu (While in power down, press and hold both volume keys, then press power button)
4. Scroll to AP Fastboot mode using volume down key. Select the AP fastboot mode using volume Up key.
5. Start RSD Lite 6.0 in computer (Make sure you have motorola drivers installed)
6. Connect your phone to computer using USB cable (In AP Fastboot mode)
7. Select the downloaded AP Fastboot file (Retail British is what I used) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231289
8. Click on Start
9. Sit back and relax for about 10 mins when flashing will be complete and your phone will reboot automatically.
More information of tools can be found out in this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539192
Remember: Once you flash JB, there is no way to go back to ICS. But I am loving Jelly Bean and Google Now. Phone feels smoother.
Hit Thanks if I helped you.

Yes, you will lose root by flashing. But there is a new linux based exploit for rooting again which i have not tried but seems to work for others -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257137
If your current ROM version is Retail (i.e not locked to a specific carrier like vodafone), you should only install Retail version.

[Q] How to switch XT910 4.1.2 Stock EU ROM to AU ROM

Hi all,
I am sorry for my not fluent English and long paragraphs.
I have a XT910, which is originally a HKTW Asia Retail. Previously I switched the rom from HKTW Asia Retail ICS to AU Retail ICS by RSD lite flashing and upgrade through normally receiving JB OTA.
Recently I have did something wrong that click select radio bands and click "USA bands" in test menu -> phone information (*#*#4636#*#*). I had no ways to retrieve back my H/3G connection, I could receive nothing without factory reset and later on only EDGE after factory reset. I have tried to flash EU 4.1.2 Rom from here for BRITISH RETAIL instead. I found my H/3G connection not stable though H/3G back again, I considered flashing back to JB AU RETAIL due to unstable mobile signal reception.
I have a few questions.
1. How should I switch from EU 4.1.2 to AU 4.1.2? I know I should not flash ICS back and my phone is not rooted.
2. Could I just replace a radio from AU rom? (I could only find AU ICS rom, will it work if I combine that with EU ROM by just replacing radio?)
3. If I direct apply AU OTA zip under recovery on it directly when it is in EU JB ROM, will it work?
Thank you very much for your answers. I need it for my daily usage.:crying::crying:

possibly, but build.prop may not be quite right.
If you see Baseband unknown in Settings>about Phone
build.prop needs to be edited, but I'm unsure what exact changes would be required.

Very unlikely, updates only include changes from old version to new version, and update checks to see if correct old version is installed, if not, update will fail.
Best to use RSD Lite
I know it would be great to flash AU 4.1.2 to restore all things back.
However, AU 4.1.2 ROM is not available, only AU Retail ICS to JB OTA zip is available.
What should I do?:crying:
I heard that even I plan to flash AU RETAIL ICS back and apply AU RETAIL UPDATE under recovery won't work as I would fail in flashing AU ICS procedure due to CDT update, is that right?
As I cannot put the screenshot here, I searched it from somebody successfully updated from HKTW to AU JB before, the baseband version is also noted in the screenshot.
I bet U_04.11.01P is the baseband I need, as I saw it in most APAC Retail, especially original AU JB seems used that too.
EU JB is with U_04.10.00R.
Thank you very much for any help.:crying:

I will check the OTA I had in my hand tonight as I am not next to my PC right now. I will update here tonight at Hong Kong Time.
one more question, as I could searched some results with AU 4.1.2 stock ROM with bmm to flash it, will it be another choice to retrieve back 4.1.2 AU ROM as RSD flashable zip/xml for 4.1.2 AU Retail do not exist?

Any rom the installs in BMM or safestrap will not include the radio.img, but it may be included in the ota.zip.
unzip the OTA.zip and see if it contains the radio.img if it does I suggest flashing it with mfastboot.exe
see my Restoring with Mfastboot
then you can see if baseband is correct, if not you can try installing AU 4.1.2 stock ROM with bmm, which should fix unknown baseband, if that is an issue.

Thanks for your detailed guide. I did it successfully and observed for a while that the strange unstable mobile receptions disappeared. I will observe further during daily usage.
points to note:
1. if I did the flash of radio without factory reset, the notification bar H won't turns blue even internet is accessible. After factory reset once after flashing the radio, everything works great.
2. baseband version in about phone shows perfectly without showing unknown.
3. v2 mfastboot doesn't contain fastboot.exe, I just replace the last command with mfastboot reboot instead.
Thank you very much.
