[Q] Will newer versions of the stock android be available? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi,
I rooted my gs4 (MDK) Kernel because I didn't want to accept the update and not have the option to do what I want with my phone. However, I like the stock ROM and like the features of TouchWiz. As new versions of Android (4.3 and eventually Key Lime Pie) come out, will I be able to flash stock roms with touchwiz from this site, or will i have to wait around for Verizon to come out with an official release?
Is 4.3 available anywhere now?

Yes, most likely you will be able to flash pretty much all versions of android as long as the device is compatible. There are a lot of great devs out here who develop TW roms and AOSP roms. To answer your second question, there is a 4.3 rom floating out there somewhere but it doesnt work on our phone.

JellyBean on Samsung Galaxy S3

So, I've got a UK Samsung Galaxy S3, and only recently, the carriers have started to push out Jelly Bean to the device. Only Three has done it so far, but, I'm sure my network will follow suit soon.
However, I literally have just rooted my phone. I used the guide which Chainfire provided in the forum - so, CFRoot 6.4.
I have installed CWM, and also TeamWinRecoveryProject - since I preferred TeamWin's interface, and the videos which I saw of it spoke highly of its capabilities.
So, when the Jelly Bean update does come out for my carrier (EE), will I be able to keep my root? I read around on the internet that if you have CFRoot kernel, you can still perform OTA updates (EE disabled the option, anyway, sadly) without losing root.
If so - perfect.
If not, though, would it be perfectly safe to just let Samsung Kies update the firmware? I understand it will remove root capabilities, but some people have posted about conflicts arising when flashing back to stock due to the install custom recovery.
Would it be easier to just install a ROM? I'm looking at CM10, and Paranoid Android. Both are JellyBean 4.1.2 ROMS. If I install them, would that mean that my phone would update to 4.1.2? I understand these are variations, but, is flashing a rom with a higher firmware number the equivalent of updating software through OTA/Kies?
Thanks a lot for your help! Rooting newb, here...
You don't have to think like that.
Samsung official roms are not the same than AOSP (ie pure google source based) roms, like CM, aokp, pure aosp.
In Sammy roms you'll find different framework , all the samsung apps that can't all be installed on aosp roms. You must think about what you want from a rom.AOSP ones are more fast (look at the size of downloads... between 800 MB and more than a 1 GB for most sammy roms, less than 500MB for others, even less than 200 for some), each of them have specific design and features.
You can have 4.1.2 by flashing any rom now, I think most of sammy roms are now based on latest uk Sasmsung JB. Changes between 4.1.1 &nd 4.1.2 are minimal and most of them under the water for end user.
For me rooting and installing CWM and wanting to keep pure samsung offcial rom is antinomic. The spirit of rooting is to get rid of imposed manufacturer choices.
Don't think about numbers but about features.

Quick ROM Question

Handing my S4 over to my boss who wants stock TW on it. I got the phone day 1 when it was released and put TWRP and have run some form of AOSP since then. What's a good TW ROM that close enough to stock? Also I know there was some stuff that broke rooting methods in the later builds we've gotten (ME7 I think?), will flashing these builds have any effect on my recovery/root?

I've heard Bonestock or Clean Rom are good TW roms, but as I have ME7 and a locked bootloader (I don't use Safestrap) I can't comment on them. If you flash ANY of the new updates you will lose the ability to unlock the bootloader, and will not be able to flash most roms anymore. If you use ME7, or to a lesser extent MI1, you can use Safestrap to flash roms, but will be severely limited on storage options.
Another thing you could do is flash back to MDK stock (what your phone originally came with), root it, freeze the updater apps, and hand it to him. It'll be bone stock without the risk of auto-updating.

[Q] Clarification on rooting and custom ROMs

So my girlfriend has wants her S4 rooted. I have the S3 and its quite different as far as rooting goes. I am also on sprint whereas she is on verizon (although thats not such a big deal).
Anyways, what I would like to have clarified for me is this: She is currently unrooted with stock MK2. From what I have read you can only root and install compatible roms with safestrap. The main thing she wants is KitKat and possibly CM. Is there any way for her to get either of these. Also, would it be possible to revert back to stock and flash KitKat with the OTA from verizon when it is released?
Thanks for any help.

There's no way for her to get KitKat or CM or anything AOSP. Hopefully the next OTA will have an exploit, but there hasn't been a cracked bootloader since the first version of firmware on the initial releases. Realistically, never going to happen.

[Q] How to update custom rom android version?

Hello! I just started developing my custom rom (for education purposes), and I played a little with the kitchen, however i'd like to know how could I update the Android version of the custom rom from 4.1, to let's say 5.0 or at least 4.41(I saw other people making things like that)? I use the stock rom as the base.
You can't update the Android version of a stock ROM. It *may* be possible to port a stock ROM from a very similar device, but the true way to get updated Android versions is compiling from source.

OC1: Is there any conceivable way that I could eventually flash an AOSP-based ROM?

I ended up with a Verizon S4 through eBay (for a good price at least), and have managed to get on 5.0.1 and root it (via the PC version of Kingroot). Being that it's the OC1 baseband version, my options seem to be quite - no, very limited, when it comes to flashing non-touchwiz based ROMs. Is there any conceivable way I can get a custom recovery on here that will allow me to flash AOSP ROMs? I can wait, it doesn't have to be right now... I just need to know if my particular S4 is permanently crippled in this regard, or if it's just a matter of waiting until someone cracks it. Ideally I'd like to have an unofficial Android M ROM on here when the time comes. What are my options?
Also, I just came from the development sub forum (I can't comment there yet) and saw a new 5.1.1 ROM (Gamer Rom?) that claims to work for the Verizon S4. I'm skeptical that it wouldn't actually brick my device so I wanted to check of anyone else here has found a way to flash it. As far as I know, we can't even flash CWM so I just wanted to double check of I was missing anything obvious. Cheers
