This wasn't happening when I first got the phone but now it is happening all the time when I receive photos through messages. Downloading other sms apps doesn't work either. Please help if you can. What's the point of having such a big beautiful screen if I can't use it all.very frustrating

I'm coming from Sprint and the HTC EVO 4G LTE and I have to say I'm really surprised and disappointed by this. I was able to send 2MB pics via MMS over Wifi with my EVO LTE.
I'm not sure if it's an HTC or a T-Mobile thing, but I hope there is a fix for it.
Well t-mobile has a 1mb limit, so if the picture is bigger than that, it does get compressed.
HTC One™
For example: Original picture is 526KB with a resolution of 720X1280. As soon as it's added as an MMS it's automatically compressed to 63KB ... but the same resolution. Upon being the MMS being received it's been reduced to a resolution of 432X768. Size and resolution reduced considerably on a picture that does not exceed 1000KB.
It has to be a htc thing because everything I'm reading on has to do with the evo, the one, the one x, the one v. I started using hangout and that solved the problem. I don't wanna use it forever but it will do for now

I don't remember this being an issue when I first got the phone. Did this happen to anyone right away or did you notice it after an update?

It's a problem that has been with the HTC One since day 1. I've made a couple threads on it as have other people. I'd link them up but that's too much work from the ipad. Bottom line is there is no fix and receiving pics via mms sucks on the phone and the only option is to switch to a different one. . I think I'm actually going to pick up a s4 because it drives me crazy.

i never noticed this problem on my evo lte. not once. this is actually the only thing i hate about this phone. been using imgur to upload pics and share links instead of mms, but it stinks that i have to.
and this is why I use gmail to send pics
I've been experiencing the same thing with downsized MMS pics on my One. The people who send me MMS are all using iPhone's or other Android devices, and the pics all come through much smaller than I would expect.
Then today I received a MMS that had a much larger-sized and seemingly-higher-res photo. Interestingly, it was from my father, who is using an LG flip phone (not a smartphone). It's not an old phone, maybe a year, with a 3mp camera. But I thought it was odd that of all the MMS I get that are low-res, that his pics from his non-smartphone would actually come through in higher resolution. Just an interesting observation.
My device: HTC One on T-Mobile US, in Portland, Oregon
My father's device: LG flip phone (not sure model) on AT&T in Portland, Oregon.
Only person I really get MMS from are my fiance & she has a One also they come through like I took them myself.

That's not really a problem on your end; your friends are simply sending you low-pixel pics.
Tell them to check their mms settings and see if they can up the mega pixel size.
Maybe not. I remember my Evo 4G compressed incoming pictures. May be the same thing going on.

How to fix?
It's very annoying, can't see the pic correct - but my girlfriend's phones camera is 8 mpixel and it still resize's it. Hmm I can't understand ... Anyone?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk
Is her phone also android? Android compresses the crap out of outgoing mms pictures by default. Many custom ROMs have the compression turned off. That may be a good first step until someone with more knowledge than me sees this thread.

I got my Note today and when having a conversation with my sister on it I noticed that when I responded to her texts mine would sometimes go above hers. (see image) It wasn't just in GoSMS also happened in the stock program. Has anyone had this issue before and know how to resolve?
Image: my texts are on left. In the set of two light green/yellow texts the first one should be above the green one that is above it, because it is my sister's text and THEN my response in dark green.

I had the same thing and mines even deleted itself. No clue on how to fix this. Hope someone does.
I knew I wasn't the ONLY person that actually wrote text messages that are readable and in english instead of
"oh rly dat wy he knw do dat nomor"
I thought I read somewhere about someone having this issue with android..I'll look and see if I can find it.
My Inspire used to do this too, it started doing it about 1 or 2 months ago. It happens if I fire off a response right after receiving a text although I will say it hasn't happened on the Note yet.

Am having the same issue.
My Photon 4G did this just the other day. I responded to a 4 week old SMS, then when I went back to look at it because it seemed oddly familiar, the old message had moved back where it belonged.

I have had this when i am texting with someone in different time zone. 2 weeks ago i was in Wisconsin texting family in Florida. This issue cropped up.:banghead:
I've even noticed that my responses seem to travel back in time by one minute.
When I instantly respond my text will not only be put above the text I responded to but also my response will be put back in time. Weird. I'll respond to a text I received at 6:53 and my response gets logged in as sent at 6:52.

I had the exact same problem after I was forced to install the att room en lieu my Rogers ROM. I fixed it by going into settings/time & date disable auto, put time zone to 0 and set the time and date properly and that's it!

Well ive had this issue on my galaxy nexus but it appears to be happening also on my galaxy s 3 (Verizon). It usually only happens when someone sends me a picture along with text inside the text message. While its not a HUGE deal its still very annoying. Is there any way to fix this?
I heard all variant of gs3 has this bug. Hopefully Samsung will fix it soon.
Try Gosms if it bother you that much.

I've once again had to resort to using Handcent as a workaround for the mms issues. I don't understand why no Android phones can handle mms as well as other (unspoken) phones.

It only shows up as a movie when they send you multiple pictures in one MMS. Have them send you one pic at a time and they'll come through normal

Anyone else having a nightmare of a time with video recording? Compared to my original one x it's very choppy and loads of picture noise. Very very disappointed. Think I might sell it. I don't find anything else, apart from jellybean, worth the upgrade to be honest.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Hmmm i thought they might actually have tweaked the camera at least on the software side of things to make it better than one x but this turns out to be just the opposite ! Anyhow thanks because these days only real user opinions can be trusted not those reviewers !
I don't know what's going on, my HOX+ records very well... I have to guess if
1) users do something very wrong
2) there are some faulty devices out there
3) the want to troll the HOX+
Don't forget it's a smartphone and no DSLR, so you will need enough light for pics, but that's the same with all similar decives with this small sensors out there...
Mine is very very fast, get's warm but never in any way hot, battery life is great and recording of stills and video is excellent compared with other smartphones...

I love my one x camera. Stills and video are great. The one x+ stills are not quite as good but I can live with it. It's not bad by any means but the video recording is very poor. Can't live with it like this. Going to do a factory reset and see if that helps. If not I'm going to try and exchange it. I'm thinking I might have a faulty device.

Maybe a third party video recording app can fix this?
Any suggestions for 3rd party apps?
I shouldn't have to rely on them but it's worth a shot.

Just checked the app you suggested. It's definitely better. Love the fact you can alter the bitrate. It seems to solve the blockiness and noise. Although im only checking on my phone as I'm not at home to try it in my tv. Unfortunately the chopiness is still there. Most annoying. Will have to check more when I'm home. You guys who are having no problems, what are you comparing the video recordings too? Which phones?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Just an update.
I've exchanged the phone for a new one and the stock video camera is still definitely far inferior to the original one x. Not sure if it's just a software problem but I assume it is. Can anyone else with both phones confirm this to save my sanity please.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I'll try it tomorrow and report back.

Almost guaranteed to be a software issue. HTC just looooooves to compress the living hell out of everything without giving an option to remove compression.
Thanks. Try and compare on a tv if possible

I have the same problem with poor choppy video. I did a side by side comparison with the original HOX and the video is much better than the HOX+.

And also has anybody got any 3rd party camcorder apps to recommend? I'm using LG cam at the minute but it seems a bit buggy.

Thank god I'm not going crazy. Thanks for putting my mind at rest. I'm a bit worried that not enough people have noticed this to bring it to HTC,s attention.
Hope they fix it soon or I might just keep my one x and sell this.

Ok so I am trying to send a picture to a Samsung g3 via Android beam and it would send? It sends Internet pages and apps but it wound send a picture... It makes the sound but does not do anything else?
Now when I try to send a pic from the g3 to my phone the g3 makes the nosie and shrinks the pic down and says tab to send.. But once you tap it it acts like it sends but it does not send...
Any ideas?

I don't think NFC can transfer 2mb+ but somebody correct me if ok wrong. It is used to transfer information like contacts, apps, web pages,YouTube links
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Android Beam doesn't send photos via NFC in ICS. That was a feature added in JB. Once we get the Jelly Bean update on our phones, it should work. I think it should work if your phone is running CM10.
Thanks guys.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
If the item keeps shrinking and does not send, it is usually because the NFC antennas are not lined up correctly. I assume the GS3's NFC is at exactly the middle and ours is about 1/3 down from the top, so remember to pull the Evo LTE down a bit. Android beam seems to send anything Google apps related well, but nothing else (it will just send the receiver to the play store page). The only things that send reliably for me are contacts. Pictures never seem to send well. It just makes the connection sound but doesn't give me an option to send anything.

I wonder if he paired with blutooth first then used NFC? I would like to know how also
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
As far as I know, Android Beam is not capable of transferring large files. It only utilizes the NFC capabilities of the phone, so it is limited to small files, such as webpage links, app links, playlists, etc. The app on the GS3 utilizes the Wi-Fi in conjunction with the NFC to allow for the transfer of large files.
Down load bump from market . Works great . I'm sending things to my girls LG viper running ics as of 2 data ago

basicly what the gs3 does is when u use the NFC to send picture it actually links the phone via WiFi direct and send the file that way.
