Newbie here. When I rooted by Vz Galaxy Note 2, TWRP was installed. I downloaded five different ROM's. Every one of them, get the same message that the zip file is corrupt when I attempt to flash with TWRP. Downloaded again to different SD card, same thing, can't unzip. SD card is formatted FAT32. I boot into TWRP recovery, factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and then install the ROM from the SD card within the install menu in TWRP, but I keep getting the same can't unzip/file corrupt message. (No, I didn't unzip them myself, they are zipped just as I downloaded them and on my external SD card.) Any ideas/help is appreciated.
Thanks, Cookie

Update TWRP, not your ROM. Hit the menu button in Goo and select Install OpenRecoveryScript.

I'm getting hard locks when using the latest AOKP. I'm going to try to use the 4-28-12 to see if the same issue occurs but what would cause a hard lock? It occurs frequently and seemingly randomly. I have to hold the power button down to reboot.
I've tried using different kernels as well (Neak and Siyah) but doesn't make a difference. I haven't made any special adjustments to the system voltage or other settings.
When doing installs I used Factory Wipe and cleared cashes and even used a kernel cleaning script. I don't get a hard lock or any total ROM freezes when using SHOstock2, just the latest AOKP. I'd much rather use AOKP over SHOstock2 because of the customization.
Any ideas? Anything I can try to do to test for causes? Any special apps I can run to get error logs? Thanks for your assistance.
Have you tried format /system?

If you mean factory data wipe in cwm yes. If not then no and I'm not familiar with a system format option.

Reboot to CWM Recovery>Mounts and Storage
It will wipe everything, so you'll probably want to copy everything on your SD onto your computer first.

Okay. I'm trying 4-28-12 again now. So far so good. Usually the hard lock doesn't take too long to occur. But once i'm able to backup the SD I'll try a system format.

No it won't wipe everything. Just your /System directory

Flash another rom with desktop odin, or put a rom on an external sd and flash it.

No need to mount. Simply choose "install zip" in cwm.

Im using Philz recovery and I have been installing new roms just fine. I wanted to format my internal storage cause the new rom required it. and now when I go to install a new rom it says E:Cannont write to /sdcard/clockworkmod/ .last_install_path. How can I fix this?
Try mounting the storage, wiping again, and try flashing again.

Yes, this. After you wipe everything reboot to recovery from within recovery. When/if prompted to install superuser, do so. Get the latest recovery as well if you are not already on it.
Good luck.
Hi,
i have the redmi note 2 prime with 5.10.15 and recovery 2.0.1
the updates says there is a newer version (5.10.22), but the insallation cancel with "error, failed to apply update.zip".
i tried to download the incremental roms 5.10.17-5.10.22 and put it on the sdcard, but the problem is sill there...
i also tried to wipe cache via fastboot erase cache, but nothing changed.
can i fix this without a factory reset?
thanks!
You must put the zip into the Internal Storage not in Sd Card. Use the updater app not the recovery. Go to updater app, install from sd Card and push to the zip which you want update.
