Hi,
Just wanted to share how to fix Xperia Sola back cover from making noises and deforming.
It's actually no big deal, someone else could allready think of that, but just in case u didn 't knew or used some other method...
So all u have to do is to tape an insulation tape pieces (1 peace on each side) on the inside of a cover. Personally I taped in these places:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is how I did mine:
No need to tape it beautifully.. remember it's the inside of a cover
trim insulation tape peaces with the lenght as in picture and hight as cover s hight is. Do not tape over those little pieaces(circled with blue color)
Mostly these are deforming parts because there is a free space between cover and phone. U can use pretty much everything but insulation tape would the best choice, You can easily remove it if it s not working for u but it should.
Remember do not put more that one slice on each side, then u will have a hard time to attach cover to phone and most likely it will deform or even break. If u see a build up on one or another side of the phone after attaching cover... u sould remove tape from it... probably yours is ticker.. look for a bit tinner one
Have fun!
Sorry for my English, if there is something u don t unerstand please feel free to correct me.
This trick is really very very cool thanks for that.. U rock

do u still have warranty ? if u do I suggest u to contact ur seller to fix this issue for free or u can try to fix it yourself but it's a risk that u could damage it more... I know exactly where the problem is, but to fix this u will have to remove whole cover and unscrew panel of the phone to check volume wire and put it back in it s place if it's not damaged. It could be deformed panel as well, since u said it got lower than it used to be.
Technically u can put something beneath it to get it higher, but thats to much of a risk My advice to u is to contact your seller for a fix

They told me that it's still usable and they didn't take the damn responsibility bro It always bother me everyday. I hate my volume buttons I have no more money to send to service center as the service center charges a lot to me. I bought this because my x8 is laggy and I need to get new phone with low budgets but I don't like HUAWEI so I get this phone. Anyway, thanks for your help bro. I'll find a better way.

that s su*ks man. they should fix physical defects right away.
is the phone brand new?
than u might try fix it yourself... as I told the wire might be knocked loose or there is a panel defect might be the button problem as well.
don t unscrew screws that are marked with stickers or some indicators, then u will loose your warranty.
actually pretty bad situation you have there... maybe let it go and use a volume widget so u don t have to press physical button
anyway, good luck with that, hope u solve it

Even better, maybe a quick thinking manufacturer will offer pre-drilled extra Batt covers, and while at it, why not a made of metal one, to beautify the HD a bit ore and increase it's metal ingredient factor..
I don't have the heart to drill mine, but would probably purchase a pre-drilled extra from a dependable source.

I would also purchase a pre-drilled metal batterycover!
I don't know what you guys do with your devices, but I have always been able to perform a soft reset without removing the battery cover, either using a normal soft reset app or by pressing the on-off button at the top. I rather like the idea the reset button is covered like that. Keeps the dust off my device
How about performing a hardreset when you are a flash-aholic?
Yea you don't need to use the soft-reset key, use a app the hdtweaks have one.

David, "soft SR" works only in certain cases. When your device gets stuck due to, say, "hard working" with it (v.s. "normal phone" use profile) you can't use either a Soft SR solution, or the Long Press Power Button, because, well, the device is stuck..
If you push any device to its limit, it may get stuck in a way only a mechanical SR can do with. Then taking off/on the cover is not only a burden, I believe that after as many times of doing this the cover studs will break.
Has nothing to do in particular with re-flashing. I test s/w. Some are causing strange effects. S/R is a gift in such circumstances. Just another tool and not a curse.

a custom cover would be great also for the dual sim solutions since there seems to be no space for this in the touch HD :/

For dual-sim cards see this post. Of course, you have to cut the card to use that style adapter. But, since we are talking about drilling holes in the HD cover, then why not talk about cutting sim cards.

Shouldn't be such a big thing, what is most important is to drill exactly in the right place, it takes a lot of care doing the measurments.

That's what I mean. You better not make any mistakes when taking the measurements. And when drilling, I assume you should not allow any gaps between the cover and whatever you are using as support on the other end or else you might run the risk of cracking the cover (of course depending on how hard you press - better let the drill bit do most of the job).
So, should you drill starting on the outside or on the inside part of the cover? Which one would make the hole look nicer from the outside?
Definitely start from the outside.
A metal cover would be interesting but surely it would screw up the aerial reception/transmission ???
i can't believe no-one has come out with a battery cover with a reset hole and an sd slot yet - seems like a no brainer to me!
Drilled my cover with 1,5 mm hole already some weeks ago. Make a 1mm hole first! Of course you have to be very exactly when measuring. Dont need to be afraid that cover will crack, its enough elastic.
No dirt visible inside until now. (there is almost no gap between cover and red softreset button).
Just a question one and all...
Why not use my Soft Reset app?
It's on the WIKI.. and on my Singh's Tings thread...
It adds an icon in the programs\system and in Settings too.
no prompt.. just FDI!

Saves you altering your hardware...

use a torch.
mod your phone so that it will fit an led> solder the led connections to the power source of the g1> rewrite camera code to whenevr u push the camera button the light will come on.
IDK if this is possible but i am sure it is

Interestingly enough, I looked into that. The "rear flash pack" the guy is talking about doesnt exist. The static image at the beginning of the phone with the back off is PHOTOSHOPPED to show an LCD on there. Yay, he touched an app on the screen that "turned on the lcd"! I could disassemble an lcd flashlight and tape the contact point, battery and lcd to the back of my phone and duplicate this video. I could even put an icon on my desktop to press too, just to make it look nifty! Notice how nowhere in the video does he show the back of the phone ON video in good light.
Oh, and very interesting that people have been asking the guy for the link for his "rear flash pack" for almost a year and hes given 0 responses.
Theres no proof of concept there. You know how ridiculous a mod like that would be? Not only would you have to have the knowledge of the circuitboards to solder the lcd leads on, but you would also have to know android well enough to know how to activate those specific contact points. Hell, we cant even figure out how to crack the rogers coding yet, what makes you think that someone out there figured all this out?
EDIT: Heres proof:
This is the "picture" from said video.
Increase the image to biggest size and notice the following:
-The LCD holes arent round.
-The LCD holes are PIXELATED
-The LCD holes are drilled right through a flimsy metal clip under the battery door. Look at it on YOUR phone and tell me how thats possible without the clip breaking into pieces and falling off.
-the rim of the LCD holes has obviously had the burn tool in photoshop applied to it (notice how its darker around the edges than any other part of the phone.
Oh, and the coup de grace: THE PICTURE IS AN UNBOXING PHOTO FROM THE PHONE'S RELEASE LAST SEPTEMBER. You can see the G1 box and all of the box contents on the floor right under the phone!
Well.. that brings us back to square one, ill bust out my nikon as soon as I get my phone up and running again, ran into some minor (i mean major) technical difficulties.

On a dutch forum a member had the bottom cracked and replaced it himself. You can buy the bottom part in certain shops. The transparant strip however is attached to the rest of the phone
If you mean this part:

Link to the part. It is a dutch shop but if they have it other shops could to:
http://www.mytrendyphone.nl/shop/sony-xperia-s-74198p.html
ouch, mine had a drop too and the border around the screen is really weak, it now has a small bend at the top corner, luckily it wasn't too bad, but it was only a short drop :\.
My old sgs i9000 with flimsy plastics has been through much worse and looks like new... I won't complain about cheap plastics anymore :X.
Ive found the part in a german online store !!! but.. how to remove the bottom bezel? is it needed to disassemble the whole internals? like here : http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/04/30/xperia-s-disassembly-guide/
or is it just removable by pulling it?

Mine Xperia S ( the black one above in the pic ) dropped on the street and had a crack too but you can easily fix it. Just order the bottom cover online ( the Dutch shop send it in whole Europe i thought ).
When you have a crack in the bottom cover the tension is of the plastic part so you can easily remove it with you're nails. If not, just pull in the middle by the transparant bar and lift the bottom cover with a credit card. The peace will disengage itself then.
Good luck!
il try my best but im scared to break it :O
Well if you break it off it wont matter now
You can just push the new one on then. I didn't realize they were already selling the bottom replacements, im not so terrified now if I crack it if I have a butterfinger moment .
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
yeah same .. didnt think bout those parts tbh and i didnt see them on the sony site for replacement parts.. anyways its pretty cheap here in germany 7,40€ for the bottom cover +2,50€ fee.. that makes not even 10€ i like that
I can't understand people who have a case for their phone. Case or not, the shock still might break the phone or something still can crack the screen.
You don't want your phone to get scratched? What difference does it make if it is in a case the whole time?
so i've ordered the bottom cover and just noticed a NICE really NICE scratch on the screen(not the protector.. i removed it)

hi there
I made myself a etui for my htc hd2 for about one year ago adn I'm using it for xperia S now
and I put in it a 3mm aluminium plate in front of it and soft leather inside
it all becouse of my work which is dangerous to any phone especially touch screens
so if someone can make for you something like that it worth any money couse then your phone is unbreakable
Does anyone know where we could order it here in asia? I cant find one in ebay
you must put something like a plettro between the bottom plastic and the trasparent plastic. then you must force the plastic up, it's very simple to do
My Xperia P is 7 months old and does not have any warranty...
Recently i noticed that something is leaking from illumination bar , but my phone was never in contact with water, so there is not a single chance that water has entered , the leakage is not giving any problem to keys , the keys are working fine but the leakage is growing I guess :crying:
could this lead to any big issue???

Are you sure it is a leak? Is it static or does it move? Because if it doesn't change as you move the phone, it may not be a leak.
If you look closely, you'll see that the illumination bar is not a solid part, its a top piece glued to a low piece. It might not have been properly glued, and with time it becomes worse.
If it is not any liquid in there, and it doesn't mess with the soft keys, i don't suggest to try and fix it yourself, cause it might get even worse. Just try to look past it, like a dead pixel or so
I don't think it will lead you to any major problem. The worse that could happen is that if it gets a lot further unglued the lower part of the illumination bar can become a bit wobbly
Can't post any pictures as my main camera is crap :L.
On my Xperia U, it did that on both sides the 2nd day I had it. It's not water, and it won't get any worse. The glue seems like a plausible idea. When I hard bricked it for the third time, I sent it off for repair. My guess is it sat in a Warehouse for a week, as it took ages to come back. Anyway, when I was finally reunited with it after a month or so, it had gone. Like invisible to the eye. I was so surprised I thought they had replaced more then the chip this time. They said they didn't, so I was just great full they swapped the LED bar. After 30 mins of this rooting, flashing and doing a Nandroid, it had come back. So it seems that it was the heat.
My advice if you can't stand it is to keep it cold WHENEVER you aren't using it.
But that's just me...

If it is static, i bet that it is a glue problem. And the heat, like Strike_Riku mentioned, might be a plausible explanation.
I love my Xperia P, even more than my girlfriend's iPhone 4S, but i've got to say, this is the kind of thing that makes the difference and gives value to the extra cash you pay for an Apple product. Poor manufacture is one of the cons of this phone. I'm not having this exact problem, but still it is of some concern. My bottom cap after just 2 weeks of use has started to move, instead of being firmly attached to the body of the phone. And i guess that it will get worse.
This is just the kind of thing that you'll have to get used to.
Without warranty, there is not much you can do without some risk to your soft keys.
But if you do want to slightly risk it, you could try to heat to that area with a hot air blower or a hair dryer, in hope of solving it by the glue melting again and pressing the two halves of the bar, getting it properly glued.
Or it could do the exact opposite, and make it worse
How can you not have warranty? Everyone gets warranty from Sony for 1 year it's the manufacturer warranty, but I have similar thing you described here, isn't that big a deal, doubt they'll do anything for you

To send your phone off for this small issue, hmm i wouldn't want two weeks without it
Bro, I too poste a thread for it yesterday.
I too have the Same Xperia P Silver and the same Plastic Cover
I am having the same issue u are having, But the Glue leak is more of center in my Case. The Glue leak Has covered my Center Home button, I wish i could post images but Forum wont Allow till i reach the 10 posts Mark!
I am having warranty and havent unlocked my fone yet and i can give it to the service center!
Would the fone be replaced or the Illumination bar itself?
And It can take max a month too, to get it replaced. I am confused whether to give it or not, the Glue leak is gradually increasing!
My Xperia P also have the exact same issue. When i press the bar from both sides it will go away , but after some time it comes back. I think the glue between the bar is going off. I also dont have the warranty.

if u are having warranty then u should go to service centre , and i think they will change the illumination bar not the phone
I am also having the same problem. But giving it to service centre is not a useful decision.
First , they will consider it as a design, not a flaw
Second, even if they change the strip , then the problem will arise again.
my past experience with service centre is not good. they will surely give more scratches to your phone, than you currently have
you can buy spare strip from here :

Got this on my U since about a month after I bought it, unlocked bootloader but they'll fix it or I'll just take them to court, not going to bother now though, will leave till closer to the warrant end.
death grip? is there any fix for that?
so , my phone also have a well known "death grip" problem . signal bars goes down from 5 to 2 or even losing whole 5 , sometime if it's even on 2 bar i can't use it as a phone .
WTF why is gsm antenna in the bottom corner of the phone ? why they don't made it in top corner of phone?
i remember when apple iphones had this kind of problem and apple gave customers free case , what htc done about it? will case help me at all? don't think so
Nothing?

Try this.
This will work :thumbup:
Hold the phone upside down.
So that the antenna will face up.
You might encounter some issues like the screen appearing to be flipped upside down.
You can simply fix that by rotating your head exactly by 180 degree. :angel:

Simply, either buy a case or hold it differently, cause you are holding it wrong.
guys are you really kidding me or what?
how should i hold it if that's not a "correct position" ? i'm really interested what the hell are you talking about
why it's not correct position? because of stupid htc made gsm antena in the bottom or what?
Spoke with HTC. They said the fix is to.... Not hold the phone when talking on it. They said you should use the one mini for talking.

Solder a wire to the antenna.
