In command prompt, I typed "fastboot -i 0x0fce getvar version"
And, it stays at <waiting for device>
I'd like to point out that I succeeded at flashing custom ROM last time, but now, it won't connect in fastmode.
I've installed the SDK (obviously)
Added the .inf file from SE site
Installed drivers from Flashtool folder
LED goes blue when connecting.
I've tried different ports, different OS, different PC altogether, but everything ends up with <waiting for device>.
Is the problem on the phone? How can I fix it?
Drivers seem to be fine...
Does your phone really go into fastboot? Blue LED stays on, nothing on the screen. If yes, check drivers once again! Does Windows detect the device?

Yes, the LED is blue, the screen is off.
Windows does make sound when connecting, and it doesn't pop up "new device" wizard.
Hey! Just noticed something.
When uninstall the drivers connect the device, Device Manager says "S1boot fastboot" briefly before going into "SEMC Flash Device"
How can I disable it from going to SEMC Flash Device?
And it happens only when I have drivers uninstalled. Seems they install once I connect the phone. Tried again without uninstalling drivers, and it goes straight to "Flash device"
Then maybe wrong drivers installed?

Maybe:
I've reinstalled the SDK - didn't work
Added .inf file from SE site - didn't work
Installed Flashtool drivers - didn't work
But now, I'm waiting for Lollylost100 to reupload the drivers he once uploaded on Megaupload - I think those ones worked last time (hopefully)
I'll install Debian and try again with new OS, with no installed drivers or whatever...
USB debuging is on?
Just wait a few seconds after connecting you phone in fastboot mode, sometimes computer takes time process.

2 things can be resone for this.first one is u didn't installed your adb drivers well.so it can be easyly fixed if u use xperia mini pro.just download drivers from the link below and unzip it.connect your device on fastboot mode and use device manager to ree update your drivers.when update your drivers, point drivers location to. Unziped fastboot drivers folder.make sure u have pointed x86 or x64 folder inside drivers folder.(x86 for 32bit os,x64 for 64bit os).check the problem is fixed.if not problem depends on second resone.it is u do not have correct fastboot program.(I have personal experience on this).just check the fastboot.zip folder for your device on internet and download it.(this is littlebit difficult but u can)when u download it just ree update your drivers using its drivers folder.when u use command prompt make sure u have opened correct folder from command prompt which contains fastboot.exe.(open fastboot folder write click while holding shift key and click on open command prompt window)then try using it.problem must be fixed.

ok.i got that.another thing i need to know is when u do first step is that the device manager recognized your device,if does,is it updates your device drivers when u point the drivers location to x64 or x86?(when u do that it must show android adb interface drivers installed, when u check device manager)which version of windows u used to do those steps? and tell me your device name and model.i will upload a correct fastboot program for u.just keep your hopes alive....

Having the same problem with my SE LWW.
hey im using xperia mini pro. it is rooted. running stock .58 gingerbread rom and stock kernel.
i want to unlock my bootloader so i can use a custom kernels.
the reason i want to use a custom kernels is so that my wifi problems (keep disconnecting by itself) will be no more. hopefully. and of course to overclock and underclock my device
im following someguyfromhell guide to unlock bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792 at #10. but for some reason when i go to this site http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com my browser crashed. any idea???
and last question, what custom kernel is the best for my mini pro.
rage kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398910
krsh kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1349630
or
x kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1451150
which kernel gives the best battery life is most important and also for performance. which do you think the best personally?
ok thats all. i hope i can managed to unlock my bootloader and flash a custom kernels this night
Download XDA ROM HUB tool from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1715277

Also rage is in my opinion very good with battery life.
You've got Rage for GB, ICS and CM7.2

EDiT:
if you can't do it with ROM HUB:
connect phone in fastboot mode, open a cmd window and type fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
you should get some response. like 0.3. That's just confirming that your phone is connected properly.
after that, type fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY
KEY is your unlock key.

im now downloading and installing all the android sdk files.
everytime i go to fastboot mode. nothing happens
omg guys. could someone just simply give me the link of that drivers or whatever to install?
i have installed android sdk manager and follow this ****ing tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27376017&postcount=2
i already got my special key to unlock my bootloader.
but whenever i connet my phone to fastboot mode by switching off and switch on my phone to my pc using usb while holding volume up button. blue led appear. then nothing happens!
its supposed to do this next "You will be asked for drivers. Point to the usb_driver folder where you placed the android_winusb.inf-file, and select the Android Boot loader Interface-file.
Open command prompt, first enter this
Code:
cd C:\...\android-sdk\platform-tools
Replace C with the correct drive letter and ... with the path to the android-sdk folder. Next, enter this command
Code:
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY" bla bla bla but i have no options to do this whatever because nothing happens when my phone on fastboot mode.
seriously i can go ape**** doing this
check if you have adb installed.
go to device manager. when you connect your phone to PC, you should see "sony ericsson" appear, and under that adb.
open cmd window. go start> run type cmd> hit enter.
just type adb. if you get a listing, you have adb.
if not,
follow this: ADB for dummies
if your adb driver installed correctly then hold SHIFT + right click the fastboot folder and choose open command from here. Follow the tutorial and ull be unlocking your bootloader in no time.
im unable to post a link but you can also check youtube and search for unlocking bootlader xperia videos.
Ok
I just updated to ICS and so far loving the new custom roms available
Im a total nooby when it comes to this so i used WotanServer (google it) to upgrade my phone to ICS then changed used a custom kernal which was recommended for the custom firmware.
Some roms don't allow you to use other kernals so it really depends on the rom itself in my opinion.
So the thing i would recommend to do it:
upgrade to .62
use and download SE Bootloader Unlocking v1.6 by quangnhut123 (it's under Arrow
Xperia Mini & Mini Pro & Active Android Developloment)
Unlock bootloader, root your device
then i used a method to upgrade my device without loosing my root and then installed krsh kernal with a custom rom which support krsh kernal ..

Your phone must have decided to abandon fastboot and went into charging mode. When you connect to fastboot, check to see if the charging icon comes up, if it does. It means your phone is not staying in fastboot.
You'll need to install fastboot drivers.
Refer to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554632
I faced your problem before, and following that thread unlocked my bootloader. Good luck!

Have you installed the drivers for fastboot or ADB? If not you have to do so, and it shouldn't take much time if you use the fastboot gordon gate installer.
I am following the official guide [*1], which is suggested from this root instruction[*2].
But I keep getting this error:
Code:
C:\fastboot>fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xMYKEYGOTFROMSONY
...
FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed)
finished. total time: 0.021s
What could be wrong? Is there anyway to get more debug information to see why it's failing?
Here is my settings:
Phone model: D6503 / Xperia Z2
OS: Win 7 64-bit
USB Driver: Android Bootloader Interface version 4.0.0.0 [12/6/2010]
(This one is using android_winusb.inf dowloaded from Sony official site, and the rest files from latest Android SDK (64-bit)[*3].)
In the service info > Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
Running this cmd:
Code:
>fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
shows "5.0".
I didn't insert the SIM card while unlocking.
The phone USB debugging mode is enable already.

If you run "adb devices" from wherever your adb.exe is, does your phone show up? That's a good way to test if your USB drivers are working.
Download latest flashtool and install all drivers again and then use flashtool folders to use USB might work out better for you

@JMonkeYJ: I ran adb.exe with my Z2 phone in fastboot mode, but it didn't find any device.
@festa20: I downloaded flashtool-0.9.16.0-windows, installed it.
- then run flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe, install below drivers:
Flashmode drivers, fastboot drivers, Xperia Z2 Device Drivers.
(But when connect Z2 to the USB in fastboot mode, in Windows 7 Device Manager, it still shows:
SAMSUNG Android Phone (my old phone was a Samsung):
Sony ADB Interface (Driver Provider: Google Inc., Driver data: 12/6/2010, Driver Version: 4.0.0.0)
Looks like the ADB driver is still the old one I installed, not from the flashtool(?)
- I then run flashtool\x10flasher_lib\fastboot.exe in command line, still got same error...
Looks like it's a driver issue, how do I install the correct driver?

If your device is plugged in to PC in fastboot mode you need to do "fastboot devices"

I get a similar msg.
Running SDK from Linux (Tiny Core)
fastboot fired up fine
But got similar message after following Sony step-by-step.
./fastboot devices
then tried
./fastboot -i etc.
RESULT:
FAILED: (REMOTE: Command not allowed)
Any ideas?
Is there a different tool I should try another utility?
This Z2 is a Verizon release...and I noticed Sony site mentions some Z2 devices cannot be unlocked.
Is this an evil empire block?
Help!
I have problem just like OP. How did you fixed it?
Bootloader Unlocked Allowed : Yes
and fastboot working, detect my phone.
I already tried with 14,15 digit IMEI but result are same as the output bootloader key is same
I have issue using this method as well as trying to use flashtool. Both doesn't work. For fastboot I get into the command prompt and it's just stuck on waiting for device. In flashtool it can't find my device and tells me to reboot the phone. Any ideas? BTW my phone is rooted does that have something to do with it?
you cant adb bootloader unlock unless you have added/modded some adb files
(only aplies to z2 btw)
(yes fastboot and flasmode too you need the files(try developer.sonymobile.com)
try flashtool from flashtool.net
install drivers first before trying

Still don't work after downloading again. Anyone else got it working willing to help out? I've tried going through Sony developer again and it doesn't work. BTW my handset says bootloader is unlockable.

you can get all these files from sonymobile or adb download
of course you can try the easy way to unlock which is USING FLASHTOOL

What did you do? I'm having the same problem as khumash, I get:
Code:
>fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xMYKEY
...
FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed)
finished. total time: 0.020s
However, my device shows up when I do "fastboot devices", though nothing shows up when I do "adb devices"
