What Android version?
You can install apps from the Market/Play Store/Google Play, for this first add an Google Account to the device.
To install apps downloaded outside Play Store, you should go to Config > Security and then check Unknown Source. You could use some File Manager to install then, like ES File Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop

Hi there,am running BEASTSense ROM on HTC Hero. When am trying download from the market it doesn't download. It says your app will be download and that's it. Does anybody knows the answer of that annoying thing ? Reflash the rom doesn't help.
Thanks.
It sounds like you are trying to download the app from the Play Store Webpage..
If that is the case, then after a new flash you need to download at least one app through the market on your phone in order to "link" your phone and the play store account, after which you can close and reopen the play store twice in order for the app to update itself to the latest version.
when it reopens as Play Store and you agree the terms and conditions, it should then work online on the webpage .. or try download another app to link it and try again
The rom I'm running is with market app instaled.Doesn't wont update to google play. If I try install it says "there is a problem with installing the package". Anyway will change the rom probably. Thanks
I have the same issue as the guy in OP, the downloading app just hangs in there in the status bar
Have you tried to wipe market data and cache in Manage Applications. You could try to flash or push an updated market App to replace your current app if you feel the app is broken.. Paraphrasing Icebox from his thread..
You will need to find the market apk you want to push (i guess that's from Froyo version) and copy/paste it into /system/app by using a file manager that has root access - Es File Explorer is great for this but you'll need to grant root access from Settings (Es File Explorer settings that is) and then perform the copy/paste action in /system/app.
The market is named Vending.apk and the one you'll copy should need to have the same name.. ..
Good luck, or try a different Rom.. etc

After rooted the phone and using this rom - v2.0 XZ2 AROMA, google search doesn't not index my device (contacts/ apps). Which makes it unable to search my device. I can't find any settings in the google search app or google settings regarding to this. How should I fix this?
Delete the preinstalled play services, with a root explorer app, reboot and reinstall from the play store, it will now work.

@nintendolinky, how should I do this "Delete the preinstalled play services, with a root explorer app"? Should I be looking for a folder? or a bunch of files?
In priv-app there is gmscore.apk, delete that, reboot and then reinstall play services from the play store.

I am using "Root Browser". Trying to uninstall "system/priv-app/GmsCore.apk" got "Uninstall unsuccessful". What could be wrong?

You need to "delete" the file, not "uninstall" it.

I got it resolved by downloading ES file browser. This time tapping gmscore.apk shows "install" rather than "uninstall". I just "install" the apk and the phone search feature is back to normal now. Thanks everyone for the help.
With the app DicePlayer I want to stay at version 2.0.53, because from 2.0.54 on AC3 support was removed.
To not accidently update to a version >2.0.53 (e.g. by hitting Update All) I've used the function Detach from Market that is offered by Titanium Backup.
Unfortunately this detachment is being resetted on every reboot of the phone (Nexus 5 with 4.4.4).
Is there a way to permamently detach an app from Android Market?

Hi, I realise this is an old post but it's something I've been trying to do for a while too. I've finally accomplished it successfully so I thought I'd share it on in some of the topics.
It works by changing the apk signature so the app typically becomes 'different' to the one on the Google Play Store and therefore doesn't appear in your Google Play Store list. But by doing this, you won't be able to update the app from Play Store.
How to:
Need Root.
First do a TB backup of current apk just to keep it.
With a file explorer, go to root\data\app and copy the app apk that you want to change and paste it somewhere on SD card.
Now uninstall the app
Download and install: ZipSigner by Ken Ellinwood from Play Store.
Open ZipSigner, choose input file and navigate to earlier copied apk
I used key/mode: auto-testkey
Sign the file
The new signed apk will be put in the same directory the original file was.
Now install that signed apk and your're done. Check market.
Worked for me - hope it works for you!
Thanks. Unfortunately, doesn't work with Barclays UK app. Has this worked with this app for anyone? thnx
help me to install app.
i had rooted my device and deleted all the system apps like google play store, default browser, file manager, default launcher and used third party application. But when i reset my device everything is gone and i can't access play store, default browser, file manager, default launcher to install other apps. No please help me to install apps. (i can access to setting, alarm, galary, youtube and superuser using google search):
my device is Samsung galaxy tab 2
android version 4.2.
please help.
I tried to use wondershare mobile go app installer but my usb is not working.
First install any launcher like go launcher or whatever.
If you have a working browser, try Downloading Google play store app and google play services.
I have a new phone. Samsung Galaxy A50s. Model number SM-A507FN
I downloaded Arnova's Beta 6: GCam_5beta6.200105.0445build-7.2.018.apk
for Android 9+ phones from https: // ww w. celsoazevedo. com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested assuming it will work on my phone. However, the app has been crashing frequently and it does not work. I have upgraded the software of the phone so it was upgraded to Android 10. Kernel 4.14.62-17887617.
This app was not installed from play store so I don't know how to uninstall it now. So please let me know how to uninstall this app. It not appear in the list of installed apps either in settings or in the play store.
Because you didn't install the app from Google Play, that's why this app doesn't appear on your play store's installed apps list. I think the reason why your apk file keeps crashing and not working is that the installed apk version isn't compatible with your device system. So it's important to find a proper apk file before downloading. Maybe you can find some useful infor abt the compatibility between device version and app version in this article apktovi.com/blogs/how-to-find-a-proper-variant-for-apk-download.
And if you're lookin' for a way to uninstall apk file, you can apply the following simple steps: Go to "My file" application>search for the apk file>long press and tap "Delete" in the upper right-hand corner. Hope this helps!!
